Andrew Lincoln is hands down a PHENOMENAL actor. He was always the *perfect* Rick Grimes. Why he never won an Emmy award for his performance is beyond me.
@@firstlast9846this. it definitely felt like most of the time he’s trying to hard but i would say in the earlier seasons, he at least deserved one but there’s a lot of other great characters out there
honestly extremely accurate, i quit soon after glenn, one friend gave up when they seemed to drag out negan in the main plot and another friend of mine left with carl. The story keeps going and it works for some people but it gets so mundane, we each all decided to stop one day and that's about it

Gimpel is a great example that you can only write characters as clever, smart, funny etc as you are. “All my characters….talk slow… and .. only in phrases.. *stares into distance for 45 seconds. I also love…to waste time… on dream sequences that… don’t move the plot….because I… can’t tell a story “
Yeah and every time there’s a new character, once they have a second scene with a main character they give a long. Drawn. Out. Backstory. To explain why they do things they do and why they’re a character, to die the same episode. The writing is 💩
Wait, THAT'S what the CRM is all about?! That's the same shit everyone else does in the zombie apocalypse! You kill other people for their resources so that you can survive. Wow, what a fucking revolutionary concept!

When the truly great writing choices had to come from Danai and Andrew having to go in and fight for them cause Scott Gimple doesn’t understand these characters, I knew what we were in for

@@eldritchteapot7753 I’ve read the comics, I was talking about the tv show characters. In a lot of ways they are very different people and I wanted a good ending for them. As a whole I do think the comics are way better than the show overall.

As someone who's been playing Hades II, I feel this, got to the last boss almost every run since my second one. And then I fail there... every single time
I think series like TWD make me appreciate shows like Breaking Bad more, where they only had a single movie and a reallly really good spinoff show come from it instead of trying to flood the market with more shows and spinoffs trying to ride the main shows success. This just shows less is more
It’s why i appreciate Vince so much. The guy knows how to make a franchise without it being tiring. He could have made BB longer than five seasons. They were willing to let him do that and give him more money. But he actively said no and let it go out on its own terms. I wish more writers and shows would have this mindset. Sometimes a show’s long term integrity is more important than money or spin-offs.
My favorite part was Rick finally coming to terms with Carl’s death. That was such an impactful scene and Andy’s performance during that segment was absolutely perfect. The part where they showed Rick walking with Carl and remembering the son that he lost paired with the music I think perfectly incapsulated that loss and trauma he experienced.
The Walking Dead can never improve. It has the Gilligan’s Island problem where they can never solve the problem without ending the franchise. Everything will always be a rinse and repeat of what came before with minor twists. Even the comic realized this so it just abruptly ended with Rick dying followed by a time jump where they have managed to deal with Zombies while looking at a statue of Rick in his honor.
Yeah, I said the same thing. The only thing that will get people interested now is having a cure and a the end. The "fan favorite" characters all have plot armor and the writers just love them to an unhealthy degree, or they are pandering to the remaining fans who like the pandering. These shows now just change locations, then give the exact same plot, every time. It is boring.
@@rafaelarcas942 It should be easy to understand. The show Gilligan's Island could never have them get off the Island or the show would end. As such every attempt to get off the Island was guaranteed to fail. They eventually did get off the Island in a made for TV movie but then ended up back on the Island at the end. How it applies to The Walking Dead is that if they ever solve the Zombie Apocalypse the show ends. If they ever make it to a safe place where there are no threats the show ends. As a result they will always be recycling the same struggles over and over again to keep the show going. They always run into a new group that is a threat and overcome that group. Or else they run into a new zombie threat they overcome. Rinse and repeat.
Most people forgot that there were Walking Dead spin-offs. I miss the time when you were excited for new episode of Walking Dead. Those were good times and I will always cherish those memories.
Even talking about the show itself, they did Nat and Okafor dirty. 1 episode? dude, all that filler moments in 2-6 can be replaced with Nat, Okafor and even with Jadis' life in CRM stories and in detail without taking much of the spotlight from Rick and Michonne. But nooo, Nat and only gets to tell his story, and Jadis' death seems like it could have had more impact than.. whatever happened there
I think he would have to put on alot of weight and get his accent thicker but I see what you’re getting at. I don’t think i’ve ever seen an actor that would fit Arthur or John but That guy that played Mutt in Schitts Creek and Doc Holiday in Wynnona Earp would make a really cool dutch. I don’t think I could emotionally handle seeing Hosea and Arthur die in a live action movie lol. the fact that what won against the crm (the most hyped, biggest military faction in the new world) was the power of love sounds like some kind of twisted joke.
It’s not a joke it’s the writers being dead serious and simply woke and let’s be real if both where white the power of life crap wouldn’t have been a thing.

