Have had many Rottweilers, have learned that their brains are wired different than most dogs. My first experience training a puppy taught me a lot about what NOT to do. They are different, so must be trained different. This video does an excellent job, and the technique works 100% of the time. It takes practice, and you must make the training positive and fun for the pup.
Great training tips. Also really important to remember that the dog knows how to sit, come, lie down etc. What we teach is communication and cooperation. If the dog isn't getting it, the human isn't communicating well. It is up to the human to figure out how to fix that. Be prepared to train all the time and to spend lots of time with a puppy. Any behavior that is "bad" behavior is an opportunity to train! Be patient with yourself and your dog. Get help from a pro if you get stuck!

Thank you so much Sidney!! This really helped me alot. I've trying to find good videos that actually help me with the name and leash situation!! This really helped me
Loved it mate. I'm 34 and am soon to buy my first big dog ( Rottweiler ) as ive been a renter until now. I'll be watching all you videos mate. Thank you.
I have a 14 week lab retriever and when I walk him, he wont respond to treats, in fact he wont eat at all when he is outside, which is exactly how my former dog behaved. It is hard to reward him for his good behaviour.

am going to buy a rottweiler but i need tips on what should i look for in a rottweiler so that i could know that am getting a good quality dog if you have some tips you could give me it would be really cool
Great video. I bought a puppy rottweiler last week, she`s 50 days old, she keeps biting me really hard, I tried yelping like another dog, tried holding her down and tapping under the jaw, but she reacts and bites again. Can you please help me?
make sure you see both parents and that they have excellent temperaments so important...the better the temperament, the more trainable your dog will be. apart from this, on `quality`, google the breed standard profile of the rottweiler . Correct feeding is all important with large breeds as puppies, too as rottweilers are prone to a lot of diseases and degenerative joint issues as adults. good luck , rottweilers are amazing companions
I wish i could understand what he says, i mean i'm from south america and that accent is really difficult for me to understand. What a beautiful puppy btw.
Really nice training video 👍 nice and easy going, 💛 like people should be. I don't like Sergeant major's 👮👎 they're not soldiers on the drill square. Beautiful, adorable little pup.💕💕Rottweilers are the Cutest. 🐻
My Layla is 8 wks old and when I use harness she rolls on the ground and thrashes like a wild dog. Its frustrating due to the leash will save her life where I live.
I have a farm and run six miles a day with my dogs... after she decides I`m not ''the rabbit'' it`s all brilliant, but yeah, running seems to be the trick... make her pass out of exhausting so we can finally ''cuddle'' 'evil grin'
Yep, tried that, I think that she thinks it`s peek a boo, and barks then eats a part of my arm (btw I`m being dramatic) I`m doing a Jed I mind trick, saying sit or stop, and when/if she stops I give a biscuit... seems to be working... sort of. But thanks!
First, you have to know about your canine's behavior plus treat your canine as the way he or she thinks if you want to transform your dog into your best mate.
I can't find a training treat my dogs like. ... except real cheese which of course isn't good for pups in any quantity and costs a blood fortune in Thailand anyway. But every store-bought treat I can find has failed miserably.
great viedo, but I was wondering cuz I have a 4 moth year old cooker spaniel and I was trying to train him to walk on a leash but he wont even walk he just lays there what can I do?
I am trainning a 4 month old Frenchie and when she just sits there I get her to come by temtping her with food and it always works. Hopefully with that she understands that when she comes to wear I am with her leash, it is a positive thing.
Find a treat that your dog likes then inch the dog forward. -the Rot in the video is a bit more energetic and free willed than yours. So you have to take slower and smaller steps.

Nice video
am going to buy a rottweiler but i need tips on what should i look for in a rottweiler so that i could know that am getting a good quality dog if you have some tips you could give me it would be really cool

Great video. I bought a puppy rottweiler last week, she`s 50 days old, she keeps biting me really hard, I tried yelping like another dog, tried holding her down and tapping under the jaw, but she reacts and bites again. Can you please help me?

Your welcome
Can I ask how old was Maverick when te video was shot?
at what age should i leash train my puppy?
I let the puppy settle in first and allow him to get use to a collar. So around 10 weeks of age I'll introduce the leash.
Excellent training methods discussed here which I may adopt for my own dog training site
Is a rottweiler a good 1st dog to have?
Absolutely!
what the dog likes the most
hi Sidney, what are the most common dog treats?
Yes I am interested what kind of dog treats you give sir....thanks
make sure you see both parents and that they have excellent temperaments

So what do I do if my puppy Hates the leash?
I wish i could understand what he says, i mean i'm from south america and that accent is really difficult for me to understand. What a beautiful puppy btw.
My puppy doesn’t want to go for a walk anymore just lays down and refuses to go anywhere-what can I do??
Really nice training video 👍 nice and easy going, 💛 like people should be. I don't like Sergeant major's 👮👎 they're not soldiers on the drill square. Beautiful, adorable little pup.💕💕Rottweilers are the Cutest. 🐻
What's the best treat
Couldn't quite hear at the beginning of the video. What kind of mix is that Rotty?
bigpoppafreeman That’s not a mix, he stated early in the video that he’s got a male Rottweiler puppy.
Um, just a rotti
Yes he's a pure bred Rottweiler
So cute
from 2010 lol that dog must be fat right now by giving him all the cookies :D
my puppy know how to come to me just does not like the leash
I no longer have Maverick and no I don't have any more vids or pic's....sorry
I have german chepard very activ icant train him
So you know there's a difference between American and german rotweilers? Many people don't understand this.
Does it pertain to this video?
Stay focused maybe you should be trained. That has nothing to do with this video.
Thanks
Thanks for the reply.

Can i just give food than treats?
Whatever your dog likes. I've used mince meat and all sorts of food over the years to help teach dogs.
thx for the video really helped : )
Omg I LOVE rotties!

i really want a rottweiler named king
I have a rotti/lab named king. 12 weeks old

It’s weird to see a rott with a full tail😟
Dog is dead now
CUTE.
turn on captions and LOL

real meat? left overs ?
hard to portion, hard to keep and carry in sufficient quantities, and (table scraps aside) expensive.
I know this sounds weird but maybe they like veggies. I trained my puppy with bits of carrot. He loved it. Some of them like lettuce even.
+Tiara Artis Same with my dog.
Of coarse!
great viedo, but I was wondering cuz I have a 4 moth year old cooker spaniel and I was trying to train him to walk on a leash but he wont even walk he just lays there what can I do?
