- Well, isn’t this just the fucking coolest thing you’ve ever heard/seen? Man, these guys are borderline inhumane to their instruments. Absolute savagery up and down the block blended with a truly original creative vision equals something truly wonderous. And I haven’t even heard all of it yet! Crazy!

All donations and tips that come from you, go into my daughters college fund and a fund for channel equipment. I created this channel for her so she has videos of her father talking and doing something he enjoys(listening to music and talking about it) since I don’t have any of those of my father. I decided that all funds that might come from this will go to her as well :) thank you again for your generosity guys, I appreciate you all more then you will ever know.
Your name will be added to the Thank you supporters’ video that plays at the end of every video and you get to pick a video for me to react to. Thank you so much!! If you donate and pick a song, I will get to it in under 24 hours!

#Rush #2112 - เพลง
Everyone at a RUSH concert were friends. All 20-70 thousand of us. Never met a RUSH fan I didn't like. I was a fan before RUSH was cool and proud of it.
Been a fan since 1980 could not understand why back in the day no one understood rush we were rush geeks
Attention All Planets Of The Solar Federation..7 words repeated 3 times...We Have Assumed Control...4 words repeated 3 times...7x3=21...4x3=12...2112! Neil Peart is a genius!
This is actually all one song that was one side of the album. Progressive Rock is like classical music in having different movements and tempo changes. The first part overture has aspects of classical 1812 overture and this album came out in 1976. The other side of the album had a number of shorter songs.
This opus was a finger to their record company who didn't like their previous album because it was too Progressive and experimental.
The label wanted shorter more radio friendly cookie cutter songs. This was their answer, Rush kept their integrity and created what they wanted to create. 2112
was a huge success with the fans and the record label never bothered them again. Rush assumed control over their creative output.
I think Cygnus Book1 and Cygnus Book 2 (Hemispheres) would be cool to do next.
They are two different songs but they go together to tell the full story. Lyric video for sure.
Have a great day!!

What my Rush sister said.
RUSH ON EH!!!
@@davidkneitel1840 You betcha Rush brother! 🇨🇦
Thank you for all the info Debbie! This is amazing. I’m so glad y’all recommended this to me. I will definitely check out Cygnus 1 and 2. I’m a rushhead already 😂😂🤘

One heart for them each.

“Listen to my music and hear what it can do, there’s something here as strong as life, I know that it will reach you.”
You’re goddamn right.🔥🤘🏻
Absolutely 🤘🤘🤘
Music.....Lifeblood
I’ve followed Rush since 74 when I was 12, this band spoke too me an soooo many Rush fans in ways that are indescribable
Love this band!!
Most underrated guitarist ever!!!
Brisk. I’ve always been torn about the graphic novel. I spent 25 years listening to this music, before the graphics came out. I had my own perception of the visual based on the music. I think is was done amazingly well, but I also find my own imaginings something I hold dear. The music is so good.
I can see what your saying. You had your own idea of it for years then bam theirs a comic of it with a whole different imagination behind it. That’s awesome you still dig it though! What a track. What a JOURNEY lol
I totally get this. This was the first Rush album that I bought. I was 12. To this day I can vividly remember going to the mall, buying the album and studying the inside sleeve on the bus ride home. Then, smoking a spliff (yes I was smoking weed at 12) and hiding in my room for hours listening to this masterpiece and imagining what was going on, painting my own image of the story. I would finally get to see them live on September 2, 1979 at Varsity Stadium in Toronto. My first concert ever. It was the Permanent Waves warmup tour. Not only did they perform this whole song, they also introduced us to several songs off of Permanent Waves that came out a few months later. My friends were super envious of me. lol
Epic masterpiece. 1, 7 part song, side 1 of the record. Side 2 contained 5 songs. A Passage to Bangkok, The Twilight Zone, Lessons, Tears, and Something For Nothing.
You pronounced Geddy correctly. His given name is Gary Lee Weinreb. The way his Polish grandmother with a thick accent said his name , sounded like Geddy. The name stuck. Btw , if you didn't know, both of Geddy's parents are WW II Auschwitz concentration camp survivors.
