The commentator here, Ryle Nugent, elevates referee Luke Pearce to the high position of being “…arguably the best referee in world rugby right now…”. Well, all I can say to that is that after this match, he has fallen spectacularly from that particular lofty pedestal because Mr. Pearce had an absolute shocker of a game! It would be difficult to find a worst refereeing performance. He missed so many crucial moments, and failed to take appropriate action on so many occasions during the game. He also seemed to leave his yellow cards back in the dressing room! Stuart Hogg alone committed two cast iron yellow card offences, one in either half, both of which were blatantly intentional! How did the referee, his two assistants and the TMO miss these offences? Numerous offences at the ruck by both teams, but particular by Scotland constantly entering at the side saw penalty advantage after advantage after advantage being called without the appropriate sanction of a yellow card??!!! A perfectly good early try by Ireland was wrongly disallowed, the reasoning that a “new ball” had been thrown in at the lineout, being relied upon. However, at that time it wasn’t noticed that one Irish player and one Scottish player had moved into position to form the linoeout. Now, correct me if I’m wrong but I’m led to believe that in accordance with the laws of the game two players, as described heretofore, positioning themselves as such, constitutes a lineout. Therefore it is irrelevant which ball was used. Where was the TMO in all of this? I’ve no doubt Mr Pearce has reviewed his performance and has gone and made all the appropriate apologies, after the fact. But that’s just not good enough in a match of this importance. Yes, the correct team won the match but it could have all gone so wrong if the Ireland team hadn’t been able to adapt so well in order to deal with to all of the adversity (including numerous refereeing mistakes) that they faced in the game. In the Ireland v France match, James Lowe was adjudged to have scored a try that referee Wayne Barnes clearly should have disallowed (debates re a possible penalty try being justified in the same incident aside…). The French prop Atonio should also have seen a red card in that game. Two shocking mistakes. World Rugby and the Referees governing body both need to tackle this.

The new ball rule needs to be changed. Why the offending team face absolutely no repercussions is scandalous. What's even more scandalous is that it's not in any of these highlight reels!
@@garysmith5025 That should be a referees call to make if there is such behaviour going on. Quick lineouts are taken all the time. Why should the ball used make any difference. If it's too quick it's for the referee to call.
In 2011, a similar incident happened where Wales took a quick throw in and scored from it. Ireland claimed it was a different ball, but it was turned down. After the match, 6N admitted the refs got it wrong. The Law preventing a quick throw has three situations where it cannot be allowed. The ball is touched by someone else other than the player who brought it into touch, before the quick throw is taken. So someone in crowd, a ball-boy, an official must not touch it. Second, it must be the same ball that is used for the quick throw in. And third, a line out cannot have formed already.
@@thrillerwriter2087 In this case(2011) I don't see the issue or problem if the on pitch refereeing team allowed the quick play. The fact that Ireland's(as an Irish man) only gripe with it can be that it wasn't the same ball, for me, is wrong. If the ball is available at the same location as the ball that has just gone off the field I don't see why there should be an issue. As I said in another comment, if the quick play is deemed too quick then let the refereeing team call it. This then allows for teams to suffer the consequences, or not, of quickly taken plays. If you elect to throw it quickly and it bites you in the backside then so be it.
@@aidenoleary7406 If you're referring to the 2011 incident then you need to consider: Sexton kicked the ball into the crowd - the crowd handled it. The ball-boy gets another ball, cleans it, and hands it to the Welsh hooker in front of the linesman. The hooker then steps into field of play whilst throwing the ball to Mike Phillips even though the Irish players had arguably formed a line out, and scores a try. It shouldn't have been allowed on a number of fronts. Six Nations head of referees apologised to Irish team afterwards saying they got it wrong, because it was a different ball. But that was not the only reason it should not have stood.
It's a bit strange that with 15 mins plus of highlights they couldn't manage to fit in the non try at the start and the crucial turnover by Hanson, plus some of the other important talking points.... still, always appreciate that there are highlights here to watch.
Makes sense. Needed to be sure of the grounding after the French irish incident, and were looking for a yellow card whixh they missed in the french irish game also
ireland deserved the win, no taking it away. I was there at the game, my question to scotland is how did we fold in the second half like that? We had the ref on our side too lmao, Hogg should've been sent packing in the 1st half and there was other decisions too that went in our favour, we had it there for the taking but fell horrifically flat in the second... i'll be interested to hear what squidge will say on this.
