Afeni Shakur, Tupac's mother was one of the Black Panthers. She actually died in 2016, so she passed away 20 years or so after Tupac, and was alive to appreciate the song.
Rosie the Rose Girl she was murdered because she didn't want that biopic All Eyez on me. She said no and they still did the movie and they continued to millions off of her sons legacy.
Rose Girl Thank you for talking about Afeni Shakur. It was because of her Tupac was the man he was. Tupac was so far ahead of his time because of her and the people and experiences she exposed him to. He will always be a God in the hip hop / rap world.
Nomo 4u I was just thinking the same thing! Before I came here to this channel I just watched the “Texas Country Boy” react to a bunch of rap videos … I love all of this stuff that is happening right now! 💖💖💖

I wouldn't know a thing about metal or metal artists, so it means a lot that you guys are not disrespecting the culture at all you are merely trying to understand it. Thank you for being open minded about different music. I grew up listening to 2pac and I still do.
Robinson Bc Is this sarcasm?? I'm gonna assume it is, because these guys literally think there are only three roads out of the ghetto....hip hop, drugs or basketball. Now, I get that they're trying. I give them credit for that. But open-minded they are not. They seem to have a lot of trouble relating to people who aren't in their socioeconomic bracket.
@@bipolarbear9952 the only prejudice is coming from YOU towards them. Read these lyrics by Biggie which you can hear many iterations of in the earliest HIP-HOP up until present day. Geto Boys - Mind Playing Tricks On Me This song dives into the mind and thought process of a person living the gang life. Great narrative and I really would like to hear your thoughts on this track
I agree with you. It's a great song. It's a strong message and a deep story rapped over a beat which makes the song so easy and fun to listen to. Actually gonna go listen to it now

RDO made a really good point at around 9:26, you said that these lyrics are relatable to most people. Universal themes like this are part of why I think 2pac was so successful. At the time of this release either this album, or this individual song went to number one on the charts, beating out Bruce Springsteen.
+Blah 0o 2pac barely succesful? Dopehead. He was Broke when he died because Suge stole owed him. Plus he was the type of guy to take care of all his people

Man I still get chills by this song and it's been 12 years since I first played it heard it. Pac is culturally the greatest figure in Hip-Hop, very versatile.
2Pac didn’t want to song about his mom and single mothers with some super aggressive complicated style. It just a tribute song for sure like you guys pointed out. And his mother outlived him. The best thing about rap, you're explaining a short story through your words. You could rap about anything, drugs, woman but the best rappers are the ones that talk about life and positive energy.
It’s funny because I’m just the asian kid who lives far away in Malaysia, and this song was probably one of my fav childhood’s song. My uncle used to played every single of Tupac’s song since I was 8/9 years old. Now I’m 24 and still a big fan of Tupac. Just how big the influence of his music throughout the world.

