They wrote this song at the request of Metallica! Metallica put it on their Blacklist album, which was the 30th anniversary of the Black album. They wrote and recorded the song in a week with Alessia Cara singing what went on the album.
They did a straight cover of ES, with the solo, a decade ago when they were 14 (Dany, gtr/voc), 12 (Pau, dr) and 9 (Ale, bs). It went viral (25+ million views) and got them noticed by Ellen DeGeneres, who brought them on her show. Then they went to summer camp at Berklee, where one of their teachers predicted that "they'd win a Grammy within ten years". Well, they're nominated for a Latin Grammy for the Spanish song on their current album, and the "regular" Grammy nominations are yet to be announced. Anyway, to see the straight cover they did as kids, search for "the warning enter sandman 2014"
It's cool how The Warning went viral as very young girls doing what was essentially a note perfect cover of Enter Sandman, and now they've paid tribute and reimagined it in a fresh new way.

Check out the same song at Teatro Metropolitan (THE WARNING ENTER SANDMAN TEATRO METROPOLITAN). I love the strings, but the drummer had the flu during this version. in the Teatro Metropolitan version she really belts the harmonies-both versions are great
I think the biggest appeal of The Warning is that you can go back and watch them covering this song when they were young girls (I think Alejandra was 9) and then watch this video and really appreciate their evolution from three sisters having fun in their basement to a legit touring rock band, it's inspiring. Also, love the Fiore, a criminally underrated PRS.
Tyler, be prepared to be invaded by The Warning Army! Our favorite saying about new fans of the band is "going down the rabbit hole" so it sounds like you're ready to earn your Officer's bars already! They're currently halfway through a US tour (Louder Than Life, Atlanta, Nashville in the next three days) and will then make their way across Canada with Halestorm and Evanescence. They're also releasing one song from this particular concert every other day around noon Eastern - about a dozen are out already if you go to their YT channel.
That is freakin awesome! I've never heard this band before and I've definitely been missing out, guess I know whose catalogue to go through on my way to uni later 🔥
From a huge Metallica fan I just have to say that once I had actually heard this I couldn’t bring myself to listen to the original anymore! I really hope that you decide to listen to more of their music, they really don’t have any even mediocre songs, all good!
@@vaportrails7943 I was when this album was made and for a while after, but now I’ve moved on I don’t want to be stuck in the pre 2000 stuff anymore, it depresses me!
Everything you said is bang on, Tyler! And I’m so happy that you discovered DPA!! Did you know that Metallica asked them to write this re-imagined version to appear as the first cut on the 30th anniversary release of the Black album? These girls are kicking ass, and kicking doors open all over town for future rock bands. See them live if you can. You’ve been WARNED!! 🤟🏼⚡️
Just to clarify: Metallica asked numerous bands to "re-imagine" the songs from the Black Album. They were given free rein to do whatever they wanted musically; they just had to keep the lyrics. The whole thing (arranging, recording The Warning in Mexico, recording Alessia Cara's vocals in Canada, David Bendeth mixing it in New Jersey, mastering in LA, AND shooting the video in BOTH Mexico and Canada) was done in one week.
Tidal suggested me "The Warning" (the song was "More") and I was like "Wow, this band is so cool" without even knowing that they were three sisters. And then I got addicted. So, hell no, the fact that they are "girls" doesn't matter - they ROCK, period.
Their A&R rep from Lava records says, "They're not a great female band, or a great young band. They're a great ROCK BAND." Period. Take age and gender out of it. They stand up to the greats.
Just keep going! The more you know about the sisters and their team, the more of a fan you will become. Great reaction for your first dive down the rabbit hole!