Luke Pierce doesn't know what a shoulder charge is and he doesn't seem to bothered about cynical play either. Not to mention the amount of side entries he ignored. Best in the world he was called.
Laughing about Ringrose being unconscious after he denied him immediate medical attention is one of the most disgusting things I've seen from a referee
Ireland do seem to know what they’re doing. But SA and AB’s spend all their time researching and training to beat NH teams in the World Cup. Ireland v SA would be amazing. The kiwis only fear the scary French turning up!
Rewatching this for the build-up for the RWC. Gonna be a hell of a rematch and now with even more at stake. Ya can bet that Scotland have learned from this match and you can bet Ireland won't be resting on their laurels. Both teams are in their best form. Cannot wait.
Compelling match but highlights are a travesty. Irish injuries reached farcical proportions but still won comfortably. People rubbish Sexton but he was the master (again) makes key decisions and pulls the strings like the best, e.g. taking Hansen's offload for the second try. Booing the kicker was disgusting, trying to match the French?
Duhan Van der Merve is a fantastic attacking winger....but he is woeful in defence....way out of position all 6 nations long...got found out yet again.
To be honest I think he's just a bit brain dead when it comes to rugby. He's made some really poor decisions this 6 nations (against France last trying to run it from his own try line, positioning and tackle selection on Conan, not passing for an almost guaranteed Scotland try in the 1st half against ireland). I think that the Scottish back 3 is incompetent at times and they will really struggle against teams with world class players there (ireland, France, South africa and new zealand). They should be better when darcy comes back but no telling at the moment
Also he had a real fuck up in attack when he was near the try line and for some reason didn't offload the ball for an easy score he tried to keep running and ireland won the turnover that moment was huge for the game
Luke Pearce should be stood down by World Rugby indefinitely. Denied the unconscious Ringrose immediate medical attention and then laughed about it. Irrespective of his obvious bias against Ireland in the rest of his decisions, actively endangering players is completely unacceptable
Hogg and Russell went missing when they were need most. The ref did his best to keep the cheating Scottish in the game. Should've given at least 3 yellows

@@aidenoleary7406 If you're referring to the 2011 incident then you need to consider:
Sexton kicked the ball into the crowd - the crowd handled it.
But that was not the only reason it should not have stood.
ireland after conceding a try: allow us to introduce ourselves
It's a bit strange that with 15 mins plus of highlights they couldn't manage to fit in the non try at the start and the crucial turnover by Hanson, plus some of the other important talking points.... still, always appreciate that there are highlights here to watch.
Can’t believe this was Hoggs last game :(
Cross field kick was so good , sheehans revenge too
Not sure why nearly two minutes of highlights for the tmo on Mack hansens try.
Makes sense. Needed to be sure of the grounding after the French irish incident, and were looking for a yellow card whixh they missed in the french irish game also
It’s a highlights reel. It makes no sense
@@adamcoyne1315 looking for an excuse not to give yellow you mean
ireland deserved the win, no taking it away. I was there at the game, my question to scotland is how did we fold in the second half like that? We had the ref on our side too lmao, Hogg should've been sent packing in the 1st half and there was other decisions too that went in our favour, we had it there for the taking but fell horrifically flat in the second... i'll be interested to hear what squidge will say on this.
go Ireland well done lads
Luke pearse was no where even close to the best ref in world rugby yesterday, he was asleep
I can't believe just before kick off he said Luke peirce is possible the best Ref in world rugby right now 😮 has he not see him ref before 😅😅😅
Good analysis
Looks like Archie would beat his old man in a 100m dash! ;-)
Will be some feat if Ireland can get the Grand Slam and the U20s win on Sunday 🤞🏻🏉☘☘☘
Phew that was a crazy day that you were fortunate to have got so far and nary a complaint 👍🤣
Ja, I think Sa and Nz big trouble this world cup. European rugby is on fire.
Ireland do seem to know what they’re doing. But SA and AB’s spend all their time researching and training to beat NH teams in the World Cup. Ireland v SA would be amazing. The kiwis only fear the scary French turning up!