I just wanna say I appreciate you guys open mindedness because that is exactly what it takes to sit down and listen to a genre you normally wouldnt and no less. Tupacs mom was alive when he made the song she was in the music video in the beginning that was her speaking. And guy to the left you're right most of everyone can appreciate certain aspects of dear mama because most of everyone loves their mother and feels the same way no matter what race or where you're from.
I really respect and appreciate what you guys try to do with these types of videos. Turning off what you know and love to be open to listening to a different genre is big. much love and respect.
TheBd62 that song hits! It's rhythmic, bombastic, and dynamic in every sense of the word. Definitely an excellent contrast tonaly verse what they've been listening to thus far.
I really admire you guys for doing these videos and giving other people's culture and music a chance. You guys have a lot of heart for doing so. I personally am a man that likes every single type of music so it means alot to see you guys doing these videos. You are appreciated haha
Tupac wasnt much of a lyricist...he wasnt trying to do metaphors and make his rhymes all fancy and lyrical. He got to the point to make you feel and understand what he was trying to say. Most of his music is like that and thats what most people love about him. I like lyrical rap too dont get me wrong but Tupac is something else. When i listen to Pac, it feels like he’s sitting next to me talking to me directly. Nobody else has ever done that. His words touch your soul and you can tell songs like this really came from his heart! This is a true story and as a grown man that has heard this song a million times, my eyes still water up. Thank you for taking the time to listen to Tupac!
Great Reaction!! Maybe you guys should do a little research post listen?? Also maybe a poll of most popular suggests would be a good way to knockem all out ?
I really like mathemetics, but i would choose blackstar thieves in the night. It has a great messige in it. And i would love to hear MF DOOM beef rap, all caps, fancy clown or basicaly anu song from DOOM.
Btw, you can't really judge an artist off of one song. You guys should pick (at least) a handful of songs for each of the artists you react to. Tupac is an artist whose style changes from song to song and even from album to album. This song isn't one of his most lyrical and certainly not the most aggressive song he's made. This song is monotonous but fits his particular purpose at that moment. :)
Excellent review of the song. we need more people like you guys that actually have an open mind to listen to other music genres outside of what your used to. And i appreciate you guys for that. One Love
Initially I was skeptical when I clicked on this but found your video interesting. My suggestion is maybe research a little more into the artist and get an idea of they’re mindset and personality so when you hear the music you get a deeper understanding. Keep up the great work!
What I find especially fascinating about your videos is that they’re giving you an insight to a world you might not have even considered previously. Testament to music’s power and ability to build bridges between worlds.
This is freakin' AWESOME! 😆Kendrick is from Compton, California. 2Pac was born & raised in New York, moved to Baltimore, Maryland, then moved to Marin County (San Francisco Bay Area) as a teen then finally moved to Los Angeles area before his passing. I was raised primarily on rap & r&b but during middle school i fell in love with Iron Maiden, Megadeth and now listen to Death, Vital Remains & 2pac as well!!
I love that you guys are branching out. And yes, you picked up on the fact that 2Pac was a poet. He grew up writing poetry, has a couple books of poetry, the most famous is The Rose that grew from the concrete. The most versatile Hip Hop artist of all times. From Brenda's got a baby and Dear Moma to Hit em Up, to So Many Tears, and Picture me rolling. Keep it up guys. BTW, his Mother was an original Black Panther, that's why she was in jail and what gave him his political grounding.
This is a genius way to make your channel grow. Who doesn't want to watch two metal heads (who look exactly how you picture a metal head) listen to tupac
I found you guys by accident while watching other reaction videos. I have been a fan of Tupac's because of Dear Mama. His window of being in the business was rougly five years before his death in 1996. For the last 20 years or so, several posthumous albums have been released due to Tupac having so many unreleased tracks with several artists over the past 20 years involved on those tracks. I think it is awesome you guys are from a different genre and mindset during your respective lives that you have opened your mind to something new like the rap genre. Growing up, I was the athlete/preppy white guy who really didn't like rap music but did listen to R&B and soul music. My best friend was the typical stoner kid from the 80's who listened to Metallica, Megadeth and Iron Maiden. It wasn't until the early 90's when Biohazard and Onyx teamed up that when rap/metal became a sub genre. Many will say it was Aerosmith and Run DMC's Walk This Way started it all but it was Biohazard and Onyx. You guys are cool and honest with your reactions to Dear Mama and I look forward to watching more of your videos. Sorry for the rant lol
I saw a documentary about 2pac awhile ago and they were drawing comparisons between his rap style and how Martin Luther King would preach, as well as how Malcolm X use to deliver his speeches. Always thought that was an interesting comparison.
This is a great song. Such a powerful and deep message. Tupac fit a whole story into a 3 minute song - and he had a way of doing that with all of his songs
Ive watched this video a few times and it’s really refreshing to see people like yourselves appreciate Tupac! You should watch one of his interviews, it will put his raps into perspective! Love from Walsall in the UK Just to add, coming from the uk and coming from a single mother not well off family. Rap isn’t a meal ticket. It starts as a way to vent and for people to listen, often it isn’t easy to vent your anger or upset as a man. Rap is the best relief there is!
Dont be afraid of the blonde guy insulting people, he is a gem and should be allowed to say whatever he wants because he comes off as genuinly good person, Dark haired dude a little less so. Tupac's mom Afeni is worth Wikipediaing herself as far as her involvement with the Black Panther party and her eventual arrest. Tupac, and perhaps that means Dr. Dre is responsible for laying the blueprint for a lot of Rap albums after this one. Everyone had a Mama song after Tupac and everyone had a dance track and a soft track. Keep em coming these are a real joy to watch.
The face of the guy with no glasses is funny, he seems like what the hell is happening. But great reviews guys. It’s nice to see metal heads open minded like this. Have a nice day xoxo keep up the vids, love from Canada

