If you told me back when the two first hooked up in the show that their story would end with Rick using a tarp and substitution jutsu to dodge two major explosions that would kill anyone I'd completely believe you.
@@iamkonner4813 worse than that.. it wasn't as 'strong' as an actual tarp.. because it was literally a crm flag.. the thinnest of silky-soft flag material.. with water tipped over it.. was what saved them from the massive percussion of that explosion. and the gas.. .... ......
The dream sequences were explained in episode 4. After Rick “lost” Carl again, he started to dream about Michonne. That helped him mentally cope with his loneliness.
Exactly. What I need to know is, who didn’t know this from the *very first dream*?!? It wasn’t hard to see. It was spelled out right in the storytelling: Something drastic happens to Rick, and hard cut to a bright, sunny day with Michonne looking like a vision and Rick just basking in her glow, then Rick wakes up in his bleak room. In the next dream, it’s interrupted just before he asks for her name…or maybe her phone number. (Damn you, Okafor!!) In the final dream, she’s all in white, he proposes and as he kisses her, like the letters he’d burned, she burns away, saying “I believe in you”, and he notices he has a left hand. How did anyone not understand that these were dreams? Am I giving too much credit to peoples comprehension levels these days?
I cried at the end, when Rick and Judith hugged. It reminded me of Rick dropping everything and running towards Judith, thinking she was dead, but she was saved by Tyreece and Carol.
I cried too, however I feel like the reunion in season 5 was soooooo much more emotional than this one, and it’s been literal years, in universe and out, since they even saw each other. Maybe it’s just me, but I just did not feel the emotion
@@skaterrabbit2005it didn’t feel that emotional cause of the freaking kids actors acting so terrible, like RJ actor seems to be some kind of acoustic or whatever
i actually liked the 4th episode the most in terms of writing but nothing can beat the ending of the last episode i mean it was literally 6 years in the making
I keep hearing everyone say “where did the gas mask come from?” There were two gas masks in Rick’s bag that Thorne made him drop. That’s why under the wet flag, Rick told michone to get “the other one” they had two gas masks. It was obvious to me first time around but looking back I see how it was confusing for so many people
@@matthewsmith7802 ooooh, you’re right. I was so focused on what he was saying ( because it was emotional) that I totally ignored what items he was packing. Thank you.
They were protected but the cloth mask and the water they tell you when there's smoke try covering your face or getting low to the ground water is like a wall to gas
5:51 bro the dreams where showing how he was dreaming and dealing with his PTSD and pain and hopelessness to help cope with the pain he was feeling. . Once he couldnt remember Carls face anymore (heart breaking) he started to dream about meeting Michonne in a alternative universe were the wild fire virus never happened and they met naturally. eventually if u pay attention his dreams of, once he finally gives up on leaving and burns his phones and letters, his dreams started to show her also burning and her face starting to blur away. People who havent been through extreme tramtic combat experiences will never truly understand this but its a thing... 1000 mile stare. The dreams were huge to showing him being absolutely broken to the point of giving into the CRM completely and giving what life he has left was now to complete Okafors mission to CHANGE the CRM from the inside. "We cant keep being the monster to beat the monster" and there "is no escape for the living". 26:05
I see your point, but I feel very satisfied after this series. If it's truly the end for Rick and Michonne, I'm totally cool with it. After all these years, it just feels right to me.
The next villain in twd has to be walkers again. When Beal showed Rick the million large dead masses during the echelon, and the migration that michonne encountered, along with the variants in season 11 and France, it has to be foreshadowing that walkers are going to be a bigger threat than people again.
The scene with Rick, Lori and Carl reuniting was a family he was very close to and knew them intimately. Rick reuniting with Michonne and his kids is after 8 years of separation. He didn't know Michonne and they had to fight just to reconnect. This is the same for his children. Judith was basically a baby and RJ didn't exist. He doesn't know these people and they don't know him. He will need time to emotionally connect to them so that he can love them as much as he does his wife.
@@MCLamb1984 Well I'm sure from all the complaints online that a large percentage of the viewing audience agreed with you. I was just happy to see them both again and get a happy ending so l got that I'm satisfied
@@MCLamb1984 of course it sucked, they killed more people than the saviors and saviors combined in a day, organized soldiers on top of that. And have the decency to say: "love doesn't die"
The ending definitely felt a bit rushed and kinda caught me off guard, I expected the CRM to be a crazy enemy but they get beat in a season (technically an episode) so it kinda weirded me out. I do think it was cool how in Ricks proposal he says “it’s a broken world Michonne and you’re the only thing that puts it back together”. While in season 3 on the phone with hallucination Lori he said “I couldn’t put it back together” which I thought was cool. I know that the Walkers were used as fuel by the CRM also cause Rick Mentioned it in episode one so there is that connection possibly to Dead City but yeah curious where we go from here. Amazing Video as always Thrifty👏👏👏👏
found your channel a year ago when i started rewatching and finally finished TWD. you're my go-to creator for recaps, reviews, theories, rankings etc. even outside of TWD. glad after all the speculation and hype we finally got answers in this great season.