No 2003 for Emglamd
TH-cam! Time your ads better!!! That was awful.
How the 🤬 is someone called Huw Jones and not Welsh! 😂
Rewatching this for the build-up for the RWC.
Gonna be a hell of a rematch and now with even more at stake. Ya can bet that Scotland have learned from this match and you can bet Ireland won't be resting on their laurels.
Both teams are in their best form. Cannot wait.
*Snigger.
Referee got blanked twice by that kid hahaha class
Irish are always the better Celts! (And I am not Irish).
Ireland must be better September
Tuipulotu probably feels a bit silly today.
Nah he wont.. 'silly' are the ones thinking he did anything wrong.
Check the two visitors at 11:57😮
I'm glad Irish beat them
9:36 was there a fight that occurred that got canned from the highlight real?
No
Love to c Scotland play n win ..just not against Irl , IRL here
Hope Irish beat them in pool world cup
Duhan is some defensive liability.it’s actually hilarious
Kerns v Gallowglasses
Ben O'Keefe determines the outcome!!
Luke Pearce should be stood down by World Rugby indefinitely. Denied the unconscious Ringrose immediate medical attention and then laughed about it.
Irrespective of his obvious bias against Ireland in the rest of his decisions, actively endangering players is completely unacceptable
Why not show a lineout or two?
How bad was that kick from Murray at the start
Extended highlights and you didn’t include the disallowed try?
Hogg and Russell went missing when they were need most. The ref did his best to keep the cheating Scottish in the game. Should've given at least 3 yellows
Hogg gets too emotional about every little thing. He needs to find a way to switch off the passion once in a while and get the job done
@Sum Boi The ridiculous hair, his kid running on with the match ball for kick-off, taunting opposition off the ball.....year in, year out it just always seems like his concentration is not focused enough on winning rugby matches and fixated on producing moments in matches.
Nice balanced inoffensive comment from a neutral supporter - running true to form my friend
@@tymone3544 Hogg is a clown, the wig, the kids bringing the ball on before the game etc, etc......The focus should've been on beating Ireland instead of the 100 caps 3 ring Circus. . He should've gotten yellow at least twice. He's a cynical player and a cheat.
Hoggy for me needs dropped and bring in kinghorn he offers so much more in attack these days.
@ 9:21 how is that a tackle from sexton and their centre. They basically went down to trip the Scottish player
Can anyone explain why the Irish weren't penalised (going back to the advantage) at 9:58??
Scot had two hands on the ball and was on his feet
Could say that about the Scottish plays about 5 times myself
Please try to stay awake through out a match , then you will not come on here like a befuddled silly little chappie trying to con the referee, that incident was at 9-57.33 as can be verified at Lancaster gate if you dare to question, yours Gina at Aidensfield arms
Scotland never turned up in the 2nd half which is a pity because Ireland were rattled and were there for the beating yesterday.
Scotland should have gotten at least 2 yellow cards for professional fouls on the goal line
At what stage did you believe Ireland were rattled, they were laughing at half time in the dressing room and then went out with 4 players down and went up the gears and finished off Scotland, Scotland scoreless since the 17th minute, rattled really
Not rattled just beaten by a far better team I think that's what you meant
9 times in a row we have beaten ye. The comments each time by mostly Scottish people. The irish have a great laugh hearing it over and over. Ireland played 60% of their potential.
van der merwe does not know how to tackle yet again...
Advantage should only be played for 20 seconds
Irish left few trys behind Irish are alit better
I believe Scotland could beat South Africa at this stage.
Go the abs 😁
Ireland should have done better
Irish 2nd try should never have been. Ref got things wrong.
Ireland 22 skittles 7
Ref was an absolute fool. Should not be employed tbh
Hogg and Russell look good when they are protected by their team when they have take their heads down out of their arseholes and play they found very wanting
That's hilarious lol.
@Sum Boi I remember that dropped try in Dublin a few years ago LOL
Russell had a good game yesterday, he had to do more defensive work, he worked hard in there and I am no fan of his. hoggy is the one person Id drop to the bench hes really not doing anything in particular that suggests he should still be first pick.
class 😂
Should have been a 5min highlights lol