I second that emotion. Moreover, your ability to draw out abstraction in harmony (or relative keys) is uncanny. I love that you're able to identify and address how the 'Warning' might've embellished Metallica's melodic hallmarks. The icing on the cake (for me) was you pointing out the fact: 'Ladies & Gentlemen's do you notice something missing here'? Your expression of disappointment (in your voice) was not lip service. Where's the guitar solo? I think that this is missing? So, how 'bout this?! Your solo had many elements that Frank Zappa uses to gauge degrees of a guitarist's skillset, stating 'to know if a guitarist is noteworthy', I [Zappa] listen for something in particular. Any guess what it is? The # 1 thing Zappa listened for (to know if any guitarist is great) was whether they played a solo consisting of any series of notes that are unusual in arrangement- to the point of surprising Frank's savvy melodic intuition. He lusted for economy of scales and evolving notes into larger contexts. Stating as to whether a solo had more than mere raw, emotional excitement. Or if it resolves in additional surpises? This guitar solo that you've offered to the 'Warning' is so monumental, it checks many (of the) boxes that are benchmarks in Zappa's criteria. You played a solo that resoundedly will want to live inside each of us. I love finding soloists, with that fire, taking risk to get a better outcome! I'm a tough nut to crack! But when I see 100% conviction, I'm all aboard! I praise all your intents here. IMHO, you've surprised the hell out of me !
I’ve followed this channel for years…and I don’t even play guitar. But Win is a genius player. And the fact that he RESPECTS the musicianship of these ladies means even more to me….. I discovered them last year and was wowed. still am.
The thing I most admire with Daniela is that she's singing while riffing and (kinda) soloing, not just playing rhythm guitar. And she does both on an exceptional level. She is a decent soloist when the song demands it, but she's a band member first. And again: riffing and playing melody while singing and being one of the best female rock vocalists of today is not a small achievement.
And what's even more impressive is that they had to meet a crazy deadline to make this cover and they did everything: writing, arrangement, recording in a week!🤯
Wow, this is super impressive. I'm normally not a fan of covers because a lot of what I hear are people trying to copy note for note, and not hitting that mark. I got chills watching/listening to this one though.. Bravo. 😎
My fav. Part of this video is Tyler matching his beige t shirt with his beige window blinds. Since watching this, I’ve watched an entire live show by The Warning, downloaded most of their music, and I’m very grateful for Tyler sharing them with his channel.
I have said it so many times I no longer have any words left which mean super, duper, fantastic when it comes to these three sisters. They never do anything half baked their sense of quality is impeccable. No Mather if they do a music video or a song it is always top notch. And they don´t just do videos they do videos with a message and a theme, throw backs in time and relatable to what they have done before. When The Warning write lyrics they don´t just put words on top of each other, they install meaning in the text. They tell stories. So if they sing in Spanish and you don´t know what the words mean, they make sure you feel it through the music. They say it them selves "Music is the language".
One of the keys to picking up The Warning’s songs, IMHO, is to always pay attention to Ale on bass. Even if the melody isn’t being driven by a bass riff, she’s almost never simply following the guitar. (The once exception that I can remember is “Automatic Sun,” where the bass, guitar, and drums are often locked together note for note.) I’ve theorized that they purposely push Ale’s part forward because she’s the one with perfect pitch and rhythm, so even Pau on drums follows her, rather than the band following the drums. One reactor who’s taught me a ton about The Warning is Phil Zero, who’s a guitarist and singer, and he’s been breaking down their composition techniques. His analyses of “Choke” and “Dust to Dust” are masterclasses. He hasn’t reacted to this remake of “Enter Sandman,” though, and I wonder what he’ll make of it.
Phil is my favorite reactor for The Warning. I learn so much listening to him break down their songs. It has helped me appreciate The Warning on a deeper level.
Yes! MetallicA’s my favorite band and my daughter LOVES music but hadn’t found any Metal she liked until she found this band! I didn’t know they covered this! Tonight’s gonna be LIT 🔥 when daddy gets home from work!!!! So glad I clicked on this video! 🤘
As someone who has been following what they’ve been doing (1 year now), they’ve done nothing but impress me with everything they’ve done. And they sound incredibly good and consistent at such a young age.
