    I'm so lucky. My girl told me to promise not to spend anything more than 2 grand. She's not materialistic she just wants a life with me and I couldn't be more grateful.

    Really interesting topic! Having the conversation with your partner about what they want is very important -- easily the key to the ring.

    Totally agree with the option to upgrade later when you can afford it. I was thinking about spending a ton on a wedding for only one night... but at the same time you can't go back and redo. At least with a ring you can get a nicer one later 😂

      Totally disagree. No need to spend much or upgrade later

      I would never upgrade my ring. It takes away the sentimental value. That’s the ring my boyfriend designed for me and proposed to me with, upgrading just removes that sentimental value and makes it more about the size of the ring and being flashy rather then a symbol of the love you and your partner share

    This is such a smart video. Love hearing your perspective on this. You are so right that there are so many other and better options instead of a diamond! And your tags are genius! 2021, will be the most expensive wedding year ahah.

    We spent about $500 on the wedding. I spent about $200 on the ring. That was 17 years ago. $500 included dress and food.

    Such good tips!! Okay, with the inclusive language 💖 we both proposed to each other and spoke about what we wanted and how much we should be spending. I’ve always wanted a morganite so that cut a lot of the price. I love my engagement ring so much and stare at it all the time and I’ve had it for over a year. Our wedding bands are simple bands which I think looks very pretty!

    • @KatiefromCanada
      @KatiefromCanada  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Love that! I really love morganite rings - they are so pretty I had my eyes set on one too! I love a simple band, I opted for one as well! They look so delicate!

    When you sell your ring, you’ll likely only get the weighed commodity value, and many times it’s 1/4 the retail price or less.

  • @billyrocky2974

    No more than one mouth income men. You don't need to spend 3 month to show your love. If she loves you she will be happy regardless.
    I think a month if you income is ok. Don't stress and don't get into debt!!!
    Oh, one last thing. Your diamond ring does NOT increase in value..

  • @debtfreeF
    @debtfreeF 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Omg I wish I had $30,000 instead of an engagement ring 😂 I believe my friend got a moissanite ring and it looks just like a diamond ring! Thanks for mentioning that it's solely up to the 2 people getting married on deciding how much the engagement ring to be! It's very hard not to want something better because of what social media and celebrities are wearing, but at the end of the day there's no right or wrong number/price to it; it's whatever that person wants to spend. My coworker wears a silicone band because it's not worth wearing her engagement ring and wedding band if she needs to use her hands for work! Sucks that she's not wearing it more often, but your point on lifestyle can be a big deciding factor on what kind of ring to get! Great video!

    • @KatiefromCanada
      @KatiefromCanada  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks France! I agree - it's a personal decision but I know it's easy to get sucked into wanting something much flashier, especially because of Instagram! I actually don't wear my wedding ring to work because I find it uncomfortable while i'm typing so much - I Should look into silicone!

    im here because me and my fiance are gonna buy our rings. Mine will cost 1K on a custom made 0.5 carat maisonette ring and i already feel like it costs way too much on just a piece of jewelry and im not even a jewelry person. We are able to afford it and i think its a good deal. but the frugal part of me feels wow 1K of apparel on me.

    In my opinion it doesn't matter if you are a billionaire, no more than 2K is good for an engagement ring.

    If you've got to buy your girl an expensive engagement ring you need dump that girl cuz you got the wrong one she would be happy with a bread wrapper twist tie if she truly loves you these broads nowadays are so materialistic and gold diggers

    If you make under 100k id keep it 5k tops. What is she giving you in return? If she hasn’t slept with 20 other men and you are truly the love of her life forever, then get her what will make her happy. But so many women who are barely even worthy of being a wife think they should have a 3ct vvs ideal cut diamond. That same girl probably blew a gang of guys who didn’t even buy her a drink.

  • @bikram3975
    @bikram3975 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    In my opinion it should not cost more than 200 dollars. If your networth is less than 3 million dollars in present day situation(combined). If it's more than that then you can spend any amount above $3 million you have. Av house costs $2 million in Toronto and$1 million in Montreal so if you are gonna spend thousands of dollars on ring rather than a mortgage then i don't know what to say. Education and child care will break your back and you will work overtime and relationship with children will suffer. Not to mention any child care fees and expenses. Then 4 years later you will probably see that ring on Facebook market place 🤣. And if you lost it u will cry.
    Bottom line don't marry a woman who asks for a expensive ring she is not a wifey material period.

      Eh, seems steep when you think about what really matters. 3 grand or less would be sufficient enough and gives you a chance to save the rest for a memorable trip.

    Cheap and poor people would say they dont need a nice ring. But honestly, when you give your wife a nice ring, she would appreciated as well as her friends, family and everyone. Dont be a cheapass

    Maybe if you millennials spent less on your Starbucks coffees and more time budgeting you could afford a real wedding ring 🤷🏽‍♀️

    • @anamonet191
      @anamonet191 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I agree, but millennials are not the only group that have a hard time budgeting and spending money on things they do not need. I’d say people need to budget better and start having better saving habits. I am a millennial and I don’t drink Starbucks. Just out of curiosity, what is a real wedding ring to you? :)
