It's a Yaw Damper. Not Dampener. See Section 3-5 of the Pilot's Guide. 40 year autopilot tech here. Just finished installing this autopilot in 177RG with a GTN750 driving an Aspen EFD1000Pro MAX. Works flawlessly. Finishing the flight tests this week.

Either is correct. It both damps and dampens, which are the same, and both are correct.
CORRECTION: In the video I mistakenly say pushing the HDG button turns on the autopilot, that is not correct.
can the setup in the 3100 be set to use mph instead of knots? My airspeed is in mph.
Can this autopilot be used on a G1000 to replace the KAP140? I have a 2006 C-182T. Looking to upgrade the autopilot.
Hi Jeff!, The G1000 system can be a challenge. My best advice is to contact Andy Campbell directly at andy.campbell@genesys-aerosystems.com
@@PilotSafetyOrg THANKS - I emailed Andy. Much appreciated.
Regarding the STEC 3100- Can I use any baro-corrected the vertical controls? you state Garmin g500 txi works... so would a Garmin G5 work as well?
The G5 is not currently compatible with the 3100, and I'm guessing that Garmin probably intended it that way, at least for now.
The G5 HSI absolutely works with the S-Tec 3100. It is compatible.
One would think a 7,000 hour “Master Instructor” would know there is no such thing as a yaw dampener. It has a yaw damper!
Does it dampen the yaw?