That’s crazy about his family… terrible. I’m glad he was able to channel whatever tragedy and pain he felt from that into this amazing band. And this song…. Just wow. I will definitely check out side b for the rest. I want more 🥲🤘
Alex's solo during Soliloquy is one of my favorite solos of all time. The tone, the phrasing, all of it. Makes the hair on the back of neck stand up.
Rush hit it out of the park with this one. It started a streak of five albums that were each not only brilliant, but different and innovative from each other. This piece has become a rock/prog classic. It flows at a brisk pace and it doesn't seem 20 minutes long. All the components complement each other, it follows classical music conventions, and (most importantly) it is filled with passion from beginning to end.
You can feel the passion and urgency just pulsating through the entire song. It’s almost palpable. I was totally engrossed start to finish. These guys are awesome 👏
Just think 2112 was made in 1977 I love Geddys voice on this album, all the different range points ! Yes there are more songs on 2112.
1976
The story of this album is incredible. I will "briskly" note it. The label said no more concept albums after they released Caress of Steel that underperformed. They left and said if we go down, lets go down for us and created 2112 with one side bing this rock opera while the other side was more traditional (if rush can ever be called traditional). The studio was furious but released it and it was a huge success. After this the band was free to do whatever they wanted which is why you see them shift their style to fit what they were into at the time over the years. This is my favorite song by the most talented band in history.
That is such a cool story. It really is. These guys took a chance and it paid in spades. What a legend!
that was side 1. I saw this live at the Forum in LA in 1977; still the best ever.
Dude I cannot imagine seeing them perform this when it first came out. It must have blew the heads off of everyone in the crowd 😂😂😂
@@L33Reacts to this day, I still get chills when I hear: we have assumed control, we have assumed control, we have assumed control. In later concerts they would play parts of 2112, but seeing the whole thing performed, well like i said, still my favorite concert experience. That's some 400+ concerts later.
Since you mentioned about computers taking over I would extremely suggest the song. Natural Science, The Studio version and get ready for a ride , get the lyrics ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Studio version and the the live... Best Song ever
@@massimilianoceron5961 I just suggested the studio version because of the lyrics, He is into the lyrics, But for sure the live version is freaking amazing
I don’t often say this but the studio version of Natural Science is much better then the live. Always start with the studio version.
So gorgeously ahead of its time, right???
L33, yeah, 2112-suite is on side one of the album and there are 5 more songs on side two, all great! You may know the story with 2112 by now, how they got a "last chance" by their Record Company to put out a more radio-friendly album (they were told to sound like Bad Company or Bachman Turner Overdrive) or they would lose their contract. The guys from Rush said fuck that and they put out an album, 2112, that is a most potent MIDDLE FINGER to the "Priest"/Record Executives! Rush was ready to lose their career in music if it meant having to compromise their goals/values/muse. And the rest is history; 2112 took off in album sales, earning Gold record status (500,000 units sold) by November 1977, and their popularity blew up (they were still a "Cult" band, but their was a great buzz about the band. Musicians around the world took notice!). It basically earned Rush their freedom from interfering executives, trying to control their music. Keep going on the rest of the album if you want! There's so much more to discover, good brother! By the way, I'm a drummer too. Neil was my first big influence, after Ringo Starr.
Thank you so much for the backstory Michael! It was so much to take in and I probably need to listen a couple more times to pick up on everything that was happening lol. But I totally dig this. It’s awesome 😎 I see why this saved their career!
That’s awesome you drum too! I really miss my kit and need to get one whenever I find somewhere to live lol
@@L33Reacts I miss my kit too! My $ situation is improving, of late, so I am starting to dream of a reunion with my love of drumming, hopefully within the next year!
Serious musicians.... MAESTROS! When rock music was a serious craft and undertaking!
This was my first concert ever. It was 1976 and I was 8. My brother intended to take his girlfriend but my parents informed him, that day, that he had to watch me for the night. They went out of town and I went to my first concert. It is my earliest vivid memory. I remember the songs, the smells and the robes that Rush was wearing. I was hooked on Rush ever since.
