  • After returning from my trip home (to The Bahamas), I had to spend 10 days self-isolating inside my flat in Glasgow. Here’s a vlog about keeping myself entertained by looking out my window. ;)
If you’re watching this right when I’ve published - I filmed the intro weeks ago! It just took me forever to finish editing and finally upload. I know spring is well underway now haha.
If you have any questions feel free to leave them in the comments. :) And if you'd like, check out my blog: gabriellegweneth.com. I'm on insta @gabriellegweneth

You say, "I'm going to Tesco. Big whoop." I say, "I wish I was going or could go to Tesco!" 😆😆😆

Hahaha that is a great perspective! I can imagine one day I might be saying the same thing. Thanks for watching and commenting Norrin!

@@gabriellegweneth Thanks for your reply! I left a few comments on other videos, one or maybe two of which was more information regarding finding work. I saw in early videos you were somewhat discouraged, because things weren't working out as you'd hoped. I'm seriously contimplating making the move to Edinburgh by next April. But, I'm struggling with that same issue. UK laws don't make it easy for a non-UK citizen to get work. Any thoughts/recommendations/experiences you have would be greatly appreciated. All my best! 😊

The mess is so embarrassing in Glasgow. I used to live across the road in Ibrox Street it's not a nice area at all, especially when the football is on and the orange marches in the summer. I live in Anniesland now. There are volunteers out collecting the garbage that's been dumped in certain places, I'll recommend they hit Cessnock soon. I'm sorry you have to see that. At least the weather is better now we've had the sun most of this week and it's been nice to sit outside again. Elder Park in Govan is nice sometimes in the summer so at least that's not too far for you to walk. Stay safe and keep well Gabrielle.

Ohh really? Yea I can imagine what it's like when the football is on :o What are orange marches?
Nice that there are volunteers collecting where you live! How do you find Anniesland otherwise?
Elder Park! I haven't been here since I moved here last year. Thanks for reminding me about it :) I'll have to visit again. Hooray for warm and sunny days!

@@gabriellegweneth In normal non-covid times you'll have massive 'parades' going down Paisley Road West all through June & July usually on Saturdays. They're essentially just hundreds of drunk bigots banging drums and playing sectarian songs about killing catholics. Best avoided at all costs, they have a large police presence that escort them but it's best to just remain indoors. I like Anniesland it's got a large Morrisons, Aldi and M&S are handy too. There are a lot of schools so it's very busy at lunchtime and when they come out at 3. They're top schools tho so the kids are no trouble at all, you just need to arrange your shopping etc. around the times they are in, to avoid long queues. So yeah it's not too bad around here.

@@PaulEcosse :O oh wow!! That sounds terrible and sad. I saw one parade two weekends ago, but it wasn't too big, prob because of covid. It was something to do with Rangers. Thanks for the warning; I'll know what's happening if/when I see those happening and will know to stay indoors.

The local housing do bulk uplifts of the bigger things ppl throw out on certain days of the week, in my area its a Thursday so if you've got an old mattress you don't want you put it out in the street on Wednesday night for uplifting the next day, but you do get some scummy bstards that will do it any day of the week, if you wabt too see how bad thus gets take walk around govanhill but be careful...

Hello I have just watched several of your videos and this appears to be the most recent? Lots of questions have popped into my head as i haven't seen numerous things explained. I have not been able to ascertain what you actually do for a living?? You appear to work from home and not in an office or anything so why Glasgow then? You seemed pretty unprepared at first, did you not do any research prior to moving?? Has your social life improved now as Covid restrictions have changed and the weather should be nicer? Those are just a few of a load of potential questions! 🤔😊

Hi Craig, yes this is the most recent! Your questions would be well answered in a video, so maybe I'll make one addressing them more fully. Aside from - Why Glasgow? - you're the first to ask me all these questions haha.
In the meantime - I moved for the quality of life that comes with living in a more developed country. It may seem to you that I was unprepared, but that might be our different levels of comfort in terms of going somewhere new? I looked at pictures of Scotland and read a few articles but no, I hadn't sorted everything out prior to coming. Where I'd live, for instance - without having firsthand experience of Glasgow or its neighbourhoods - wasn't something I wanted to commit to from a distance. My social life hasn't improved, alas, but I think it will still take time; you could consider me still starting close to zero in that respect. (As in, being able to go out to events and meet people.) If you have any recommendations in that regard I'm all ears! Thanks for watching and for commenting. ^_^

@@gabriellegweneth hi and thanks for that. I used to live in Paisley just outside Glasgow but moved to the south of England many years ago. I remain staunchly Scottish at heart though! I don't know if you do much Googling about Glasgow but there is a very interesting new article entitled '25 best things to do in Glasgow' that you might find helpful. I was going to suggest you visit the Byres Road area in the west end as it is a cool, lively area. Several things there are mentioned in this article. When operating at full speed the city is excellent for shopping, eating out, music and numerous other cultural activities and events. If you do get more involved in what's going on making a video about it would be cool to let people see what Glasgow is REALLY about. Btw the article i referred to is by 'timeout' and was posted only a couple of days ago so is up to date 😊

Hey Craig, thanks for the recommendations! I've been on Byres Road and love walking the West End, but you're right things are just picking up again now. I'm sure there's plenty to look forward to! Live music is *definitely* something I knew I wanted to check out when I moved here. It was kind of sad seeing the flyers posted all around last year for events that were no longer happening. I'll check out the Time Out article. :)
