  • Basheer Zaheer test drives the Porsche 718 2.5 Cayman GTS and review's what it drives and feels like. The 718 GTS despite not being naturally aspirated produces a phenomenal sound out of the Boxer 4 Engine with the Porsche Sports Exhaust.

    The 718 GTS 2018 model is definitely the one to have , it’s awesome immaterial of being 4 cylinder - it’s super quick and road handling is out of this world .
    I have driven the 4/6 cylinder not a lot in it
    It’s quicker than my old 911 C4S
    Far better looking to , but I am stating the GTS model here only
    Awesome honest video .
    Simple a great car - all should try then speak up

    Well S owner here and have to say the difference in performance is negligible and certainly not noticeable. So i’d extend the recommendation to the S and in reality the base as well 😄 The rubbish spoken about the sound of the boxer 4 is laughable, I had a VW GTi prior to this and would have paid £££s for the sound the S makes. And before anyone chimes in yes i have driven the 6 boxer in a 987, 997 and turbo version in the 991. This motor has a different character that is equally special. It’s a fabulous looker, better than the executive bloated GT 992. For me the 718 has finally come out of the shadows of the 911 and now represents the true sports car heritage of porsche

    nice video. I had a 2018 718 cayman GTS a couple of years ago and i loved every mile covered. you did capture the "angry" sound of these engines well. i remember the awesome low down torque of these engines and you really will struggle to find something that will cover any B road and put a bigger smile on your face.
    the later 2019 cars dont sound as good as the one in the video due to the addition of the petrol particulate filter
    i only sold my GTS as i found a superb 991.1 targa 4S which was a car i had always lusted after

      Thanks Tim, you hit the nail on the head. You are absolutely right about covering the B road in this. Superb way to upgrade from the 718 GTS to a 991 Targa 4S. We just got one on stock for which I will share the video with you as soon as it goes live.
      Thanks for the note on the newer 718 from 2019. It’s good to know. We appreciate you sharing your experience 😊❤️

  • @lolowong439
    @lolowong439 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The GTS is much louder and bassy compared to the S. Plus there are 3 radiator and a larger intake in the GTS. (implying that Porsche hinting us to Stage 2 chip the car directly to feel the real performance of the car 😉not a lot of people knowing this. They have to keep Cayman below 911 but when you drive the 718GTS2.5 you always feel that there is more from the engine.)

    Exact model I’m after, although ideally with carmine red stitching and fewer miles, but lovely little review. My search continues

    0-60 times have been quicker than you mentioned. Motor Trend road tests with PDK was 3.9 seconds. If you do a simple tune to the turbo to this car it’s a absolute beast!

    Something I didn't notice mentioned is that this example looks to have the standard PASM suspension but not the optional SPASM, which sits 10mm lower. How did you find the handling of this one? Have you ever driven the SPASM model?

      There is a small difference and unless you are pushing the car very hard you won’t notice it. It might make a bigger difference on track

    Great video. One point to note is that the car only has the standard Air con and not climate control as mentioned.
    Easy mistake to make but thought it worth mentioning.

    Is that a 4 litre or a 2.5litre? Strange the car exhaust makes such a loud noise compared to a normal 718 S. I’m confused 😂

    I’ve drove the 718 cayman s, I loved it, but doesn’t this gts get a bit of criticism because its 4 pot ?
    Isn’t the 981 the gts to have ?

    • @invictusporsche
      @invictusporsche  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Glad to hear that you have personally experienced the 718 S and as you know they are brilliant and awesome sound. I think the criticism comes from the purist who perhaps have owned a 718 or let alone test drive one. I was one of them that though the 981 GTS were the ones to have until driving the 718 :)

      @@invictusporsche thanks for the reply, I think you are right, when I drove the 718 cayman s, it was at Porsches silverstone circuit and like I said I was really impressed, I’ve never driven a 981.
