I've always been careful to ensure the lie of my irons was flat. Unfortunately, my shots were erratic due to varying the distance my stance was to the ball. I tried your setup routine with great results. I'm now interested to try the toe up and down to effect shot shapes. Great lesson, Coach. Thanks!
Always good to be reminded of the basics Coach. I have been developing some poor habits and it is beneficial to go back to first principals to rebuild confidence.
Love the insights Coach! I’m fitted about 1 or 2 degrees up. I’ve been that way for a few years and I’ve had my irons checked every year. I’m actually surprised how stable my irons have held the lie angle, but I will definitely be paying a little more attention at address regarding the loft at set up! Thanks bruh! Hopefully I can narrow the fade on my long irons.
I think improving my dynamic lie was the thing that helped my ball striking the most. Once i started getting the handle lower, everything improved. Never measured but i could see on video that the shaft was around 10 degrees more upright at impact than address, so maybe 6-8 degrees toe down at impact. Now I'm only a couple of degrees higher handle at impact.
One of my favourite things I ever learned about lie angles was one of Mark's videos with Titleist. I can't remember the player, but some pros use it to change start line despite it being somewhat backwards: the player liked to fade the ball, but he actually likes his clubs upright to ensure the ball starts left of his aimpoint rather than hitting push-fades. On paper anyone would've made his clubs flatter. Just found it interesting that it was done in dpite of ground contact🤯
Up..... Down......Flat.....Upright, think i got it coach. Thank you. Hoping to go for a fitting in the next couple of weeks for new irons. Must remember this set up drill.
Nice matt !! Ironically have just had a custom fit , and came away with the complete opposite setup to what i have ! Shaft different weight , 1 degree flat , (out to in swing) strike ) ai smoke irons 😂😂😂😂
Been hooking every club in my bag except driver consistently everytime. Been trying to concentrate on holding the face open. Might just try standing a little closer and more upright next time on the range. Cheers
I have had 2 fitters measure my height and wrist to the floor. They said 3 to 4 degrees up right. I hit a draw and my miss is a hard pull or over draw. Why would i be upright. they didnt even see me swing. I trust myself. I like +.5 and standard to 1* flat,. It works for my swing. That got me down to a 6 hcp. Well chipping and putting did.lol
May i make a comment that may help some ....i have been fitted a couple times now ....ping/ callaway ....and i always end up getting fit for a 1 degree flatt lie angle .....but i found on the course i strike the ball better with a standard loft ....especially in the ping ....red dot is what i always end up fitted for but always buy black dot now ....because i have found that from different lies and depths of grass i just strike the ball better with a black dot ....very important even if you get fit ....to do some on course shots ....and with ping its no problem ....they will gladly move their clubs 2 degrees either way most of the time free of charge once you have been fitted and bought from them ....
Great lesson Coach!! Most of the courses I play you rarely get a flat lie ( even some of the tee boxes.. Lol) Have a great day!!
Love the new hat!!

Was it irons you already owned or did you get fitted and had irons ordered?

Have fun! Hope you get some nice new bats
Great video. If my irons have the wrong lie angles for me could a good club pro adjust them to fit me?
Depends what clubs they are. Forged heads are easier to bend 👍
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Gold.
