      @@louisecassidy5991 It seemed a little slippery as well, in all fairness to the equine recovery team. He's normally not in front of them like that either, they didn't want to run him over, I could see them both hesitating. Astounding animals.

      @@louisecassidy5991that’s because of how slippery is is. At my old job where the floor was wet all the time moving a heavy pallet of drums required short choppy steps you couldn’t really get a good pull or you’d slip. Same with these horses they almost slipped

    Even on ice those draft horses pulled that van out. Not sure why his was gunning it so much though! Well done job!

      That was dangerous on his part. The horses and/or the farmer could have been hurt if the wheels had caught traction. The proper way is to put it in gear, stay off the gas and be ready to brake.

    The Amish...best neighbors anybody could ever have and the BEST farmers on the planet, all accomplished with horses. Incredible.

      You reckon? Just go take a look at the Amish horses that end up at the auction marts for slaughter after their working days are done. All in terrible condition, thin as rakes and sore as hell in the back end... NOT good animal practice.

      I wouldnt say they are the best farmers. Farmers that use machines get the jop faster but i get your point. They work hard with no machines so they have my respect

    look at the horses rear hooves when they are pulling; they are literally digging their rounded toes into the ground to pull hard enough for their owner.

      Draft horses are amazing. They managed pull the car on slippery road. Imagine if the road isnt slippery. It might take them one pull

      Credit their owner - he knew it would be a hard pull due to the icy road. So he got in front of them. Talked to them, and they pulled for him. I was worried - if he slipped and fell, that was not the place to be. But I don't think he was at all worried. Beautiful team.

      He spoke to the horses. No yelling or hitting.
      The horses have been bred for generations to pull. It's natural for them and they cooperated without fuss.

    Nice of him to help, but I really don't like what he did to the horses. He was pulling hard on their reins which are attached to the mouth. He was pulling hard on the metal that's in their mouths. Not cool at all. Very painful.

      This is how this works the horses love what they do so no harm was done

      pulling forward on the bit like that actually is less painful then pulling back on the bit. that is a simple loose ring snaffle anyway which is one of the softest bits. he didnt pull incredibly hard either, and he had to do it to help keep the horses steady. the horses knew this and were not in pain, it only lasted for a few seconds as well which isn't insanely deteriorating. i highly doubt he does this everyday. you can even see he started out behind them to the side like how a normal person would driving horses (which is essentially painless as the rein is not directly contacted to the bit anyways), but then quickly realized that wouldn't work without tiring the horses out too fast.
