You should try to get a Dell rx 6500. it's a very obscure OEM card from dell. it's like an underclocked 6500xt on the body of a 6400 (it's low profile too) but it's faster than the rx 6400 for less money. there's not a single youtube video about it only a few reddit posts. I ordered one yesterday from ebay. got mine for $70 but they seem to go for $80-85.
I got this same tower except it is called an Optiplex XE3. I got 2 of them with monitors, keyboards, and mouse for $150. The peripherals and monitors(720p 60hz) are bare bones. The cpus are Intel Pentium Gold 5600G, with 16 GB DD4 RAM and a 500GB HDD. I've been mulling over replacing the CPU with an I7-8700 or an I5-8500. The I7 is twice the price, and I am not sure if the performance upgrade is worth it. I am also trying to decide between the RX580 and the card you showcased here (GTX 1050ti). Again, not sure if $40 - $60 difference is worth the performance. Do you have any advice on this? I am glad i saw this video because i was unsure if this motherboard (Intel Q370) supported NVME SSDs. This decision is easy. I plan to build both of these and then sell one to fund the next project.
office pc or workstation pc plus a video card, bus powered or low watt 6pin or 8pin, theres thousands of LEGO combinations that you can put together, i suggest leaning towards the cases that are full size because that way you have a ton more options for video cards, make sure you buy an AC DC Watt Meter, read the power supply label, make sure your watt meter is not getting too close to the max under a game load. If you like to tinker or want to experiment some of the oem boards can be moved over to a custom pc case, some of the boards you can purchase adapters. Whatever floats your boat. As far as performance and asthetics thats going to be a very personal issue for every individual. Its your PC so build it as you see fit, then rinse and repeat with the next build.
Thanks! How much does it weigh? My son is going away for studying and would prefer something like this instead of a laptop with one of those portable monitors. But wonder how practical it is to move around frequently. Laptops break easily and cannot be upgraded.
You really needed to show installing the video card.. That looks like a double-height card but the x16 is the lower slot. There isn't much clearance between that slot and the power supply, so how did you get it in there? Did you plug it in to the x4 instead?
@@basicdadtech i have i3 7100 Intel HD 630. I dont have a GPU I want to know if I can play ps2 games Especially the Black game, if you can try it, thank you, my friend
I haven't tested black specifically but PS2 works nice on a i3 7100 with 4+4 GB ram. Probably you can upscale to X2. It was with windows although batocera would also work nice.
It depends. Sometimes I keep them a bit. For example I’ll probably do an emulation video for this PC. Sometimes I sell them on Facebook marketplace. I do usually keep the gpu’s in case I want them for a future video.
Maybe you can answer this. But i have bought an HP elitedesk. I want to turn it into a retro gaming pc. So putting Batocera on the SSD, and with the pc having a display port to HDMI. Can i plug it into a normal and or smart tv???
Yes. I'm doing that right now with an Optiplex 7050. You will need an adapter to turn the second PSU on with the system or it will send power all the time - the GPU won't care but the HDDs will wear faster.
@@SleepyJerky The second power supply will keep running even if the first powers down, so the disks will keep spinning unless you turn the second one off yourself. Not a huge deal, though. My Optiplex is a server, so it runs 24x7 anyway.
@@maurvir3197 I am considering on buying an optiplex and slap another PSU for the GPU and extra HDDs. What steps do I need to do for that? Do I need to do something extra?
@@SleepyJerky There are small boards that plug into the motherboard connector of the second power supply and short the power on line using a relay. I don't personally use one because I am only powering a GPU that the original power supply can't handle. In my case, I shorted the line permanently and use the power switch to cut power when I need to turn off the PC. Fortunately, GPUs don't seem to care what the sequencing is, but I usually turn the GPU power on before the PC power. The relay card automates that for you.
@tonykeltsflorida You are right the M.2 would add to the cost but I mention in the video that it’s optional. You could scrap by with 256 GB but that would fill up rather quickly. Depending on what you play.

What budget SFF GC would you recommend for a general video editing machine? Thanks
@professor_thunder anything with 4GB of vram. WX4100 would probably work well for 1080p video editing.

Wouldn't you be better off by getting a single slot card and running the full 16x? Has to be a performance loss running the x4 slot
