"I've worked hard to try to forget everything about our childhood..." Cox' emotional moments were so well acted and had the fitting music every time. Well to be honest, that was Scrubs in general.
I was not a fan of the actor that played Dr. Cox but after watching Scrubs and crying during all of his emotional scenes I absolutely love him. Especially this scene. I too have tried to forget about my childhood.
In general scrubs had this amazing feature of being goofy most of the time till they pull a spin into emotional situations that were just amazing, alot of them were with Dr.cox just like Ben's story
This is one of those shows where you forget everyone is an actor and that its a show. It's just so real and amazing. At least there is 8 Seasons of it. Yes 8 and only 8.....
The funniest thing about this whole thing is me and my sister have a similar relationship with the difference I was the one who went religious and she was the one who went the other way. But we both grew up with a rough childhood. And we both still love each other and try to keep in contact. I pray for her and my dad every day.
i rly dont know, how often i had to cry and smile at the same moment while i was watching scrubs... even if it sounds strange, but after i finished scrubs, i rly was changed in some different ways in my life
@@converse1729 This is one of the most accurate comments I've seen on a youtube video ever. I just finished my 4th watch of this series and it still gets me every time. Scrubs inspired me to go into medicine, I am now starting a Ph.D. program at a medical college, with the desire to specialize in cancer research.
I wouldn't say that it's the purpose of series, but Scrubs is my favorite show ever (even more than Friends) because it's constantly funny like life should be, but when it hurts, it hurts really bad like life really is. This series can easily give you another point of view about the problems you're dealing with your family, your job, your friends, your health, your loss, your children, your life... Reflexion and laughs, that's what Scrubs is about and I'll love it forever.
0:36 This is why I like Dr. Cox. The man is a cynic and atheist due to his terrible childhood and what he witnesses over the years as a doctor. Despite everything telling him to stay away from this big event in Jack's life, the MAN still shows up.
naomi plimmer never said that was how all atheists were. There are PLENTY of ppl that don't believe in God because of the bad circumstances surrounding their lives.
Frostshokula mmm, i just think it shows a certain lack of perspicacity to even suggest that Dr. Cox was an atheist because of his bad childhood. Even if it says so in the script, there's more than one strand to everything.
COX: "Bye, Paige... You know, Paige is a silly name." PAIGE: "Perry's worse". Yes, but his actual first name is Percival! Percival Ulysses Cox! Yeesh, what a handle!
I had a friend who wanted to name her firstborn son 'Go'el', after a fictional character in a videogame. However, she was not allowed to register him under that name (yes, she actually tried), and had to settle for making it his middle name, with the first name being the much more common Lucas. While I should probably try not to judge anyone for their baby name preferences, I can't help but be glad for that kid that he didn't have to get saddled with that stupid ass name his entire life.
"I have worked hard to try to forget everything about our childhood but when I see you I can't think about anything else." is such a good line. Honestly that's a feeling you don't see expressed very often especially not in a television show and double especially not in a comedy tv show.
This show always knows just how to get like 4 big tears out of me. Like I’m not sobbing. But all the personal moments here with this song and the beauty of a baptism and AHHH like four big tears
Someone needs to credit Joseph Arthur- he wrote and sang “In the Sun”. One of his finest songs- he is an incredible artist. This song made this part of the episode- look him up- he is the most underrated singer/songwriters on the planet.
Lmao this is so perfect on so many levels. Everything worked out so perfectly. The subtle moment of Cox showing up to the baptism with a beer was so realistic and perfect for his character. Excellent episode.
what i love most is the fact that paige gave her brother perry, a pass, for coming to church, holding a beer, because, she knew, he had already, seen hell.
Scrubs fucks you up in ways you didn’t know were possible. Every single emotion you could ever experience in real life is looked at under the microscope in this show. It’s more than a TV show. It’s something else, something no one will ever be able to describe in a way that makes sense. I say to people who don’t know it that it truly is the best and worse of everyone that’s why it’s so compelling. Because at the end of each episode the monologue perfectly sums up something you’ve been struggling to either accept or recognise every day.
after ive watched the last episode of scrubs i had a tear on my cheek and a smile on my face and its made my life diffrent. i love scrubs from the bottom of my heart.
