She is absolutely wrong and I strongly disagree with her as consumerism is everywhere and I know people in US are also living paycheck to paycheck! The best thing in Dubai is tax free salary and only you need to be disciplined in your financials and the same is true with the kids!

You have to be disciplined with your financials irrespective where you live.

She is so wrong. I have been living in USA for forty years and it is up to a person how you want to live your life. She is willing to live in a country where you are introducing your children to the social problems that your kids are not accustomed to in Dubai or India or Pakistan like sex before marriage, LGBTQ and openly buying drugs like cannabis from the shops. She is only worried about the money and the lifestyle. The host is so right about that it is parents who raise their children not the other way around.

Just a suggestion for anyone who has never been to North America/ME and planning to move. Get the general info which she has shared but don't make up your mind based on someone else's experience. Thats just her personal PoV in a very specific situation and frame of mind as everyone has their own unique experience n situation. You know your own situation and goals so its better to do your own research before moving and then work according to your own goals.
Trends or opinions are bound to change from time to time but your own ideology, life experiences, rules and belief will tell you the truth. So just follow that.

Some of their points are logical but situations vary from person to person.Living in Dubai or in North America or Europe if a person's mindset is purely materialistic then there are no limits for extravagance.A person who feels content by copying the western life style would set aside all the other social or moral values linked with their religious and ethnic back grounds. It is always to be kept in mind that we are different from the West in many aspects. Many of our social and moral values are far better than the West.Believing in spirituality and understanding it is very helpful in setting your direction in a completely different society.

North America has a competitive job market
One have to complete best of best
      Example
Each year 150 000 people come to Toronto and compare their age ,education and level of experience one has to complete
These places r not for lazy people

I have worked in UAE 6 months back in 2014, and I visit Dubai like twice a year for the last few years. Entirely different reason for leaving UAE. Now, I am more inclined towards moving to UAE as soon as I can from Europe after living here for 16 years. I think anything is better to protect your children from woke liberal LGBTQ rubbish. Also, the taxes in the western world are painful. I would strongly argue Batool, for the reasons she has stated are quite subjective. My daughter is missing the experience of family and relatives, which we grew up with. There are a million more reasons I can suggest to move to M.E. Times are changing fast, things are only going to get worse in the West.

    Pros of UAE
    1) law and order
    2) quality of life and income
    3) 300+ days of sunshine
    4) overall easy life as compared to other countries (domestic helpers , shopping, travelling)
    5) Business and property
    Cons:
    1) racism (white vs Arabic vs rest)
    2) Artificial city no soul , no culture
    3) work with second tier of people in terms of best brains.
    4) weather in general - less outdoor activities and more air conditioning lifestyle
    5) no freedom of speech, if you are a person with opinions

No country is perfect. I respect everyone’s opinion but I believe that Dubai is the best most secure country in the world with a lot of business and growth opportunities and employment opportunities. That aside as far the grooming of children is concerned it depends upon the parents. Although environment do has an effect however in the end it’s the responsibility of parents to teach there children. I believe crime rates and mental health issues like LGBT and gender issues in Canada are far more dangerous for our children to deal with. America however is also great for growth if you understand their system.

You are absolutely right. I have seen the initial summary, but can someone please tell her can you compromise on below:
      - Source of all vulgarity is west
      - You can implement any of religious objectives of Islam in our personal life there in the presence of openly commited evil with no check and balance
      - In Australia, every woman is killed due to domestic violence every 4 days. Do you see that in Dubai or UAE?
      - The biggest issue here in west is the introduction of LGxxQ+ and exposure to a 5 year old in Kindergarten telling its okay and its normal.
      - No personal tax on income whilst in west, one pays huge taxes and those taxes are then used in place a muslim does not want it to be spent.
      - Makkaah and Madinah is just 2 hours 20 mins away where you can even visit on a long weekend and get your sins wash off every month.

    Assalam Alaikum wr wb
    Very interesting and healthy discussion.
Just wanted to add few points
I have been living in UAE for the last 16 plus years and raised my children here.
To a great extent what she is referring to wrt to luxurious life style and its negative impact on family is true.
However, its not impossible to lead a life in UAE without much indulgence in the extravagance.
As she said that in the west one can avoid many ethical challenges being faced by moving in like minded people, same applies in UAE as well.
One can move in circles where people are not engaged in the material rat race , we have found so many such families.
    Regards

Living on a single income is not really “impossible” in NAmerica. Unless your car payments are 1500 dollars a month and you pay 50% of your take home pay on your rent or mortgage. If you have your finances under control it’s totally possible to live on a single income and still save some.