At Morgan's end on FTWD when he literally said he was going to look for Rick I was ecstatic. If they leave such a beautiful scenario as this untold would be a complete travesty. Even if morgan never finds rick, his search would make for wonderful story telling. I mean, they showed daryls search for him beautifully and michone got an entire season and a few episodes and was totally worth the wait. So if they leave morgan oit of it, ima be sad as shit because despite people disdain for morgan as a character, I loved morgan
Yeah, that would be horrible to set that up for the future and just say forget Morgan. Fear was garbage after season 2, but Morgan has always been a solid character, even through his huge personality shifts.
@@AzureRadio I've always been curious what exactly people mean when they say it was garbage. There's a few things I disliked about the series but I was watching to see the expansion of the walking dead universe and thoroughly enjoyed it
@@tylercooper1551well it wasn’t really on that level that I would call garbage but some seasons such as that hobo crazy black woman in season 5 was so terrible, but I liked season when Alisha could die cause of radiation or something, I really liked it. or season 3 eas pretty good but if you actually compare all those seasons to first 2, none of them gets even close, they were really good.
The grenade that Rick pulled the pin on was probably a standard fragmentation grenade. These grenades explode fragmentations out in a high radius, hence the name frag grenade. Rick was wearing body armor and thick clothing at the time and yes, being that close to a frag genade's intial explosive would be highly detrimental to a standard person, the walker he was holding took most of the brunt of the explosion plus the pieces of fragmentation
Some things to note about the gas in ep 6 are 1. Michonne notes that it breaks up quickly. She was caught in the initial blast that first time unlike the second time and 2. I don’t think a few seconds go in universe between the gas detonating and people turning to walkers. This could easily have been a few minutes
Jadis skipped consignment because Rick was the twelfth "B" she brought to the CRM. She had made a deal with them waaaaay back. She even mentions she needs 12 people when she's talking to Negan in season 8 (I think it was S8🤷♂️) after she turns on Ricks group and helps Negan to which he responds she can only have 10 people because "people are a resource".
Honestly, I’m glad that this story was even made! I am super happy how it turned out and I’m so glad that Rick and Michonne got their story wrapped up. I think they could have done more with the story, but I’d rather have a story be condensed rather than drawn out. Great series and definitely my favorite season of TWD since Season 7 of the main series (yes I like season 7)
Glad I binged watched this show last month, from TWD from ep 1, season 1, until the final episode of this continuation of the story. Excellent! I would not have wanted to have watched over the years in real time.
The show was amazing except for one thing, plot connivence. And man did it take me out of the show. From them jumping out of the helicopter and then it exploding, Michone finding Rick purely by chance and the god awful finale explosion. Hands down the best thing was acting (Andrew Lincoln) and the theme. Too Far Gone is always in the back of my mind and was especially prevalent during the scene with John Locke (CRM leader guy) and Rick.
Some level of convenience like finding each other by chance can be forgiven. That’s the point of the story that after nearly a decade where Rick feels like there’s no way out fate brings them back together. It’s even referenced in episode 4 when she’s pleading with him to snap out of it. But the more you think about it I think there’s a lot of problems with the narrative it’s the type of thing on why I dropped this show early on and only watch videos about it for fun to see what happened This is subjective but I don’t really like just how long he was gone or that he cut off his hand (which was only done to mirror the comic). 8 years is a long time and there’s no reference of him forming any new relationships within that time. The excuse for the CRM not letting him go doesn’t make much sense either. This is by far the powerful group in the world the idea that he’d go back home and rally up forces that would be able to travel all the way back to the CRM and remotely overthrow it is straight nonsense. He was very clearly just a man who wanted to go home, the average person in that scenario wouldn’t want to leave. There’s also no reason they couldn’t have just found his family and friends and brought them in I don’t remember the guy’s name in the first episode who found his letter then died in the helicopter but how believable it is really that he just gives up after finding out he has info on him? He still could have killed him and anyone else who had info. Or you could question why wasn’t the info shared with the higher ups. I also don’t buy the emotional argument he gave in episode 4 for why he was hesitant to take the risk in coming back it seemed out of character. His logical argument made more sense and was proven to be true when they came after them. Her coming alone was questionable and them helping strangers and not killing them after they turned on them was a mistake rookies would make The ending while the best one could hope for it at this point I think feels a bit dry not only because other characters are missing for the time being but it’s exactly that, the best one could hope for. The series has been irreversibly damaged since Carl’s death and Rick’s departure, this isn’t what was suppose to happen. Even the RickxMichone pairing while it has grown on people wasn’t built on the best grounds. Them having a son together that Rick doesn’t even know up till now while Carl is dead just feels wrong
Couple things: Rick was the last person Janis brought in. In the main show they alluded to her tally. Also, the CRM doesn’t operate in the city, so Michonne can speak freely to Benjiro.