What’s crazy about this is they only had 1 week to come up with the arrangement, and record it. It’s a collaboration with a Canadian singer Alessia Cara. This was done during Covid and she was in Canada and the warning girls were in Mexico(where they are from) and they did everything through zoom. Please react to the warning perform Evolve live at the VMAs they are so good. 😭
YES!! Finally some recognition from a notable source. I wish Beato would do a "what makes this song great". He could pick anyone of their songs. Dust to dust, Hell you call a dream, Disciple. EVOLVE, Choke, Money, More, Sick!, Z. Animosity, Survive, Queen of the murder scene. Really just any of their songs.
Started really loving The Warning. Great band. They are just fun to watch. EDIT: I love them because they are women as well. They inspire my daughter and it's a beautiful thing.
Nice breakdown of this song. I'm The Warning Army, Dany Battalion (by a smidge). They only had about a week to put this together from when they were invited in, and did a fantastic job (the other versions of Enter Sandman on the Blacklist are all more or less straight covers; this is the only one that dared to do something creative with the song). This is one of two concerts they played it with the backing strings, the other being in Monterrey. The string players are all members of the music faculty at a university in Monterrey (not sure which one), and it looks like they had a lot of fun with it too. After the song finished, they started to file off stage when Dany stopped them so she could introduce them to the crowd. A very typical thing of them to do. Dany doesn't play a lot of guitar solos. They only put one in when they deem it fits the music, and Dany, as best as I can tell, is in full agreement with this. They're energetic on stage but don't show off for the sake of it. Her don't tend to be particularly elaborate; Dany played a lot more in the early days when they were doing covers, and there's a video of them watching Eruca Sative (an Argentine band), when the guitarist hopped off the stage to give Dany her guitar to improvise a solo. She did something like a 50 second solo that was a lot more elaborate then anything she does in TW's own songs. A couple of her best-loved solos are short and technically simple (The End and Show Me The Light, power ballad and ballad respectively). The End's solo is only about 15 seconds long, and is much more a David Gilmour type solo, but to me it answers the big question of Queen of the Murder Scene (their second album, which is a concept album), namely who ultimately wins the war inside the head of the protagonist. The solo you played over the riff at the end was actually quite interesting. It's certainly not one they would be likely to play (and it couldn't be done without a backing track for the existing guitar part), but it was an interesting take on their version of the song. Perhaps someone will cover it some day with something like this, which would be very appropriate. I saw a video of a high school band in Bangkok (Buzzkill) play their usual closer (Evolve) at a battle of the bands, and the guitarist played this kind of solo during the bridge. I thought it a very good take on the song -- again, not something TW are inclined to do, but a perfectly valid interpretation.
I generally don't care for play-through reactions because they tend to be overbearing, but yours was informative and appreciative, and I enjoyed it. 👍 That they pulled this reimagining off in just one week at the ages of 20, 18, and 15 is even more remarkable.
Ages Now: 24, 22, 19. Their Ages when they rewrote Enter Sandman was: • Daniela Villarreal: The guitarist and main vocalist was 20 years old • Paulina Villarreal: The drummer was 18 years old • Alejandra Villarreal: The bassist was 15 years old Taken from Google
@charlielightfoot7006 I knew you were close I wanted to be 100% correct. So I checked and your 1st comment is 💯 correct... it's so amazing what these young ladies could do, when they were very young. The most amazing band on the planet. imop
These sisters are amazing, it’s essentially their song now. You probably know by now that this is the song that started it all when they covered it as kids. Their originals (4 full albums) are brilliant, they are the future of rock. I’m flying into the hurricane from Minneapolis to see them in Atlanta and Nashville this week, hope to hell they don’t have to cancel.
It's their deliberate decision not to make guitar solo a mandatory element of every song, but they absolutely can pull it off, like in the song "Z" (great performance from the same concert published 3 weeks ago).