I really hated how the series built up the CRM to be some sort of elite military force only to have them be a complete paper tiger. But in general I don't think most writers know how to depict a professional military force so that is hardly a problem that is unique to TWD. Pretty often the depiction become a pretty cartoonish distortion of how the writers think a military force acts.
This reminds me of the motherland show. Briefly, witches are real since Salem and are the military of US and every witch gets conscripted at 18 with no right to refuse. It was a fun show after you get past the fact that their “military” is incompetent at a crazy scale.
Yeah that was a massive disappointment, they set them up as the Main twd Villian since season 6 and completely defeat them in a single episode in the finale. When the movie were announced I expected Rick to slowly build up a rebellion and overthrow the CRM or something but to just end it with "All the bad Guy CRM are dead so now we're good again" was really fucking lame.
For real, like isn't the CRM a military force and the combination of all branches in the US military. That means there are Marines, probably SEALS and AF pilots which gave the CRM countless military experience and strategic mindsets and they was beaten by a damn Cop and a black samurai.
Damn it could’ve been so good if in the end Rick meets his son and things are heartfelt but a little awkward cause like here’s this kid that he’s never met before and this kid doesn’t know Rick other than stories but then the last scene is Rick and Michone tucking their kids into bed and his son asks him to tell a story so Rick with tears in his eyes sits down with him and Judith and Michone and says “There once was a hero named Carl” and fade to black. Like that would’ve been so good to show that he has connected with his family fully and calls back to the comics how Carl was the ultimate hero there
Even then that ending is such a slap in the face to viewers. This shows ending should’ve been some version of old man carl adaptation. The moment the show killed him it was the final “shot in the head” for the show.

the first episode was the best walking dead anything in the last eight years! the rest of the episodes seemed rushed. it seemed like they put all their hearts and souls (and all that time writing during covid) into the first episode and then, months before filming, they were like... "oh yeah, we need more episodes." this series deserved to be a 3 hour long movie.
26:27 Im sure hes kidding but for anyone who hasnt seen the show. Michone does this because Rick refuses to leave, he finds a way to allow michone to escape but not him too. IT'S A STEEL CABLE YOU CANNOT BREAK IT WITH AN AXE!! lol I will continue shouting this from the mountaintops because it blows me how many people think an axe would cut through that
Thank you! I even knew the cable couldn’t be cut just hearing it unravel in the spool on the CRM Soldiers. That, and I think some people forgot this is Rick Grimes, he obviously would’ve tried cutting the rope/cable before going for the Hail Mary option.
@@zacharymenchaca2336 Right! He obviously would have tried it if it had even a 1% chance of working. Next people will be saying Negan's bat can blast through brick walls
@@scottsspotyou are wrong. I am profesional blacksmith and swordsmith and I know for sure he would be absolutely able to cut that cable. Because axes are also from steel and has bigger mass. We (blacksmiths) use chisels and hardcuts to cut even bigger pieces of steel and it's has similar shape and material as axes. If he had enough of time to heat up an axe, which is actually a big chunk of metal and would take forever to properly heat up, then he had enough of time to heat up that cable which would soften it and made it even easier. Sure, it would make a lot of noice, but cutting hand off would be much higher risk as no matter how big badass you are, you can got into a shock and then bleed to death as pre-heating exe like this wouldn't be enough to close up artery. This is just bad writing in a show that had no logic, not even when it was still good.
@@boredinczechia4382 so you’re certain the CRM don’t give him an old, likely dull axe? Or that it weighs anywhere near enough to create the necessary force? He obviously has no way to heat up the axe or the cable, so honestly I don’t see it being possible at all. He also can’t even pull it taught for attempting a cut anyways, it has tons of slack. Perhaps in a blacksmith setting, with a sharpened axe, a heated cable, the cable pulled extremely taught, and with a hard surface beneath it, it is possible. Not in a forest with what’s likely to be a 10+ year old axe and a dude with no blacksmithing knowledge. Seems perfectly realistic to me
It's still light years ahead of tv a couple decades ago. Try and find consistently good tv shows from 2000 to 2009 besides futurama. There's way more quality out there, there's just also a lot more attention on what's being made in general.