My biggest complaint about this series is that it was to short. If we would have another episodes going deeply into the crm and rick's story there, i think this would be the best series set in TWD universe. I really wanted to see more from crm, but still this series was very good when you compare it to Dead City or the last season of TWD
Super late to this video but at the end when you said it seemed like something was missing from the reunion with Rick’s family at the end, the thing missing is Carl. He’s such an integral part of Rick’s character that not having him there just makes the whole family thing ring hollow. Still by far the worst decision they ever made on the show was to kill Carl off.
There were many huge walker herds out and about (like the one in episode 2). Maybe that's the endgame? Fighting off the huge herds of walkers before they destroy everything 🤷♂️
The production quality seemed like it was made for the big screen, which gets me thinking... they did initially say they were making it s movie instead of a show, did they change their mind once they realized there was too much shit to cram into a full length feature but decided to keep the cinema quality of what was already done?
Funny part is it's nearly exactly the length of 3 movies lol. 3 movies at 2 hours each is 6 hours, This series is 6 episodes at 1 hour each, actually it's closer to 45 each, as every episode has a different runtime, but still it's about 6 hours?
Would’ve been better off as films imo. I can vividly envision the entire first movie from the first episode. If that was a full two- two and a half hours instead of 50 minutes it would’ve been nuts.
The point of the dream sequences with michonne were meant to show people that they had a connection and he's trying to hold on to the memory of her. The dreams burning down near the end of the episode show that he had forgotten her.
Man, I really love your videos. Small detail I've been thinking about, probably very inconsequential and most likely has been discussed before : The drawings etched on phones. Paper degrades so easily and I'm not sure the people left alive are making more. Cellphones, on the other hand? They are absolutely useless now. There's a TON of them, and they won't rot and degrade. Etching on glass is pretty much permanent, while still being on a small enough item to carry, hide or send. Just gotta be careful of the notoriously fragile screens, like I'm shocked none of the drawings we saw had any cracked screens hahaha
I agree with what Dan from Dan Reviews said - The CRM was probably not even a created thing until Andrew Lincoln wanted to leave. They were created as a means of getting Rick off the show, and then they were shoehorned into FTWD and TWB in hopes of getting/keeping people interested in those shows. Unfortunately, this led to the audience having certain expectations for them, to the point that it was inevitable that many would be disappointed.
@@VinnyGuardinonope, they are not in the comics in any form. The closest we got is the commonwealth and its army but that’s a different entity also in the show.
@@VinnyGuardino meh, I was personally hyped for the show for Rick and Michonne, I always knew the CRM storyline wouldn’t be some big avengers endgame style crossover so many content creators are building it up to be and when Danai said TOWL was a love story, I knew that it will focus more on characters than the CRM plot so I adjusted my expectations accordingly. So in the end, I was satisfied with the ending. The CRM plot was rushed, no doubts about it but I didn’t watch this show for the CRM and I knew with how many fan theories there were, there was no way any story could live up to the hype so many people have built up on their heads for years. I’ve been in enough fandoms to know exactly when people are getting their expectations way too unrealistically high. It’s not just TWD.
For me it's not over until Daryl comes back and sees Rick The Horizon he's out there is because he's looking for Rick I feel like I won't have closure until Daryl finally comes back and finds Rick but as far as Rick and Michonne story I'm satisfied
@@Iletyoulive because Rick's family is not only Judith and RJ but Daryl as well. Also Negan has changed so much proving Rick's decision to let him live correct
@@anestisvassou8112 that doesn’t add anything to the story,it just sounds forced, these people have been apart for nearly a decade, they’ve moved on with their lives,a reunion of any sort just sounds silly

If they are going to continue The walking Dead universe they need an episode where everyone from Commonwealth. Alexandria and hilltop all reunite. Maybe even face a new bad guy. But they need to show Rick reuniting with everyone. He has missed so many years.
I don’t get why Rick only saw Judith at the end of the season. Like why were they alone there? Did they drive there themselves? How did they know where to meet up. I wanted Rick to come back, find the common wealth, and then surprise everyone with him still being alive. I wanted to see all the characters react to him at once.. especially Daryl
Confusing to me of how confused you were with the dream sequences 😂 Dude was mentally breaking down for years. His dreams were one of the main things keeping him sane & having hope.
I might be weird but the walking dead original series is like a comfort thing for me lol. I’ve watched it for over a decade now and my life has changed so much but the show is always the same. Idk how to explain it. When I first saw the show I was 20 I am now 33. At 20 I was with my first wife who since died of cancer and I just turn in this show when doing stuff around the house or whatever
BRO I was SO hoping that rick and michonne were gonna escape to the commonwealth and then all the stories would come together to join forces against the CRM it would have been so fucking cool.
Beale talking about the rising threat of the variants would have given us so much more to see ahead. That actually would have been such great setup and that single detail I think would have redeemed the ending of TOWL for me.
