the thing with this game is that if you don’t skate irl the controls seem really hard to understand and feels not logical… but if you skate irl you can just think about how you would do it irl and the controls make alot of sense and feel amazing… like riding switch just feels like im riding switch irl its amazing

It's by far the most intuitive control scheme from an actual skateboarding perspective. It's a Skate Sim. It's not meant to be easy.

Right. Look at EA Skate new recent trailer views then look at how many viewed this game. Bottom line some want the easy route. This game makes it so rewarding when you complete a line.
@@th3rd3arplan3tradio It’s not even about taking the “easy route”. Some people just want to pick up and play without having to learn and get adjusted to new controls and that’s totally fine too. Both are valid.
It's actually really cool. The controls sometimes make me feel like I'm 16 again trying a new trick on repeat. It takes time but games like these are always worth it to me.
man even if you’ve never skated in real life, if you try this game and love it, you go around the map, find one cool spot and try your trick over and over again unto the rail while having fun despite failing over and over until you nail the trick and get that satisfying feeling, you pretty much have the heart of a skater
From what I've seen, the reason that sometimes your skater just collapses while pushing on your board is because you're Mongo pushing, when you push regular it doesn't seem to happen.
I'm goofy and don't push Mongo. This needs to change. Left foot push right foot top of board. Simple...

Exactly this game was never for gamers it as designed for skaters who happen to be gamers as well. Big difference.
Controls are DEFINITELY hard but because they're so complex they offer a really really high ceiling for how real you can make your skating look. Overall loving this game.
Purely from a vanilla game standpoint, this game is 10x better than Skater XL, has pretty much everything XL fails to have, from built in stats menu, to a bigger trick selection to more and bigger maps. Some animations are still a bit rough but it's more forgiving when you can tweak physics at least. Creature actually listen and know what the community wants unlike Easy Day who blatantly disregard the in game stats menu request for XL. 100% recommend Session if you're on console or just wanna play the vanilla game.

This is a garbage compared to SXL. Play it with mods! Session has a huge input lag, tricks are robotic..etc. Only cool thing is the quests.
Coming from a years long vanilla console xl player, I’m 100% with you. This game is exactly (minus some animations) what xl was supposed to be like. I’m absolutely loving it!

Game is legit epic. Probably was the toughest learning curve out of any game I've ever played but once you spend enough time with it (20-40hrs) the reward is seriously fun and addictive. Been skating for over 20 years game is heaven
Not wasting 49 hrs to learn any games controls...rather go out into my backyard and put 40 hrs into learning something new on my ramp
Love this game, owned it since 2019 and loved every minute. Wish they had multiplayer freeskate then it would be perfect.
Even the ability to invite just one friend woulda been great.

The PS5 version is a solid 9 for me. Runs like a dream and I’m truly blown away by how much they polished the game from the last beta update. Really there aren’t many bugs remaining, definitely nothing that kills the immersion for me. Fantastic game, the devs should be applauded.
That’s cap.. There definitely are still some bugs and areas of the game that need work that look wonky… HOWEVER, even with the game as is, it still plays amazingly and that is what impresses me the most. As long as creature studios continues to make improvements from this foundation, the sky is the limit for this game
@@Elevat3_KG compared to the last version, bugs in this one are miniscule. and as op said, none are bad enough to ruin the immersion while you're just skating around. while doing the quests is a different story though.
if they patch the glitches and bring a bit more liveliness to the game (npc’s, cars driving etc etc, this is the perfect. It’s what SKATE was back when it launched! 👏🏼
You can turn on npcs in the settings :D
there's moving cars in the highline bridge map, just look down from the bridge ;)

ProTip: found a awesome spot, save a replay there so you can fast travel to it

If y’all are having trouble getting on a rail or something for a mission- don’t forget you can put ramps from your DIY menu

Sadly they missed hard asf on this. Skate 1-3 on hardcore is a better sim.
It’s a 8.5 out of 10 for me. If some of the bugs got fixed and they made an online play it would be a 10

For those who are confused, session does infact teach you how to use the camera/editor. Play through the story!