A lot of ppl are trying to play it safe with basic, bland, generic "art" to have the largest appeal possible. So I think that's why we continue to get things like this, along with reboots, revivals, and remakes. Spinoff's, too. Risks are risky, after all. You might not get a return on investment.
Wait a second! So Rick decides to blow up the CRM, only after he learns that they’re destroying and looting other communities, right? (I haven’t watched this show) That would make sense, as in, he tries to protect Alexandria from that fate. My biggest issues would be: 1) why Michonne would risk leaving her children, to look for Rick, where for 99% he would be dead? Either in aftermath of the bridge scene, or after so many years, everything could happen to him, how the hell would she find him? Just go through grief and take care of your kids, who are present. 2) In the end, CRM’s resources are redistributed. What about those 200 000 people that lived there? Do they agree to that, do they starve? How Rick managed to organise those helicopters? One could spend entire episode on that, and instead it’s cramped into finales aftermath.
Steel cable is very hard to cut through, especially against soft ground, and with the number of times rick had tried to escape, i think it was implied that he had probably tried by cutting the cable in the past and it just didn't work Granted a simple 5 second shot of him trying to cut the cable first would have helped, but i don't think its really a problem
I find it incredibly ironic that The Walking Dead. The show infamous for its absurd amount of filler and slow burns. Finally, after 11 seasons and 3 other spin off shows, the shows big endgame ends up feeling rushed.
Another thing I wonder, how did they get home? Neither of them knew that they all left behind Alexandria and the Hilltop to live at the Commonwealth, so realistically, they'd likely just show up to a completely empty Alexandria.
I mean when Michonne used the radio to contact and meet up with Judith, she could have told them to meet near the Commonwealth, which is still plausible. We don't need stuff like that spoon fed to us.
That bit about sunk cost fallacy of mediocre TV shows speaks to me. I think there’s a lot of power in streaming that we’re not utilizing. There’s 100 years worth of film and maybe 70 years worth of television in existence and a lot of it is sitting on streaming platforms as “content”. And instead of watching the greatest movies and TV shows in the history of media, we’re wasting our time watching mediocre fare just because it’s new. But there’s a world of better and more entertaining stuff in the back catalogues of every streaming service that we ignore. I’m starting to think that we’re so trained to keep consuming new stuff because that’s kind of how our economy and society functions that we’re wasting an opportunity to exploit these platforms’ need for content. There’s a bunch of gold nuggets buried amongst the old batteries and used tissues that previous generations have already told us, “Here is the best art my generation has created,” and we’re just ignoring them like, “No thanks. I’m pretty focused on this pile of used tissues right now. They’re on top of the pile at the moment.”
They would have so many more interesting storylines to work with if they didn’t kill Carl. I wasn’t even a Carl fan. I didn’t like the kid. But I didn’t want him dead FFS! Carl’s safety was what Rick lived for. The show made that clear and then threw it in the trash. And for absolutely no reason. I see no justification for killing him. After he died, we had to just watch and pretend that Rick gives AF about being alive anymore. And I initially liked Michonne and Rick together but not after they killed Carl as he was a large part of their relationship dynamic. Now their relationship just looks awkward.
Doesn’t matter about Carl the writing is bad the show got bad because of bad writing that started with Carl they even did a 180 with his character when alive shit I remember people being glad he got killed off.
Carl died literally just bc his actor wanted to leave the show, he explained that he just wanted to go to college and move on in his life. And allegedly thats why rick's actor also left twd so he could get a break and see his family more. So, yea it doesnt make sense for the show bc it wouldve been better if they survived. But when a show goes on for THAT long you have to realize that the actors might want to end their time before the show is ready for it narratively
@cabbagejuice I heard that the actor who plays Carl moved closer to set and was looking into colleges in the area so he could be more involved? If I remember correctly him being fired was out of nowhere and he and his family were upset because of how sudden it was. The actor recently turned 18 and they didn't want to pay him as a full adult actor so they fired him
Just imagine what we could've had if Danai Guraira had been brought on as an executive producer back during season 7 ot 8 (as was her due) and she could've fought for so many characters we had grown to love?
You'd call her a c*nt if she did that. Sorry but Walking Dead has a mostly male audience, she would be careful not to overstep the way women who enter male franchises have (Kathleen Kennedy)
bro she isn’t a world renowned writer 😂 yes she wrote a very good episode but that doesn’t mean she has the ability a whole story arc with 2 seasons of content

