No way, i just turned 14 a few days ago and my neighbor have me a old 1652 fisher with a trailer, for me to mow his yard twice, all the plywood is all rotten and steering is frozen but we are going to rip it all out and rebuild it!!, my dad is a 20 year certified marine tech
@@kylek165 That is awesome. Sounds like you guys have the skills to build a great boat. We just took ours out today and caught some big bluegill. Good luck with your boat!
Holy cow man, Im blown away by how nice this boat is. I binge watched most of the series tonight and loved the process, and you've tempted me to start building my own boat. Keep up the great work!
Thank you! What a great comment, I really appreciate the feedback and that you've found the channel helpful. If you do decide to build your own, just take it slow -- one part at a time -- and it's totally doable!
I love your boat build. I am coming to the end of doing my 14ft fiberglass boat and so far it is coming out great. I do wonder why did you by a long shaft Yamaha when you had a short shaft transom. You could avoided needing a jack plate. Maybe I am missing something. I do agree with on the trolling motor. I have no need for a foot pedal now.
Nope you're not missing anything and yes a short shaft was the appropriate size for the boat. It was purchased due to availability of short shafts at the time. If I were to do it again I would have just waited for the short shaft, even if I got the long shaft working in the end. Lol
I did a job boat conversion last year. Was working on a small budget,so I found everything used on marketplace. Used 28 HP Johnson,1970s monark 15.5 x48"at bottom (60across top). One of my brothers does highway construction. When they do a stretch they replace the signs, which are all high grade aluminum. Casting deck, floors, all free material. Some outdoor carpet from home Depot. It's set up exactly like this one, except I have 2 casting chairs ,one in back one in front. I do live in southern Michigan,so I am lucky with the abundance of used boating items that can be found. Shout out to "Hildabrandts" marine, and snowmobile salvage. Great place to get ahold of things at a good price. All in I spent about $1400. (Only $400 boat and trailer, $600 outboard)
Excellent use of road signs, I tried that approach and contacted a few local city employees but I never got a response, I would have loved to do the same. There's a lot to be said for doing this super budget, I really enjoy it.
A. This is awesome. I totally binged the entire playlist 😅 B. That is my lake, so we must live in the same general part of the state. If you see some weirdo waving from the bank, it might be me. 😂 C. I’ve never been a boater or worked on them, but I feel like I could give it a go just from watching your vids. Thanks for taking us on the journey!
I have a bass tracker pro160 with a 40hp. I really love my boat. That being said man I would love to have your boat also. That thing is perfect for bass fishing or anything really.
Great build. Excellent attention to detail. I have an Alumacraft MV 1648 and wondering about removing the bench seat and how this will affect the integrity of the hull. Did you remove a center bench seat? If so, how did you reinforce the hull?
This boat came with the center bench seat removed already. If there is bracing on each side of the seat it should be fine, if the seat bench is the bracing I might reconsider.
You really did a fantastic job with that boat do you ever have any trouble with that trolling motor when it's in spot lock sometimes it will sit there and wind itself up with the cord until it kicks off spot lock.
I never had it do that while using spot lock, I did it manually a couple times with turning but it was good with not over-wrapping the cord on spot lock.
Very well done. I noticed the battery switch if its one of no name brandsbe careful i had one weld the contacts and melt plastic pushing more than 50a in it starting a motor. I really like how it cam out cant buy one for 6k
Thanks for the feedback, I will definitely keep an eye on that. It seems to be made with sturdy hardware but electrical issues are always a fear of mine.
Lovely build bro. Looking at the color of the water and reg number on the side of the boat-- is that Mosquito Lake in OH? Anyways, gonna try to emulate this over the next year or so. Beautiful job, thank you for sharing. Much more accessible price than I would have expected.
Hey man, first of all i love the channel. I have searched and watched video after video to find someone doing the same build out that i plan to do. This one is almost identical. If you dont mind me asking, how much aluminum angle did you use? Looks awesome and looking forward to building mine.
Lol I should of watched the other videos before asking a million questions on your original video. So for making you answer that question for probably the tenth time you got a new subscriber out of me. Sorry for the extra questions you answered on this video lol 😂 👌😉
A live well would have been awesome! I considered adding on to the rear bench seat but decided to keep the back deck flat and comfortable. There was definitely room for it! I personally don't use them much, so it wasn't high on my priority list. Now... an integrated bait bucket would have been pretty amazing, hmmm...
Nice work! Can I ask.. where the heck do you find the aluminum framing? I have the same boat with a 40hp Mercury, but dedicated to waterfowl hunting. Bought it during COVID and it just amazes me how little you get for 24 grand! Would love to biuld on the worthless bait tank and put in a beam to beam bench.

This is the nicest one I've seen. My 13 year old son just got a free Jon boat and we are doing a fater son project. This video was very inspiring.
Good luck! It's a great project, very rewarding. Me and my daughter had a blast building this one.

Awesome job man...exactly what I want to do to my Grizzly ....
Thanks bud, I'd love to build out a grizzly!
you are a craftsman. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.I have learned so much.

Ya got any hull pics ,where they welded pods on? Are they dead even with original hull ?

Easily! It was super light, couldn't even feel it behind the truck.

How well does that 25 hp push that boat? I have basically the same boat and looking to buy a new motor.
@@texasgulfcoastoutdoors6870 not bad at all, around 26-28 depending on load
Bro! This is awesome
Mind me asking, how much did it cost to weld the pods on the back?
It was around $300-$400
Very nice job !
Thank you!
I love the build I just wanted to know how much it cost for all of the framing and the decking
That wasn't too bad, around $300 or so but the aluminum floor was around $400.
This is my dream boat!
Just saw your bimini video and wanted to know more about your vessel

The open floor plan works great for a variety of species. Catfish would no doubt be awesome.

how long is your boat
