  • Following a lot of very positive comments about the birdsong in the background of Mike's last video (Mike is the Clinic Director), we thought it would be interesting to film a short video from the garden of the CTAD Clinic, overlooking the lake.
    People attending the clinic have this view from the therapy room, and can step outside to walk and relax in the grounds. We try and create a calm atmosphere of peace and contemplation, with the many different birds for company. Please listen out for the varieties who sang, watch the ripples on the surface of the water as the fish come up to feed and relax.

    We were so engrossed if felt like we were there. Love the birds but seeing the fish come up made us smile. Thank you, much needed today.

    I used to ground myself outside in the park listening to the birds. I’ve slipped a disc in my back and haven’t been able to go for a couple of days so this was so so helpful thank you.

    We love it! Thanks, Dr. Mike. Our system has a "Sparrow," who is enjoying this video. Much better than the ones with the cat, LOL. Of course, our system also has a cat, so our cat liked it when your cat walked across your desk. We all had a laugh out of that.

    If only I could find someone like you in the Netherlands...
    My psychologist is set on the idea that diagnoses are subjective depending on the psychologist, that one simply needs to make the diagnosis based on the symptoms described in the DSM ("if the symptoms you describe to me align with what is in the DSM, you have it. No need for any screening"), and that it can be treated like any other trauma-based disorder, as long as I find a trauma therapist who is open to the idea. She does not believe that the screening/assessment process is necessary for diagnosing OSDD/DID, nor does she find diagnosing necessary in itself. She also doesn't seem to believe that treating DID is done any differently than any other trauma-based disorder, thus trying to immediately put me through EMDR.
    I did find a credible clinic in NL, but they are unwilling to take me on as a patient because I live two hours away, thus not being in their direct vicinity. The one local to me is known to send patients into the streets feeling severely dissociated, changing their diagnoses behind their backs, etc. As it is now, my only options are to either go to said local clinic, or to try things out with a regular trauma specialist and hope for the best.
    I am terrified. I have been struggling with these symptoms for well over a decade and have been repeatedly sent from one psychologist to the next. I have been betrayed by the health care system in dozens of ways. I just want help and clarity.
    (We usually refer to ourselves in plural, but seeing how we have never been properly assessed, I decided it would be best to use singular pronouns in this comment.)

      Hi Yuna, sounds like you have had some difficult experiences trying to access therapy, I truly hope you get that decent assessment and are able to find someone. Have any of these providers considered online therapies?

      @@thectadclinic Thank you for your kind words and support.
      I am not quite sure if I understand what you mean... May I ask what kind of online therapies you are referring to?

      @@Yuna264 you mentioned a credible provider but too far away. Can they not see you via Zoom/Skype etc?

      @Yuna264 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@thectadclinic Unfortunately, they are unwilling to treat me (online or otherwise) due to me living a few cities away. The most they can do is give my therapist some advice every now and then, but only for a session or so, I believe.

      There are various forums about the place where you might be able to engage in some helpful conversation, perhaps reddit, Twitter etc?

      @@thectadclinic I try reddit but it's all American and I'm in the UK like you so it's really not that helpful cause I can't really make friends or connect when there the other side of the world plus it's very different system there to here need something UK based. As for twitter not sure never used it? :/
      Ideally something in person would be best but living up north there really isn't that much compared down south feel very isolated :/
