I'm watching on a 65inch TV and the picture quality is absolutely brilliant, great review
Amazing picture quality
Glad you like it
Excellent review on a very good dashcam by looks of it
Looking forward to an improved long-term (or mid-term) product reliability. VIOFO HQ is sending me the A119 Mini2 V2 next week.. I am excited!
I think the very small price extra for the third camera would be WELL worth it. The 'yes, i did have my seat belt on' and the side visions. I really hate my 70mai and would never buy another.
You have a great point there and something I thought about but didn't expand on in the video. The interior camera could assist in many different scenarios, even in situations where drivers claim they had X In their hand while driving (where the detection camera says you had a phone but drivers claim it was an ipod or lighter as is on the news from time to time etc) I could if positioned it a little better but already have a number of dc mounts and etags that I wasn't going to move as I don't have anymore tape to reinstall
100%. @@aussiecams
If theres a better picture quality on a dashcam ive not seen it - looks great. Can i ask a question about it? What size micro sd would you recommend?
Martin, for this particular camera I would recommend 256gb. 3 channels recording i got almost 4hrs of driving time with a bit of parking mode here and there. To be perfectly honest, as the camera quality continually improves the larger sizes you will need hence viofo has increased the max size card in this model to 512gb (up from the usual 256gb)
Were you using the CPL filter when you took those night videos?
09:45 top right corner of dash cam setup - yes cpl was on!
Hi there. I'm looking at purchasing a new dash cam, but I've got some criteria I want to meet so I was wondering if you had any recommendations? The two most important things for me are sound quality and video quality. I drive a really noisy truck, but I find it's hard to find a dashcam that doesn't distort the audio quality too much. Also great video quality would be a big bonus too. If you see my videos I have two videos that were shot with my navman dashcam, but the audio quality is very distorted as the truck is loud. The picture quality is okay, but I know there's much better out there. Do you think the Viofo products would be good for me? I want to post longer form content from the dashcam itself, that's why I am a bit picky. Thank you.
Hey @sar4043 , I can certainly speak for the video quality side of things and i can say that the a229 pro with starvis2 sensor is probably the best for image quality we have tested. In my opinion the starvis2 IMX675+678 is the best leap forward in video quality for some time. As for the audio that's a different kettle of fish! Nothing wrong with any audio i've tested in general driving conditions in a vehicle but the trucks cabin is a completely different animal! I viewed some of your clips and understand exactly what you are talking about. The a229 pro has an optional microphone where you could mount the in the cabin and test to get better results (has a 2 mtr cable you could move around in the cabin and try to achieve the best result) its about $25 from memory. I suppose the voice commands may be affected by where you position the microphone, just something to keep in mind if you were to go that way. In saying that, i have tested it but from reports its an upgrade to the audio quality. Other than that i know its probably hard to find on yt but ive found looking over other truckies clips with maybe a similar rig to yourself is one of the best ways of identifying the better setups.
@@aussiecams Thanks so much for the reply, I appreciate it! I'll check out some clips with the a229 and the extra microphone and see how it sounds. I think video quality wise it does seem to be the best, or among the best at least. Thanks again.
correction, the pro version does not support the optional microphone - only compatible with a229/duo
14:07 What program do u use to be able to do this? Certainly the best cam so far to read number plates. I have the A139pro, but I cant see much difference between the 2.
Hey tassy, where you been! Not heard from you for a while. Filmora v12.5. A139pro has same front sensor but the a229 has the better rear starvis2 IMX675
@@aussiecams Hi dude. Been about with a few health issues lately. I think its called, getting old. I use Filmora v7.5. That would be why my 139 looks as good as the 229 then, lol. I think the Backvues are dearer, but for a mid-high quality cam, u cant go past Viofo, although I still use the Redtiger in the truck. Be safe.
Oh I thought the other day maybe you stopped driving the truck. Hope you feeling better soon. A139 pro and a229 pro are exactly same as for sensors so in theory will look pretty much same. The a229 will probably perform a little better with upgraded chipset and better sd cards now available.
A229 has better processor and the rear camera has it's own processor hence why it can handle higher bitrates in 3 channel mode
CPL filter is NOT included from viofo direct...
So the cpl filter appeared in the box by mistake? Listed as an included accessory on the website
I can confirm the CPL is included with the a229pro 3 channel as standard from viofo and states this on the website viofo.com/dash-cam/328-viofo-a229-pro-3ch-4k2k1080p-hdr-3-channels-car-dash-camera-with-sony-starvis-2-sensors-for-lyft-taxi-ridesharing-drivers.html
You are indeed correct, the PLUS does not...my mistake. @@aussiecams
Appears the cpl filter is now standard across the PRO versions of the viofo range
Yes, it wasnt before @@aussiecams
12:46 how fast is the actual transfer speed using 5ghz wifi?
Hey Steve, I don't have exact speed details on transfer speed increase for this version. I can tell you as per the settings I used for a 1 minute file it takes about 15-20 seconds (from memory) to download 4k file to phone/device
17 seconds for 1 minute front and about 9 seconds for rear awesome camera
Looking for an Adelaide reseller and installer...
Cheaper to buy through Aussiecams with discount then get it installed locally. Warranty still applies to unit I did this in qld, unit took a week from factory
will it survive in the heat?
Great question! Heat is a factor for all dashcams as temps inside a vehicle in summer can get extremely hot. Operating range up to 70 degrees then i believe it has auto heat safety shutoff. Im on all the forums and Dubai is just completing summer without any reports just yet. If you are on the fence about it just wait a few weeks as temps ramp up here, mid 30's and 40 odd will be just around the corner!