Wow! Thanks for sharing this amazing video, and adding your own talent, insight, and the solo at the end, which totally ROCKS!!! Bob from Spokane Valley, WA USA
Welcome to the Warning Nation Tyler. ❤🎉😂 We all are so happy to have you. This is a very special day for The Warning. You being here, shows exactly why this is awesome and it’s so awesome watching these girls take over
Fun fact, the Gibson Explorer Dany is playing is a gift from Lzzy Hale back from when they were on tour with Halestorm two years ago. It was a total surprise to her, during a planned guitar swap between songs, instead of the tech, Lzzy stepped on stage with the guitar. Dany thought she was only borrowing it, only after the end of their set she found out that wasn't the case. It was brand new equipped to Dany's specs, Lzzy consulted with Gibson and TW team to make it so. Another crazy thing is that Dany also has a unique Manson guitar gifted to her by Matt Bellamy during their Muse support run in Europe last year. The guitar is unique because it doesn't exist for sale in the mustard yellow color, Matt asked her about her favorite color and that was it. I think it's the Oryx 6 model, all three did their gear breakdown for Digital Tour Bus last year which can be found on youtube.
I posted another comment earlier, but I neglected to mention that, in their 2014 cover as kids, 14-year-old Dany played the solo and absolutely NAILED IT; wah pedal and all!
Also, Tyler (and I don’t ask you for much) get the new album KEEP ME FED, run it through your kick-ass system at full volume, and listen to the opening track, Six Feet Deep. Like, right now. I dare you not to instantly develop “Metal Face” as your hands involuntarily curl into the symbol of the horned beast!
@@RobertLindabury In a recent interview, The Warning said their top favorite songs of all time are: *Survive* at five, *Disciple* at four, *Sharks* at three, *Apologize* at two, and at number one is *Automatic Sun.* I believe they have not yet played *Apologize* live, as it is particularly complex. But they're working on it. They've said time to rehearse for performances is at a premium with their touring schedules.
4 albums, 60+ original songs. They are in the middle of their North American tour at the moment after touring Europe over the summer including multiple festivals.
"they've improved a lot since then" ... Kinda happens when you don't stop doing something for 10 years!!! They're actually something like 13 singles, a couple of EP's and four albums deep now.
@@Wishi13 Most of those singles are part of albums, and Mayday EP is basically half of Error. They only have one standalone single, Narcisista, or two with this cover if you ignore that it's in Blacklist album since that's not their project.
What an incredible and insightful review! Well done. Glad to see you discover them. Subbed for more reactions like this. I hadn't been to a concert in 10 years since seeing Queen/Adam Lambert in 2014, but just saw The Warning in Boston a couple weeks ago and they put on a show I'll never forget. I was already a fan and knew what to expect, but there's no substitute for seeing it live from a few feet away. Their stage presence and confidence is a huge part of their appeal.
I love your solo - at the end of the day they only have one guitarist, and I think Dany made a decision to step back a bit from doing big solos in favour of perfecting her performance on rhythm in precision and tone (not to mention, you know, lead vocals...) . It would be cool if she could clone herself into a lead guitarist and a rhythm/vocalist, but it's not really possible to recruit a fourth member to a band of three sisters. She could play the original solo when she was 15, but it isn't quite their style today.
So glad you covered The Warning. They’ve quickly become my favourite rock band in quite some time. So much variety in 4 astonishingly good albums and seeing them live was incredible. The stage presence and energy gives the kind of feeling that you’d think only possible from making a purchase with the dodgy guy at the back of the pub.
Tyler, these young ladies have the hunger needed to become rock goddesses. I discovered them about 7 years ago and with every successive year they have become a great band. Three very talented young ladies from Mexico who started by playing the video game Rock Band and told their parents they wanted to do that. If you love this amazing cover you will love their originals, they are outstanding. Stay Cool and….. \m/ Stay Metal \m/
Well they're all classically train in piano and they play to a click track, I've been lucky enough to see them twice and they don't disappoint the energy is always there, doesn't matter if is a small venue or a big festival these ladies always deliver.
