Great instructive video . My old '68 KO has sticky shifting, hopefully the problem is only the shift drum stopper arm and it has not damaged the gears, etc., as you described. I am surprised at all the videos that show old trail 90's, etc. that start up and shift properly after 20 years. If you don't have the proper JIS and special tools, and expertise, and money to gather parts, don't buy an old trail bike unless you can verify that it runs and shifts properly. Paying somebody to overhaul an engine/trans can cost more than bike is worth.
I’ve taken the clutch pack out to put in new discs. shifting the gears it doesn’t seem to go into all 4 gears . It goes into 3 gears and neutral but hangs up on, usually 3 or 4. When I say hangs up I mean it sits on top of the hump of the shift drum thing without going all the way into the indented notch. Would you please provide me with your thoughts. Thanks. I took a video.
Hi, I have a question on shifting on a 1979 Honda Ct90. I just got done over hauling the engine, started on first kick ran nice. Then I found out that the transmission is shifting backwards, with no neutral. I know I am going to need to disassemble the engine, but I have no idea what I should be looking to do at that point. Can you advise me or point me to a video that will explain it? Thanks
I got an 84 125m and I just put the motor back together and it won’t shift properly, goes half way into first and that’s it, I’m thinking the drum isn’t lined up properly, is there any way tell what position the drum needs to be in for it to work right?
My bike was slipping, popping in and out of gear and grinding gears. I rebuild the clutch on my CT110 thinking that was my issue. I'm still having the same issue. Any ideas?
My 75 ST90 shifts into all three gears fairly smoothly, but when I downshift back from 3rd to 2nd and 1st, the bike gets a little jumpy into those gears. Do you know what is causing this gear-jump? Thanks!
Select high H or low L (in neutral) with lever under sub transmission housing . High for the roads and low will provide more torque (but slower) for the trails and steep terrain.

Thanks for the video. Nice to see it in close up action

Can you make a quick video of the installation of those gears for a roughly 68 ct90 and their orientation

Do you do repair work? If so please let me know how and where you are in the county. Trail 90 1973 won't shift into 2nd, all other gears work

hello Dave
do you know if any of the china top ends bigger the better will fit on the yamaha raptor 80cc
Yeah where to get transmission parts in usa?
What type of trx motor was that? And can you fit it into a trail 90 chassis?
My shift drum is totally stuck. its a trail 90. do I have to split the case or is there another way. its stuck in netural.
mine is the opposite (1968 CT90K0), it can't go into neutral. Hope i don't need to split the case.
@@BasVossen Have you checked the shift stopper? They break quite often. You can see it after you remove the right side cover.
Can any body tell me why sub transmission in ct90 what does it do??

@@wanpaku3279 high mean engine power to wheel when sub transmision not in work and low mean sub transmission in work for tourqe ???
@@aliqadri4672 Correct. That's the basic principle. the 2 options H and L produce a different output ratio.
Hondas have always been quality but the ct90-110s have to have the most dogshit transmissions ever devised. Completely unreliable.
