What can I say Don. Your videos are second to none. Excellent technical background, simple straight forward instructions for the average Joe, and the best camera work on youtube or any instructional videos I've ever seen.
I just have to watch them all.
Keep up the top notch service, it's so well done.
    Thanks again Don.

Excellent videos - best on the internet (and TH-cam). I have a HS50 that I am buying a new coil for (Amazon), hoping to get a spark (carb has been disassembled and cleaned; head removed and valves lapped; points and condenser replaced). I hope the new coil will do the job - do you have a video on how to check the coil? Tnx.

I really appreciate all your videos. I have an old Ariens Snowblower with a 33290 starter that I think is not working properly. When I took it off part of the aluminum flywheel teeth are chewed up. Last 2 winters I had an issue where the starter gear was stuck and I had to turn the flywheel to release it. Wish I knew how to repair the starter....it seems to stick on the gear.

I just had one of those come through my shop with a frozen butterfly valve from old dried up gas. What was weird is it still worked just at WOT at all times.

I have a Tecumseh 143.744012 and am trying my best to get it running properly. Is there a way to set the air gap on it? I replaced the old coil and that involved removing the magneto. Did not mark before, so I'm worried the gap is not right. Also, would a bad condenser make it run only in 1/2 choke and stall out when moved to no choke? By the way, your videos are AMAZING!!! Could not have done any of this without you. Thank you!!

Have you ever had to fix the stator plates on these type of magnetos. I have a 5 hp that the plates are fanned apart. It seems to misfire a lot. I've already replaced the coil, condenser, points. and did a valve job and piston rings. I can't figure out why this thing won't run. Thanks for any help.

Is it normal for the spark to fail if points and Condenser are bad or is it the coil? I will of course test the Condenser but my thought is the coil has failed on this older Ariens Snow blower. It started running bad last year, I honestly thought it was the carburetor. After replacing that, nothing improved. It still ran at reduced power. I never considered the points and Condenser were failing. Its been a while since I even worked on an engine with them.

Hey I got a tecumesh engine like this one for free. The carb is almost new, I cleaned it. I tried with 2 different plugs all cleaned up, checked the points. Removed the dead wire for stopping the engine. It still doesn't work, even with a pull with the choke, followed by 4-5 pulls without choke. I also replaced the old gunky oil with new one after cleaning it with solvent. Any ideas?

hi donyboy, I watched this several times trying to see where you timed the engine , but I never saw it. I saw the point but not how to set the coil with the 2 bolts. How do you set the coil if it was removed without any marks being put on the posts to show where it was?

Hi. I broke the aluminum flywheel on an old Tech. FLYMO. I can't get it off. Do u know where I can get another 1?

A true story: One of my customers brought his walk-behind rotary lawn mower with a 3.5hp Tecumseh engine (model LAV35) to me just to have the flywheel removed. When I had the mower on my work table to remove the flywheel, I noticed that the flywheel was wobbly but still tight on the crankshaft, then I found the crankshaft was broken in two at the connecting rod journal. I thought this was odd , so I called my customer to tell him about this, and he said his neighbor tried to "pop" the flywheel off [by hitting the threaded end of the crankshaft] with the mower on the ground standing with a 10 lb. sledge hammer!

What would cause my tecumseh 5 horse to vibrate a lot? It is mounted on an ariens snowblower

Hello, I wanted to know if you knew where to get a couple of things for the 7hp older tecumseh (on a 70's ariens). I'm looking for the bolt for the assembly that the cover with the starter attaches to. It's the bolt next to the bolt that keeps the magneto attached, it's in the first few seconds of the video. Do you know where to source this bolt? In addition I'm looking for a bolt to attach the gas tank. One of the clips was missing one when I received the blower and would like to resolve that. Thanks in advance!!
