    You mentioned Dany's eyes. I've seen them 7 times in the past 14 months and have tickets to see them next month in their hometown, Monterrey MX. Dany Becomes the song when they perform live. It's an amazing thing to witness their stage presence.

    For me The Warning will always be tied to the Foo Fighters. In March 2022, The Warning opened for the Foo Fighters in Mexico City, which turned out to be the last concert Taylor Hawkins performed. Needless to say, Dany, Pau and Ale were devastated with news just a couple days after the concert. Sohum, I love your reactions and your desire to spread love through music. I look forward to your next reaction to both The Warning and also Angelina Jordan.

    In case this wasn't impressive enough:
    The video was filmed on a mountainside a few miles from their home in Monterrey, Mexico. The audio is live, not a studio dub. Due to lack of cameras, DPA performed the song 3 times to get all the camera angles.

    They are not of this world. Covers serve many important functions. When you're young it help you learn. When you're starting out people familiar with the song will listen and if they like it they'll remember you. It also signals your own taste in genre and if you like a song enough to cover it, people will know what you intention is as an artist. At this point they need to concentrate on originals, but as time goes its an important sign of respect to artists that an established band will still occasionally cover a song.

    I love these older videos that just show their evolution into the Rock Machine they have become. Little Ale killing the Bassline while singing at such an early age is mind blowing. They are such a tight unit. Those harmonic vocals and just how they hit the many pauses put them at another level even at such an early stage in their careers. I’m 75 an nobody can still give me goosebumps like these girls. They make me feel like a young man once again. 🎶⚡️🎶⚡️🎶⚡️❤️

  • @torresilk4277
    @torresilk4277 วันที่ผ่านมา +21

    The Warning doesn’t want to be seen as a cover band which is why they basically stopped doing them for a while and only occasionally do them now. Obviously they’ve done Enter Sandman because they were asked and did include it in their shows. I think they were recently asked to do a cover, possibly for SiriusXM which is why we now have them doing You Oughta Know. They have performed that on a couple of other occasions.
    I think their own catalogue is big enough to maybe include one cover on each new album if they want to. Which of course they would include in their tours for those albums.
    I wouldn’t presume to tell them what to do to increase their profile. They’re doing pretty well on their own.

    • @RockMusic1959
      @RockMusic1959 วันที่ผ่านมา +4

      Agreed, but I don't think you will see covers on their albums. With 4 original albums now, there have not been any covers on them. lol

    • @NoSmokingDogs
      @NoSmokingDogs วันที่ผ่านมา +3

      @@RockMusic1959 I'm with you, I don't see them ever publishing a cover unless it's something unique like Enter Sandman. And for the record, covers are fine when you're just starting out playing shows, it gives people a chance to see your talent matched up against a song they know. I've discovered a lot of bands through covers, including TW. In my case it was a 10 year old Pau covering a Kelly Clarkson song. More recently I found Freeze the Fall through their Evolve cover. It was an OK cover but it led me to their original music which is also fantastic.

    • @solarvanlife8177
      @solarvanlife8177 15 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

      They're way beyond being a cover band now. Even if they do publish another one, only people that don't have a clue will call them a cover band.
      Many top bands included covers well into their careers. It's not because of lack of material, it's out of respect for the original band.

    This was my "gateway drug" back in 2016. Their ferocity and musicianship were amazing, of course, but what really caught my ear was Pau's millisecond timing and finesse. Not a musician so I don't know the terms, but she's modulating the strike power and creating a variable "empty space" between double hits that ebbs and flows to create a sonic "heartbeat" that perfectly follows the emotion of the music. She already sounds a veteran session drummer, not a tiny little kid just shy of her 14th birthday.

    The Warning has done the cover phase... They are now big enough to only do their originals. However they can kill any cover they put their minds and skills to. For example in 2024 they performed a cover of Alanis Morissette's song You Oughta Know and absolutely killed it!

    The Pretender - Foo Fighters cover
    this video was shot in a lot on a hill outside their home town... they took 4 takes and they played the song completely through each time... the audio is from the first take... the other takes were done for the additional camera shots because they had only one camera to work with... today there is a house on this lot...
    imagine taking a walk in the valley behind and below them and hearing this reverberating through the hills from somewhere above you... i mean 🤯
    this is also the only time you'll see Pau singing into an overhead mic instead of her headset mic she uses today...

    Story goes the Foo Fighters saw the video, which led to them inviting the Warning to open for them. Guess they really liked it. And 8 years ago puts them at 16, 14 & 11..( or 17,15 & 12 depending on the time of year. Not sure when this was exactly. ) That’s insane.

    What’s really cool about this video is the fact that they were three young girls. And they sounded like three young girls, but the musicianship was outstanding. Yeah the song could use a rhythm guitarist, but what they do with just the three of them is astounding. It’s just emotional to watch and listen to.

    Their source of creativity is too abundant for them not to focus almost 100% on their originals, but I do hope that from time to time they will gift us with a cover. Alanis Morrissette's one was outstanding, and it came to life in just three days. I mean, they can cover anything they set their minds to.
    Interesting commentary on the very distinct sections within the song, with very pronounced changes. It made me think almost immediately of Iron Maiden and System of a Down, for example. Pau and Ale were talking about Chop Suey yesterday in a short video... who knows 😄

    I always said that if I were in a band, and even if we made it to a huge success, I would always do two covers at our shows. Not always the same covers, but know a lot of different ones and pick two to different ones every night to not only make the night special for the fans, but also to feel like you're not giving the same show every night so it doesn't become robotic.

This cover blew my mind, considering how old they were back then. I enjoy your reactions. One of the rare occasions where Ale took out her Gibson SG bass for spin. As for the covers, The Warning did those to learn from them, but the minute they launched their first album in 2017, they consciously decided to not do covers anymore, until in 2020 the owner of the Whiskey A Go Go, which has helped them a lot, asked them to do a Metallica cover and in 2021 when Metallica invited them on the Blacklist album.