Here's another little Easter egg: 2112 is 9:12 PM in 24 hour format, and 9-12 (September 12) was Neil's birthday. And as mentioned above, I think you'll really like Cygnus X-1 Book 1 (A Farewell To Kings) and Book 2 (Hemispheres). Cheers from Canada! 🇨🇦
🎤 🎹 🎸 🥁 🎸 🔥 🔥 🔥
Oh wow that is cool!! I love when bands do stuff like that and if you figure it out it makes the album just a tad better :) I will check it out thank you so much

Also at the end
Attention all Planets of the Solar Federation...X3 7 words X3=21
We have Assumed Control 4 words X3= 12
2112 !
Watch some interviews with them. Nicest guys you could meet. Totally humble.
I can tell from there music and performances alone that they are good lads. I will definitely check out some interviews thank you 🙏
I love watching these reactions to 2112 as I learn something new each video. Loved your comment, “Ask and ye shall receive.” Insightful and Brisk.
There's a run of four Rush albums I listen to over and over - this is the start of that run, and I move briskly on to A Farewell to Kings, Hemispheres, and Permanent Waves. This is not to diss their other albums (which I put on now and then), but it is the core of my Rush fandom. I love that this is such a huge f* you to the record execs, and that after this did so well commercially they could really say "we have assumed control"...
So many people dismiss side 2 because it doesn't continue the story but those songs are fantastic as well. Ps - the last 30 seconds of Different Strings by Alex is so emotional that I wish it continued another 5+ min. Tell me I'm wrong - Peace
I’ll give side 2 a listen for sure! That’s so cool they had “sides” back then. They don’t have it no more lol
Phenomenal ❤ A masterpiece that'll last forever!
I love this song so much! Instrumental bliss, discovery is a well written love song to the guitar, Geddy's vocals are amazing.
After the disappointing sales of Caress of Steel, the record label demanded short, radio friendly songs from Rush. They gave them an ultimatum. Rush responded with a 21 minute masterpiece in 7 parts. They decided if they were gonna go out, they were gonna do it their way by playing music they were proud of. The fans loved it and sales skyrocketed (despite no radio play), and Rush won their creative freedom for the rest of their career.
That is an inspirational story if I have ever heard one… wow. They said guess what? Here’s your radio. 😂
And in retrospect Caress of Steel really is a great album, without Fountains of Lamneth and The Necromancer there is no 2112. 😊
I BRISKly pressed like for this reaction.
Attention all planets of the solar federation. 7 words said 3 times. We have assumed control. 4 words said 3 times. 7×3=21, 4×3 =12, 2112. 😊
Hahaha that’s awesome! I didn’t catch that at all.
@@L33Reacts Neil didnt do anything randomly when writing lyrics he often used little Easter eggs like that when crafting his songs.
Everyday is a good day for 2112. Gets the ball rolling that is for sure. :)
The other side is also worth a listen.
I listened to it this morning too! It was even better the second time haha
What an absolute masterpiece
Rush was the ultimate band for nerdy people. People who like larping and dungeons and dragons love Rush. Back in the 1980s, it was their musicianship that caught my ear. Their concerts were intense sausage parties unlike Motley Crue, Def Leppard, etc.. where women in fishnet stockings were vying for backstage passes. Back then, I was lucky, my girlfriend and future wife loved Rush. Years later, we divorced and now she's a country fan, go figure.
Here's the basic story behind 2112. Their management wanted them to do radio friendly songs. This was a protest. They said we're not doing this for you.
We're doing it for us. So they made the first half of the record all one song (kinda) and gave them the finger and created this MASTERPIECE😎 This is the story of that battle.
Neil Peart wrote all of the lyrics to Rush music. We lost our GOAT. He's playing for GOD now.😇 That was the last time I cried (Sorry Christine. When Stevie goes I'm going to lose it) 😭
I'm jealous because you have the cool earphones like I had with my old turntable in the day. Now all I have is my little computer speaker. This version is cool with graphics telling the story, in 1976s we were hit with both barrels with this, and only our imagination.
" Listen to my music".
"Hear what it can do".
"Tere's something here as strong as life".
"I know it will reach you."
They can play anything, including "brisk" songs. Happy 4/20+
Thank you so much for making the GOAT enjoyable again.😎
😃 Waiting for this! 😍 Thank You! ☺🥰🐰
Glad you enjoyed!! Thanks for watching 🙏🙏🙏
Brisk and great reaction video! Keep up the good work!
