Logic is a rap legend. I was late to discover that fact, but I have been listening to rap since 1986 and it is what it is.

I clicked on this for Ari, but wow!
Never heard of Logic before now but much respect for this young man! I’m glad he’s found his own identity and owns it regardless of the haters!
Not much into rap but I’m a fan of this guy 🙌🏼
    Great interview!

Ari Melber never ceases to amaze me. He has an intellectual background but has the ability to talk to people as his peers. Everyone is guided by their ego..Ari seems to have the ability to walk the 'road less travelled"..

his book: "This Bright Future" is 5 stars. "This Bright Future is a raw and unfiltered journey into the life and mind of Bobby Hall, who emerged from the wreckage of a horrifically abusive childhood to become an era-defining artist of our tumultuous age.
A self-described orphan with parents, Bobby Hall began life as Sir Robert Bryson Hall II, the only child of an alcoholic, mentally ill mother on welfare and an absent, crack-addicted father. After enduring seventeen years of abuse and neglect, Bobby ran away from home and-with nothing more than a discarded laptop and a ninth-grade education-he found his voice in the world of hip-hop and a new home in a place he never expected: the untamed and uncharted wilderness of the social media age.
In the message boards and livestreams of this brave new world, Bobby became Logic, transforming a childhood of violence, anger, and trauma into music that spread a resilient message of peace, love, and positivity. His songs would touch the lives of millions, taking him to dizzying heights of success, where the wounds of his childhood and the perils of Internet fame would nearly be his undoing.
A landmark achievement in an already remarkable career, This Bright Future "is just like the author-fearless, funny, and full of heart" (Ernest Cline, #1 New York Times bestselling author of Ready Player One) and looks back on Bobby's extraordinary life with lacerating humor and fearless honesty. Heart-wrenching yet ultimately uplifting, this book completes the incredible true story and transformation of a human being who, against all odds, refused to be broken."

Thank you for your synopsis of his book. Because, though it was mentioned in this interview, they didn't really discuss it. And as I'm not very knowledgeable about hip hop and rap artists, I didn't know about his horrible and heartbreaking childhood. It makes his success and frankly, the person he is (or seems to be based on this interview), all the more amazing and wonderful. And I'm a big reader, so am now very interested in reading his book after this interview and your synopsis of the book. Thank you. I look forward to the book, really enjoyed the interview and liked the young man and artist, Logic (Bobby Hall). Found myself very happy that he has come to the place that he is accepting and proud to be his authentic self, to just be who he is and be happy with himself, his wife and child, his talent and music and be able to ignore the negativity, hate, etc that may be thrown at him. That he takes his mental health and happiness seriously I am really happy for him and amazed and deeply touched now, knowing all that he has had to overcome to get there. That takes great strength of character, even for the average person with a normal, relatively happy, loving childhood to actually do.

This was really fun! Great interview! And I have to say I'm glad that Logic took that step away for a while, for his mental health, that he didn't become a sad statistic. He seems to be a really nice guy and pretty grounded. And I like that he came to the conclusion that what matters most is just being himself, who he is, and being quite happy with that. No longer giving space to the negativity and hate. It comes with age, if you are lucky, to become secure and happy in your own skin, so to say, to be your authentic self, fully accepting of who you are without listening to outside negativity any more. I'm happy for him. And I think his music will be even more prolific now because of that. Which is amazing to contemplate because he was already incredibly successful and prolific before. I think he will be more profound, while being fun and engaging at the same time. Serious but uplifting. Frankly I haven't ever been really immersed in hip hop, of course I have heard and enjoyed many of the best of them, the hits. I love music, though I have no talent, musically of my own, and enjoy a wide variety of musical genres. I am happy for this young talented man (because 33 is still young), Logic has a long, successful career ahead of him still. Thanks, Ari, for sharing your deep enjoyment of this genre of music in such a fantastic way with us, always, and this wonderful in depth conversation with Logic. I really appreciated and enjoyed both of you!

It is indeed from an 'evolutionary psychology' perspective a fact that we look for treaths/danger/negatives. This is how we survived with tigers around us. These days 'tigers' have taken a different shape(human). Ignore the tigers and sharks around you when they want to stiffle your progress. Recognice them an consider them the a opponent of a chess-game. You participate..Or Not.

4 the record on the record.
The greatest, the goat, 2 one’s personal best group, crew, posse, gang, label, executive, producer, Dj, pop blocker, break dancer, graffiti, tagger, engineer, individual, person place or rapper thing, etc ?
MC= The Square route of what all that have contributed from the foremothers to the forefathers and those who still continue to participate and Respect & Love the only true GOAT is ? HIP-HOP
Higher Infinite Power Healing Our People is more than a Culture. It’s literally family. More Spiritual than religious, that welcomes his & hers and everything else all alike. Cause who is Hip Hop to judge when Hip Hop survived the most severe judgment. A judgment more critical than any other type of music of all time.
So Hip Hop can’t judge for that’s being hypocritical tot he craft but legends and founders alike can critic when Hip Hop loses it’s focus on storytelling and being the poet journalist with a message so strong many fans and artist can only hear the sound but it’s the message that swam across all oceans to get us, the master of ceremony back on solid ground.
Great conversation, with much Love to all. God Bless JL
