the thing is that the janitor only really hates JD and is normally cool with everyone else, all the hate he displays towards the other doctors is an act he keeps up so the other janitors don't think he is cool with those stuck up docs who think they are better than them.
Janitor messed with most people other than Carla. He actually likes Cox, just outside of work. But even then, the Janitor never actually messed with anyone, even JD, when it mattered. Him helping Turk move the ice machine is a case of that. Turk not being able to be there because he was stuck wasn't a huge deal, but the actual C-Section was. Case in point when JD mentioned having Interns following him around, the Janitor did the big blowup cardboard thing rather than torment JD and make him look like an idiot or incompetent in front of Interns.
Oh I think he absolutely is a nice guy and a pretty smart one. Just, usually nobody cares. Nobody meets him with enough natural respect for his work, position or person to truly find out about that (except for Elliot, and we all know that plotline!). The man probably would help the people around him a lot more if he were ever thanked for anything… with some kind of appreciation! For him it's a principle! Be honest with yourselves, people! When was the last time you asked a janitor how his day was going? I never did that either until my retired grandfather got asked to teach history at my school again. The first time granny picked him up in front of the entrance our janitor was collecting leaves in the school yard. He went over for a little chat and said to grandma "Come darling, this is Mr. Ehlert! He is our janitor." He talked to him every single time they met and if it was a "Has your day been going well so far?" on the floor. Needless to say, when my grandfather died last year, the longest, sophisticated and most personal condolence card among all the sympathies express by relatives, neighbors, students, companions from the theater board, the county council, the carnival club (I'm German) and all my grandpa's other "intellectual" circles came from Mr. Ehlert and his family. The only difference between Mr. Ehlert and the Scrubs Janitor is, the latter openly claims respect for his work and equal treatment of his person by making a himself a vivid part of their daily work life f they get it or not...using the craziest methods, ok. But you guys get my …very long… point.
Yeah, the Janitor may be the big, creepy, scary uncle, but he's still a part of this big hospital family. He cares, but he doesn't show it. Which sums up Kelso in this scene, too. He makes a hardass statement about a lawsuit, but then encourages Turk to hurry up and get his ass in that room with Carla. A lot of these guys have tough guy complexes for their own reasons, but they care when it comes down to the line.
THE Best acting of the series is when Laverne is dying and Carla accepts it and says her goodbye. It is an amazing breakdown by Carla and it gets me every time, she does an incredible job. The Dr Cox realizing Bens death is what a lot of people go to but this scene just always hits me harder. Also Dr Cox losing 3 patients in very quick succession is also top tier acting and heartbreaking. Scrubs just had some outstanding performances.
You need a friend like the Janitor. Someone who is crazy and willing to shove an ice machine that you got stuck in across a hospital so you can be there for your wife's labour.
That second slap from the Janitor made me HAVE to step away from my laptop and muffle my lips to prevent waking up my roommate with laughter. Glory be to Scrubs.

Cailus Griffin The cord was around my neck too and I was almost a c section but by time everything was ready, it was too late. I was birthed naturally. But that was in an army hospital I Alaska in 1990.......
i was born a couple weeks early, which was a good thing because i was already huge for an unborn child, had i kept growing for three more weeks they would have had trouble getting me out.
Apparently when I was born, it was wrapped three times while still in the womb, and they had to do an emergency C section like in this scene because my heart rate dropped. I didn't need resuscitation, though.
I love dr cox explanation to his son. He’ll never mention how much he loves Jordan to any adult, in fact he usually refers to her as some sort of animal (snake, blood sucking creature) but for jack he says he loves her because it really matters now and that just shows that dr Cox is a responsible and honourable guy and is just good writing.
His relationship with Jordan grew more and more. Laverne helped with that. But it is sad to hear what he said, then remember that Jack died a few seasons later.
Stowys the benefits are probably ridiculous, also getting healthcare and proper treatment costs you hundreds of thousands of dollars so it’s in his best interest to stay there. TLDR: great healthcare benefits trumps millions of dollars.
I love how the janitor helps Turk in dragging the ice machine across the hospital.Little moments like these are the reason why I love this show. The janitor who is... Well the janitor, manages to be a good person and a good friend when it really counts.
Did he though? Why would he sit with the surgeon when the guy's wife was going into surgery? I don't think Dr. Kelso told anyone or else Dr. Cox, the janitor, heck, even the security guard would have intervened.
A moment to contemplate whether the Janitor knew about the release button and was having a messed up time watching Turk squirm, or if Kelso had kept it entirely to himself.

It makes me happy that Turk was the one who brought the baby out to meet everybody. Daddys are very very special because they will DESTROY anybody who would ever try to harm their babies.
