    This is great information for people just starting out with PCs. These old office machines can be found really cheap, and when you fix it up, add a GPU, all that, they can totally be fine for daily use and even some gaming.

      I recently discovered all of this stuff, emulation gaming was completely new to me and now I can't get away from it. I'm specifically building a cost effective machine to store all of the racing games from my past. If I can emulate PS2 on a Galaxy tab with barely 2gb of RAM I could only imagine on a full spec PC

      Yeah it's a Galaxy Tab s6 lite and it runs PS2 pretty good. Not everything, some titles you have to drop the resolution. But for the most part PS2, PSP, and Dreamcast are almost flawless@@Sykxezn

    AND it is worth noting that using a dremel or a powered saw of any kind will spread metal dust and particulates inside the PC which is generally no bueno.

      @@TheKbaker1971 I agree, but as you notice he does not mention disassembling the PC any further. He just mentions "saws and dremels". This video was aimed at new builders that might not think about tiny shrapnel flying everywhere while cutting or grinding. It would have been prudent if he mentioned what you said about disassembly.

    Man, this brings back memories of how like I just got all into this computer and techie stuff. I first started off with a office desktop PC, which was cheap and that was like the only way I was able to play computer games and then I would just modify it and add more RAM, SSD, and a low profile graph card to it and that’s how I started getting into PCs.😊

    The one thing I’m not estatic watching is using lower DLSS even though you’re nowhere near GPU bound. $10 in RAM upgrades gets you the extra performance there, as you’re 1. Maxed, and 2. Not in true dual channel (only 8GB is usable in dual channel [4+4], once you go above that you’re in single-channel mode).
    Just little things like this would make the viewer more informed. Great work otherwise guys!

    • @PieStudios
      @PieStudios 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Part of the issue is the ancient 4 core processor. Would much rather go for a system with an i5 8500

    • @AwSomeNESSS
      @AwSomeNESSS 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@PieStudiosCoffee/Comet-Lake would be an upgrade compared to this platform, however if you notice in Warzone the CPU is still only hovering at 60-70%. Haswell/Skylake/Kaby-Lake i7s can all hit higher frames in Warzone with adequate RAM/GPU configs. 32GB in Dual-Channel, Dual-Rank would allow you to hit full potential with this CPU/GPU combo, but even 16GB should allow close to that.

    • @Jwalker76
      @Jwalker76 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This isn't the first time Toasty bros have done one of these types of systems. They actually did a i5 8400 with again 12gb ram 2666mhz and I think it ran better than this system. Hard to tell because they don't do an average/1%/0.1% FPS numbers. Plus the i5 8400 system didn't require cutting to fit them GPU. Definitely would help upping the ram to 16gb.

      @@PieStudiosWhat are you on about? The 6700 is plenty good even if it's quad core. There's still not a lot of games that use more than 4 cores. The issue is the low RAM in single channel and the 3050 running PCIE 3. There's very little you can do about the GPU, but some more RAM would've been a huge boost.
      Truth be told, the worst part is using an m710. Those are awful.

    My 7010 SFF with i5 3570 + RX550 is still surprising me - got it for really old games. Ended up playing the likes of RDR2 (medium settings), Metro Exodus (low settings), Fallout 4 (max settings), and now Fallout London (with FSR). Cost = $150 including 480gb ssd and 16gb ram. For the amount of entertainment it's hard to beat value wise.

    You should have tried to remove any electronics before cutting. A tiny bit of shrapnel falls to the motherboard and shorts electrical connections --- your board is toast if you fail to see it before powering-up the system. Just saying on the safe side.

    This is a bit Safety Sam, but If you use a dremel, you want to be careful to protect the device from errant shards of metal that can cause an electrical short and damage components. Best practice is to go back and remove the motherboard, power supply & cables, then blow it out clean with canned air or a compressor.

