The Batman is an upcoming American superhero film based on the DC Comics character of the same name. The film is being produced by DC Films and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, and is a reboot of the Batman film franchise. The film is directed by Matt Reeves, who wrote the screenplay with Peter Craig. It stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne / Batman, with Zoë Kravitz, Paul Dano, Jeffrey Wright, John Turturro, Peter Sarsgaard, Barry Keoghan, Jayme Lawson, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell rounding out the ensemble cast. The Batman is set during Batman's second year of fighting crime and follows him as he explores Gotham City's corruption.
After he was cast as Batman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), Ben Affleck began developing a DC Extended Universe (DCEU) Batman film with Geoff Johns, and was attached to direct, write, produce, and star. In January 2017, Affleck stepped down from directing and writing after struggling with the story and so he could focus on playing Batman. Reeves took over directorial and scripting duties the following month and reworked the story to focus on a younger Batman, hoping to emphasize the detective aspect of the character to a greater extent than previous films. Affleck stepped down from all involvment in January 2019, and Pattinson was cast the following May. The film's connections to the DCEU were subsequently eliminated. Principal photography began in London, England in January 2020 but was suspended in March due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Production is expected to resume in early September.
The Batman is scheduled to be released on October 1, 2021.

That smoky stuff around his eyes is actually tactical anti-glare eye black. All of the previous Batmans had it but this is the first film that's actually acknowledging it.
Its eye shadow. Badass eye shadow.

@Jocky Rohnson I added that word because soldiers from my country also wear them with their camouflage face paint. It's not that much of a fancy word as you might think. It literally means "relating to military tactics".

Batmans tactics was always to use fear, hence the getup and darkness. Brutally beating a single opponent demonstrates he'll do the same to them.
The movie takes place in Year 2, so he's very early in his career, so not everything is going to be how we know it.
And incredibly violent

Bruce Wayne from Batman Year Zero comic is less dark than this movie
The thing I loved about Joker film was the psychological element of the character.
And in reality Batman and Joker are from two different backgrounds, but very similar. I think this film is going to explore more of the trauma and psychological problems in Bruce Wayne's life.
Its rumored that in this adaption his Batcave is actually accessed from his parents tombs which is so freaking cool if that is true. Also the gun that killed his parents makes the batman logo on his chest. Very very cool trailer. Absolutely love it!
if u have ever seen or read the killing joke it shows how batman is basically insane like joker which is why both the characters connect so well

Yeno I seen a interview with Colin from not too long ago and fucking hell he has put on some weight, kinda happy that for the most part apart from more facial features and makeup he may be all fat for the penguin.

Robert Pattinson looks amazing as Batman
The thing I like about this is The Joker always says how alike they are and it like they both suffer mentally and are unhinged but Batman chooses to be good. That is why he does not want to kill as he sees it as the one thing that separates himself from Joker and I hope they will explore this in the movie. I'm excited!
Yeah unfortunately joker became depressed and started killing which wasn’t a surprise...as I expected it . No human can handle that amount of hate coming from people 24/7. The film broke me. They both suffer mentally but Batman is more strong minded so I guess society didn’t affect him mentally as much as joker!😭
Looks great, but one thing I will say is especially the last shot he Rob Pattinson and darkness all reminds me of Brandon Lee and The Crow!!! a classic but it certainly seems to have that VIBE!!!

You wanna see Batman have more depth? Read the comics. Read Batman: Year One, The Dark Knight Returns, Long Halloween, A Death in the Family, Hush, Court of Owls, Killing Joke.
Black Mirror as well if we're going the dark Detective route.

@@dencheq If you don't want to read then just watch the Hush , Year One, Dark Knight Returns and Killing Joke animated movies. This movie is based heavily on Hush but all of those animated movies are great. All of those are on HBO Max as well.

Even superman scared of this dark old school level BATMAN
This Batman film is based on the DC comic "The Batman and The Long Halloween" which is extremely dark and is set in Batman year 2. The Batman persona that Christian Bale portrayed is more of a complete fully realized Batman. In this film the director is keeping more in line with the original comic, whereas Batman is growing and finding his footing in his surroundings, unsure of his own morality and where it fits in the world this Bat is creating. It will be an extremely low tech approach to the Batman character when it comes to the Bat Suit, car and even a sparse Bat cave, just like the comic showed. It'll be more of a noir detective story.