So the CRM big twist was that they're the Saviors, who were Woodbury Which is the only major type of villain the show ever had. Heck, wven Rick's group was that villain to others.
So like… Andrew Lincoln is an incredible actor who, I thought, at one point wanted to gtfo of TWD for the sake of not getting typecast or pigeonholed or turned away from roles. I wonder if he wishes he had. He’s incredible, I would LOVE to see him in more, I just can’t help but wonder if clinging to this particular paycheck was a bad call in the long run.
That man’s net worth is like 30 million and a large chunk of that is from the walking dead of course he can never act again and he’ll be fine for the most part plus unlike other famous protagonist roles Andrew has showed pretty much every single human emotion in his performance as Rick grimes and can portray a stoic hero and at times a brutal anti hero so in terms of just pure acting he showed he can play almost any single archetype
Another thing that bugs me about Scott Gimple is that he always seems to be HOVERING around the main actors at red carpets, some interviews, and other related events. It’s giving me helicopter parent vibes and it’s just off-putting.
You clearly must not watch many shows he’s doing that because he’s the show runner. Look at anytime they interviewed Vince Gilligan for breaking bad are better call Saul he’s the main guy the person making all the decisions so they typically have you on the red carpet because they’re gonna want to ask you questions about the show questions that actors would not know about. Trust me, I know how this industry works. I work professionally as a filmmaker. I’ve even worked on a few episodes of The Walking Dead years ago. I’ve been to the Emmys, the Grammys and the Oscars. It’s not just a walking dead thing.
maybe I'm weird... i stopped watching in season 9 and only spin off i watched was FTWD (2 seasons then quit) but i like the lore of TWD more than I like the show. still love the lore, but i think FSN said it best @1:53 "TWD has gotten very comfortable with being consistently mediocre" all these years and that is the ultimate way to describe it. even during the main shows run; it was times where you tell showrunners were just mailing it in. still a fan of the lore, but the showrunners never gave it their all IMO. it was just ok for them to be just ok.

