    Going to hold off on grading for a while. Card prices going down, grading prices going up. And grading getting stricter. Not a formula for success.

      If you have a valuable card, it's always good to get it graded and protected.

    The big problem with these prices and minimum submission requirements is that you're cutting out the average collector. I like to have graded cards for my own personal collection, but a lot of the cards I would like to have graded are only $2-$5 cards, and I usually only have about 5 cards that I would like to have graded, never mind 20. I'm not gonna pay $400 to get 20 $2 cards graded when I only really want 5 of them graded.
    Why not do an Express Level for people like me. Charge $10 per card, with a max declared value of $50 per card, and instead of requiring a minimum put a cap on it. Only allow people to send in 5 or 10 cards at that price, that way you won't get overwhelmed with cards.

      That’s the part that has always turned me off as a seller to getting cards graded. When I saw you need first a monthly membership, then you have to pay to get the card graded, and it depends on how much the card is worth to determine the price of grading. I have NEVER heard of getting something appraised and the appraisal cost depending on the worth of the item. That’s like saying “this home is worth $250k so the appraisal is gonna cost about $12k, and this home is worth $400k probably so the appraisal is gonna cost $20k”….. what’s the point of getting it graded for a seller? We would end up investing A BUNCH of money, just to get Pennies on the return and that’s IF it sells. I feel like everytime I look into possibly grading cards, the prices just keep going up, and like someone above said, card prices have not exactly been skyrocketing lately like they did in 2020…. I’m gonna check a few other companies, but I’m assuming it’s all the same BS

    i find it hard to sign up for the membership because $19 a card still isn't cheap and i have to send in 20??? after paying $100 for membership smh. i really want to use you guys but honestly i dont want to be sending in 20 cards at a time to submit just to get that rate. BGS charges $18 with sub grades and i only have to submit 10 cards and no membership needed. I don't take sides with grading companies but bgs seems to be the better deal so i currently use them. I really want to use PSA but I'm waiting until your prices come down a bit or at the very least the membership is more attractive.

    There are several things wrong with this, and PSA is unfairly profiting from our willingness to continue. These turnaround times are completely ridiculous. Supply and demand, PSA holds ownership of both, Not only are they going to take 2 months to grade a card, they are going to overcharge for this service. Another thing, who designates value? Why does PSA charge more for perceived value? If my $1000 Wander Franco rookie tanks overnight to $100 (Like this would ever happen....LOL) will they send me some sort of refund? PSA is nickel and diming us to death. PSA.....Pick your poison and just go with it, Stop trying to squeeze every dollar from us. $10 a card....fine, then do it in 8 weeks. $40 a card, fine do it in 2 weeks. If it's a high-value card, put a little premium on it and be done with it. Over $500, add $25, Over $1000 add $50. If the volume is too high, hire more people. The problem is, we can't all come together to boycott this nonsense.

    Grading must be subjective. None of it makes sense to me. I was at a local card show. I saw two examples of the same card, a 1910 T212 of Curtis Bernard. The PSA 4 looked more like a 1.5. The PSA 1.5 looked like a 4. It wasn’t even close . Only significant flaw of the 1.5 was a very small crease that had no cardboard showing underneath. Hard to spot without a magnifying glass. The 4 had no creases. However, there was discovering on the face of the card, and a purple stamp mark on the back. The 1.5 priced at $76. The 4 priced at $150. Crazy.

    Can someone answer this question for me? I’ve been buying psa Pokémon cards off eBay for some time now. Some more expensive than others obviously. What I don’t understand is how I am able to grab let’s say for an example, a “Radiant VENUSAUR PSA 9” for $20. The card itself sells for $12, assuming they paid at least $20 to grade the card… Wouldn’t that make the market for that card start at at least $32? I’ve bought several PSA graded Pokémon cards in the $10 range as well, which makes no sense to me at all. I guess my point is.. What is the purpose of sending in your card to be graded when it’s cheaper to buy them on eBay? Besides the obvious fact of thinking your card might get that lovely psa 10. If it doesn’t get the 10, it’s an automatic loss in most cases it seems like.

    • @Aeodon
      @Aeodon ปีที่แล้ว +2

      modern cards like that vensaur you are talking about are coming from people looking to make a quick buck, or they are new to the hobby, a lot of people submit everything/crap cards/ no value cards as well thinking, everything they have is gold, they are risking it for a 10, psa 10 when cards are first released, dumb rich people pay for it just to have the first graded 10s out there, with modern cards, nobody wants to buy a 9 most of the time if the card isnt the 100-200$ prize card of the set, so its hard to get rid of a psa 9, therefore resulting in that low price that people start dropping lower and lower until it sells, why buy a psa 9 when you can open your own pack where already to begin with, the rate of pulling that vensaur is already quite common, when you can try to get your own for a 10, as well as you are already opening a current set you were going to open in the first place, ( i dont really buy modern graded cards unless the psa graded 9/10 is close to the raw value). it doesnt help that people like leonhart and other younger collectors value all their cards off of psa value when they dont consider that their cards arent worth psa 10 value unless its actually graded 10. most people wont pay for a raw card even if it looks nice, for the value of an actual graded 10 since youd be risking it. unless it is clear very very clear that it would get a possible 10

If i send in a card that I think is worth an 8 or 9 for it to come back a 5 or 6 with no description why, then i can't accurately decide whether to send another card in if there's potential for it to be a loss. might as well just use a random number generator to grade my cards for all i know.

