@@corihutchinsonx The hammocks and baskets are safe for sure, just make sure the hammocks are made of fleece. The fluffy balls however are not safe. Any material like that isn't good for rats to ingest. The little baby toy chains (or whatever they are) are safe for rats, but I don't trust the plastic animals since it looks like soft plastic. Most hard plastics are okay for rats but make sure it isn't small enough to be a choking hazard

You should get the DCN cage but a walk in cage sounds amazing! But I love our DCN cages. It's so easy to take things in and out. We have two colonies of sugar gliders. The first colony are two rescues. the second colony are my lineaged breeding pair. There are three in this colony, the mom, dad and a baby I just couldn't adopt out their first baby so he's neutered and hanging with Mom and dad. Mom and Dad currently have two joey's in pouch. I'm so excited to see them come our of pouch and see what they will be. The first joey is a white faced. But mom and dad are a platinium and mosaic.
have you thought about getting the security cameras you can look at on ur phone ? i have them and one inside my bearded dragon tank. they have night vision so you could get some real cool footage as well as check up on them without disturbing them

They are pretty musky and my 4 like to spin on their wheel and poop at the same time so it went alllll over the wall. We got a tarp behind the enclosure to protect the apartment lol. But they are so bad - ferrets are worse in my opinion in terms of smell although they’re cute af
I have flying squirrels! They don’t smell, can be potty trained and barely any mess! Definitely would look into them if you love sugar gliders.
Look up the diet bml. My boy was stinky when I got him. Now he's neutered and on a good diet there is still a scent but nothing major. Also I rotate cleaning stuff in the cage so my boy does try to scent things bc his cage always has some of his scent. Hope that helps!!

Gigi Bonet please do some research before commenting. The original group of 500 or so Gliders brought to the US for domestication were from Indonesia. None of the Sugar Gliders kept as pets here are from Australia. They are also nowhere near "endangered"! They are actually hunting other species of animals to hear extinction in the wild. So many false statements in one sentence 🤦

I want to live in there. I have always wanted sugar gliders but I'm not sure I'll ever be able to realistically accommodate them the way the deserve.
My daughter and I watch TH-cam videos while we eat our lunch. And she wanted the one with the blue hair. Well she yelled at me when I started this video bc your hair isn't blue anymore in it. But she quickly got over that and started dancing around and tapping her foot to the music and had big smiles.

After buying a bunch of Shuggie toys and pouches at Amazon, our Gizmo decided he loves those thick socks with fleece inside that you can buy at WalMart. We just hang them all over the cage with clips or safety pins, and he loves crawling down the length of the socks into his hidey-holes. At $5 or less a pair, the price can’t be beat.
I agree that they do smell terrible despite cleaning. I use doggie vanilla scented wipes to run over Giz, and also use the doggie pads. As a matter of fact, I think I we have the same brand of cage that you do, except it’s a bit smaller. Oh, and we got the nail trimming wheel and he pees all over that too. My husband cut down a small pine in the back yard, trimmed it well, and drilled holes to glue artificial leaves to the tree. Gizmo loves to pull the leaves off and drag them down his inside his socks!
We have a long, colorful chain with loosely lidded cups for hiding food. Also a coconut hut with a ladder, and various feeders on the ledges. For treats, my husband gives Gizmo some home-raised gut loaded crickets that he breeds for his reptile buddies. This is the one food that you must not feed him by hand. He goes insane when he smells a crickets, and will lunge after it. If your fingers get in the way, you are in for some four letter words and a bandage. It’s still hilarious to watch him chomp the poor cricket in half and sit munching each half in both hands, a look of utter rapture on his little pointed face. When he gets to the drumsticks, he eats them a bit faster. You can hear them crunch. Ewwww. Lol. Thanks for your vids. ✌🏼AM

Just checked out the link to your second choice as a cage and noticed it has 1 inch bar spacing which is too big because sugar gliders will be able to get out of anything wider than 1/2 of an inch.
This is what the cage is titled as on amazon in the link you provided:

Just figured i should mention this because some people might not know to check the bar spacing when getting a cage for their gliders.
An alternative to this cage I'd like to mention relating to its large size and accessibility to the inside would be the Double Critter Nation in my opinion. You can buy an add on unit so it becomes a "Triple" Critter Nation as well as buying 2 or more Double Critter Nations and making them one really big cage by attaching them side by side since you can take out the wall grates that divides them into 2 separate cages. If you do this, you can have a cage that's as long as your house wall will allow like this:

Also, red light doesn't bother them so much so you're more likely to capture some of their activity on camera if you use red light bulb's.
HighHopes Since92 I couldn’t have said it better myself. I was concerned that the bar spacing was bigger than 1/2 inch even tho that cage is beautiful the double critter nation is the better bet. 😊

The only reason i know is because i did a lot of research before getting my gliders and found that the Double Critter Nation seems to be the best cage for multiple reason's. The only downside that I've heard is that it can rust easily so you have to be careful what you use to clean it and make sure after cleaning it that it's dried thoroughly to prevent that from happening.

I have two sugar gliders. I have a custom made home for them. 6ft by 4ft. With heating. I generally don't like using plastic toys like that for them. I use cork and eucalyptus leaves, along with a wheel with a nail pad and lots or safe woods for them. Make all different wood hideouts for them. I'm always scared them they could eat a plastic toy if your not careful or get their feet and hands stuck. As they will chew their own limps off if they can't free themselves. Also my gliders aren't smelling at all, my chinchillas are worse haha. But i can see you love all your animals so much. From glider mom to another 😊😊

Savannah Valentine if you don’t mind smelly pets ferrets are awesome! I got my ferret when I was 10 and he lived to be 9 years old. He died from a tumor that grew on his ear. Fairly easy to care for (I did it on my own at 10 years old)

the cage u shared from amazon has a 1 inch spacing Between the bars and it’s possibly that they can get out from that...

I've had gliders for years if you need any anything I would love to help!! I make toys and pouches as well. Look into the diet bml its the easiest in my opinion. You can freeze everything and then scoop out some each night! I hope you're loving them. They also love little dollhouses. You must take out the screws and use zip ties instead.
Some of the bridges aren't seamless and aren't fleece I wouldn't use those if they get caught on a string they will mutilate themselves to get out

Jamie Walter I haven’t heard that. I got this wheel from the woman who makes all the toys and has had sugar gliders for a decade. But I’ll look into it! Sugar gliders are very different from other small mammals though.
No that's a great wheel for them. One of the best. I used wheels from that wheel maker for 11 years and it was their favorite. Super safe too.
You actually want one with holes in it so it doesn't get filled with poop as they run! Their feet are different from rats and hamsters that could get stuck in the holes.
Its a proper safe sugar glider wheel. They need the holes so they arent running in pee/poo but also so their feet can grip as they use the wheel. Gliders dont run on wheels like hamsters. They jump and push off so grip is important. Look up sugar gliders running slow motiom on youtube and you will see why these wheels are so important!
Actually that wheel is one of the best wheels you can get for your sugargliders. I have 5 colonies and I use the Freedom wheels (as she has in her cage) and I also use the Raptor wheels.

with the bigger cages I would be concerned about bar spacing and the gliders escaping. they're designed for macaws so the bar spacing is probably around an inch while the current cage is probably 1/2" - 3/4"
Smell can be worse depending on diet. BML, TPG, OHPW, CritterLove are all tested diets. I'm not sure what diet you have them on. Also, if you clean too much and you clean everything in their cage at once, they will overmark to get their smell back. Overcleaning is actually bad with them cause it'll increase the smell. You should only clean half the fleece stuff at a time so their scent stays in the cage. Wait a few days and the clean the other fleece things. Unaltered males also smell more than altered males, and females smell even less.
I appreciate you sharing they're kind of smelly. Because my husband loves ferrets but I can't do them because I had one as a kid and the smell reallllly put me off. But we were thinking about sugar gliders as well and i'd be so sad if I found out for myself they were smellier than ferrets haha so thank you.

No that's the right type of wheel for sugar gliders! Suggies run differently than hamsters and gerbils. They kind of bounce and grip into the holes with their feet! There's videos in slow motion in you want to see what I'm talking about

Please watch the wear and tear on the pouches because their nails can get caught and they can struggle and it can become fatal. Ive learned the hard way. Ive owed alot of the lil guys, they are so much fun and can be the best little pets for an experienced exotic pet owner. So you'll have a blast.