I left the original series just before Rick left, and I was done . I left Fear after the 3rd season , but I kept up with both show’s through reviewers “such as yourself” . I came back to see the end of Michonne & Ricks story arc.. The fan service they gave us was much appreciated, I finally got a Walking Dead happy ending , I’m satisfied, and I’m out.. … I have no desire to watch Daryl , Carol , Maggie, and especially Negan shows .
I do understand why you have rated the series as an 8/10, but I still believe that it deserves a 9/10. For those who came for Rick & Michonne, we see it as a perfect sendoff for them; however, those who came for the CRM are greatly disappointed. Maybe increasing the episode count to 8 would've pleased both parties, but I myself am very pleased with the ending. The final episode may have been rushed, but I thoroughly enjoyed the fast pacing that mirrored the first two episodes. Not only that, but the perfect blend of action, emotion, and slow, yet tense, moments really sold it for me. If I were to rate the final episode, it would be a 9/10. Overall, I think this was one of the greatest TWDU seasons of all time, on par with the earlier seasons if not even better.
Yep would’ve made the reunion a lot more special just like they should’ve put Carl in ricks hallucinations in his last episode of twd but they did Sasha instead for some reason
im sure someone else already mentioned it but the two gas masks were in the bag brought by rick & michonne. thorne had the bag after she held them up at gunpoint so thats why she had one (no idea how she survived the leveling of the entire area though)
When I watched season 10 I distinctly remember Michonne wearing a ring on a necklace just like Maggie wears her wedding ring, so I figured that was her wedding ring with Rick
I know your comment is a month old but I’m currently re-watching TWD and I’m on the episode right after Rick blows up the bridge. Michonne is wearing a ring on her necklace but my first thought was maybe it’s Rick’s wedding ring to Lori because he stopped wearing it a while back. Maybe he kept it around because he’s not wearing a ring in the last episode he appears on.
@@jensss. yeah that’s what a couple of people had said and that makes sense but at the same time her wearing his wedding ring to lori is kinda awkward lol
Hey bro love from Trinidad been watching u a couple months now and I am very pleased with your content. I personally was just happy to see rick back and him meeting upbwith his family, do i think This the end for Rick Grimes maybe, but I just want him to see his long lost brother Daryl and his reaction to Negan being on their side. I really hope that this is not the end of rick grimes. I know this guy has been through so much and he just once to live and be with his family. I really hope that the gang gets back Together 🎉 Love and support from Trinidad 🇹🇹. keep up the great work. PS. I hope u see this comment
I hella love your content my dude and I'm so glad you're getting in on the old school Resident Evil train, it suits your tastes beautifully. With your TWD content, I've enjoyed your work put into speculation and I almost always agree with your assessments. That being said, I definitely agree with the Terry O'Quinn journeyman outlook. Back in WB when Beale was only mentioned, it made me think of one particular B-movie legend... no... THE B-movie icon... who was once touted to portray Negan. Around that actual time he even replied to a question on Twitter regarding a show he would love to be on and his response was, "The Walking Dead. Make it happen" That man is known as The Chin himself, Bruce Campbell. I was soooo hoping this would have been his moment, something that he would have fit into way better than O'Quinn, despite the latter having insanely good chops himself. Anyway, just a fan here enjoying your work. Keep it up bro!!
I've been impatiently waiting for your series review, you're one of my favourite channels! The something that was missing in the final scene's reunion was Carl 😭 I really loved this show and am very happy with it, but it could have been better with maybe 10 episodes to adequately flesh out both the CRM and Beale; and to show the reunion with the kids, Alexandria and the Commonwealth. Completely agree about people shitting on RJ's actor, that's ridiculous. Also, I've been watching you since you had a few thousand subs and only just noticed you're almost at 150k! Congrats Thrifty!! 🎉🎉🎉
The beginning sequences were what replaced ricks memories of carl, originally he held onto carl and his memories, but eventually he forgot what carl looked like, and all he ever thought about was michonne.
It’s a good lesson in how we fans think up of how a story should go and what the reality of the writers and show runners do. However you’re right it did seem too easy and that’s likely by design…I’m sure there will be much more to come
8/10 for me. It wasn't as strong production as I was expecting it to be, but cosidering the amount of time that's gone and hunger for Rick's story I can't go not apprieciating what we got. Still the quality of it was much better than wat we were getting in the OG series.
You stole the words straight from my mouth I’m such a huge walking dead fan watched everything there is to this universe and really are hoping to see Rick reunite with the og group and meet all the new charters apart of the commonwealth, would be such a cool thing to have all the characters from fear and all the characters from the original walking dead show team up to defeat 1 last giant threat in a 24 episode final season to wrap everything up and give a final ending to everyone
I'm very satisfied with the end of this show. While I did also want Rick reunited with Daryl, Carol, Gabriel, Morgan, Maggie, Aaron and Negan, this is OK. I did not watch Dead City (the synopses I read sounded "meh"), but I did watch Daryl Dixon and was unimpressed. I will continue to read their synopses and not spend my valuable time watching, hoping that somewhere there will be an episode where they all eventually reunite (with Rick and Michonne as show guests). That episode I will watch.