Ok ok I hate Gimplespeak and his creative touch as much as the next guy but I'll give him one thing and its those dreams. They do actually matter, in episode 4 when Rick is breaking down and says he can't see Carl's face anymore and starts dreaming of Michonne and those dreams are what have been keeping him alive so they are important not only to the story but to Rick as well. So I get wanting to hate on Gimple because that man's character writing is atrocious but those dreams actually mean something to the story.
12:31 THe idea of exploring male (hero)vulnerability was honestly interesting and a topic rarely explored. A strong female allows for a place to be created for the hero to be vulnerable.
Honestly I just find it kind of dumb that they're still looking for Rick. The tension in that entirely comes from the fact the audience knows he's still alive. But the fact the characters just refuse to believe he died is just...really silly. Yeah yeah I get it they love him and everything but what possible reason would you think he's alive? There's no way anyone would know that someone picked him up in a fucking helicopter, maybe if they saw that I could buy them looking for whoever took him but all they saw was that he either got blown up or fell in a river and then either died or somehow didn't. And yeah I know that they also want to find him at all even if he's dead for some closure but still it's been 5 years in a world infested with zombies, there's no logical reason to conclude maybe he's still alive or that his shambling corpse I guess just went on a huge cross country trip. If freaking Daryl couldn't find him for years then they should have just considered him dead. It makes much more sense that he just died and got eaten like his first wife.
it entirely hinges on him being the main character and the writing treating the story like a franchise. The characters don’t act like people would irl, they act like they have meta knowledge that he is ~important ~
@@ginster458except he wasn’t the main character for years as these characters where being made to look for him it’s fucking dumb. I think the first four episodes are the best The Walking Dead has had to offer in a while. The last two are just normal Walking Dead episodes. I only cared about Rick and Michonne because they have the most compelling story out of all the characters in the TWD universe so I'm overall happy with this series but I wish it was like two more episodes.
Ive literally said the exact say things! I wholeheartedly agree! Very well said. If they'd made it 10 episodes like the original SO MUCH could've been said and done.
I wish Walking dead could get the budget and a solid director/producer, like Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, they know how to create a great storyline and make it interesting and solid visually.❤
26:58 So Rick only wanted to stay in order to ensure everyone could be safe. He cpuldnt risk the CRM coming after his people, and they would if both he and Michone went missing (short hair lady would have known they survived). Ricks also lost all hope, and is genuinely dealing a lrvel of Stockholm syndrome in regards to his time with the CRM. He absolutely is not oushing forward the idea that the CRM is right.
Your channel is the only way I can keep up to date with TWD. I just lost interested completely around season 7ish, and never really got the pull to check it out. I watched Fear The Walking Dead for like 1 season, and TWD S7, then stopped and never went back. It's a pity. I used to love this show back in the day, when you were describing this series, I was literally thinking "it sounds liek Fast & Furios", then you literally said it. Geez. I just can't believe they didn't take this chance to reunite all the characters from this unverse, have a final battle with this "Thanos level Enemy" (as you put it) and then we'd get some sort of satisfying ending to the TWD unvierse. Oh well, can't milk a dead cow I gues... At the end of the day, I'm glad I watched 8 episodes of Shogun this month (epic limited series BTW), and not this. (I was kind of considering it, when I saw the trailer)
I don't know if I would call it wasted potential. I think it delivered on what I've been wanting to see ever since Andrew Lincoln left in season 9: Getting reunited with his family. I did not expect the show to resolve that in just 1 season with 6 episodes, compared to how Daryl Dixon will get a (completely unnecessary imo) season 3. I thought we would see a lot more of the CRM, but I think it would be problematic to make a potential season 2 interesting about that. I wouldn't mind if the show got like 2-3 episodes more and the wrapped it up. The problem with the main show for years, was that everything was dragged to eternity. It was completely unnecessary with 16 episodes pr season, and freaking 24 episodes in seasons 10 and 11. I was just happy to see Andrew Lincoln return again. It wrapped up quickly, yes, but I wouldn't call it wasted potential. The show was mostly character driven, and it was primarily about Rick and Michonne, so I understand it from a writing point of view. The only thing I missed was seeing the "season 5 machete Rick" that Gimple teased from the day that Andrew and Danai went on stage at Comic Con to announce the show 20 months ago. That Rick never appeared. But overall, I'm satisfied. They should just leave it at season 1, imo. Although I hope Rick and Michonne somehow returns again.
This CRM premise was build up that many people were expecting an endgame-like finale. But then the actual finale of TOWL feels rushed and kinda disappointing. Still a solid show tho
Then the disappointment is on them cause noone told them that was happening LOL It was told to yall that it was a Rick and Michonne show. Love story style. Not TWD season 12. Not Avengers Endgame the Remix. Not Rick and friends. Rick and Michonne. It was about them Finding each other, exploring who they become and then them finding their way back home. Thats the only thing dumber than expecting random characters that dont even know where they are to pop out the bushes and help them fight the CRM. Lmao
They still 'destroyed' the CRM in this show in a very underwhelming and rushed way. I would have been happy if it were just Rick and Michonne escaping the CRM and destroying it in another spinoff or something like that
Fuck this show and the positive feedback from fans will reassure AMC that people will love mid. I hope this franchise would just try to return to its peak of seasons 1-5 and 6 and 9
Scott Gimple is like between Roberto Aguirre Sacasa and Joshua Safran of when it come to making this show and the OG show, but he still weirdly better than those two of when it comes to writing the characters and the story
They should’ve had Danai Gurira write more episodes. They should’ve given Andy and Danai room and time to extend Episode 6 to truly dismantle the CRM. The plan initially wasn’t to do the Blow Up until Michonne received the child kidnapping meeting before destroying the entire town. That’s when Rick and Michonne decided to blow up the gathered CRM Soldiers. I think they ran out of money and time.
