She's so honest. Takes responsibility for her drug taking. Good on her. Makes a difference from all the famous people blaming everyone else for it. Glad that she came out on a note, bless her. I love her. Loved her in the runaways. Love her now.

@Coy Leigh I used to like Cherry Bomb, but you're right, it is ridiculous. 15 year old child dressed like an adult film "star" singing about flaunting parental authority and how she'll make you sore. I smell a Fowl rat.

It would not have been the same though teenage girls sex and drugs it's a rock n roll image. People have to learn to do it straight later for their health but it's ingrained by then it's easy to do.

Anyone who is a fan of Cherie or the Runaways should read Neon Angel. There's a part in the book where Cherie is literally dying on her feet from cocaine. It's mentioned in this video but she quite literally was dying. She did "narrowly escape" death. By mere weeks. Very good but also very intense book. I'm glad she managed to get away from that. Strong woman.

    • @waynej2608

Yes, I read it, and it is scary. Poor Cherie really had some heavy shit to deal with. Being raped by a lunatic, for starters. Glad she got into recovery. A great woman, with beauty and spirit and rock and roll grit.

I was a pre-teen at the time, and remember all the older people doing drugs. I grew up watching people snort cocaine and separate seeds from the pot so they could roll a joint... so ya, I remember the drugs! Not that any of that has really changed now, but people are heavier due to the processing of food, I suppose. I just remember wanting to be apart of a Cherrie Currie and Joan Jett sandwhich...right in the middle!

it’s crazy. the Runaways weren’t together that long. already began dissolving just in over 2 yrs. so it really says something bout the industry that she went from zero to 100 so quickly. in just 2yrs a quaalude and coke addict, pregnant by a manager, i mean wow.
it’s also odd-she looks younger here than she did performing cherry bomb live on stage back in the day.

@agenthelios1 Whenever a family unit has the level of dysfunction that Cherie's family had it is very easy to succumb to the feeling canceling effects that drugs and alcohol provide. Addiction can be more profound.
I am referring to people that are more prone to being sensitive. People that genuinely love their family and cannot bear to see such unhappiness and suffering of those that they care about.
I hate it when people that are not sensitive judge others for being so.

Ever watched K-Pop? Or most mainstream pop? Beautiful production value/frequently-but-not-always vapid subject-matter/scantily clad teens choreographed to a tee. Many of today's performers, from very young onward, still exploit their physical assets to augment their stage shows. Not judging either way just saying, the beat goes on, and sex sells. That said, I'd like to think they're wiser than my gen was concerning unsafe sex, chemical assistance and money management, at least I hope so.

She's very intelligent and sharp in these clips; glad to see the drugs didn't do any serious damage.
Though I wasn't aware the Runaways performed in San Diego just a few weeks after she joined the group. That story sounds made up from the beginning, and it has only grown every time she tells it.

She seems like a cool mom to have. wow how she still has a perfect nose even though she did all that cocaine for so many years, i'm so surprised it didnt eat her up. Even all the smoking didn't do any harm to her, shes still healthy and looks great for her age. Sandy didn't come out on all the videos smoking like Cherie did, and she still died of cancer.

@iCatey If you read Cherie Currie's book, she explains how after the Runaways she really didn't talk to any of the girls for quite some time and downspiraled into a very, very hard addiction to cocaine and crack cocaine. She was also raped multiple times and tortured during one of those occurrences.

@wheelinthesky300 I don't know if she got breast implants, but what you have to remember is in the early photos of her - in in the corset and fishnets she was only 15-16 years old and just starting to actually develop breast, but as I say, she could have had implants, I don't know.

Indeed, Ms Liz. Problem is, if I had the chance to do it all over again, and was sent back to that same time, I'd probably just end up repeating history. Who can say, tho? As Mr. Paley, formerly of The Five, sang on "Lazarus in Brooklyn," "If I had another chance, I'd do it just the same, just wouldn't do it with you." The unrepentant punk in me always liked that line.

Mickey IF she’s actually talking bout Jackie in this clip. Maybe that creep did that to more than one girl. ....and he more than likely did. This guy just barely missed the meetoo movement.
