  • The Himalayas - one of the most beautiful mountain ranges in the world. Home to Mount Everest, the tallest mountain in the world. The pinnacle of achievement for elite mountain climbers and altitude junkies. But at the bottom of this intimidating giant lies a goal achievable by everyday people - Mount Everest Base Camp.
This short documentary follows a group of EverTrekkers on their journey from Lukla in the Himalayas to Everest Base Camp, at an altitude of 5,364 meters.
It looks at the experiences they encountered, the fun times, the tough times and the feeling of achievement on reaching the most amazing place on the planet.
Filmed on a Panasonic GH5 and a DJI OSMO by Steve Bollschweiler of Insight Video Marketing

Lovely piece of film. I used a guide from Jiri to Lukla but carried on by myself after that to EBC, back in 98. In 99 and 2000 I went solo (apart from hiring a guide to summit Imja Tse) as going in a group didn't suit me. The camaraderie and friendship looks nice and people clearly love the experience but, for me, being able to get up at dawn and do the 12 K to the next stop by midday was a great freedom. Also, I got first pick of a bed/room and got to spend the afternoon relaxing by climbing higher than I intended to sleep, which helps with acclimatisation, and sitting enjoying the view. I once got asked to herd a load of yaks up to Thyangboche, which was a unique experience! Maybe I'll try going in a group if I ever return...and Evertrek would certainly be my 1st choice of organiser! Nice video.

I wonder why you go both up and down via Tengpoche, when there is a much better high trail via Phortse on the opposite side of the valley. Impressive views across the valley, practically no trekkers and plenty of wildlife like musk deer and Himalayan tahr. Tengpoche can be visited on the way own.