Also for children higher education option as well ... what I noticed as a comparison is There is more spending power in Dubai , my grown up kids are literally inclined to move to Dubai once done with their education .. obvio because kf family, luxeries and Halal food choices hehe and easy chilll life as comapred to Canada .. where we all are working including my 15 and 17 yrs old .. who dont like luxeries if they are getting it and so close to Pak .. BUT just understsnd it might not be forever so whoever can should opt for atleast the Other nationality ...( Unfortunately going to Pak is a not a sane option anymore )my 4 yrs old is saying evwry day Dubai is Bettee than Canada ! Being born in Pakistan, moving to Canada at the age of 14 in late 80’s … then living in Canada, educating, getting married, having kids, working until 2014 and then moving with the family to Dubai… I can say I’m somewhat of an expert in family life (traditional family) in Canada, Pakistan and Dubai. I think the lady maybe fine in her own personal experience of living in Dubai … but she really doesn’t paint the correct picture of the experience of people like me. Tons of people ask me for advice on moving to Dubai and I always tell them that if they can find a job in a certain salary range then definitely move to Dubai. Especially if they would like to live in a traditional, safe, advanced and welcoming environment. My entire extended family is in Canada, US or UK… and visit every year. Whenever I visit I feel like im in an unsafe, unfriendly and broken place compared to Dubai. Living in Dubai I have the ability to not only positively impact my immediate family but also my extended family, friends and other needy people. I can not do the same working in Canada. My entire circle of friends that are expat Canadians with kids are of the same view as me. So, it’s all a matter of perspective.
Having said this… if you are living in Dubai and belong to the middle or lower economic class in your home country and get a chance to move to Canada or the West, JUMP ON THE OPPORTUNITY! this may seem like contradictory to my reaction on the lady’s views but it’s not … it’s a matter of perspective from two different realities.

Business in any region can be a tricky thing as it’s a risk at the end of the day. Success and failure of any business depends upon through market research and analysis. Most startup businesses fail and no one talks about them as no one wants to discuss their failures but only project their successes. While truck drivers might be earning this amount as might be told to you by someone however I don’t believe it to be 100% correct. Please don’t believe every hearsay that you are told by people. Trust me you don’t want to be a driver and believe me you will sure not make much money through it. I have spoken to drivers there and many of them are in losses. Moreover they also complain about medical health issues that they face associated with prolonged driving like back pains and obesity etc.
Drivers in Dubai used make a lot of money earlier before 2022 however now the market is over saturated and therefore can not make the same earnings. Most of them are barely able to pay for their own living expenses. Drivers however working for some companies or government are doing fine. Now obviously if you are living in a Marina or Downtown then the earnings will not b sufficient for u to survive there.

I lived in the US for past 30 years.
I have tried this move a few years back thinking we should live in a “Muslim” country. I lived in Mirdiff. In one year I left to go back to US. My gripes. Racism, no rights, no freedom of speech, discrimination on government level, standard of living general. To best honest, I rather move to Pakistan than Dubai.

Wrong perspective about Dubai. From a south asian background, being born and raised in Dubai and now living in North America, i do not agree on your comments about the lifestyle in dubai. You chose to live the luxury life by not considering if you really need all of it. You can live the same way in dubai how you live currently in North America.
    Dubai is perfect.

If you have a business in dubai, there is nothing like dubai anywhere. The life, services and access to the whole world is unmatched. If you are on job, stay for sometime, save money and move ahead. I am born and brought up in dubai and living and working in dubai since last 40 years. I also have a business in mississauga. I would always opt for dubai anyday and there is no comparison to this city from any other place. The main idea is to make lot of money in dubai as you will need lot of money to retire here and that can only be done if you are a smart worker and know how to tap the market. Job oriented people i wouldnt suggest them to spend lot of time in dubai. If someone wants to work for other people, then ofcourse income will be limited. In this case ill suggest move to west.

During security check they made me take out my gold bangles and jacket last minute and since it was around 2am and traveling with kids with so many buckets being scanned i forgot to take my bangles and jacket and I remembered after two weeks . I emailed Emirates airline and my relatives went in person to file complaint they couldn’t track it.

I respectfully disagree almost entirely. Ms. Batool may not have lived in Canada long enough to understand the long-term aspects of wealth generation with tax, challenges of climbing the corporate ladder, buying a home, and being stuck in a mortgage forever. Her main reason for moving here are for permanent residency, which I support, but she didn't mention that. People who are citizens of North America should consider going to the UAE to earn significant money for a few years. Conversely, individuals in the UAE and Pakistan should consider immigrating to Canada or the US for future residency. It's as simple as that. My question to her is, once she becomes a citizen of Canada, if she is offered the same salary (usually salaries are two folds for american citizens) tax-free in the UAE, will she go back or stay here and pay 40% taxes while living in a $1 million CAD garbage house in toronto? I would appreciate an honest response. Regarding family raising concerns, there are various options. You could buy a small villa outside of the city and have a proper setup. I can say that children in the Middle East often receive better education and are more intelligent than those in Canada. Kids can do schooling there and move to america for higher education. Ms. Batool may not have experienced high school yet or the issues with kids here like availability of marijuana. .