Great reaction. Arranged and recorded (minus the strings) for the Black List album in less than 10 days. They collaborated with Alessia Cara during covid so she stayed in Canada and they were in Mexico. They have 4 albums of great originals and everything from this Pepsi Center concert is worth a listen but your next step should be Dust to Dust / Dull Knives from this concert. (they're not big on solos but check out Z from this concert for a good one)
This is a true reinterpretation of the song, while other bands merely attempt to cover the original. It’s similar to Dirty Loops’ version of Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ - so interesting and refreshing. It brings fresh air to ES and serves as a cool homage to the boys.
I found The Warning a couple few years ago, and I immediately had high hopes for them. They have some great performances they've done on morning shows and things like that. They're a lot if fun.
I've been listening to them for a while and they are great and getting better. That cover is definitely the best one I've heard out of all the covers. These young ladies are definitely going places. Thanks for sharing

That is freakin awesome! I've never heard this band before and I've definitely been missing out, guess I know whose catalogue to go through on my way to uni later 🔥
The Warning’s new album is so fire more people need to hear it!
From a huge Metallica fan I just have to say that once I had actually heard this I couldn’t bring myself to listen to the original anymore!
I really hope that you decide to listen to more of their music, they really don’t have any even mediocre songs, all good!
Yeah…right…

Best Band in rock right now! Should check every live performance...of every song.
@@GreedyLittleFokkerAwesome!!
I dug this a lot more than I thought I would
Tidal suggested me "The Warning" (the song was "More") and I was like "Wow, this band is so cool" without even knowing that they were three sisters.
@williamburkholder769 That's a fact, 💯% Rock stars.
Just keep going! The more you know about the sisters and their team, the more of a fan you will become. Great reaction for your first dive down the rabbit hole!
I went down the rabbit hole with this band too, I couldn’t stop watching. These ladies are fantastic!
The is the most original cover of this song I have ever heard and I'm so glad this video popped up in my feed
Dude!!! I am so glad you are now a member of the Warning Army. Been watching you for years.
Love your positivity Tyler!! You are such a refreshing person. Keep it up!
I second that emotion. Moreover,
your ability to draw out abstraction
in harmony (or relative keys) is
uncanny. I love that you're able
to identify and address how the
'Warning' might've embellished
Metallica's melodic hallmarks.
The icing on the cake (for me)
was you pointing out the fact:
'Ladies & Gentlemen's do you
notice something missing here'?
Your expression of disappointment
(in your voice) was not lip service.
Where's the guitar solo? I think that
this is missing? So, how 'bout this?!
Your solo had many elements that
Frank Zappa uses to gauge degrees
of a guitarist's skillset, stating 'to
know if a guitarist is noteworthy',
I [Zappa] listen for something in
particular. Any guess what it is?
The # 1 thing Zappa listened for
(to know if any guitarist is great)
was whether they played a solo
consisting of any series of notes
that are unusual in arrangement-
to the point of surprising Frank's
savvy melodic intuition. He lusted
for economy of scales and evolving
notes into larger contexts. Stating
as to whether a solo had more than
mere raw, emotional excitement. Or
if it resolves in additional surpises?
This guitar solo that you've offered
to the 'Warning' is so monumental,
it checks many (of the) boxes that
are benchmarks in Zappa's criteria.
You played a solo that resoundedly
will want to live inside each of us.
I love finding soloists, with that fire,
taking risk to get a better outcome!
I'm a tough nut to crack! But when I
see 100% conviction, I'm all aboard!
I praise all your intents here. IMHO,
you've surprised the hell out of me !
Best band in the world right now
I’ve followed this channel for years…and I don’t even play guitar. But Win is a genius player. And the fact that he RESPECTS the musicianship of these ladies means even more to me….. I discovered them last year and was wowed. still am.