You got a new Sub! I like how you guys have honest thoughts and are open minded and give your true opinions and really judge a song right away. You give it a chance
I don't know how TH-cam brought me to this video but after watching I appreciate what you two are doing. To help add some perspective to one question/observation you had, people coming from the more impoverished neighborhoods in urban America are initially trying to be hard working, educated citizens in this country. Because of the various hindrances in the system since slavery "ended" it has been a more difficult road for many. You are taught that the streets only lead you to death or prison but when you are struggling as a family to make ends meet, some feel a "by any means necessary" approach is the best or only route because you mainly see violence, drugs, prostitution, gangs, and fast money and you just want to get out. It's literally survival and unfortunately many of us from these areas don't see the benefit of education during our school years because of these struggles. So any talent that can be seen as quickly as possible we try to cultivate as much as possible so for many it does seem that the only options are selling drugs/illegal street activity or playing a sport professionally or entertainment. Although there are many that do make it out of these conditions through education to live successful lives in their fields, because statistically it is said many from these conditions won't live past the 16-18 year old range, many can't see themselves going this route and ignore the examples of those who made it out through education because of those likelihoods. The feeling of hope being replaced by hopelessness and so just do whatever to live as well as possible for today. Good job on the video
There's a genre out there called death rap. Look into -Necro "revenge" And off topic Jedi Mind Tricks - "uncommon valor/ vietnam story" is a good song as well
This is an interesting channel. I appreciate the attempt to understand other concepts of music. I like how this song seemed to grow on you as it continued. This is a hood classic. No one dislikes this song.

Big L - Put it on, one of my favourite lyrical tracks
This song is beautiful ! I Always remember my mom when i listen.
Adrian same man
Since you've done both east and west coast it might be time to try southern with bombs over Bagdad by outcast
TheBd62 that song hits! It's rhythmic, bombastic, and dynamic in every sense of the word. Definitely an excellent contrast tonaly verse what they've been listening to thus far.
Definitely OutKast, not BoB if it’s my opinion. I’d say something like Atliens or da art of story telling
Agreed! but I think bob is more accessible
Payo's Girlfriend Atliens for sure!
UGK
Something by Mos Def. I think "Mathematics" would be a good one.
Collymotion Very true.
I really like mathemetics, but i would choose blackstar thieves in the night. It has a great messige in it.
And i would love to hear MF DOOM beef rap, all caps, fancy clown or basicaly anu song from DOOM.
Yes do Mos Def!
Yes this needs to happen. Also New World Water by Mos Def, would be really good if they wanna get deep into analyzing the lyrics and meaning
Traveling man
Btw, you can't really judge an artist off of one song. You guys should pick (at least) a handful of songs for each of the artists you react to. Tupac is an artist whose style changes from song to song and even from album to album. This song isn't one of his most lyrical and certainly not the most aggressive song he's made. This song is monotonous but fits
his particular purpose at that moment. :)
Excellent review of the song. we need more people like you guys that actually have an open mind to listen to other music genres outside of what your used to. And i appreciate you guys for that. One Love
Love your videos guys. You're the best in TH-cam with your sincere reactions. PEACE!!
Common - I used to love her
Valentin Hadzhiev yessss
Only if they want to listen to one of the best rap songs of all time.
Initially I was skeptical when I clicked on this but found your video interesting. My suggestion is maybe research a little more into the artist and get an idea of they’re mindset and personality so when you hear the music you get a deeper understanding. Keep up the great work!
2pac - hit em up! Aggressive angry
GZA- 4th chamber (or anything from liquid swords)
b_RZA Yes please!
They will like
they should deffinetly do something from that album
YA YA YA
anything from classic WU TANG actually
Dude you’re so right!! This is driving music!!! :)
React to Notorious Thugs
Kendrick Lamar is from California. Immortal Technique is from NYC
As you listen to more hip hop you’ll just instinctively know where they’re from (for the most part and dependent on era).
This is my favorite all time hip hop/rap song...I'm a metal head, but like all sorts of music
This is the first full song about mothers in Hip Hop. Truly pioneering
I saw a documentary about 2pac awhile ago and they were drawing comparisons between his rap style and how Martin Luther King would preach, as well as how Malcolm X use to deliver his speeches. Always thought that was an interesting comparison.
Kwelar wow, I never realized that. Once you say it, it’s so obvious.
2pac had a similar ideology to Malcolm X.
Tupac "if I die tonight" .. a shit ton of alliterations in this song (you were warned lol)
Tupac "hail mary"
Tupac "keep ya head up"
Tupac's mom was a Black Revolutionary.... #BlackPanther
Joseph King The guys who made the video didn't know that. Take several seats.
SpacePriestess Thank you!
Joseph King You're an aggressive anonymous prck for no good reason. What's wrong, Skipper?
This is a great song. Such a powerful and deep message. Tupac fit a whole story into a 3 minute song - and he had a way of doing that with all of his songs
Ive watched this video a few times and it’s really refreshing to see people like yourselves appreciate Tupac! You should watch one of his interviews, it will put his raps into perspective! Love from Walsall in the UK
Just to add, coming from the uk and coming from a single mother not well off family. Rap isn’t a meal ticket. It starts as a way to vent and for people to listen, often it isn’t easy to vent your anger or upset as a man. Rap is the best relief there is!
Try some Bone thugs and Harmony perhaps? Maybe "crossroads"
TheBd62 good one
Yeah..a lot of good songs from est 1999
TheBd62 definitely gonna need to read those lyrics lol
Mo Murda seems like a song metal heads might like, too.
Yeah or 1st of tha month
Tupac - shed so many tears
yes, great song!
That one guy I love that Stevie Wonder harmonica sample on the song
That one guy excellent track 👌🏼
One of my favs
Dope how you guys are 100% honest. I like that you had open minds to the hip hop culture. Y'all got a sub from me!
The face of the guy with no glasses is funny, he seems like what the hell is happening. But great reviews guys. It’s nice to see metal heads open minded like this. Have a nice day xoxo keep up the vids, love from Canada
Tupac mother was a black panther.
Yes, so true
what how seriously!? Panthers aren't indigenous to USA tho
@Pepe The Platypus huh
@Pepe The Platypus what does based me sorry lol