Not as hard if you mess around with the settings it helps if you’re new to the game. Been waiting a few years for it to hit consoles and I’m having fun with it. Woulda been nice to invite a friend to skate around with tho.

As a person who actually skates. This game and skater XL are way cooler feeling than the skate series arcade feel but can be a bit much. Solid game

This review doesn't do the game justice. The spot creation feature is a game change, being able to place ramps, rails, and boxes gives endless trick and gap possibilities. Mildly obsessed with Session and it's not as hard as people are making out, pretty simple to pick up, difficult to master.
the game is fun especially if you know how to skate, makes putting lines together even more fun.
I'm glad these are getting more and more traction. Been tired of the arcade style 1080 Frontside flips across town off a 3 stair

Complaining about the fact that using the left analog stick makes you walk when not on the board is w i l d to me
Session is my goty. The game isn’t necessarily hard all around it’s just weird to get used to the controls and how certain tricks like grinds work. Once you get used to it it’s fairly easy to do more complex tricks. If you have the patience to think of a trick and try over and over again at one spot without getting mad the dopamine rush when you finally land it is almost like landing it in real life and with the map being so huge there are endless possibilities for new spots.

Would look visually more appealing if there were more pedestrians and moving vehicles. Even if not in the play space but around it or have the ambiance audio of a busy area. Kind of feels like you're all alone in dead silence.

Dude should’ve just said, “it’s a game by skaters, for skaters.” Any actual skateboarder will just need to get used to the controls then it feels exactly like skating. I’ve skated for over 15yrs, the controls are pretty on point, but yes there are some bugs, nothing to rage quit over. If you’re failing, you’re doing your sticks wrong.
Session is the best skateboarding game of all time and its difficult to learn just like real skateboarding.Its not 4 everyone,But neither is actual Skateboarding.
This is better than skater LX. And if turn on manual catch, it’s even harder but it’s still not a true manual catch like it was in the beta
Makes me think of EA Fight Night Rd 3, which used a 2 joystick control, one for each hand. They got rid of it for Rd 4 cause everyone complained it was "too hard".
Meanwhile to me and many others, there should be no other way.

Another butchered review made by people who spent a two hours on one of the most complex game. What a joke! At least put some people who are willing to learn new controls from a game instead of saying « it’s too complicated » cause here you’re sounds like exactly that Alien Resurection review from Gamespot in October 2000.

I'm happy that it was a free series x upgrade from the early access version for only $20. It does feel different though. The trick response just has a different feel to it.
Wish they added vibration support. It would go crazy with Dualsense’s haptics.

Ehhh. Not sure how much the reviewer actually played through the game. He mentions the game having a powerful replay system, which it doesn't teach you to use, following by how it has an expansive career mode. Had he actually played through it, he would know that there are multiple "missions" from Beagle that do just that, teach you how to use the entire instant replay system, including DOF and FOV. Oh and he pushed mongo in the footy....

What’s the point in putting all that effort in without being able to flex, needs some sort of multiplayer element in future updates to insure the longevity of the game. Bare in mind skate ftp is just around the corner. This hardcore approach does peak my interest thou

complaining about the complexity of a Simulation game seems kind of redundant to me. did you think you'd learn how to do everything in the game within the first hour? did you expect it to tell you how to use your imagination for how to approach certain skate spots?
right. the crazy thing is when the first Skate Came out it was the same talk. at the time everybody was used to THPS Controls and gameplay and skate was considered a "Hard Buggy Skateboarding Sim" now everybody love the bugs in Skate.

This was a great review! despite being a great game there are a few oversights and it really isn't finished quite yet.
The sudden spagettification is actually caused by the Physics animations that are under the experimental settings.
Are you sure he had that on though and it wasn't just random?
I’m pretty sure that bug where you fall randomly can be fixed by completely turning off the crouching/bank rate feature. Trying to turn too sharply with that feature turned on might cause problems.
I'm pretty sure you're referencing the wheel bite which can definitely be a reason why people fall off. It can be turned off in the board settings

creature studios has said that they will always being releasing new content in the months to come, from maps to skaters and gear. im SURE update patches to fix bugs will be in there somewhere.
