Syrinx was a siren from ancient Greek mythology. She was eventually turned into a reed which was used to make Pan's flute. Interestingly, in modern times, a syrinx is also a malignant growth that impairs brain function.
Neil Peart got the inspiration for 2112 after reading "Anthem" by Ayn Rand. It's a story of a dystopian future where individuality has been suppressed in favor of the collective. Personal achievement is abolished if not criminalized and there is no individual identity. Then one day the protagonist of the story discovers a trove of lost inventions and a library full of old books and art; creations of the previous society that had thought to have been destroyed under the rise of the current regime. The novel ends with the protagonist discovering the word, "I". Not only does 2112 parallel the story arc of "Anthem", but it is also a personal statement for the band who had been under pressure from the record company to produce more "radio-friendly" cuts that were shorter in length and had mass appeal. The response was an album whose opening track was 20 minutes long and was a defiant statement to the record company that they were not going to conform to the collective wishes of the industry, and they were going to make the music THEY wanted to make!
I've said that also..had to read it in high-school..they took the idea and ran.. at first, didn't understand that it was rebellion....❤...aka..1976...still have the vinyl.

Rush makes incredible sound and music with 3 amazing musicians. Neil Peart drummer and writes all the lyrics, his nickname is the Professor.Best 3 man band ever. NP was a constant reader, and became Rush's primary lyricist when he joined the band in 1974. The 2112 story was partly inspired by Ayn Rand's novel Anthem. As a reader and writer Saeed should enjoy his dive into Rush's great music and lyrics.
Based on a short story "Anthem" by Ayn Rand. Neil was always reading and therefore wrote all the lyrics and eventually books and comic books too. Very much into sci-fi, but his writing matured as he did, philosphically and spiritually. As my high school music teacher once said; "Rush is always worth a listen"
"his writing matured as he did, philosphically and spiritually." None of his later stuff matched 'ten score years ago defeat the kingly foe a wondrous dream came into being......fantastic dreams come true inventing something new earth's greatest minds but never knowing.....' or 'the Oaks are just to greedy we will make them give us light now there's no more Oak oppression for they passed a noble law and the trees are all kept equal by hatchet axe and saw'
What I love about 2112 - and also Cygnus X-1, Book II from the 1978 album Hemispheres - is how Rush incorporates elements of classical music and opera in their compositions, beginning with an introductory overture that previews the musical themes before launching into the story their music will tell. The albums from Fly By Night through Signals are, when taken together, are the greatest outpouring of musical creativity of any band ever. Period. The best way to listen to them is sequentially. It really shows how they evolve.
The drummer, Neil Peart, was a massive reader. He ended up writing most of the lyrics for the band and even published 4 books. In the early years, most of the songs where stories with real things to say about the world. If you listen to the music, it usually is developed around what is needed to fit the intent of the lyrics. Lots of expansion and contractions to create an emotional effect. Welcome to the deep rabbit hole of Rush! 40 albums over 40 years! 3 guys that will never happen again! Master musicians that because of their fan base, did not have to compromise their music. Check out their documentary, "Beyond the lighted stage". Beware, if you follow the white rabbit down this rabbit hole, you may never leave wonderland!
The lead character in the story went from not knowing what a guitar was to playing an epic Rush song in less than a minute. I still struggle with my shoelaces 😮
The Overture at the beginning is actually an overture like they have in operas or whatever, where a piece of music introduces the main musical themes (ie short melodies) that are used throughout the whole piece, they usually represent something like a person or place.
For years, side A of 2112 was my guitar warmup.... Something for nothing to finish. The Temple Priests were so adamantly opposed to the "Why" that the " What" was lost on them. 2112 is a modern retelling of Rand's "Anthem".
The people who introduced me to Rush did me a great favor (Thanks Mike & Jeff). "Rush" for one week on LP - then "Fly By Night" for one week - then "Caress of Steel" for one week - until I was caught up. I had the opportunity to experience Rush the first time the way that they had. Nothing but liner notes and headphones to really soak it in the way it was intended. I caught up just in time for "Presto" Tour. 2112 was one of those moments where I can remember the moment with such clarity - the time of day, the candle scent, Coca-Cola & peanuts, the details of the room I was in, lying on my bed with my feet propped on the desk, and desperately trying to absorb every instant.
I'm happy you went on your journey and please continue because it is a wonderful journey. Rush is a National treasure and they are amazing when I see people find them and enjoy the music
As a writer and lover of science fiction myself (Grew up on HG Wells, Isaac Asimov, Frank Herbert, Jules Verne, etc.), ya just gotta love 2112. This was my introduction to Rush. I was hooked. Been a fan ever since. There's a LOT of Rush to get into. You're gonna love it. Peace!
This is an EPIC masterpiece that was so brilliantly crafted performed. You should really read the entire backstory of how this all came about. 3 of the most remarkable people to ever roam the Earth, in my view. Their entire story is absolutely amazing.
I love seeing people with different careers analyze things from their professional perspective. RUSH's lyric writing is beyond any other band. Extremely well read guys. Incorporate literature ranging from Shakespeare to Ayn Rand and so much more.
Jimmy Page, Guitarist of Led Zeppelin noted that one of his favorite bands of 1976 were Rush, No doubt 2112 had something to do with this. It is truly a work of art, and should have a movie built around this story... Can you just imagine? Crowdfund Anyone?
