    I have a 2017 Toyota RAV-4 LE with AWD and I don't have any problems with it. I've had it for 4 years now, and I've never had any significant issues with how it runs and how it drives. Toyota always make high quality vehicles, and while their technology is not ground-breaking, it doesn't need to be. The car just has to run well, and so far that's all I needed. I'm not one for a car to be super amazing, interior wise or technology wise, but it just has to be good. It's a good vehicle to have. Toyota always make safe and reliable vehicles. Any Japanese-made car is very good, but especially with Toyota, they make very good ones.

    Ive been looking for a car with minimal computer/electronic presence and I believe this is it. I hate the key fob! I dont want a fancy smart car, I want a dumb car that uses the old school key and gets you from point A to B.. I do believe this is what Im looking for. Great review- Thank you!

    It's not the sportiest, it's not the most fun to drive, but it's a good SUV that handles well, great on fuel (in my opinion), and also just an overall reliable car. I always like Toyota's reliability, and with this car, it's a car that'll last a while. Don't go in expecting a highly technological car, but do expect a car that'll last you a long time and will be easy to drive and use.

    Great review and those are great small cross overs my sister drives a 2015 Toyota RAV4 XLE with AWD. In a couple of weeks it will be a year since she has had it. She loves it alot she traded in her 2012 Volkswagen Beetle to get it. Since it was not really great for the winter time. And she has to drive 30 miles on her way to work and back. So she wanted to get a small 4WD. Also my mom has a 2011 Toyota Venza with the 3.5 V6 with AWD. Toyota's are very great cars.

    I'd say this is a great vehicle. Yeah, you could say the plastics inside are hard (they at least give you soft armrests), or its missing some features (Apple CarPlay/Android Auto) but overall its pretty decent value for what you're paying. Up here in Canada, you also get heated seats, automatic headlights, heated mirrors (with the turn signals) as standard on the LE. Since this is one of the older models, you could probably get a good deal on it (I think 2019 is when the new one will be coming), making it an even better proposition given the standard safety features and its predicted reliability.
    I know a lot of people will disagree, but I think Toyota is playing it smart with their 2.5L engine and 6-speed auto. It works, it gives you enough power for what you need (my mom has an '09 with the 2.5 and the old 4-speed auto, its spirited enough), its still not bad on gas, but since the technology is proven, the "bugs" should be worked out and it should give you years of trouble free motoring. I think someone on a tight budget, who needs a reliable family vehicle (perhaps with all-wheel-drive) would be crazy not to check out the RAV4 LE.
    Great video review! :)

      Thanks Rob, ya the naturally aspirated 2.5 L 4-cylinder is a solid engine while it may not be the most powerful or fuel efficient you can count on it that it will be very reliable. The RAV4 is certainly one of the best entries in the segment especially given the fact that it offers so many standard safety technologies.

      I just bought this exact model and color this weekend. Even though it's from 2017, it only has 15,600 miles on it! I know a lot of critics favor the Honda CR-V over this, but it's perfect for my needs: a commuter car to get me and my kids to school, run some errands in the suburbs, and that's it. I don't plan on going off road racing :).

    Love this car. Got the same one. 2017 Rav4 LE FWD. Handles great, turns tight, SPORT mode DOES make Acceleration FASTER. My only problem with it is... it needs a BIGGER Gas Tank.

      Really? I've always had no problem with the fuel mileage on my RAV-4. I've always been able to go on highways and never have a problem with fuel. I've always been able to go from one place to another on the freeway only from one refill.

    Thank you for the review. No other reviewer talks about the hard plastic on the dash and front doors. In fact, Toyota doesn’t even document those in the trim comparison specs! XLE makes the top of the front doors soft plastic and the dash covered in faux leather, which really elevates the quality feel of the vehicle IMO.
    I think Toyota first designed the XLE, and then figure out all the ways possible to make it less appealing, to make the LE… lol

      @@mikehamilton9101 - No issues, the only issue I kind of have is when it is in ECO and you are at 0 to 60 on a highway merger, it is a little nerve racking to go from 0 to 60 in eco on a highway, the car does need a little more torque. However, when I put it in sport for 0-60 it definitely helps, I definitely reccomend using sport mode when you do 0 to 60 on a high way, if you're just yielding on highway from 20 mph to 60, eco is fine. Otherwise no issues, drives fine. I paid 18,500 for Le awd, but with taxes, PCO and on star, it came out to around the same as what you paid, about 24,000, but I bought mine in January of 2019.

    We bought our first 2017 toyota rav4 limited a month ago. After driving for a week, all of a sudden we smell vinegar coming out from air vent when AC is on. My kids start to feel sick smelling vinegar while driving. The smell was off and on and only when AC is on not on heat. We complained on toyota service. The guy told me they cannot do anything about it which sometimes it happen to brand new vehicle. He even told me that I have to deal with it. I was upset and told him that we own brand new vehicle before and never encounter smells like that. I insist that we pay a lot of money for Rav4 and I have to deal with awful smell and make my kids sick. We complaint to the service manager and offer to put a charcoal filter next week to prevent the smell.

    Hello , I am in desperate need help in clearing a doubt I had in my rav4, I thought you could probably know the answer to my question...so to begin I don’t live in the states, so the RAV4 I have is not the same as yours, we get the 2.0L version in my country. So I thought that the difference was only in the engine but a few days ago I ordered a replacement rear view mirror from the USA bc it was cheaper to bring and install than to take it to the dealer but when they installed it I realized that it was much smaller than the other one and now it looks asymmetric, one side with a bigger mirror than the other, so I was wondering two things, is it possible that the American version rav4 has smaller mirrors than the 2.0L ones or did I just get scammed and got an unoriginal toyota piece on Amazon?? If they are smaller I think I’ll just order the left side from the states as well so it doesn’t look bad, if you think I got scammed with a smaller unoriginal mirror I guess I’ll have to spend the extra buck on a dealer mirror 😕 thanks hope you could help( mines is the 2018 model btw; the mirror I bought supposedly fit the models from 2013-2018, but only the American models I guess)

    • @CameronsCarReviews
      @CameronsCarReviews  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Peter Stemniski Toyota wants to stay true to their roots of providing naturally aspriated engines because of mostly one thing only and that is reliability, which their brands reputation stays true to that. As you may know and generally speaking, turbocharged engines are much more expensive to maintain and repair. Turbocharged may provide better fuel efficinecy, but when it comes down to it Toyota is smart by providing most of their vehicles with non turbocharged engines.

    • @jgg204
      @jgg204 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      the RAV4 is at the end of this gen. the CRV is brand new. the RAV4 LE can be had right now for $22,500. no joke. to get all of the safety features included now standard, in the CRV, would be $28,000. Toyota knows the RAV4 model gen is dated and they are giving you rebates and cash incentives to compensate. now is the best time to get what is arguably the most reliable small SUV in the industry. more reliable than the CRV or anything else. even more reliable than the Forester which was plagued with oil consumption issues. the RAV4 drivetrain and engine are tried and true. you get a robust 6 speed auto transmission which has 10+ years of industry experience and little to no failures. the Honda CVT is not proven

      The one drawback with the Honda is that you’re stuck with the crappy CVT that doesn’t have a long term track record yet for reliability. I’ll take the 6-speed transmission on the RAV4 any day.

The interior materials are awful, the interior clock looks like it was pulled from a microwave and the engine is so buzzy and unrefined that it might as well have been a product of the late 1980s.