@@karalynspeaks4267 Beale wanted to destroy the second city to preserve resources and avoid competing, to be the #1 community. Beale believed or convinced himself the world only had 14 years left of survival. That’s what he tells Rick. The CRM was scheduled to go in gas and destroy the town, but before that, they plan to take only 10% of selected child population. Not all of the children, just 10%. After picking up the toy rabbit, Michonne enters the child extraction briefing and is understandably freaked out and horrified. After destroying Jadis’s dossier, Michonne was supposed to leave, meet Rick, and go home, but Michonne goes back grabs a box of explosives and running into Rick coming off the elevator they change their plan and impromptu decide to blow up the gathered CRM soldiers. For the time/money they had to end the series, Andy, Danai, and Gimble actually did a pretty decent job. All have endured and survived. All have had their weak moments and all of them have excellent character arcs. Which you would have seen if you'd pulled your biased head out of your ass and read the room. But if you think I'm going to choose Carol over Michonne and vice-versa or any of the other women mentioned above, then you might as well walk away right now. Bye B*tch! Gone on! Get! As someone who just started watching TWD in 2022, it took me a moment because I wasn't into the fandom comments, but when I saw it... shiiiit! It's a bunch of sexist, racist, and colorist nonsense going on. Rick Grimes is a f*cking Beast. Michonne is a samurai lioness. Daryl Dixon, who I absolutely love and would smash day or night, is a Master survivor, sexy grunting, hog-riding Bowman. Carol is a sugar cookie Super Spy. Maggie is the lethal Stateswoman. Rosita a like a female Black Ops/Ranger Soldier. Sasha is the edgy, sometimes unhinged Sniper. And hell no, I don't like Negan because rapists don't get passes in my book. He made those women want to kill themselves and would have done the same with Judith had she been of age simply to piss Rick off. How anyone can allow him to floss over that is beyond me, but that's their opinion.
@@karalynspeaks4267 Possibly, but they were taking only 10% of the child population from that town before killing everyone else: man, woman, and child. For community expansion, or maybe they thought certain kids would be assets as adults, most likely Bs who could be controlled and not make trouble. The point is that Beale, in my opinion, and not necessarily the CRM, thought it was necessary to destroy that community and take their supplies to eliminate any future rivals. He was leading that idea. After destroying Jadis's dossier, Michonne was supposed to walk away, meet up with Rick, and go home. When Michonne picked up that toy rabbit and walked into the briefing about the children being taken, she changed her mind, grabbed explosives, and told Rick what Beale/CRM had planned.
Part of me wishes the show and franchise ended with Season 8. Killing Carl was a terrible decision, but at least the Season 8 finale ended with Rick bringing all the communities together
I am quite late to TWD franchise, so I binge-watched the original 11 seasons a few months ago. What really got me hooked was that everything just made sense, every action had a consequence, it felt 'real' - well, at least until Glenn's fake death. When Rick 'disappeared' in season 9 I did not know that the actor (Andrew Lincoln) actually left the show. So I was really expecting TWD to end with Rick and Michonne getting back together (happy ending). When they didn't my TWD world finally collapsed, only to be 'resurrected' when I saw the announcement of 'The Ones Who Live'. I even subscribed to the only network that would stream this show here in the UK - and again, after watching ALL 6 episodes, my TWD world collapsed! Episode 1 was brilliant, as you said. The face of Michonne when she finally found Rick was priceless (a huge tribute to Danai's acting skills). But that was it. I might as well have just watched the last part of the last episode just to see how it ended. And even that was atrocious for reasons you have so perfectly illustrated. NOTHING made sense, NOTHING felt 'real'. And at that point I realised I was the fool for watching it.
I was a weekly watcher when the show first started. I loved the first season and especially the first episode, but I think the show peaked at episode 1, especially the art and film style. I still remember watching the series until season 5, specifically the scene where Daryl and Carol fall off a bridge in a van. At that moment I knew the series was just nonsense every week with no real risk to the main characters until the season or midseason finale. I even tried rewatching the series later to see if I could make it past that spot, and I gave up at the same season again. I loved your first Walking Dead video because I got to see how the series ended up going without having to sit down and watch it. And now I know not to waste any time with this show, even if I wasn't going to anyway lol.
I loved The Ones Who Loved. I feel they could have used one or two more episodes, but I certainly do not feel this series was boring or a waste of time. The acting was great and cinematography was beautiful.
I totally agree. People who stopped watching after Carl's death and some who stopped after Glen's death tuned in to watch TWOL and loved it. Many loved it more than all of the last 6 seasons the original show.
i think it was good. you gotta let go of season 5 savage rick. hes a broken man, and while with michonne, he finds his courage, he's never gonna go back to that older version, and it tracks.
The Walking Dead will never recover from the mistakes of season 8. The original show was about Rick finding his family in a broken world. Then his family died and he was gone too. It wasn't The Walking Dead anymore, it was just another post-apocalyptic show. More like a soap opera to be honest. A spin off with the same name. Carl never should've died. The show should've ended with him. I remember when he got bit and all the theories were coming out. "Rick is immune, that's why he survived his coma, the zombie virus brought him back to life but didn't turn him. Which means Carl is immune too". Surely they wouldn't kill off Carl right? Then they're getting rid of Rick too? Oh but don't worry guys, he's not actually dead, he will be in 3 movies, wait no actually a show, that will come out six years later. Enjoy your slop in the meantime. Finally the show comes out, and even though it was pretty bad and felt rushed, Rick's presence alone made it enjoyable. Until Carl is mentioned and all you can do is remember the colossal fumble of the original show.
Not even just that the show got pretty bad and started losing a lot of views around season five manly because they kept deviating way too much from the comic book storyline. It’s where it wasn’t even adaptation
I legit didn't even know this show and the Daryl show had come out. This video just popped up in my feed, and I was like... wait what... As a former massive fan of TWD, that was kind of disappointing.
Killing Carl already destroyed the entire point of the Walking Dead story, there's a reason the comics end on Carl and explore the implications of his survival as the thematic continuation of the human race. Carl surviving is the point, killing him is the same as humanity ending. You can abandon bad seasons and make something good from the ashes, but if the core of something is broken there's nothing that can be done.