I love this video and how you said two things can be true at once. So many people in all fandoms need to understand this. I appreciated your honest thoughts on the show and the universe. TOWL is everything that I hoped for and I’m still all in to see how the rest of the shows play out individually.
The point of the sequences with Michonne’s. Was to show Rick trying to hang on. That’s why she burns up in a similar way to Carl. When Rick is explaining what they took from him. It was meant to show Rick finally letting go. They show you that at the end of the episode.
Those metal leashes are tough. A singular hatchet would not cut through them. He would need something a lot stronger and they wouldn't give him anything that would cut through it so the hand was his best option. It did urk me however that he didn't even make it 100 ft lol
It’s interesting, I introduced my girlfriend to the walking dead in the past year and now we’ve watched it all. Waiting for this show to come out, I had so many expectations and questions. Somehow, this show managed to satisfy me greatly but also severely let me down. I don’t actually think this will be the last we see of Officer Friendly, regardless of what we’ve been told - to me it just feels like his story has a tiny bit more to tell. I also don’t know if the CRM is really gone, unless they’ve just Scott Gimple’d it and ruined their own potential by selling themselves short, they felt too big to beat in one episode. I think it requires more effort. Not six episodes, either a new show (with a good number of episodes) or movies which would ultimately serve as the finale. I’m now torn between wanting more and being happy with what we got. I’m not sure where I’ll ultimately end up. I am thankful though. I love this universe, it’s a work of art (which sometimes stumbled) and now I got to share it with someone I love. Thank you AMC.
I really enjoyed the CRM, I personally would of loved to see Rick swear on the sword and bring his friends and family to them. Beale had a lot of respect for Rick and even believed Rick can lead one day. Rick would be able to reunite with everyone while influencing Beale in making changes within or creating an entire season dedicated to our survivors, taking on Beale and the elites. Rick definitely wasn't cutting that lead with his ax, even so he didn't have the time to hack away at it. Something about the Rick and Michonne dynamic bothers me. I enjoy these characters more when they aren't together. I feel like we see their true characters on their own more together 🤷🏽♂️ Overall, this was a great show. im really glad we got it! Appreciate your content as always!
The CRM being defeated in this show and the way they got defeated wouldn't bother me if this was meant to be the big endgame style finale. Like, if there wasn't any other spin-offs, no Dead City or Daryl Dixon spin-off. Just this spin-off, the Ones who Live (possibly even sticking to the original plan of this being a movie trilogy), and it was the big finale, then i think it would've been easier to accept.
Seriously, We watched the World Beyond right before this show. It made Jadis make sense. To understand her place in the story you really should watch Word Beyond right before.
Rick lost his hand in the comics when the Governor cut it off. I think they finally played up to that part in the end because everyone that was fans of the comics and had complaints about the TV show, knew Rick Grimes as the one handed Sheriff. So made the character complete in the end.
I found the ending so stupid. What should have happened is that they just fled the CRM after the heli crash. I find them destroying the CRM so damn stupid and also puts the nail in the coffin for humanity. The plot armor was also terrible. Its like "Who would win a large military faorce of thousands of highly trained soldiers who have been surviving, training and completing missions in a post apocolyptic world for 20 years....OR...2 people with the 'We can do anything when we are together' plot".
I've always said the same about those who criticise Chandler Riggs for bad acting in early seasons of The Walking Dead and about RJ's actor. Henry's actor, too. I blame the scriptwriters for bad child characters.
i love your videos. i have been watching them since before the spin offs were released. Even tho i feel like The Ones Who Live told the story to fast and I thought the CRM would play a bigger enemy but I'm happy the show happened. I was worried we would never see Rick Grimes again. I can't wait to watch this video.
At Morgan's end on FTWD when he literally said he was going to look for Rick I was ecstatic. If they leave such a beautiful scenario as this untold would be a complete travesty. Even if morgan never finds rick, his search would make for wonderful story telling. So if they leave morgan oit of it, ima be sad as shit because despite people's disdain for morgan as a character, I loved morgan
I really want The Ones Who Live to continue, especially since Scott M. Gimple, Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira haven't denied it and i really want more Walking Dead shows. I've seen all 11 seasons and am in a rewatch along with watching World Beyond and Fear for the first time.
I'm really curious to see the direction the spin offs will take because i can easily see so many first time viewers in the future watch the main show, then watch TOWL for closure on Rick and Michonne's story and that would be enough for them. The story starts with Rick, so ending with him reuniting with his family does make for a great end point
The Ones Who Live reminds me a lot of the situation with El Camino and Breaking Bad. It’s meant to be a bit of an epilogue, and supposed to really finish off the story for certain people. Everyone built it up to be something more than it was going to be. Was it rushed? Maybe a little bit towards the end. Was there plot armor? Maybe, but Rick has already proven he has THE plot armor (i refer you to the fucking bridge scene). Was I disappointed? No. I wasn’t expecting much more than Rick and Michonne reuniting, and maybe one of them dying. I was a little miffed by how they wasted Terry O’Quinn, given his talent as an actor, but again, this show wasn’t meant to truly set up something else. Like El Camino, it was meant to give closure. And it did that beautifully. I loved every second of this show and while Im sad its done, I am glad we got it Side Note: Everyone hop off RJ. The kid has two or three lines. Did you really expect him to deliver? Especially since he has zero character whatsoever. He is moreso a symbol than a real character. Also? HE IS A KID!! Not everyone can be Chandler Riggs. So please, hop off. He is a kid.
