I just recently purchased one and am in so much LOVE. A little pricey, but because it’s my first tail, I went on the simpler side just to see if I would like it, and spent roughly about $400 on it. Unfortunately I’m not able to use it anymore right now because I’m currently 6 and a half months pregnant, but can’t wait to get back into it. Also, for those concerned, I’m 21 years old. BTW, extra tip for buying a full silicone tail: think about what you plan to do the most with your tail as the number and shape of extra fins will make an enormous difference. Multiple and long flowy fins will be the most beautiful but cause drag while swimming. They are best for closeup gigs in pools, dry events, tank work, photography and film. Tails with no extra fins are best for freediving and swimming in strong currents. The options in between are: fewer, smaller and flat fixed fins which are great for most situations and often have the added bonus of being harder to rip, thus best for children's parties. I know this is older at this point. Beyond having an income, the way is to prioritize what you want, budget, and be patient. Because you're likely still growing, making the investment soon-ish might not be an appropriate choice. That being said, you can pick up sewing, art/ prosthetic craft, network, etc. Build yourself up with skills and a knowledge base that you can work from for when you are in a better position or time to get a silicone tail. at that point, you would have already done a lot of the legwork and house keeping that goes into your hobby and potential career. That goes for anything that you are interested in doing. You have to focus and prioritize.

The year long wait is also normally because tail makers are very busy! Keep in touch with your tail maker if you feel like you have gained weight then remeasure and if they haven't started your tail just yet they can update it.

I really have to admire how smooth and how good her movements are there really good because even some professional mermaids I see been there likes too much and it just ruins the look of a mermaid but your moves they just perfectly go smooth and the wave motion your dolphin kicks are really good too I just can't get over how well your movements are just so satisfying than me because I get so frustrated when the people can't get the wave right I don't know why it's just a little weird thing about me but great job I really like your movements

I remember when I was the I wanted one from magic tail (not silicon) it was quite cheap with a combining bikini coating 140€ but my parents refused to buy it to me so I made it one of my goals to buy one when I have work and money (I want to be an Animator it would be quite cool together )
I know this is an older video but I feel this fits what some people in the comments want. There’s a website called ecrater that makes a sort of hybrid tail. They sell for 100-200 dollars but they aren’t custom fit. If your growing (teenager) or not sure about seriousness you might want to check them out! That’s what I’m going with for now. I’ll update when I get to swim with it.

Make sure the monofin fits your feet. I know the rapid monofin from Finis fits men feet size from 10-13. Also make sure it is long enough if you are tall.

Rcat Does games I know that some people put milk on their eyes before going in the salt water but I’m probably not gonna be doing that😆🙃 I’m not sure if that helps them see, but it helps their eyes not hurt
I'd suggest thinking on it for maybe a couple months. Make friends who have the same interest in this hobby so you know for sure you'd use it, because you can swim with them! And also be higher in age to make sure your body is finished growing otherwise that's a lot of money going to short span of use. Have fun! Silicone tails are actually very dangerous. The tails can be up to 25-55 pounds which is hard to swim in if you're not that experienced. Try getting a fabric tail.

Because at your age you can grow up a size in a day, I'd suggest sticking to fabric tails. Mertailor does have children sized fantasea fins and they are silicone but they are almost triple the price of fin fun

All tail makers have different wait times, talk to the makers and people who have bought their tails too. Mernation prides themselves in 3 weeks or less turn around time for silicone tails. It varies for each company

I don't know of specific groups, but It is more a few mermaid friends occasionally who organize a trip to go swimming together. Normally you can meet those mermaids at conferences. Aquamermaid is planning a conference this August great for networking and learning new skills.
Please make a video about environmentally conscious materials, and things that you absolutely must avoid in tail making. Understanding the construction can absolutely help the buyer in making a purchase.

My mom made my tail it’s not silicone tho but it’s fabric it only took a day so if you don’t want to wait just make a fabric one! (Easier)

I would say if it is your very first tail you should go for a fabric tail, but after a hybrid tail is the most economical option and they look great.

Diy lady u should try investing in a neoprene or fabric tail and silicone tails can be dangerous if u aren’t a really good swimmer because their heavy

I have a questin how do I see underwater if it's dirty e.g. a river and how do I keep my breath underwater?
Lps Lizzie just open your eyes. If you can't see then just swim without opening your eyes. And you might want to practice apnea for longer breathold.
You can hold your breath and you can blow bubbles which is like breathing out but idk how to open my eyes in water
I am going to learn how to make these even if it would be hard to do

I don't know of specific groups, but It is more a few mermaid friends occasionally who organize a trip to go swimming together. Normally you can meet those mermaids at conferences. Aquamermaid is planning a conference this August great for networking and learning new skills.