@Ashbrash1998 it can definitely change up depending on circumstances but it's a steady basis to start with. I think the issue is they never update it pass that
50:26 The fact that I stopped watching TWD in season SEVEN and I could have guessed the CRM's apparently "super secret" motivation/mission (because it is literally the most obvious possible answer to that mystery, to the point that it sounds like parody) is actually so sad. Legitimate professionals were paid actual money to write that. And it made it into the final cut. And they treated it like a big reveal. It's hard for me to even wrap my head around something so fundamentally stupid.
It was to rub it in the face of any viewers who were thinking the CRM were some "Hard men making hard choices" group. It was them saying "No, these are evil bastards and you're dumb for ever thinking they weren't evil"

How is there not enough resources when you have ample land, 3000 people and a standing army?!
The resource thing was just a BS excuse. The CRM just wanted to dominate everything.
And it was better to create 100k zombies and eliminate a majority of the US population than feed those people? Beale must be restarted.
The Walking Dead can never improve. It has the Gilligan’s Island problem where they can never solve the problem without ending the franchise. Even the comic realized this so it just abruptly ended with Rick dying followed by a time jump where they have managed to deal with Zombies while looking at a statue of Rick in his honor.
The Walking Dead Island.
Yeah, I said the same thing. The only thing that will get people interested now is having a cure and a the end. The "fan favorite" characters all have plot armor and the writers just love them to an unhealthy degree, or they are pandering to the remaining fans who like the pandering.
Ok let’s focus on the real elephant in the room. The axe had walker blood and guts on it… he burned his stump closed with flaming zombie guts… 😂
Seems perfectly realistic to me
I feel like the standards for tv shows are so low nowadays that pretty much any show that’s not absolute garbage is regarded as good tv.
It's still light years ahead of tv a couple decades ago. Try and find consistently good tv shows from 2000 to 2009 besides futurama. There's way more quality out there, there's just also a lot more attention on what's being made in general.

