The way Dooku talks to Grievous in Battlefront 2 is like a teacher, it actually seems like he does like him even if that does not actually seem to be a case.
I’ve always liked this interpretation, like the only Sith apprentice that never failed him was also the only one who couldn’t touch the force. Grievous is like the antithesis of Dooku however
There was a book around ‘06 I read that Dooku arranged for Grievous’ ship to get shot down. From the wreckage the Seps got what remained of his body which was just the organs he had as a cyborg and put them in his new body. Once he awoke he asked what happened. Dooku informed Grievous that the Jedi tried to assassinate him and almost succeeded if it wasn’t for Dooku saving him. And then offered him a chance to train to kill Jedi as part of a revenge.
The part about teaching Grevious to restrain himself is a good point. While unmitigated rage can be a powerful weapon to overwhelm an opponent, it also increases the likelihood of mistakes and opens up the users defenses. Learn patience, take the time to get your opponent into a weakened position without them necessarily realizing it, then at the opportune moment unleash that rage. Dooku was wise to teach Grevious this. And if Dooku ever needed to take him one and one, to put it simply he'd know how to uno reverse him.
Dooku grew terrified of Grievous because everyone in the StupendousWaveVerse simultaneously loves, hates, and is terrified by everyone and everything else, often to the point of requiring all caps. As a quick browse of the channel's video titles will reveal.
I always found it odd how everything Dooku despises about Grievous is also personally Dooku's doing. He hates cyborgs, yet is the reason Grievous is one. Hates how Grievous fights with more than one blade, yet intentionally trains apprentices to use more than one weapon(Savage's case being a saber staff). Hates non humans, but again keeps training apprentices who aren't human. Maybe he did it so that if something happens to them or he has to kill them that he wouldn't be too upset about it. But it just seems like a weird quirk for him to have.
Knowing Legends Grievous it’s understandable why Dooku thinks this way. The only Jedi who outright beat Grievous in The Clone Wars was Mace since he did it twice and the two are equally matched.
Ok, so that's a completely opposite of what I've known.... I've always thought Mace was afraid of fighting grievous because he didn't want Grievous learning his form of vaapad.... Grievous was programed to identify and mimic styles and I could have sworn Mace feared the dark side learning and exploiting his personalized form.
Sometimes you need a hammer rather than a scalpel and vice versa every occasion requires a specific tool for the job or rather one that’s good enough to get the job done the best is the enemy of good enough
Dooku's opinion on Grevious has a lot of merits to consider as for the droid general he'd rather end things as quickly as he possibly could, it was entirely a function over form way to dual with light saber combat in all honesty he's the zenith of what HK-47 said about killing Jedi with overwhelming numbers, and someone as dedicated to lightsaber combat couldn't be satisfied with Grevious' approach.
Or maybe he's a purist (more than an elitist) and values the fine art and craft of lightsaber combat and sees it being reduced to more brutish and unrefined styles.
I mean with a mech body he has strength advantage over most people, 4 blade, even without technique and style would be hell to deal with in the first place, plus Dooku's teachings its not a suprise that 1 or 2 sword lost to 4
Dooku is a hypocrite in many ways, especially with lightsaber combat. There's a reason why there are multiple Forms (styles) with which to wield a lightsaber, not just one. Not just Dooku's favored style of Form II aka Makashi. Combat comes in many forms and styles with different approaches, strengths, and weaknesses. There's no one way to fight becuz no single way works for everyone. Different ways, means, methods, styles, are designed to work for a given situation or problem. That's why From II / Makashi was designed specifically for lightsaber-to-lightsaber combat, and the other Forms had their specific aims and methods that made them best for different/specific challenges, foe,s problems, enemies, etc. In addition, Dooku's style works for him but it duzent always work for everyone else. That's why some, like Ventress and even Grievous used multiple sabers, some like Maul, Savage, and the Temple Guards, used saber-staffs, and some, like Ezra for a time, were more unconventional with his saber/blaster hybrid weapon What's more, Dooku is further biased towards people with cybernetic limbs, since he's the one who took Anakin's arm from him in their first clash (on instruction from Sidious maybe) but Anakin favored both one- and two-handed saber combat, the former for speedy attacks and evasion, and the latter for strength attacks and defense Sometimes, lightsaber combatants need to adapt and evolve, moving on from something that duzent work anymore or won't work in a speicifc situation or against a specific foe Yea, Dooku's style is about grace, finesse, skill, but it's not the _only_ style. He is a duelist but even he knows that not every foe is a duelist or even an opponent that will give a fair fight instead of resorting to dirty tricks. Grievous most certainly not a fair foe and used dirty tricks too, like whne he used a blaster to kill Nadhar Vebb instead while he had him blade-locked Grievous was designed to be a Jedi-killing monster, and he did his job well. He was also meant to be the face of the Separatist military forces that terrorized many worlds, and then eventually the fall-guy (as Dooku was misled to believe by Sidious). He was not meant to be a "honorable" or "worthy" student in the styles of lightsaber combat. He was meant to be a villain as Anakin was portrayed as the hero.
Imagine Dooku, Ventress, and Grevous team up to take on and overthrow Palpatine. I can imagine Dooku and Ventress taking him on as Grevous sneaks in around back and joins in mis battle.
If that's so, then Dooku might have actually enjoyed watching Obi-Wan methodically dismantle Grievous with sheer perfection of form....until he was forced to blast the shit out of him with a rifle. Personally, my favorite was Kit Fisto's use of Form I Shii Cho. In that we got a match of The Force vs Machine AI. Fisto's sabers completely guided by the force overwhelmed even the advanced combat computer centers of Grievous' brain, making it impossible to copy or adapt to Kit's style. The result was a very one-sided victory for Fisto. I found him quite a bit more effective against Grievous than Kenobi.
I understand Dooku. No finesse, elegance at all in Grievous. He was anima, like you said monstrosity. Like Kano in Mortal Kombat. No manners, elegance, animalistic. That way. Fighting with one lightsaber is artistry. Especially when Dooku wields it. May the Force be with you always too😀Have a great day too!😀
That Is a stupid thing to hate the use of multiple lightsabers more chances to inflict a wound and more woundS if I recall I can use sideous as an example of such
Its 6AM and the fact Grievous and Dooku never shared a scene on the big screen kills me 😢😢 (OG clone wars was cool though, that only engage them when their mental strength is broken first speech)
0:30 I didn't know that Dooku was a time traveler. Not sure how he was able to hate the half machine Anakin given that he'd killed him *well* before Obi-Wan lobbed his limbs off.
The quotations were repeated too much. There was a variety of interesting stills. In the future, this content could be organized with a timeline and chronology.
Lmao, Grievous was just built different. Learned well and then started scaring his master 😅 easy credits folks, easy work. Also, Dooku hating cybernetics is... interesting. I mean, why? Sure, the ones with more machine than man may seem odd, but a single arm, like in Anakin's case? Why the hate?
I think he saw it as weakness, a crutch. ie Anakin should have learned to duel with his left hand only like a "real" master of the blade. Getting a cybernetic hand was the easy way out.
I must be the only one who thought all this hype and research into grievous, was stupid. He’s an absolutely stupid character. No reason why anyone should be afraid of him.