This was it for me, it was the ending i wanted. I am a member of the Fandom, so i will watch Darly and Negan because I owe it to the franchise. Like i said, this was the ending my heart needed and wanted. Love your commentary.
In my opinion I would keep the fact that the two of them would take out all the frontliners but instead, I think it would be cooler if like rick didn't kill beale during echelon and beale still didn't believe he was on board so he would ride on a heli with rick so he can prove he is by killing portland or whatever, and michonne secretly gets in the heli but thorne does too so there's a fight midair and eventually thorne agrees with michonne and rick and while they cinematicly blow up Cascadia while beale watches then they throw him out the heli or something but I'm not a writer but I feel like that would be more entertaining and more logical even maybe also if they woulda showed Philadelphia one more time that woulda been nice Ik they weren't gonna show commonwealth or Alexandria because they'd have to rebuild set or whatever but thas just my thoughts on the series the rest was good
Great video as always. Overall I felt the same as you. BUT, I CRIED at the end when they got their happy ending. Its what I needed and exactly wanted. I'm happy. Also, thank you for mentioning the horrible people leaving nasty comments about the actor for RJ. Hes a kid, be kind everyone!
I wonder what they could have done with 8 or 10 episodes instead of just the 6. Just fleshing things out a little bit more would have made me feel just a little bit better about it as a whole.
For Rick in the gas, I think the tissue was soaked, so he had a soaked up mask on his face, like WW1 soldiers when chlorine gas was dropped and they had no gas masks. So for this part it kinda makes sense that he didn't feel to much effects. In ep2 Michonne had a tissue but it wasn't soaked.
If you told me back when the two first hooked up in the show that their story would end with Rick using a tarp and substitution jutsu to dodge two major explosions that would kill anyone I'd completely believe you.

The dream sequences were explained in episode 4. After Rick “lost” Carl again, he started to dream about Michonne. That helped him mentally cope with his loneliness.
Why don't ppl get this??? JFC it was explained.
Thank you! How was that confusing? lol
(Damn you, Okafor!!)
In the final dream, she’s all in white, he proposes and as he kisses her, like the letters he’d burned, she burns away, saying “I believe in you”, and he notices he has a left hand.
How did anyone not understand that these were dreams?
Am I giving too much credit to peoples comprehension levels these days?
Yeah…..this was obvious!
I think he was filming these as the episodes were airing
I cried at the end, when Rick and Judith hugged. It reminded me of Rick dropping everything and running towards Judith, thinking she was dead, but she was saved by Tyreece and Carol.
I cried too, however I feel like the reunion in season 5 was soooooo much more emotional than this one, and it’s been literal years, in universe and out, since they even saw each other. Maybe it’s just me, but I just did not feel the emotion

okafor made the show great, when he died it became bad.
i actually liked the 4th episode the most in terms of writing but nothing can beat the ending of the last episode i mean it was literally 6 years in the making
I like all the episodes, but the first was emmy-winning.

Huh? You mean the guy doing an awful Denzel Washington impression? You're basic.
the show was very good, and i agree that the first episode was the best, but oh man, the 6th episode, so rushed and so underwhelming
I keep hearing everyone say “where did the gas mask come from?”
There were two gas masks in Rick’s bag that Thorne made him drop.
That’s why under the wet flag, Rick told michone to get “the other one” they had two gas masks.
It was obvious to me first time around but looking back I see how it was confusing for so many people
Was going to say, I didn't know either, and I'm pretty observant, but the second watch I seen it during the scene where rick says they could just go.
@@matthewsmith7802 ooooh, you’re right. I was so focused on what he was saying ( because it was emotional) that I totally ignored what items he was packing. Thank you.
@@merp9211 I didn't notice either!
I saw him pack a gas mask and obviously the one thorne had
You gotta remember that in WB the crm was working on a gas that turns anyone who dies into walkers faster, so that’s what we saw used in the finale
Warner Brothers
and yet, somehow our people didn't turn.
They were protected but the cloth mask and the water they tell you when there's smoke try covering your face or getting low to the ground water is like a wall to gas
no we don’t have to remember lol that doesn’t change anything
It's actually the other way. They were working on Project Votus, their goal was to remove reanimation. They tested it with Omaha and the campus Colony
Rick and Michone scenes are just Rick creating the scenario for him not to forget her and her face just like what happened with Carl.
That’s what I thought too but it still makes me sad

Completely agree.
I still think we need to see him reunite with Daryl & Morgan.
