Cool story, Pat was in Grade school and every kid had to sing a song for music class, when Pat finished her song, the teacher grabbed her by the arm and took her to the principal and had her parents called, poor Pat had no idea what was going on, when her parents got there the music teacher said to them, do you know how good your daughter sings!
2003 my husband had retired in 2000, when crossroads came on, we did not know Pat and bob said oh no she is going to sing that song! We were blown away, we had 7 children and heard all kinds of music but not her, I told my third child who is a grown man do you know her? he says yea mom in high school ' 80 I guess we snuck off to Baton Rouge to see her in concert!!!

I LOVE Pat and Martina! I left an abusive marriage on June 21st 2012 and I call that my "Independence Day". This song totally reflects what I was dealing with back then. I left Huntsville, Alabama en route to Dover, Delaware in a '98 Riviera on one of the hottest days of that year. I had a few thousand bucks in my pocket and no real plan. Two years later I was on my way to South Korea after the Air Force decided to station my second husband there. Seven years later I earned a BA in Transportation and Logistics Management. Now, nearly nine years later I am two months from a MA in Supply Chain Management. My abuser told me that I was stupid and that no one would love me. I guess that he was wrong! I hope that all abused women find their own Independence Day.
