I guess the hatred they shared behind the scenes worked to it's advantage, you really feel the tension between them throughout Henry and Anne's relationship was toxic from the start and it shows.
Very interesting and from such a young woman. How wonderful your research and your scoff at the end on reflecting on L&B’s ridiculous exhibitions lol 😅
This video makes me so happy that John Wayne beat Richard Burton. Elizabeth Taylor was wrong for this part. Anne Boleyn had dark eyes and she was a nobility. Genevieve had the French mannerisms. Good choice.
I love this movie and their performances. I think they both do a great job. I've seen behind the scenes photos and it looks like they got along well filming. What Richard Burton wrote in his "private" diary, I don't know if that's how he really felt, given the context of his wife's control and jealousy. How did they really get along filming? I think only they know.
When i watched the film, they had absolutely no chemistry to me, but then again, during those days of filming, kissing wasn't as passionate as it is now. I've always liked her version of Anne Boleyn.
Burton's notebooks can be misleading, as he knew Elizabeth read it as well and he often lied about what his true feelings were; Ms Bujold was in love with her husband then, much younger and better looking than Burton. But she did play on Elizabeth Taylor's fears and made her sweat over "what if?" It was pay-back for all her bad behavior towards the younger, prettier actress. To this day Ms Bujold will not dignify this question with a response.
Burton seems to think shouting equals great acting... that fits with how obnoxiously loud he is, though I suppose Henry would have been a big frogmouth. And he was right, he was lousy in the role. He didn't look like Henry, and he wasn't convincing as him, either. Bujold acted circles around him.
Genevieve Bujold is my favorite Anne Boleyn. Burton was totally out of line! Liz Taylor would not have done that part justice. She was too old and not physically proportioned for the part. Little things like Anne's youth, her small neck, her French-speaking background, and her small bust do not scream Elizabeth Taylor. It was not her fault that Elizabeth Taylor had to keep Burton on a tight leash.
Genevieve Bujold was the best Anne Boleyn, Richard Burton too l think captured Henry’s arrogance of always being right and getting what he wants . Great movie 👍
In his diaries, Richard gave nicknames to many, both male and female, not just women. G. Bujold was never a star, so the Burtons are the only ones still even remembered.
the fact genevieve bujold is still alive today and richard and elizabeth is pure dust in a box is honestly the biggest slay

Your face when you finished reading his journal entry 🤣🤣 What an informative video, thank you ❤
Burton and Taylor had the most massive egos. 🙄🙄🙄 When I watched Anne of a Thousand Days I couldn’t get past his over the top acting. 😂

Agreed! It was Burton's fault, IMO. He was not romantic to Ms. Simmons in "The Robe".

it seems like they were trying to drag genevieve into their marriage problems and blame her for all of it. i wouldn’t have been nice either!
Yes indeed Genevieve’s first husband was very handsome! Unfortunately her longtime partner of 40 years died several years back of Alzheimer’s.

Love your videos. Good speaking voice and history. Keep up the good work 👍 !
thank you so much!! ❤️❤️
Genevive doesnt even want to talk about Anne Of The Thousand Days even after most of the main cast are now dead.

slow down girl, you speak so fast it's impossible to understand what you're saying
i’ve tried but it’s just the way i talk lol. just slow the playback speed down.
I Never Knew That Faye Dunaway Was Nearly Chosen to play Anne I wonder how she would have done the role
I glad that Bujold had the part!