Grievous literally killed dozens of Jedi, a feat few can claim to have accomplished. No, Dooku was not exaggerating.

Why Emperor Palpatine FEARED R2D2
Why Yoda FEARED Captain Panaka after The Phantom Menace 💀
Why random slave kid #4 became TERRIFIED of Jar Jar Binks in Episode 1 The Phantom Menace
Grievous was the only student to outlive his master.

I think dooku's view on perfecting one bladed styles is correct, primarily due to the fact in ROTS the sloppy hand work that led to his retreat.
I really can't believe that Dooku actually considered him one of his greatest students
Why?
If only we got the version of Grievous that was crazy powerful in ROTS.
Sometimes you need a hammer rather than a scalpel and vice versa every occasion requires a specific tool for the job or rather one that’s good enough to get the job done the best is the enemy of good enough
Anakin only had one robotic arm before he became Darth Vader. So he was only about 95% flesh and 5% robot.

Can you please rank the most powerful users in the Force, as in contrast to your video best Lightsaber users?
I think Count Dooku while tremendously talented and skilled in many aspects is still a smug jerk who looks down on literally everybody.
Cue the "signature look of superiority" meme.
Or maybe he's a purist (more than an elitist) and values the fine art and craft of lightsaber combat and sees it being reduced to more brutish and unrefined styles.

“You must break them before you engage them. Only then can you claim victory and have your trophy.”
Grievous was almost unstoppable in Lightsaber combat. If he had the element of surprise, he would have won against Kenobi.

It'd say he was more wary of Grievous than terrified, but with good reason all the same.

In developing grievous into a Jedi killer he betrayed his ideals
