Mate, I've listened to this non stop from the moment I got hold of it. It's in my phone, in my PC, on whenever I drive. There are parts on this album that deadset make me tear up with their beauty and mastery. If Tool never make another album I'll take this, no problem, because it's one for the ages.
I feel the same... was at their Chicago concert Nov. 3rd. One word "Epic" Afterward, I drove through the city, Which, by the way it's a beauty of a city. I'm surprised the car speakers did not blow.
When I first heard that slow breakdown about 2/3 through the song, I was loving the song, but it brought a lot of sadness. I felt like I was hearing their career winding down in that moment, but man is it beautiful. I choose to believe we’ll get one more album in a few years, but if this is it, I can’t be mad. They left it all out there. The album is genius.
J Sanders dude. I legit cried when that part started because it made me feel the same way! Like it was making me think of their career winding down and every note from that point forward has a purpose. I ended this album with a tear rolling down my 34 year old 20 year long fans face.
Undeniably. 7empest the culmination of Adam Jones entire career. It brought me to tears the first time heard it. This is Adam's Opus. Hands down. Shut the door. 7empest will be in the rock roll Hall of Fame!! It's just doesn't get any better than this! Rock on man! You're face at 3:23 says it all. You could of had used that three seconds as your video and I would have understood. 🤘🖤

I feel your emotions on this one brother. As a lifelong Tool fan 7empest made me the happiest man alive. It's an epic sonic journey... something that every legitimate Tool fan should celebrate. Cannot wait to hear it live!
Ive never in my life heard a guitar make some of those sounds. It kind of makes me think about when distortion was first discovered and how it forever changed the rock and roll universe. This song is a breakthrough same as that had been. 7empest is many things. Classic. Masterpiece. Genuine. Beautiful. Haunting. Terrifying. In my opinion it’s composed in such a way as to instill fear to the listener. Fortunately millions of lives have been saved by the first track, Fear Inoculum.
Adam has always been (to me) only a vital rhythm part of the band, but this album he shines. He does things I never thought he was capable of. He is great. That being said I still think Danny is the master of this whole album.
I said this on the audio video, and I'll say it again. This is the Evolution of "Stranglehold" by Nugent. Justin, Adam and Danny just re-create music in this song. It is truly next generation rock. They are this generations RUSH, where you just wonder how these guys can make those sounds. Pure Genius.
YES! I knew you'd love it! Tool has come back to restore order in the music industry with this album 👌🤘 they've come back to remind people what music really is my man 👊 great reaction 😎
Hello !! Why doesn't anybody EVER Mention the bass player ( Justin ) Take that bass playing and Awesome tone away What do you have ? Not just this song but ALL There song's .. Sorry but the BASS Player and DRUMMER Makes the tool sound..
Normally I'd be with you, but they threw Adam in the spotlight once and he FUCKED THIS SHIT UP. I bet they changed the name to 7empest after they heard him record and were just so blown away
I've cried many times listening to opera or a symphony (Puccini, Mahler, Holst, especially when large choirs are involved) but never rock - until now. Listening to "7empest", I felt as if I was hearing "Evil Ways", "Suzie Q", "Voodoo Chile", "Stranglehold", "Whipping Post", "Achille's Last Stand", "Stairway to Heaven", "War Pigs", and "Freebird" simultaneously and for the very first time. Overwhelming. I realized this album has more in common with a symphony that a rock album; that is, a group of movements that runs about an hour and a half, the movements a series of musical ideas without a verse, chorus, verse, chorus, bridge, chorus structure, but the overall effect creating a whole that leaves you exhilarated, devastated, exhausted, but more than anything, utterly moved. Yep. That.
The fucking raw power from Adam, that massive groove from Justin, the agression (finally!) in Maynards voice and every time Danny smacks that drum at the right time with his 12 arms, absolute mental song.
I've listened to 7EMPEST probably over 100 times now- each time I struggle to come up with words to attempt to justify how badass this song is but I fail. It brings tears to my eyes on every single listen.
🤘🏻🌀 I am so in love with this song right now!!! Seeing them tonight in Nashville and I know they probably won’t play it but I am excited to the point of tears listening!!!!! It’s such an epic song!!!
I have just come to Tool and I think this piece of music is 10 out of 10. In fact if a song does this to you and me....it's important it's one of the greatest pieces of music EVER.
Ali Hijazi Well it’s called Tempest. I always envision being in a storm and how the wind pulls in all kinds of different directions. It spirals up and down it’s crazy. I‘ve listened to it many times and I still get goosebumps.
Dude, my reaction was very similar to yours the first time I listened to this track. The guitar solos.. oh my god in heaven. Un. Fucking. Real. Ive never in my life heard a guitar make those kinds of sounds. It’s absolutely ridiculous. Same as you my mind was completely fucking blown and i was left speechless. That first riff in the beginning of the song, when that hit me i was like 😨 what in gods name was that?! Toward the end i was like how and why is this possible/happening?! This song is unbelievable. To me, it is an instant classic. A fucking masterpiece.
Pneuma is best song on the album, no question about it. Potentially one of the best songs they ever wrote, 7empest is a good fucking song tho non the less
Nice vid, man! Hell yeah and go Buckeyes....You were talking about whether this would be the last Tool album. I've been a diehard fan since 92 and here's what I worry about with Tool....drummer burnout....We just saw it happen with Rush, another brilliant band.Their drummer Neil Peart is a fricking genius like Tool's Danny Carey, but Rush had to stop because Neil is just getting older, and its hard, hard work playing the parts that he performed when he was younger. Now look what Danny Carey does for Tool. The time changes, the power and intricacy, the man is absolutely incredible....But he's a couple of years older than me and I'm feeling my age some. So it goes.
Damn man, and hat's off for drinking that High-Gravity Lager at 10am....I know that shit, that beer can be hard work once it ain't so cold.....*fuckin shudder*
2:56 Stank face starts. Seriously: When I first experienced this track, my reactions were exactly the same. And they still are, no matter how often I listen to it. And I listen to it a lot.
People in the future will look back to this album with eyes full of wonder. Their discography is a work of alchemical magic, this album is a beacon that will ripple into the future and draw the curiosities of listeners to run through their discography backwards and then forwards. And they will then never see music the same ever again. I see it happening already.
Going to your Shang Tseung reference, this is like the Final Boss Tool. When they unleash all of thier faces in one fight in order to beat you down mercilessly. Loved listening to the album with ya, man. Cheers! 🍻
Probably my favorite song as well. Adam goes CRAZY in this track. It's as if we're on our intergalactic ship and he puts the lead down in the direction 'out of course' to chase a a star. A thousand times, you wanna scream, "Adam stop!!!", But you can't, you're muted and it's all just TOO beautiful!!!

It's not gonna be 13 years to the next album. I'm honestly convinced this was their final album. And if it weren't, what would ever be able to live up to THIS?
Came for Tool...stayed cuz of Dan! Good Job Bro, greetz from Germany
I came earlier because of We are not your Kind... and still here of course ;) Dan rockz!!!

Adam: I have 13 years of solo to get off my chest.
It shows that the son of a bitch was practicing guitar every single day in these 13 years, he is a monster man
Apparently, a lot of the riffs from this song, and the album, date back to the Undertow/Ænima days.
Not only that but he's beyond master level.
@@desenova9135 that wouldn't surprise me. As you move through the song you can hear the journey from album to album.