PS/2 was different. The various subsystem modules were all Hevi-Duty plastic and in different colors and were snap in. I don't remember hinges and latches were snap in to the best of my recall. mb

    I'm super lazy so I prefer to use a cutting wheel on my dremel tool. Then I can also smooth out the edges of the cut so it's not sharp. I've use old optiplexes and such to build flips plenty of times and a lot of them have hard drive cages riveted in that get in the way of gpus.

    You don't need to buy Noctua or thermal grizzly thermal paste, so just buy tube of Arctic MX-4 that will cost you like 5 bucks at most and it will be better than whatever is used in the video.
    If you'll use Dremel or some cutting tool outside of the cutters in the video make sure you properly cover the system. Metal shavings can kill your whole system if they start shorting out stuff. To clean up the edges use file just cover the system properly because of metal shavings.

    Electric screwdriver good large wattage, maybe a hammer drill. with the. ten snaps adapter that you just plug in and it will do the same thing much, much easier, but it's $10 plus the drill. If you got just a drill running around. I noticed that people get the Those cutters a lot. I have bad hands. If you do anything with cutting sheet metal at any time, and you need something like that, that would be a lot better, a lot easier, a lot more useful, faster, something to keep. just to keep in your toolbox.

(yes im aware the rx 580 and ryzen 5 5500 is a huge bottle neck but it still preforms just as good as the build in the video if not better.)

    this is great, however, i would have cut away a bit more metal and I would have used a little duct tape to hide the sharp edges for whoever opens that case in the future.
    I think having low power low profile gaming options are the best. No one should need 4090 or 4090ti just to play a game and have it look good. it's getting to a point where only the people with an obscene amount of money will be able to play video games. If mfrs can "optimize" games for consoles, they should optimize for mid tier game cards as well.

    Yea I wouldn't go with the 3050 LP for this, the CPU was bottlenecking it beyond comprehension. Even then, I'd play at higher resolutions to make it more GPU bound.

    You may be CPU bottlenecking yourself using Ultra Performance DLSS, making the CPU work harder to push out frames instead of putting more work on the GPU at a native/close to native resolution. I remember my 8700k would bottleneck my 3060 ti at certain DLSS settings. Once i got a 13600k that wasn't a thing anymore.

    The i5 6500 and 7500 are popular on Amazon in entry level used PCs. The sff models just typically dip to the lowest price range but anything that is older than 6th Gen would be a dumpster find because they have so little value.
    How about building something that has more appeal in the under 200$ range and add ram, cooler,and a $169 dollar or less graphics card upgrade.

    Ok so i have a dell optiplex 7050 sff with an i5-7600 which is similar to this CPU, and I've been looking for anything to represent my build and this just proved it to be somewhat viable. I am replacing the 180w psu with a 220w one and a 24 pin to 6 pin adapter, along with adding another 8 gigs of ram to make it 16, and adding some fans and storage. But I just wanted to say thanks for helping my research. Let me know any ideas you guys have for this build (it wont be my main PC this is just a fun side project)

  • @AI.Musixia

    339 for a old cheap pc and a gpu is a bit okayish but with 339$ you can build it your own without a old dell and a 3050..
    but all is better then no gaming :D

    I was thinking about buy the original case of M920T, mas costs 140 euros. Other way is try to use a normal case, but I would to adapter so many stufs....
    Other way is to buy a new RTX 4060 low profile.... arround 350 euros, so expensive.

    Been doing metalwork for over 40 years....those " Yellow " are straight cutting snips...the " Red " and " Green " snips are also needed to cut easier and less...uhh..." Medieval " !! they allow you to cut properly when you want a nicer part....still takes talent though !! 🤣 and like others said...remove everything from case and you won't short out your computer... you can file and fix your messy and dangerous sharp jagged work..😂 been building computers since early 90's too...( 1990's ).. takes no real time to pull everything out of a sff case and you can safely work and not risk a " dumb " mistake.... real dumb mistake with those cuts !! 🤣 sorry...i see alot of hack work online... and seen it when i worked too.... 🇨🇦🤓🤟

    17:05 you don’t need to put on low settings with upscaling, this makes no sense as the GPU isn’t even half used.. Just play medium native res and you’d get the same fps without the awful visuals