Loved the series.Thank you to Andrew Lincoln and Danai Guraria for coming back and giving us fan's the happy ending that we always wanted ❤❤❤❤
idk how killing 3000 people is a good ending.
The Grimes family reunion was the perfect ending. That's what I meant
I thought it sucked.
That’s a cool detail ( “a broken world”). I didn’t make the connection before reading your comment. 👍🏽
For us it was one season... For Rick and Michonne... It's been 8 years. I have zero complaints ❤
It's the shorter episode count that more and more seasons of shows are going to. Harder to time out a good season with less than 8.
found your channel a year ago when i started rewatching and finally finished TWD. you're my go-to creator for recaps, reviews, theories, rankings etc. even outside of TWD. glad after all the speculation and hype we finally got answers in this great season.
A million theories, a million possibilities, all of them wrong and not happenning. This was way too rushed it's laughable the way they ended CRM.
Finally Rick has a conclusion. For me that is. Great video buddy I’m happy for Richonne ❤😊
There's a few things I disliked about the series but I was watching to see the expansion of the walking dead universe and thoroughly enjoyed it

but if you actually compare all those seasons to first 2, none of them gets even close, they were really good.
I felt way more when Carl ran up to Rick than at the ending of this show with Judith and RJ
I think that’s because Chandler was such a talented little actor.
That's because carl lived his whole life with Rick and Lori, at least 8 years. Rick left when Judith was 5 and was gone for 8 years. That math maths.
@merp9211
Chandler acted better as a child. When he became a teenager, he stopped giving into his performances.
@@Poufkimashoula1 Yeah, his acting in seasons 1-2 were top notch imo. Especially after they got on the farm.
He wasn’t wearing body armor he was wearing PLOT ARMOR! Get your facts straight bruh
@@OhandTwelveI beg your pardon? What was that black and red stuff on him eh?
Nah bro he’d have been messed up too not bounce straight up sweet lol
Some things to note about the gas in ep 6 are 1. Michonne notes that it breaks up quickly. She was caught in the initial blast that first time unlike the second time and 2. I don’t think a few seconds go in universe between the gas detonating and people turning to walkers. This could easily have been a few minutes
The dreaming of Michonne and Carl kept him alive in this world, this was the meaning of the sequences
But the more you think about it I think there’s a lot of problems with the narrative it’s the type of thing on why I dropped this show early on and only watch videos about it for fun to see what happened
This is subjective but I don’t really like just how long he was gone or that he cut off his hand (which was only done to mirror the comic). There’s also no reason they couldn’t have just found his family and friends and brought them in
I don’t remember the guy’s name in the first episode who found his letter then died in the helicopter but how believable it is really that he just gives up after finding out he has info on him? He still could have killed him and anyone else who had info. Or you could question why wasn’t the info shared with the higher ups. I also don’t buy the emotional argument he gave in episode 4 for why he was hesitant to take the risk in coming back it seemed out of character. His logical argument made more sense and was proven to be true when they came after them. Her coming alone was questionable and them helping strangers and not killing them after they turned on them was a mistake rookies would make
The ending while the best one could hope for it at this point I think feels a bit dry not only because other characters are missing for the time being but it’s exactly that, the best one could hope for.
Some of you are slow and insufferable
It did stink of Hollywood plot, however, I’d take this short and sweet series over the boring, bloated and repetitive seasons that we used to get.
I’ve been waiting for you review for so long, the fact it’s an hour I am so excited. I love your channel and I will comment after I finish the vid.
I think there will be more to come from Rick and Michonne, especially since he has still yet to reunite with Daryl, Negan, Morgan, and others.
I think Rick and Michonne will reunite with the rest of the family on a spin-off. Maybe Dead City….
It’s so weird they didn’t include a story of Rick searching down a ressurection stone to revive Carl, either that or hunt down the time stone smh
What the hell is a time stone?
Super late to this video but at the end when you said it seemed like something was missing from the reunion with Rick’s family at the end, the thing missing is Carl. He’s such an integral part of Rick’s character that not having him there just makes the whole family thing ring hollow. Still by far the worst decision they ever made on the show was to kill Carl off.
Agreed. And it was such a waste of a death.
It was meant to be 3 films but covid happened so it changed to a series
Funny part is it's nearly exactly the length of 3 movies lol.
3 movies at 2 hours each is 6 hours,
This series is 6 episodes at 1 hour each, actually it's closer to 45 each, as every episode has a different runtime, but still it's about 6 hours?
Unfortunately, this led to the audience having certain expectations for them, to the point that it was inevitable that many would be disappointed.
i mean that’s just not true because there in the comics if i’m not mistaken
@@VinnyGuardinonope, they are not in the comics in any form. The closest we got is the commonwealth and its army but that’s a different entity also in the show.
@@TheTechPoTaToCHIP Lol yea i looked it up that’s dumb tbh. They rlly wasted a storyline by blowing it up
@@VinnyGuardino meh, I was personally hyped for the show for Rick and Michonne, I always knew the CRM storyline wouldn’t be some big avengers endgame style crossover so many content creators are building it up to be and when Danai said TOWL was a love story, I knew that it will focus more on characters than the CRM plot so I adjusted my expectations accordingly.