    Hi Wali,
I have recently started following your channel. Thanks for sharing the content.
Everyone has different experiences and one should understand and respect it. But, since the interview is in public space so I wanted to give my 2 cents so that people also get other perspective.
I have lived in UK and currently living in Abu Dhabi. I tend to disagree with the lady. I will pick some points from her one interventions:
She mentioned that they were saving more in NA than Dubai while her husband was CFO of P&G in Dubai. That says it all. If you don’t have saving mindset here and you’re in competition to give yourself and kid a high end lifestyle then there’s no limit. Since UAE doesn’t give you citizenship, those who spend most of what they earn are missing the whole point of moving to UAE.
If they moved to NA without job, they most likely developed a saving attitude that is helping them till now and they are saving more, with all the taxes.
She mentioned about safety in Dubai. That’s the most basic thing one needs for themselves and the kids.
One thing she needs to realize that US experience is NOT an international experience. It’s the demand of the local market and relevant experience that is preferred everywhere.
What she didn’t tell was that NA was a never ending cycle of effort and hard work, with passport as a return. Everyone has right to prefer passport over money but saying that you save less in UAE than NA is a lie.
She probably is in a phase of denial to justify their move to NA. The typical with many who move to Canada.
Since they themselves have moved to US after Canada shows that Canada didn’t serve much purpose than a different colored passport.
Overall, this comparison of moving to GCC and NA/Europe makes little sense. GCC is about making money, and save for future moves. Latter is mostly for passport and different citizenship for you and your kids, that doesn’t help you save much.
I wanted to share my thoughts for viewers to not get carried away with one side of the story.
    Thanks.

Totally agree that despite the wokeism, North America remains the best place to raise a family. Lots of reason even beyond the bling that defines Dubai. Our Kids in North America start jobs after high school - How do Middle East kids living in a lap of luxury , clueless about how the real world works compete with them ? Where do u find the most advanced Medical technology or the best education in the world - again North America and definitely not the middleeast. Another aspect that has a lot of value for me and maybe not for most Pakistanis are my rights and freedom - constitutionally guaranteed in North America - while in Dubai … less said the better. 😢

If the offer from Dubai was considerably good then one should shift because moving is big deal especially to a work culture which is a bit strict considering west and Australia is more relaxed. Secondly the move should be paying off in terms of one leaving permanent jobs to jobs which have a one month notice period even being permanent. Lastly salaries in uae are no longer at the same level what they were before. After covid they have squeezed packages and considering the tax free portion is usually the incentive to move alongside the school fees they offer. Move to UAE if both husband and wife packages are good. I consider 35K aed plus school fees a good package to move for. Again it isn’t permanent there and tomorrow say they get affected by virus or iran war etc they will just ask you to leave. So decide based on circumstances

I have never lived in Dubai but was about to move from Canada few months ago. Nothing wrong with Canada but we were concerned about the schooling. Then I cancelled my plan due to 3 reasons:
1- I asked my children and my 2nd child who is very straightforward told me that she does not want to move due to few reasons.
2- the work environment is hectic and at my age (42), I do not want to start again and adapt to that lifestyle.
3- (most important) I do not want to run away from the challenges related to school or security. Instead I want to face them specially since my kids were born here, they may not express their liking about the move but it impacts them. I value their feelings and I can sacrifice any luxury in a heartbeat to keep my family happy.
Money is important but after a certain point in life, it becomes less relevant.
I have been hearing Wali bhai and also heard sister Batool in the past. These are very valid points. Also for US, the grass is greener and they pay you well, and there are more opportunities but that is at the surface what attracts people to US. If you dig down, there are things that are missing such as extra holidays, long weekends, heavy dependence on employer’s health care plan etc. Health care may not be great in Canada but I can see a doctor without worrying about the healthcare billing and insurance expenses. Yes my employer tops up but we need to consider those who do not have a job and need medical attention. I had the opportunity to move to the US but I did not as my family and my in-laws are in Canada and living around family is a blessing. Lastly I am uncomfortable/ afraid of guns and do not like the gun culture in US.

Most people move from Canada to UAE
      1. because of making money.
      2. because of sever cultural problems.
What about the fact that people can save and make same money in 5 years what you they will save and make in canada in 15-20 years?
