    I honestly can't pick a side! There's pros and cons on both sides but, one thing that both tail types have in common is that they both are incredibly fin-tastic. ^D^

    The only thing about silicone thing i think is just they look so realistic❤ but fabric is just more easy to mermaiding in 😂 but they both are little expensive😪😂❤❤ but jea your right😂😂😂😂❤❤

    Yea! Fabric tails rock! Also, if you get bored of the color/pattern, its cheap enough to make another. And making your own tail is super easy, just go through Courtney's videos and you'll find her tail making ones. I've got about 10 tails, 7 of which I made myself. If I had to buy them, it would've costed me nearly $1k!! Shipping to Australia is not cheap either. So hence, I prefer to make my own tails rather than purchasing them.

    Personally If someone gave me a silicone tail, I would like literally be dying of happiness but I would pick neoprene over silicone if it was for how easy it was to swim in but silicone tails are beautiful

    I will hopefully be a fabric tail user soon, I'm designing it currently, having the fabric printed soon, and got the Luna 2 days ago so that's definitely going in there! It swims like a dream 💗

    I think if you are a professional mermaid that does shows or is around kids, you should have a silicone tail because it looks more realistic and if your around kids or performing, you want it to look realistic but if you are doing it for fun then I think a fabric one is fine
    Edit: thanks for the ❤️

    silicone tails are great special effects for serious professionals... for most of us fabric is far more useful and accessible... both have their place, and there should not be an elitist thing that fabric is somehow lesser

    Amazing video and great points, I'll probably never be able to afford a silicone tail, but I don't need to because we have so many amazing fabric tail makers, both indie and commercial! And for realism, it's so much better than it used to be, printing has gotten better and the ways you can upgrade an existing fabric tail are near infinite! Someone custom altered their finfolk fabric tail to have gold scale tipping and shading, and it's amazing! More fabric tail love!

    Hi Courtney! Not pertinent to this video but I have happy news. I attempted to do a bubble ring while swimming today, and I nailed it!!! The only issue is I'm very buoyant so I have to hold myself under with the pole by the steps, but I did it. My friend and her son were there with me and we were all so excited. I just wanted to say thank you for getting me back into mermaiding and reminding me of just how much I love it and love learning new things. I really appreciate it.

    Fabric tails because they're easy to clean and maintain, the stretch factor is nice, and it's really easy to redesign if you want to add sequins or pearls

    Yes. I only have on tail and it's a fabric one from FinFun. I love it to death, but, if I had the money I might invest in a silicone tail. But I'm like, 15 and I dont have a job, so..... that will probably never happen. But I do plan on getting the more fabric tails because they're so easy to use.

  •  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    A few years ago I went to AN in Toronto and had 2 fabric tails and 1 monofin with me. I used 1 at the convention (as mermaid Misty) and 1 for a photo shoot at the hotel pool. As I was traveling by plane, I was very limited in luggage and I also brought 2 more outfits for the convention and a week if normal clothes with me in 1 big suitcase.

  • @bluestar7255
    @bluestar7255 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    One reason I like fabric is because its superrrrrr stretchy. I got my first tail 2 years ago and i'm tall and grow a lot and my fabric tail fits still! but I dont like that you can see the seams or however you spell it on it.
    edit: I've never tried a sili tail but i think that beause the fabric tails are so stretchy it fits the fin super well. I don't have a fin yet but i'm saving up to get one!

  • @SerenityScratch

    I would love to see you make a silicone tail one day, regardless, I would love to see it
    PS. If you want an affordable full silicone tail, mertailor just came out with silicone tail skins for the fantasea fins, and they look incredible and are affordable

  • @kayana1391
    @kayana1391 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I love both! I used to pretty much only want silicone tails because of the realism but then I won a free Mertailor Eco tail and I got hooked. I now have 15 fabric and 2 silicone tails! (Plus 2 fabric tails I made as a kid but they're awful and don't fit anymore 😂) Fabric is so much more convenient, especially for recreation and practice. I use my silicone for photoshoots and bday parties this summer, but I always swim in my fabric tails (plus I have some photoshoots planned for my fabric tails this summer!)

    • @CourtneyMermaid
      @CourtneyMermaid  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nice! See that is what I love to hear! A mer who has their needs met using different sorts of tails is a wonderful thing! When people ask me why I prefer what I prefer I try to explain it in the way that it's because it's what works for me. Other mers need to find what will work best for them! So happy you are having wonderful mermaid adventures! ♥♥

    And I’ll probably still stick with mainly fabric after I make it too just so I don’t wear it out for the above mentioned reasons!! 😆
    Besides watching you make your designs... it has definitely changed me! I mean you totally rock!!!! I am making it a point to get one of your tails (someday) 😁

    Can't afford a tail that costs more than my "new" van. Also beyond the age when lugging around 50 pounds of gear is fun (been there, done that with scuba and living history and horses and things and stuff... done now).
    Love my simple, elegant Fin Fun tails. Easy to use, easy to get out of.
    They stretch with your own variations in size.
    Easy to modify.
    Might be able to afford a fabulous Courtney Mermaid tail someday.

    Hey ik your slots are filled right now but I absolutely LOVE your work. I've been slowly making my way through ur how to make a mermaid tail series the past week as I hav time. ANYWAY i was wondering bcuz i've been watching a LOT of mermaid stuff this week and its hard to keep everything straight, but do u make extra fins with your tails? Like pectoral fins, side fins, dorsal fins or any of that? Or are yours strictly body and fluke? I LOVE designing different tail designs and colors and one of my biggest struggles with considering buying a custom tail is picking a design. (Which btw this video convinced me fabric tails are a perfect solution to that) And yeah, thats mostly what I was wondering was about the extra fins.

    • @CourtneyMermaid
      @CourtneyMermaid  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am strictly a body and fluke designer at this time. If I can come up with a better way of making additional fins then I might do that in the future. Slots will be opening again August 13th! ♥