Confusing to me of how confused you were with the dream sequences 😂 Dude was mentally breaking down for years. His dreams were one of the main things keeping him sane & having hope.
Love your content bro, happy to finally watch this.
59:40 full respect for trying to defend rjs actor don’t make fun of child actors
Beale talking about the rising threat of the variants would have given us so much more to see ahead. That actually would have been such great setup and that single detail I think would have redeemed the ending of TOWL for me.
I think the reason they show the Rick and Michonne dream sequence so you can see how Rick sees/remembers Michonne.
Terry O’Quinn has been that dude since The Stepfather. His talent was underused in this series.

I know your comment is a month old but I’m currently re-watching TWD and I’m on the episode right after Rick blows up the bridge.
Make it happen"
That man is known as The Chin himself, Bruce Campbell.
The something that was missing in the final scene's reunion was Carl 😭
I really loved this show and am very happy with it, but it could have been better with maybe 10 episodes to adequately flesh out both the CRM and Beale; and to show the reunion with the kids, Alexandria and the Commonwealth.
Completely agree about people shitting on RJ's actor, that's ridiculous.
Also, I've been watching you since you had a few thousand subs and only just noticed you're almost at 150k! Congrats Thrifty!! 🎉🎉🎉
I can't wait to see what is next for your channel going forward.
I love TWD but your other content is great too.
I’ll stop when either they find a cure, or Daryl and Rick reunite with a happy ending
the dreams w michonne were addressed in one of the episodes rick’s talks about how they took carl away from his dreams and he started to see her
The point of the sequences with Michonne’s. Was to show Rick trying to hang on. That’s why she burns up in a similar way to Carl. When Rick is explaining what they took from him. It was meant to show Rick finally letting go. They show you that at the end of the episode.
Keep up the amazing content Thrifty 👏
Those metal leashes are tough. A singular hatchet would not cut through them. He would need something a lot stronger and they wouldn't give him anything that would cut through it so the hand was his best option. It did urk me however that he didn't even make it 100 ft lol
Same
Great series! I loved it! The reunion scene was beautiful and one my favorite scenes in any TV show ever
I feel like we see their true characters on their own more together 🤷🏽♂️
Overall, this was a great show. im really glad we got it! Appreciate your content as always!
I loved the show through and through. All of it was great to me.
Clearly the ‘dumbing down’ has been a resounding success.
Never trust anyone who calls people “Non-Necrotic Human Life.” 🤦🏽♀️
😂
The CRM being defeated in this show and the way they got defeated wouldn't bother me if this was meant to be the big endgame style finale. Like, if there wasn't any other spin-offs, no Dead City or Daryl Dixon spin-off. Just this spin-off, the Ones who Live (possibly even sticking to the original plan of this being a movie trilogy), and it was the big finale, then i think it would've been easier to accept.
Great vid. I was so confused why we didn’t get an episode after episode 5 and 6, worth the wait tho.
5:24 these scenes hit deep. Like rick said this was the only escapism he got
i love your videos. i have been watching them since before the spin offs were released. Even tho i feel like The Ones Who Live told the story to fast and I thought the CRM would play a bigger enemy but I'm happy the show happened. I was worried we would never see Rick Grimes again. I can't wait to watch this video.
Glad u mentioned heath. His unexplained disappearance always bothered me.
So if they leave morgan oit of it, ima be sad as shit because despite people's disdain for morgan as a character, I loved morgan
Agreed
I loved every second of this show and while Im sad its done, I am glad we got it
Side Note: Everyone hop off RJ.
In my opinion
I would keep the fact that the two of them would take out all the frontliners but instead, I think it would be cooler if like rick didn't kill beale during echelon and beale still didn't believe he was on board so he would ride on a heli with rick so he can prove he is by killing portland or whatever, and michonne secretly gets in the heli but thorne does too so there's a fight midair and eventually thorne agrees with michonne and rick and while they cinematicly blow up Cascadia while beale watches then they throw him out the heli or something but I'm not a writer but I feel like that would be more entertaining and more logical even maybe
also
if they woulda showed Philadelphia one more time that woulda been nice Ik they weren't gonna show commonwealth or Alexandria because they'd have to rebuild set or whatever but thas just my thoughts on the series the rest was good
Great video as always.
27:45 this could parallel how TWD was so successful it inspired a new wave of a zombie apocalypse which is super cool to think about
Yes the explosion made no sense but I think the excuse for Rick not being affected by the gas is because he wet his mask vs michonne not doing that.
I loved the end of Rick’s story. Also, thanks for defending RJ. He’s only a kid.
This is my jumping off point for the franchise
I wonder what they could have done with 8 or 10 episodes instead of just the 6. Just fleshing things out a little bit more would have made me feel just a little bit better about it as a whole.
i gotta be at subway at 11am, and it’s 2:01am rn. on goddd im finishing this video tn