I agree, it honestly affected me so much and the music choice at different scenes was probably what really made it so wonderful. :( keep wishing it was still on.
I understand what dr. Cox is feeling. The only difference between him and myself is that I believe in God. I still have worked hard my whole life. I spent my whole adulthood to let go and forget my childhood. My father was never around and when he did come around him and I physically fought each other putting wholes in walls. My mother was always a negative narcissistic person but she was still around and kept a roof over our head. I just learned that God must have given me these parents to show me what not to become in life. I just can't help but feel for dr. Cox, knowing what I've had to deal with. Watching all my siblings getting mentally screwed up from my father and mother. I was the only one that would physically fight with my mother and father. I felt if I didn't stand up for my siblings. If I wasn't the bad child. If I wasn't the one everyone could be angry with. Then my siblings wouldn't be able to be themselves. I will not and cannot take any crap from my parents. I will never let them hurt my siblings even when my time comes. 🙏🙏🙏💯💯💯.
I first heard this song when I started thinking about apply to med school and now I'm an M4 still replaying this song on and off to remind myself of what scrubs taught me
I would honestly like to know how many people were inspired to become doctors, nurses, and anything else in the medical field because of this show as compared to any other medical show.
In my opinion, Dr. Cox is the character with the most suffering he has experienced in his life, from the terrible childhood he and his sister had, his one resident slept with his wife, His Brother in Law died on his sons (Jack's) birthday or a few days before that, his daughter was born on the day Laverne died, and that his daughter Jennifer has a heart condition, and he blamed himself for the lost of those 3 patients one of which he deemed somewhat a friend that had died (S5:Ep20).
always and always will love scrubs! when i see that a movie has a scrubs actor i see cuz i know it will be good with them. hope for more donald faisons movies :)
Bless you bud, for what it's worth I think Perry only just started to accept his sister in this episode. This episode was more about him actually acknowledging his past and realising that it wasn't Paige's fault as she suffered as well. JD brings up an excellent point in this episode that Cox never judged someone based on their beliefs and found it weird that he detested his sister for it to which Perry acknowledges that he was only using Paige's faith as an excuse to avoid that past. Overcoming a troubled past is a journey bud, not a light-switch.
This made me cry so much... The moment, everyone realized that you have to make the first step and the smile of Jack, how happy he is, how he looks up as he would look in haven 🥺🥺🥺
As you're building good memories with other people, they're going to overshadow the bad childhood stuff eventually. It won't disappear, but it gets easier to manage. One day at a time... You got this! 💜
This video popped up in my recommended and I thought 'a song about the sun and scrubs sounds nice!'. I didn't realize that it's the song my one cousin played at my other cousin's funeral a couple of weeks ago. The moment the song started, I started bawling. I don't know if god exists but if he does, I hope my cousin is with him. He died trying to save a kid from harm so I don't see why he wouldn't be.
fighting off a bear attack with your bare hands is badass. walking into a church with a beer is.. sad and juvenile. it's about as badass as a 12 year old that got drunk on bear and shows everyone how strong he is.
I know Dr. Cox always delivers the best comedic lines, but asking his 40 year old something sister to be in his son's funeral its kind of dark when you think about it Great scene though :D
I kinda got the impression that one of the reasons the baptizing of Cox's son was that the alternative would be that there would be no ''seremonies'' or celebrations in any similar sense. If so I wonder: Is it a rarity to not have equivalent humanistic (atheist) events?
dr. cox channeled his father, when he said, "you know, paige is a silly name" and paige, was stronger than his barb, when she deflected by saying "perry's worse"

When did Cox say anything about his abusive father?
He mentions it in a few eps including this one one it was both parents his father would him and his sister while thier mum watched and drank
