It just struck me, after decades, that the riff at 2:37 is played on one guitar. The riff that mystifies my ears unlike any other, and makes it hard to breathe, and it's one guitar. I think Judy's bass has something to do with it, but still, just nuts

The raw energy, the jagged/off kilter harmonics. It’s hard to believe one guy is making all those beautifully chaotic sounds on one guitar.

Years later and I still come back to this as the best live performance I've ever seen from Modest Mouse. That's not to say other shows aren't also amazing, but the amount of sheer energy Isaac puts into this performance just blows me away every single time.

Well, it was one of the most amazing musical viewing times of my life Modest Mouse was one of the greatest bands I’ve ever seen in this form I probably saw them 25 times between 1997 and 2000. Isaac Brock was a fucking freak of nature, and the rhythm section was so powerful, Jeremiah Green was a fucking God the sparks flying off isaacs bendy strings were so influential on me. Everybody loved this band for a good reason. There was no doubt there was something very special and then it wouldn’t be long before the whole world knew. God bless Jeremiah. May he rest in peace.