Thank you my friend! I deeply appreciate it. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
I still remember the place, the friend, and the day I first Heard This in 76' Instantly became my favorite Band. Then a couple years later another friend went to California on Vacation and came back with Van Halen 1 before they broke Nationally
TWENTYONE-TWELVE. like the year 2112. Great reaction. Thanks.
Thanks Gary! 🙏🤘
Wonderful reaction! Instant follow.
Welcome aboard bro! Glad to have you. It's a wonderful album so it deserves at least a great reaction 😁
Here’s to your ‘brisk’ review. Just getting caught up with some of your older reacts. Great stuff as always!!
Epic Masterpiece!!!!! ♥♥🎶🎶
It really is! I was totally engrossed start to finish and wanted more at the end. That’s the sign of a real awesome song 😎😎😎
And the meek shall inherit the earth
We've taken care of everything
The words you read
The songs you sing
The pictures that give pleasure
To your eye
It's one for all and all for one
We work together
Common sons
Never need to wonder
How or why
We are the Priests
Of the Temples of Syrinx
Our great computers
Fill the hallowed halls
We are the Priests
Of the Temples of Syrinx
All the gifts of life
Are held within our walls
Look around this world we made
Equality
Our stock in trade
Come and join the Brotherhood
Of man
Oh what a nice contented world!
Let the banners
Be unfurled!
Hold the Red Star proudly
High in hand!
We are the Priests
Of the Temples of Syrinx
Our great computers
Fill the hallowed halls
We are the Priests
Of the Temples of Syrinx
All the gifts of life
Are held within our walls
What can this strange device be?
When I touch it, it gives forth a sound
It's got wires that vibrate, and give music
What can this thing be that I found?
See how it sings like a sad heart
And joyously screams out its pain!
Sounds that build high like a mountain
Or notes that fall gently, like rain
I can't wait to share this new wonder
The people will all see its light
Let them all make their own music!
The Priests praise my name on this night
I know it's most unusual
To come before you so
But I've found an ancient miracle
I thought that you should know
Listen to my music
And hear what it can do!
There's something here that's as strong as life
I know that it will reach you
Yes, we know
It's nothing new
It's just a waste of time
We have no need for ancient ways
Our world is doing fine
Another toy
That helped destroy
The elder race of man
Forget about your silly whim!
It doesn't fit the plan
No!
I can't believe you're saying
These things just can't be true
Our world could use this beauty
Just think what we might do!
Listen to my music
And hear what it can do
There's something here that's as strong as life
I know that it will reach you
Don't annoy us further!
Oh, we have our work to do
Just think about the average
What use have they for you?
Another toy
That helped destroy
The elder race of man
Forget about your silly whim
It doesn't fit the plan!
I wandered home though the silent streets
And fell into a fitful sleep
Escape to realms beyond the night
Dream - can't you show me the light?
I stand atop a spiral stair
An oracle confronts me there
He leads me on, light years away
Through astral nights, galactic days
I see the works of gifted hands
That grace this strange and wondrous land
I see the hand of man arise
With hungry mind and open eyes
They left the planet long ago
The elder race still learn and grow
Their power grows with purpose strong
To claim the home where they belong
Home to tear the Temples down!
Home to change!
The sleep is still in my eyes
The dream is still in my head
I heave a sigh, and sadly smile
And lie a while in bed
I wish that it might come to pass
Not fade like all my dreams
Just think of what my life might be
In a world like I have seen!
I don't think I can carry on
Carry on this cold and empty life
Oh no!
My spirits are low, in the depths of despair
My lifeblood
Spills over
Attention all Planets of the Solar Federation!
Attention all Planets of the Solar Federation!
Attention all Planets of the Solar Federation!
We have assumed control
We have assumed control
We have assumed control
The album 2112 was made in 1976. It's about the year 2112 when computers and the high priests who use them to manipulate humanity and make all the choices for the people. Discovery is about discovering a guitar and what joy it brought, since music have been banned long ago
This was the 1st album that I played in my car in high school. Those were halcyon days!
Geddy's voice just RIPS on this album!!
13:44 . You mention ‘that is a really nice line’. That entire movement of The Presentation, Geddy stresses an “ooh” sound in 10 different places (which is a sound Geddy really likes to sing). If you take those ten words you get a poem:
UNUSUAL SHOULD DO.