Gang Starr - Moment Of Truth, Above The Clouds, Full Clip, You KNow My Steez, Royalty
NaS - I Gave You Power
You got a new Sub! I like how you guys have honest thoughts and are open minded and give your true opinions and really judge a song right away. You give it a chance
I love your open minded reviews. Have listened to that since I was a kid and it's cool to see y'all look into something different and relate to it.
Lauryn Hill - Doo Wop or Lost Ones
Carol Lopez yeeeesssss!!!!
Bone Thug's N Harmony - Crossroads
The video would be better if you put the music video on the screen somewhere
I really respect your guys open mindedness. Keep it up. That's what this country needs more of
This song always got me emotional man
Tupac Shakur Miss you Pac😭
Should think so, you wrote it.
Scarface-the suicide note or Ghetto boys- mind playing tricks on me
There's a genre out there called death rap.
Look into -Necro "revenge"
And off topic Jedi Mind Tricks - "uncommon valor/ vietnam story" is a good song as well
This is an interesting channel. I appreciate the attempt to understand other concepts of music. I like how this song seemed to grow on you as it continued. This is a hood classic. No one dislikes this song.
Loving your honesty and the respect you both bring to these reactions.
Do Big L Put it on
Liberals Killed Hip Hop I FLOWS SO ONE OF MY SHOWS WOULDN'T BE CLEVER TO MISS I'M LEAVING COMPETITORS PISSED TO TELL U THE TRUTH IT GETS NO BETTA THAN THIS!!
You guys should listen to accordion - Madvillian
Or the blacker the berry - Kendrick Lamar
Nah, your taste is boring.
Your taste in music?
Lets just all be cool naah you will start feeling his shit one day, he is an important part of the essence that is Hip-Hop.
Perfect
''realised his music was boring...''
2pac- So many Tears
I've always felt like metal and hip-hop had more in common than not. At their core, they're both the music of outsiders.
2Pac always has that vibe that made you feel chill but wanna cry at that same time... 🙌 RIP
I swear they were pausing to stop from crying
