  • Today I am showing you how to style your curly hair with mousse. This tutorial is also great for wavy hair. Using a mousse on your wavy or curly hair will give you voluminous, lightweight results with lots of definition and just the right amount of hold.
    A huge thank you Kavella for sponsoring this video! #ad #kavellapartner

    Instead of raking product through the hair and pulling out whatever waves are there after washing and conditioning, I suggest scrunching it into your hair from the ends upward. It’s going to really help with forming those waves/curls. All products should be scrunched into the hair. Just for reference, I have wavy to curly hair

    • @sackofpotatoes9752
      @sackofpotatoes9752 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      how would you do that?

    • @jdog8362
      @jdog8362 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@sackofpotatoes9752 just flip your head over, and scrunch upwards, grabbing the ends and scrunching them up to your roots. You can even hold them there for a few seconds. It’s helps form them even more. Just do this to your whole head until you have product throughout your hair and it looks uniform-ish.

      When I have short hair, I have cute curls (not excessively) and wings. Once it gets longer, I feel that gravity pulls them into a wave.
      How long do you wait/dry before applying any product like you’re suggesting?
      Straight out of the shower? Or like… 50-75% dry or whatever?
      I’m sick of my hair being awesome and beachy when I don’t do anything to it, but annoyed that when I feel I need to brush it the next day, it gets all… poofy and frizz.

    Thanks for explaining *why* you're using the curl cream! I'm 9 months in and have my general technique down, but I'm still trying to figure out which styling products are best for me. I've watched a lot of tutorials, but it's hard to tell how the product choices interact with the person's hair type, the technique, or each other. (I only just learned that people scrunch with oil because it helps break the cast, not just for moisturizing.)
    Also, your eye makeup looks FABULOUS in this video: so natural but so pretty. If you ever do makeup tutorials, that would be my top request!

    this was so helpful - and soo easy! I've never tried mousse after plopping and it helped sooo much with volume at the roots and the maintenance of volume through the day. also I like that when you apply mousse after drying a little, it seems to bother my scalp less. this will be my routine from here on out. thank you!

    Is a mousse or curling cream better if I have lightweight (fine) permed hair? Should I be using both products?

    • @natalirivero467
      @natalirivero467 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think you still need both but the products need to be light. Maybe a styling spray (like a beach waves activator spray, Redken has one) instead of a cream, but definitely some sort of leave-in would help the hair not to look dry. And then a little oil in the ends, I've heard the Olaplex 7 is light. For the mousse you can try Wella EIMI natural volume.
      My hair is different than yours so I can use products that are a little more heavy, yet I don't like it to look stiff or dirty, that's why I use the Wella mousse too. I use the Moroccanoil treatment oil (it'd be a little heavy for you I suppose), and the Revlon pro you curl activator gel.