Every time I watch this band I find some new aspect that I like
The thing I most admire with Daniela is that she's singing while riffing and (kinda) soloing, not just playing rhythm guitar. And she does both on an exceptional level. She is a decent soloist when the song demands it, but she's a band member first. And again: riffing and playing melody while singing and being one of the best female rock vocalists of today is not a small achievement.
💯
better than Armstrong? (linkin park)
@@-jank-willson Is there a reason to bring her into this?
@@-jank-willson , in my view: yes. But since a lot of this comes down to personal taste I wrote " one of the best", not just "the best".

fair play for giving em exposure, for years i have wondered why they are not a massive and a household name
Bravo. 😎
They have 60+ originals, you should check some more out.
@@GreatOutdoors1 Thank you for the tip!
My fav. Part of this video is Tyler matching his beige t shirt with his beige window blinds. Since watching this, I’ve watched an entire live show by The Warning, downloaded most of their music, and I’m very grateful for Tyler sharing them with his channel.
Best rock band working today. I'll be in Nashville for the show on Saturday. I'm so excited.
(The once exception that I can remember is “Automatic Sun,” where the bass, guitar, and drums are often locked together note for note.)
I’ve theorized that they purposely push Ale’s part forward because she’s the one with perfect pitch and rhythm, so even Pau on drums follows her, rather than the band following the drums.
Everybody check out the studio version with Alessia Cara for it is killer!
This band will melt your face! You've been WARNED!
Yes! MetallicA’s my favorite band and my daughter LOVES music but hadn’t found any Metal she liked until she found this band! I didn’t know they covered this! Tonight’s gonna be LIT 🔥 when daddy gets home from work!!!! So glad I clicked on this video! 🤘
They’re really not metal. They’re rock/hard rock at most, but I get your point
Your daughters will already know about this song, but perhaps not with the strings included.
Metallica is overrated in my opinion
@@Billy23562 Your opinion is incorrect. I’m just kidding 😂
Enjoy their music, you have been warned!
Composed and recorded in ONE week to meet the deadline for submission on Metallica’s Black List tribute album.
like, no pressure,,
As someone who has been following what they’ve been doing (1 year now), they’ve done nothing but impress me with everything they’ve done.
He's too busy ragging on all the modern music. He did sit in with Bendeth (seeming a little bored) on a mixing video with one of TW's songs.
@@solarvanlife8177 Exactly. He's 'past it'. Sad day, whenever that happened several years ago.
Beato knows all about The Warning. And has met them on a live stream. He needs to get his act together and interview them on his show.

Started really loving The Warning. Great band. They are just fun to watch. EDIT: I love them because they are women as well. They inspire my daughter and it's a beautiful thing.
awesome! 👏🏻⚡️
Now 24, 22 and 19 in age.
Ages Now: 24, 22, 19.
Their Ages when they rewrote Enter Sandman was:
• Daniela Villarreal: The guitarist and main vocalist was 20 years old
• Paulina Villarreal: The drummer was 18 years old
• Alejandra Villarreal: The bassist was 15 years old

These sisters are amazing, it’s essentially their song now. You probably know by now that this is the song that started it all when they covered it as kids. Their originals (4 full albums) are brilliant, they are the future of rock. I’m flying into the hurricane from Minneapolis to see them in Atlanta and Nashville this week, hope to hell they don’t have to cancel.
It’s really cool how excited and generous you are in this video. Thumbs up.

Check out their recent original songs. One of the most talented, energetic rock bands today!

Thats amazing. I remember seeing them cover Enter Sandman like 10 yrs ago. Never knew they were still playing and they've improved a lot since then
4 albums, 60+ original songs.
It's like they take us away from the original, then make us love their version but in the end we get very joyful to hear the original riff!

The Warning is amazing, and they've been my favorite new rock band for 4 years now. They're very talented songwriters!
