    Can I just say, and this may be selfish but, I want your TH-cam channel to stay pretty small. I feel like I'm part of the pod and I LOVE and appreciate to death how much you interact with your fans. Like, Im actually 12 and I feel like I'm best friends with you and I love it no matter how awkward you think that is and would be. My future real life pod will consist of 2

    Your videos have been so helpful in my tail crafting journey! I started with just spandex to get a good fit and to practice swimming in with a monofin, then tried a different fabric, while pretty, failed a bit, got some thick scuba knit fabric and went to town on that with having so much fun sewing it. I ended up with three sets of fins, spending six hours hand painting scales, and many more hours stitching on sequins because I like the prettiness and I use it to hide my seams lol

    Rejoice! High waisted mermaid tails!
    Light blue, sky blue, any other shades of light blue, they disappear once you dive in. You can use this feature of the blues. For example, if you your monofin is a rounded one like a Rapid, you can design the tail colors to have that classic dip (the V dip) on it. Just leave a few centimeters of the blue spandex unpainted. When you go in the water, that part of the tail disappears in the pool and you still have a nice tail shape and the power of the uncut monofin.

    My very first mermaid tail (I got it when I was 12/13 ish) was made up of a pair of leggings where I cut the legs open and sewed them together, and the fluke was just bathing suit material. My grandma sewed everything together and I loved it to bits! The monofin were just a pair of flippers that I shoved through the opening where my legs came through too. It was bright blue and when I took it to the also very bright blue pool you couldn’t really see it anymore which made me very sad. Then for my birthday I got a finfun tail, the orange one. I danced around the living room with the package for at least half an hour before opening it 😅. But now I want to make my own mermaid tail and this video will help a lot!! I’m thinking dark blue, light blue and gray for the colors. I want it really realistic so I’m gonna practice drawing scales a lot. What monofin do you recommend? I like going fast and comfort! I love your videos!!!

      Hehe! You know me, I am a FINIS Luna girl through and through. What you’ll need to consider is things like how fast you want to go, how maneuverable you want to be and what you want the end of your fluke to look like. Watch lots of reviews (I have a few up on my channel) and go from there. Be sure to send me pics of your new tail!

    • @sapphire.skeletons5016

      @@CourtneyMermaid i really like the finis Aquarius design! But is that a good monofin to Just have fun in? I like going kinda fast (but not competitive mermaid fast) and Just playing around. Ive watched a lot of mermaid tail reviews on TH-cam but not a lot of monofin reviews so im gonna start with watching those. Could you maybe do like, a review of all your finis monofins? (Or Just ALL your monofins?

    • @kayana1391
      @kayana1391 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Sapphire.Skeletons the Finis Aquarius is good for going fast BUT it can poke holes through the fluke at the very tips because it is stiff and has no cover. So if this bothers you, you can either be super careful while swimming and prepared for that and make sure that you know how to fix it before you decide to go with the Aquarius, you could try making a neoprene cover for it like Fin Fun does if you have the money and are experienced at sewing, or use a thicker material for your tail so it takes longer for the Aquarius to poke holes through

      @OkamiLegend - Ha ha! I thought I was the only who called myself a manatee 🤣🤣🤣! I'm just starting out, and I had this stupid idea that I had to lose weight to be pretty enough to be a mermaid. I thought I'd make that my weight loss "incentive". But then I woke up one day and said, dammit, I AM ENOUGH! 🧜🏻‍♀️ And yes, manatees are cute, and they are what caused so many sailors around the world to believe they'd seen mermaids - so go the manatee!!! 🧜🏻‍♀️💕🐋🧜🏻‍♀️

    Color question: How would actual metalic, silver/steel (well, actually aluminium) scales look like underwater? Because I've found a rather glorious fabric with silver sequins *actually shaped like fish scales,* and *not* trying to use it for a tail would be a deadly sin.

      I wouldn't be able to tell you since I don't have the fabric here. Bring a swatch (a small square) of it with you to the pool next time you go and see what it looks like! Let me know how it goes!

    Do you have any advice if someone wanted to make a mermaid tail that had some extra padding or something around the knees and calves to make a smoother line under the fabric? Or if someone wanted to make an extended tail that went past the feet an extra several inches in order to avoid the obvious-heels look? Has anyone that you know ever attempted something like that?

    I want to make a pair of leggings with a fin on each foot. Kind of like the Creature of the Black Lagoon. I was pretty hype to get a mermaid tail but after some farther research I've decided that I would be more comfortable being able to move my legs independently. Especially since I swim in the ocean 90% of the time. I want to feel safe and also look like a sea creature. I'm pretty excited to give this a go... But I'm pretty sure I'll only get a quarter of the way through then fudge it all to Hell haha. I'm the worst at DIY haha.
    Also I hope things are going as smoothly as they can for you. I'm really sorry for you loss.
    I've recently come across your channel and I've been binge watching everything. You're very inspiring and it breaks my heart that you're unable to share your new creations with you Grandma. I personally think she can still see them in some sort of fashion but I know everyone's thoughts on that is different. Plus it just sucks to not be able to physically interact with het. If anything she definitely lives within you and I bet you have been greatly inspired by her and now that inspiration is being passed on to thousands of people 💕

    I have a question about tail crafting. I've personally never made a tail before and I just got a monofin, but I had a pretty extravagant idea for my first tail. I was planning on getting large sequins like seashells and sewing them onto a fabric base. The only issues are I don't know how much they would weigh or if it would even be possible, and how to do the design on the fluke because I'm gonna have the sequins go rounded in the front and sharp in the back (I stole that idea from another video). Any tips? Also I love watching your videos, not just for the mermaid tail stuff but also because you're just awesome!

    Have you ever made a video of how to properly store and dry your tail? I'm going to college in the fall and I reslly want to take my baby with me since it is a hobby that keeps me in some form of physical shape, but I'm worried the lack of space will make it dry improperly. Any tips?