YOU TRUE BEAUTY.
DO MUSIC, DO YOU. ❤
This is fire... 🔥
Neil sure has a BRISK and crispy snare sound!
Second reaction for me (Brisk)... Enjoyed it. Great journey. Especially the early stuff...
I was lucky enough to catch them live 3 tours in a row starting with Permanent Waves...
The whole Farewell to Kings album in a different world as well.
Every Rush album is a good one, especially their 2 live albums
Guitar hero was my first listen of 2112. Loved it since.
It’s awesome! I had no idea it was on GH. But I don’t remember much from those days anyways so who knows lol
Good shit
Was written about music industry trying to control what type of music was released and produced
14:34 - My Dad, who'd died in December 2005 and who would've turned 103 this May, had used 'Brisk' hair cream for as long as I can remember 😊
All 1 song, 5 parts.
This just came across my feet but I think I will subscribe in case you do more of this kind of thing. But that was a highly enjoyable reaction. What is hilarious is at first I thought there's no way this kid is going to have the attention span to get through this there's just no way. But you found ways to cope and then suddenly you find yourself lost in that world just like we all did at some point. I'm going to assume you are at drummer based on some of the comments he said but I'm a guitar player multi-instrumental it's almost everything although not everything plus recording and composing and riding and stuff like that.
And so therefore it's so fun when you have somebody reacting that definitely has a handle on at least some of the musical aspect of it and I really love the age difference. It's something about not wanting to really pay attention to it but then if you do, like really paying attention to it a whole lot. And I do believe that heavy emergent things is the way to really understand it.
But yeah man, check out the other side of the album! Unlike the first side which is the Concept side, these are all Stand Alone songs and they are all incredible in their own way. There's a lot of variety there but boy will they show you how to rock. And my favorite I have to say is the one that closed out the whole end of the album with, something for nothing. What a way to close in album. But if you can afford to, work your way through side B because they did put those songs in there in an order.
Hey Steve, thanks for watching! I appreciate it so much! This was such a fun album… I can’t wait to hear the rest. I really will check the rest out. This was too much fun not too hear the rest😂🙏🤘
Greatest band of all time lyrically and musically in my opinion!!!! Try driven, half the world, A Farwell to kings hemispheres 😮Xanadu live 81,bytor and the snow dog, cut to the chase, roll the bones lock and key, turn the page, mission, marathon, big money, Animate, trees,,I read once Eddie van Halen was asked how does it feel to be the greatest guitar player, he said go ask Alex lifeson!!
That was Side A of 2112. (In album terms) Side B is quite good too. All individual songs. Explore. They do the same thing in the album “Hemispheres” It’s a little harder to follow because you need to hear the end of previous album to bridge to it. It’s a space voyage turned Greek mythology called Cygnus X1 (Book 1 and 2)
If you want a continuation of this story, there are two more parts. Cygnus X-1 and Cygnus X-1 Book II. Three albums in succession. 2112, A Farewell To Kings and Hemispheres.
On 2112 from All The Worlds A Stage, at around 28:50 from beginning of the LP side, you can hear Neil's snare wires break! This, I believe, added grit and anger to his performance. A happy accident!!
Have you heard about the pressure the record co put on them to make a radio friendly album? And they came out with this!!!! They never had to listen to the label ever again
Sorry but i forgot to say that the comic for the song came out on the 40th anniversary of 2112....I think.
I keeps it brisk, baby🤘🏼 (and these Rush reactions rule)
Ayeeee my man! Thanks bro there will be plenty more :)
Rush is my old favorite band (since 1978), and The Warning is my new favorite band!
Oh no you have to flip over and check outside two of this album it's fantastic some great tunes there Really great tunes there
In it's entirety.
I grew up with Rush but never gave them much mind. They are astounding. Thanks for your reviews. You might consider giving "Porcupine Tree" a look. "Blackest Eyes" is an excellent song. Oh, and "Brisk." (-:
Alex was so Brisk in his solo.
1980s?
Nope.
