2013 BMW 328i xdrive. Car overheats, goes into limp mode. Error code: CD9010 Solved by replacing a bad ground wire that goes from water pump connector to the cylinder head.
You saved me from getting a water pump. All I did was clean the ground cable on the front of the motor and mounted it straight to the block and not on the cable mount. Been driving fine with no code for 2 weeks.
You saved me ! I was about to order a new auxiliary coolant pump for air charge , for my x6M e71. Ista is throwing LIN pump missing too ! So i will check the wires ! Thanks for the video
Bro..... Thank you. saved me so much money. i went under the car, touched the grounding wire. turns out it was sheered and the wire wasnt grounded anymore. saved me 500 dollars
I have the same issue in my F32 2016, (drain my baterry) the codes are CD8E10 LIN data bus Communications and DC9010 LIN communication (electric coolant pump) Missing, fortunately I just saw your video (almost bought a new water pump), In the begining I thought that the ground next to the engine number not looks like, I removed and cleaned but my issue still continue, Today I´m goint to review the continuity of the white wire, I hope solve my issue.
Hi! I have the same problem with my f30, the thick brown wire has no voltage, should I check specifically the ground on the engine or what do yo suggest? Wiring looks good
Can you help me please. I have a f30 2013 bmw 2.0 the display on the screen shows HIGH TEMPERATURE but the temperature meter show 110 degree. My technician said the coolant motor has failed. Please advice. Btw do you know where the coolant pump fuse is located. Thanks a lot
Just so everyone knows..... Including Iconicars...... No, it is not AWLAYS a wire/ground issue. There are times that this connection fails internally inside the pump and the fix is to replace the pump. I definitely recommend doing all the checks this video discusses first..... but if you still have the problem, the pump is likely going to need to be replaced. So the verbiage of ALWAYS is a bit exaggerated.....
Yes, I get that. Does not change the fact that stating it is ALWAYS the wiring is a false and misleading statement. Which was my point. I think your stats are a bit exaggerated, but, yes, it is more often than not a wire issue. BMW service adviser/tech 17 years. ;-) @@iconicars3050

Hi I have a f34 n20, 328 i 2015, it was not starting and when i checked for spark there is no spark so I check and it has the water pump module code, so was that your or anyone experience that the car would not start? Thank you
I had the same fault code, I checked all the wires with a multimeter... All wires were good, power was reading 12V supply on the red cable relative to ground, earth was grounded, two canbus cables to the ECU had continuity.... It must be the pump 😂
Thick ground wire from The waterpump connector to the cylinder head. It gets grounded at front of the cylinder head with an allen key bolt. That bolt is also too long i replace it with a shorter one because it bottoms out and the ground wire is lose even when you tighten it all the way till it stops.
@@iconicars3050 Thank you. For me this pump sometimes works, sometimes it doesn’t. I understood and saw this wire in the middle of the block, but then I didn’t understand which part of the wire you changed, it seems to go down to the pump and up in the corrugation.
@@Petru44o80 yes exactly the same, pump sometimes worked sometimes not. Clean cylinder head with sand paper where the ground wire attaches to the head. You might not even have to replace the wire, just clean the surface and use a shorter bolt.
@@iconicars3050 The service center unscrewed this bolt for me, cleaned everything and screwed it back on, checked the wires with a tester, but did not check for voltage. They said that everything was fine with the wires, that the pump was faulty and needed to be changed. That's how things are.
Hello, I have the exact same Problem with my F30 328i 2013 and we cant solve it. We controlled the wires all along and they are on 11.70 volt. We changed the pump to be sure twice and still the error and check engine light is there. But if we try to vent the system it starts and works the pump himself. Can you help us and have an idea??? Thanks
@@ardianbuzhala yes it was in the end a loose screw nut at the end of the ground cable on the engine. Tightened the nut and it ran again without any problems
@@lucapino9837 yes I extended it and put tightened it to the body bear the headlight. But check continuity on that connector ground wire first make sure its not broken inside under the housing. Most people just throw the pump at it first thing thats why this video is about wiring. 1 in 10 cars will be the pump, bmw tech 15 years.