    Depending on the card, the difference between an 8 and 10 grading can be upwards of $20K or more. So how do you pick a "declared value" ahead of time without knowing how the care will be graded? And how does that factor into the pricing? I'm not a collector and I have a legacy collection that I've had since I was a kid that I want to get graded but I'm not even sure where to start because the value of the card can be hundreds or thousands depending on the card. So, I'm not even sure what plan is right for me. The pricing doesn't make any sense to me.

    That didn't tell me anything I wanted to know. I still Don't know what it would cost me to have a card graded. What do you mean by declared value? For instance if I had a card like maybe a. Galactus card. it looks like if It were graded a PSA 10 Which I wouldn't know until after it was graded. It might be worth $2000. But if it's graded PSA 5 It isn't worth near that much. So if I sent in a galactus card and declared it to be, I've already done a card. What would I pay, and what if it grades a 10. It sounds like there's no way.I could afford to have a card graded to me. Or is it just a certain amount of money for any card?If I wanted to have, say three cards graded, what would it cost me? I listened to what you said, but none of it made any sense to me whatsoever.I still have no clue.How much would it cost to get a card graded.

    Can a PSA card grade drop over time? Can a old PSA 7 continue to fade in the slab and be reduced to a PSA 6? I noticed a PSA 7 w a little fade in the corner. I noticed other PSA 7s looked better. I'm afraid the card will continue to fade because it's so old and then I won't be able to sell it for psa7 prices. Has this been known to happen at all?

    How do you know what cards to send to get graded? My husband use to work at a packaging warehouse over 30 years ago where they packaged all kinds of baseball, football and other kinds of cards, so he use to buy TONS TONS of cards and we just recently found a lot of them in our storage unit. Is there a site where I can check if they're worth anything?

    Explain the damage PSA has been inflicting on customer cards during the grading process. Specifically damage to the top right back corner. Have seen multiple videos about this now and PSA aren’t addressing it at all.

      That’s my thought. It’s idiotic. The whole reason we’re sending cards in is SO THEY CAN TELL US WHAT THEY’RE WORTH. It’s so dumb, we have to jump through 100 hoops and do all the leg work for them to do a little

    More scammy BS from PSA. You guys are LIVING OFF of upcharges at this point. You have also given up on ANY consistency in your grading. And your turnaround times are a flatout LIE. 65 business days for a 20 card submission? YEAH RIGHT! Everyone knows they won't see their cards in less than 6 to 8 months.....So glad that SGC is taking your market space more and more each month.

    Slightly worried that prices are going down with no other reason but for introducing new people into grading cards. That doesn't make much sense from a business standpoint because PSA was drowning in cards, even mentioned in the video too, so why would they need more customers? Methinks with my marketing degree that they adjusted their model during the boom, and now they don't want to change it, so they need the card volume again. And what scares me as a consumer, is that there was no doubt the quality of the grades went down during the big card boom because of inexperienced, new, on-boarded, graders. So a little transparency on why everything is cheaper now would be nice. PSA isn't Jesus Christ showering us in cheaper prices because they wanted to, it's a business and there's factual reasons for everything. I would like my skepticisms addressed or see the grading process for each kind of popular trading card currently and my bologna radar will stop beeping as fast.

    • @paulallenscards
      @paulallenscards ปีที่แล้ว

      They’re not in the business of limiting the number of freeflowing cards in circulation. Collectors getting new boxes graded outright would have a serious, negative effect on PSA’s single-card grading inflow.

    • @tyman91tp
      @tyman91tp ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@paulallenscards people collect boxes and keep them sealed all the time. They get stuck in display cases for years. This would just be a better display case with a grade.

  • @Laura-gj5sj

    Card grading for the collectors is becoming useless because the card companies are putting out too many graded and 1 of 1 cards at mint 10 grading .
    The only ones making money here is the Grading Co.
    The collectors are getting low grading and paying more.
    I have collected cards since 1977 .
    The card companies cut fresh card of an old card with a 10 mint grading and makes the old card ( vintage) worth less.
    Just my point of view

  • @clarkprice222
    @clarkprice222 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Horrible move. Collectors club members should have a $199 bulk option and lower minimums. Value plus should be $999 so a person can't get upcharged from $19 to $75. Upcharge should at $40 if price moves over $199.

    Your still way to expensive and your turn around is 3 months to long🤨 I submitted 11 cards to (PSA) and the coast was $279. Then I said wait let me check out other grading companies. I submitted the same 11 cards to ISA, GMA, SGC all three were right around $130 to $150 range for all 11 cards, and the turn around was 3 weeks at most. PSA IS OVER RATED!!! Here is another bad interaction I had with them. My first card I ever graded with PSA. Sent it in, 4 months later got it back as a grade PSA 5! There was no way that it was a PSA5 so I cracked it and sent it back to PSA again.(did nothing to the card) Get this 3 months later it came back as a PSA 9! I would not have believed it if it didn't happen to me. Like I said OVER RATED!
