    As someone who is very familiar with ball python care, I would suggest feeding the snakes inside of their enclosure, I know there's a lot of mixed feelings about it but from personal experience and interacting with other people that have had Bps for a long time, moving to feed can stress them out and does more harm than good. It doesn't make them cage aggressive if you handle them regularly (not just when it's food time) and if you put some paper down or a plastic lid, they aren't likely to consume any substrate (even if they do, it's not the end of the world and they will likely just poop it out). You also don't need the red light for bps, it can actually stress them out and isn't great for their eyes, a CHE and under tank heater on a thermostat is ideal for them. Overall your animal care is on point and I think it's awesome that you rescue almost all of your pets.

    • @levinutter3026
      @levinutter3026 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      i thought the same things, and the rat looked pretty small for the size of the ball python...

      All of my ball pythons can't wait to get out and be handled but it depends on the snake. I've been lucky I guess

    • @calliew311
      @calliew311 ปีที่แล้ว

      And in the wild, I'm sure some ball pythons eat a little dirt or whatever when they are eating their food. I think as long as it's not too much or too often, they will be fine, and like you said, much better for the snake's mental health to not be taken from their home to be fed.

    I had the same issue with my chameleon climbing on the mesh when I first got him so I added more pathways and plants for him to climb around and hide and he hasn’t done it since then, so maybe try adding more to your enclosure. The mesh is better for their respiratory health, so I would try my best to keep him in your current enclosure. 😁

    (I know this is an old video so idk how relevant this is for her now) the thing about feeding hamsters, even though it's nice to feed them their favorite foods, if you're giving them that much food and topping off their bowls everyday, they're going to be very picky eaters and probably not get all the nutrients they need. You really only need to feed them every couple of days because even when their bowl is empty they most likely have a hoard somewhere. Plus you don't want them to be over fed and become unhealthy. Just some recommendations for all hamster owners!

      The Tiny Herd no she did not. Far too many veggies and far too many pellets. I’ve had rabbits as long as I can remember, and I’m in veterinary school. They should be getting half of what she gave them of both pellets and veggies.

    • @TheTinyHerd
      @TheTinyHerd 5 ปีที่แล้ว +55

      @@opshiedaisy pellets I didn't pay attention to, so ok. She said she doesn't feed them all those vegetables everyday so I assumed she doesn't usually feed that much. Generally its 1 cup veggies per 2 pounds of body weight. Unless you're specializing in exotics it doesn't really matter if you're in vet school, so are most of my friends and I know more about rabbits than they do if they aren't going into exotics. Care changes constantly. Some people feed no pellets and all vegetables and some people feed limited vegetables and more pellets, you have to tailor to your rabbits digestive preferences to keep them healthy. I wasn't really commenting on the amount, I was commenting on the fact that the original person said it wasn't the correct foods. All of those foods are ok per the house rabbit society website, which is the standard for rabbit care. (Except maybe the broccoli slaw, I probably wouldn't feed that.)

    Hey, I know I am superrrr lateeee to this video and i have checked through the comments and was surprised to see that no one else had commented on this. I don't know if your feeding routine has changed so if so, i do apologise in advance. For your rabbits the amount of veggies you're feeding them is far tooo much. They should only have about a cup of veggies per kilo of weight. Some of the veggies here are really not beneficial for your rabbits. Cabbage is very gassy for rabbits and should only be fed in very small amounts (I tend to avoid any gassy foods as there are great alternatives). Feedings carrot and banana at the same time is way too much sugar for your rabbits (even if they do go crazy for it). These high sugar foods should be fed around once a week and it should be one or the other not both. A carrot is the equivalent of a cupcake for us. The pellets definitely should not have those 'treats' in as your bunny will just get used to picking out the good bits when just the plain brown pellets have the nutrients they need. Nuts should not be fed at all as like seeds they are unable to digest these. I am aware that in the video you said that you were only adding a large quantity to show us what range of veggies you do feed however, this can cause so much harm to your rabbits e.g an upset stomach and runny poops which is an emergency. You should never feed your rabbit more just for a video. I also picked up on the fact that you said wild rabbits thrive off veggies in the wild therefore you want to feed your rabbits these. Wild rabbits and domestic rabbits are completely different in terms of their diet and what they need to thrive. A domesticated rabbit would not survive in the wild so its best not to compare the two and treat them the same. A good alternative to these veggies would be herbs such as mint, dill, coriander, basil etc.

      @@tarynhall7113 so the thing is most reptile people know that sand is a big no no in the community. The reason being reptiles like bearded dragons and other lizards test heat gradients and others things with their sticky tongue so accidently ingesting the sand, which doesn't digest which over time if they eat alot can block their intestines and cause impaction and kill them. A little piece will pass but alot being eaten at one time does not. Also being bad for their joints.

    So I'm honestly not sure if you'll see this or not but it's worth a shot. I was a bit surprised to hear you mention bathing bear in Listerine and alcohol. The only thing I could find on using Listerine on hamsters is a mite treatment using witch hazel + Listerine + hot water then spraying it on your hands and rubbing it into the fur, as you've said on-screen Bear has tested negative for mites so the treatment would be unnecessary. As you probably already know bathing hamsters is a big no no unless an absolute emergency, alcohol is especially drying (if you've ever used alcohol on your skin you'll notice how dry it makes it) therefore giving Bear even drier skin which can cause him to be even itchier. If your current vet is unsure what the cause is then I would see another exotic vet and get a skin scraping. There can be *many* causes to fur loss, such as Sarcoptic Mange, Ringworm, Nutritional and/or Hormonal Deficiencies, kidney related disorders, or even just caused from old age, as you said Bear is older and fur loss can be quite common with older hamsters as they produce less sebum.

      @@mxddy-2857 our hamster community has some things that we may see that would cause is to lose it. When you fall in love with a tiny flooofy you automatically want ALLL THE TINY FLOOOOOFIES living their best lives. Small enclosures, small wheels, harmful "toys", etc. Trust me, no one is doing anything but suggesting she may try an alternative way.
      We could also complain that she's calling them "teddy bears" which is a no-no. Or that the floofy's could use a bit more bedding - at least 4 inches.
      My point is, if you put your makeup on with a brush every day, that works, but someone suggesting you try a beauty blenders doesn't mean they're trying to tell you how to live.

    Fellow chameleon mom here. For Zeppelin your Panther chameleon I would suggest adding a big live plant. I really like dracaena marginata or schefflera. You can also line the sides of the cage with plastic garden fencing from a home improvement store to help keep them from climbing the mesh screen. I'd suggest doing that over changing to glass.
    Also for supplements chameleons are sensitive to D3 to I'd make sure to feed them mostly plain calcium (There's a Miner-All without D3) and a multivitamin like repashy LoD twice a month. Then the D3 maybe only a couple times a month if that. :) 🐍

    I really enjoyed this video. I would suggest feeding your snakes bigger prey and in their tank as much as possible. Your attitude is really nice and you seem to really care for these animals. You definitely got yourself a new subscriber today ❤️

      Agree. I have a ball python that's about the same size as noodle and he's taking down rat pups that are much bigger then her feeders. All snakes are different.....but the prey sizes seem way too small.

      I haven’t yet seen what substrate she uses but sometimes they don’t feed inside the tank because the bps an other snakes will ingest the substrate accidentally, also they can become over territorial of their cage and attack the hand of their keeper when you go to pick them up.