Wait a second! So Rick decides to blow up the CRM, only after he learns that they’re destroying and looting other communities, right? (I haven’t watched this show) That would make sense, as in, he tries to protect Alexandria from that fate.
My biggest issues would be:
1) why Michonne would risk leaving her children, to look for Rick, where for 99% he would be dead? Either in aftermath of the bridge scene, or after so many years, everything could happen to him, how the hell would she find him? Just go through grief and take care of your kids, who are present.
2) In the end, CRM’s resources are redistributed. What about those 200 000 people that lived there? Do they agree to that, do they starve? How Rick managed to organise those helicopters? One could spend entire episode on that, and instead it’s cramped into finales aftermath.
Steel cable is very hard to cut through, especially against soft ground, and with the number of times rick had tried to escape, i think it was implied that he had probably tried by cutting the cable in the past and it just didn't work
Granted a simple 5 second shot of him trying to cut the cable first would have helped, but i don't think its really a problem
So basically, 'A' stands for alpha
And 'B' stands for beta.
So basically the CRM is run by sigma male podcasters.

They didn't all abandon Alexandria. Most of them only moved to the Commonwealth until renovations were complete.
People like Aaron and Gabriel moved back to Alexandria after the timeskip in the finale
They prolly learned that everyone left Alexandria and now lives at the Commonwealth
scott gimple's dialogue sounds ripped straight from kingdom hearts omg

This video PERFECTLY summed up all my problems with the walking dead over the years
Honestly I just find it kind of dumb that they're still looking for Rick.

I just can't believe they didn't take this chance to reunite all the characters from this unverse, have a final battle with this "Thanos level Enemy" (as you put it) and then we'd get some sort of satisfying ending to the TWD unvierse. Oh well, can't milk a dead cow I gues...

Yeah, 6-7 years of hyping the CRM as this big, menacing, shadowy force only for them to be the victims of a deus ex machina courtesy of Gimple.
I wouldn’t call it a solid show.. there were too many flaws and weak episodes to call it that - it was just okay.
"Solid show" 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Then the disappointment is on them cause noone told them that was happening LOL It was told to yall that it was a Rick and Michonne show. Love story style. Not TWD season 12. Not Avengers Endgame the Remix. Not Rick and friends. Rick and Michonne. It was about them Finding each other, exploring who they become and then them finding their way back home. They told yall this.
Yall had a whole other spin off that was CRM focused for two seasons and didn’t even watch it. Why tf are yall expecting that over here on TOWL.

@@np0624 Yea it was pandering as hell and almost an apology to the people who stopped watching it...ugghh
It was good but episodes 5-6 are kinda meh tbh
The random spanish phrases 😂😂 I felt the frustration through my screen
as always, the intro music is an absolute banger 🎶
i think it was good. you gotta let go of season 5 savage rick. hes a broken man, and while with michonne, he finds his courage, he's never gonna go back to that older version, and it tracks.
It’s where it wasn’t even adaptation
man all I cared about was rick and michonne being well written and they delivered so idrc how the rest of the show turned out
I completely forgot that show even existed.
🧢
I legit didn't even know this show and the Daryl show had come out. This video just popped up in my feed, and I was like... wait what... As a former massive fan of TWD, that was kind of disappointing.
That’s insane lmfao the marketing for these shows were everywhere
Killing Carl already destroyed the entire point of the Walking Dead story, there's a reason the comics end on Carl and explore the implications of his survival as the thematic continuation of the human race. Carl surviving is the point, killing him is the same as humanity ending. You can abandon bad seasons and make something good from the ashes, but if the core of something is broken there's nothing that can be done.
im so glad i found this video i was told i was wrong about the show missing something and feeling bland and boring, im so glad im not the only one
Another group that didn't survive contact with Rick ^^;
I'm a big TWD fan and loved the show. Only wish it was longer.
So your one of the copers then? TWD has been a dead franchise for a long time.
@@JustTooDamnHonest edgelord alert, tries to hate on an opinion
11 seasons is pretty damn long 🥴
@@fernandodolz9247 Buddy I do not know if you know this, but not agreeing with another person's opinion is normal.
@@JustTooDamnHonest let me be that guy and walk you through it:
It was just a comment of him liking the show, and then you mr know it all toldl him that he is coping. YUP in my book that is being an obnoxious piece of trash and a-hole. but do you i guess
The A/B thing being alphas and betas is incredibly stupid. Debunked wolf study aside, there were so many interesting directions it could have gone. But then again, after 11 seasons, I'm not watching this. I did my time.
It really is, like it assumes people will never change or respond to certain situations. It almost reminds me of the YA books having people grouped into certain cliques or groups based on personality traits or something.
Crazy to think that the Walking Dead tv show operates more like a never-ending comic book title than the actual Walking Dead comic book