1976
No, it was arguably an allegory that describes their fight with industry execs to follow their creative vision rather than succumbing to the tremendous pressure that was placed upon them at the time from their label to write more radio friendly tunes. That’s certainly also an overlay of ideas from the sort of fiction Peart was reading at the time - which placed the rights and interests of individuals in stark (and preferable) contrast to the interests of an indifferent state commanded by unsympathetic elites, primarily for their own benefit (which they would convince themselves as being aligned with the best interests of the society over which they governed with an iron fist).
Brisk reaction my guy! 🤣
Hahah thank you my friend 🙏🙏
Every member of this band are phenomenal!!! Check out side two...
Don't know if anyone's mentioned but, this song is loosley based on an Ayn Rand book called Anthem. Brisk.
Rush's 2112 is a Rock Opera on par with the likes of Pink Floyd's The Wall, The Who's Tommy and Styx's Kilroy Was Here among countless others. The Progressive Rock and Fusion movement of the '60s & '70s (and beyond) may have a niche following, but its greatness led the way for Progressive / Symphonic Metal and bands like Tool & Nightwish. This graphic-novel styled video really contributes nicely to realizing the narrative of the lyrics.
Dude it’s so good! I was completely engrossed by the second song. What a beautiful display of musicianship and creativity. The talent was oozing from the screen, you could almost taste it! It seems to me that almost every modern rock or metal band should thank these guys for doing it first and doin it RIGHT!🙏🤘
Yesss 🤘
It's actually all just 1 song. Side 1 of the album. Released in 75. Record company wanted them to make shorter more radio friendly songs. This 20min epic was their response
@@lynnsparks6670 that’s nuts. What a response huh??
Also Brisk reaction lol
It's like a symphony, it has multiple movements.
Always thought the ending solo in Presentation was the continuing argument between them getting more and more heated, as both sides dig in on their positions.
Yes, you could call Rush music, "brisk"...like cold morning air on your face!
A bit of trivia... Neil is the "Voice of Authority" at the end of the song
Time for some live Rush ! Try this video. It's titled: Medley/ By Thor and the Snow Dog/ In the End/ In the Mood/ Grand Finale ! Prepare for greatness !
Sore back often comes from weak abs and glutes. Hit the gym three times a week and you'll fix right up! I never want to go and I'm always glad I went! 🤗
Yeah, everyone's back is the same. What a schmuck!
Rush = Wholesome
Wholesome = Canadian
Canadian = William Shatner
William Shatner = Star Trek
And thus, I have closed the circle for you!
Rush = Star Trek? It tracks… I’m ok with this :)
Brisk!! The sad part of the tale is, the protagonist, who found the guitar, actually does give up hope, in Soliloquy, paraphrasing the last lines, My life blood spills over… so he doesn’t get to see the destruction of the old ways… Also the Temples of Syrinx, there is a mention of the Red Star, I wonder if that was an allusion to the Soviet Communist state… ✌️brother…
@L33Reacts, I'm looking back a bit at your channel. This album was a long time favorite of mine during my high school years.
Take it away, Don!
BRISK
A Other Great band from Ontario Canada is Motion Device. You will love them.
i will check them out! thank you!
Nice BRISK solo in Presentation 😂
😊😂🤘
If you really enjoyed this, next up Cygnus X1 book 1 from the album A Farewell to Kings, and then Cygnus X1 Book 2: Hemispheres from the album Hemispheres. Another concept album with part 1 preceding it on aFtK. For something a little shorter, try The Necromancer or The Fountain of Lamneth off of Caress of Steel.
Think of it like a classical piece with different movements. It’s a single work in multiple parts. They did this a few times. Cygnus X-1 Books 1 and 2 are a great example, and something you should definitely check out
Lee That is side 1 on vinyl Side 2 have good songs but shorter.
That story is Side one of the album . Check out Passage to Bangkok off side 2
Thanks Todd I will! 🙏🤘
You've been going through Rush's library pretty brisk-ly.
It’s too good not too! 😀
Brisk.
Dang it bro... Neil Peart LIVE Frankfurt!!!
Sometimes you talk over incredible moments.
This video is 14 months old. Cut me some slack.
It’s one song with 7 parts to it.
Let me start by saying brisk lol. You must do "la villa stangiato" , xanado, and necromancer. Three of my favorite rush song that create a new world as this one does. These three also shows how great Alex is.
