I remember when this song came out. 2pac was locked up in jail and his album came out at #1 on billboard. And he made history for the being the only artist to have a #1 hit album without no promotion and locked up in jail. This album was & is an instant classic. I played the hell out of that album. 1995 was a great year for hip hop music. But also a bad year for hip hop. The year hip hop got real ugly and turned west coast vs east coast into a national thing. I remember people were picking sides. Lost 2 of the best MC's to ever do it and do it big.
    #RIP to 2pac & Biggie.

_I hung around with the thugs and even though they sold drugs, they showed a young brutha love_ That part always gets me. It really makes you think about how kids end up in gangs. They see it like a group, a family where they can get the love they aren't getting at home. It's sad because it's a trap and they either end up dead or in jail.

I see your point but even Dennis Roadman lived with drug dealers but he never did drugs nor did he do drugs during that time, most drug dealers become drug dealers because of their environment, when they see you talented or are smart, they’ll actually advise you not to get involved and stick with your talent or smarts. Remember no Eazy E drug money they’ll be no N.W.A

Reminds me of when me and my mom were kicked out and had no where to go, we stopped on the side of the road on the reservation (im native), going from town to town looking to stay on someones couch. She started crying and all i could think was to play some tupac cause it always gave her hope. We ended up staying at her dealers house for that night. 2 Pac was a very smooth lyricist for sure. I tease my work colleague who is a huge fan that how much Thug credibility can you have if you were in the band who did the Humpty Dance....JK. Later on - I started breaking him down musically and knew some of his stuff was very special.

I watched this video because I really like your reviews and to hear what you say about the song. I'm not too into Rap music but this song has a catchy tempo and a melody added to it.The lyrics are straightforward and has a message. It is like storytelling. Trey, I always like how you set up the song with researched information, and your comments are solid and straight on, and your mother did really good at reviewing and commenting with very good insight. You both gave this song a very high rating. My rating would be for the music a 7.5 but for the lyrics an 8.5. Nice job.

I'd give it a 10 all day long and here's why.. Who else wrote songs like this in the rap industry, especially back then! He showed every single side of himself through his music. No one was singing songs to their mom as a rapper. He made songs like this popular. In a time when it was about how hard you were.
Brenda has a baby was a story of a young girl.. He actually read about in the NY times(he was bringing awareness). The things he was doing was so ahead of his time! He wore his heart on his sleeve and wanted people to pay attention. He wanted to change the world through his story telling!
I'm not sure how much you know about Tupac Amaru Shakur. But I'd encourage you to do some research on him. Theirs actual college courses on 2pac and his poetry(being taught). He's also wrote up rules that gang members actually followed(2 protect the public). He got the bloods and the crips to come to a truce at one time.
Sure you would rather there not be gangs, wars, violence at all. But he knew what was possible and what wasn't(mb in time if he was still here). He would go to poverty stricken neighborhoods and make promises. He'd say things like, if theirs no violence for x amount of time.. He would come with some other artists and throw FREE concerts.
He could communicate, relate and unite people from all different backgrounds. He was special, very intelligent and had a gift from God. The things he was doing was very unique and so far ahead of his time. So much so that people wanted to knock him down a notch. He was SETUP for a rape that HE DIDN'T COMMIT. I'd advise you to look INTO THAT as well.
I know your a review channel and not a Tupac fan per say. But if you like studying very INFLUENTIAL PEOPLE in history.. You'd be very surprised to learn Tupac was ALOT MORE then a RAPPER. More then an actor, poet, writer, artist and political activist. He had goals of being in POLITICS, talking to the president and much more.
Tupac Shakur was setup several times as well as murdered. He was only on this Earth for 25 YEARS yet done so much. He said "I might not change the world".. "But I guarantee, I will spark the brain of someone who will." I believe If he was alive today the world would be a BETTER PLACE.
He had that type of an IMPACT on people. So much so.. That after almost 25 years(23+) people still talk about him today! The conspiracy theories make it even more intriguing.. He changed his name to Makiavelli right before he was killed..
Like I said I know this may not interest you.. I know you were just doing a review on someone before your time. But he wasn't your ordinary entertainer, rapper or movie star. I think with the detail you went into in your review.. You'd appreciate him that much more..
If you knew what he stood for and what he was about. But either way good review bro! From a Christian but huge Tupac fan! I don't idolize anyone but I do respect what he tried to accomplish.

@@ReactionsToTheClassics Yw and I think you'd be intrigued. He was so ahead of his time and done so much in so little time. He knew he didn't have long on this earth and didn't waste a min of his time. He was as ambitious as he was intelligent.