First time listening to this, was just enjoying the music and not understanding where the song was going, but when the Hero discovers the guitar, I instantly knew what the song was about. Was filled with bliss and cried for the rest of the album. Still gives me chills listening to this.
You have now listened to the first side of the "2112" album. The "B" side consists of shorter stand-alone songs that are also excellent and worthy of your attention. The album was released in 1976 and is still quite relevant.
Their whole library is the cream of the prog crop. It is put down a bunch but get the Power Windows physical CD and give that a listen. It was their 1st all digital album. Sound quality is something else.
This was a most epic production! An entire generation of metal heads were enthralled and so supportive of the band and music! I hadn't heard this in more decades than I care to admit, and it all came rushing back (no pun intended). Thank you for this journey. Great reaction! Now process andngo re-listen. 😂🤘
THEY EVENNNNN DID THE SONG IN CONCERT SAEED! LOLOL , INSANE MY FRIEND!!! 💯😊 3 GUYS THAT SOUND LIKE A ( 7 ) MAN BAND IF GET MY DRIFT! AND YEAH ALSO NEIL WAS A HUGE FAN OF ( AYN RAND ) SO 👍 SO SO MUCH WITH THIS GREAT PROG ROCK BAND IN 40 YEARS AMN ( 74-2014 )
This album was listened to before every home high school football game as we meditated before the games. Well, at our house with a bunch of fellow players lying all over the place in the mid-late 1970’s. 🙂
Great reaction, brother! It's great that you are a writer and a Sci Fi fan! You will LOVE Rush! Neil Peart, the drummer, is an excellent lyric writer and he was a prolific writer of books! He wrote mostly non-fiction, travel-memoirs, and observations of modern life, along with some fiction. Rush is going to take your brain and heart to the next level, sir! Keep going!
Great reaction, Saeed! Heh, there was no chance you weren't going to like this, given your interests. Still fun to see you experience it for the first time. You'll get a lot of good info on this track/album, but I'll give you a shorthand version. The band got an ultimatum from their record label that they needed to start putting out more radio-friendly music, or they were finished. They decided if they were going out, they were going out on their own terms. So, they produced this epic track that took up the entire first side of the album by the same name. It was a giant F-U to their label. Not only in terms of being about as non-radio friendly as you can get, but despite it being a proper sci-fi piece if taken literally, it's really about the music industry, with the priests representing the music industry suits. And the cool thing is, the album really took off, especially in the States. It really put them on the map, and started the extremely successful rest of their careers. They never again had to worry about pressure from their label, and were able to do what they wanted in all the years that followed. It's really a crazy story how it all worked out. And to think their F-U led to such an epic masterpiece, that is still revered to this day. Once you get more background, you should check it out again, because you'll get even more out of it. Also, there is a lot of text in the video that is not lyrics, that would be good to pause to read, next time. It brings the story even more to life.
Thank you for this one and also for providing this info. Love that they followed their creative instinct. I did read the text in the video while it was playing (fast reader present 😅) but definitely want to revisit this song. Just so good.
I first heard this Album in 1977. I've memorized every word and note. Snice then I've seen it preformed by Rush 37 times. Yet the raw talent in playing the instruments the writing of the lyrics the depth of the story for the need of creativity. Still blows me away
@@SaeedReacts.As I said I've seen Rush perform 37 times. Believe it or not I am one of the ones that are on low end. At their last concert. I met people who were in the mid 70s of live performances. Rush started out with a small following. They were very rarely played on the Radio(FM in its young days) if at all. Most of their songs do not have the 3.5 minutes length of radio playability. You might want to check out Rush spirit of radio. Write as ode to the last of FM radio days of innocence. And big triple 🖕🏽 to the record label executives who were pressuring Rush to make songs for the radon. All three members agreed they'd rather be dropped by the label and go back to their former jobs . While playing at bars on weekends again . Before giving up their integrity to their music.
Yes !! Love your reaction to this masterpiece..I remember the first time I heard this...on an old vinyl record ...in 1984..I was in awe ...Unbelievable."What did I just hear"..The heavy music ,the guitar distortion and gushing chords , the drumming ...so awesome... but there are also some of the most beautiful clean sparkling guitar chords and progresions with that raw humbucker sound (hollow body guitar(I think) and sweet raw reverb ... ...So beautiful...
🎼♦️♦️♦️ 2112 !!! I was hoping this was coming soon Saeed. THIS is my favorite song of all time, of any genre , of any Era. Thank you so much for allowing yourself this amazing moment for you. RUSH is simply unlike any other Rock band, ultimate creativity and ultimate musicianship !! 💜💜💜💜🎼🔥🔥🔥🔥 I can't tell how much it means to me to see another music lover discover this song. TY ♦️♦️♦️🎼
Welcome to Rush. Only three members created this magic. Enjoy your journey. 40 + years, over 160 songs and 17 albums to explore. Try any of these next, YYZ live in Rio, Working Man live in Cleveland, Subdivisions, Red Barchetta, LaVilla Strangiato, Natural Science, Roll the Bones, Xanadu and on and on.
Here's the basic story behind 2112. Their promoters Mercury wanted them to do radio friendly songs. This was a protest. They said we're not doing this for you. We're doing it for us. So, they made the first half of the record all one song (kinda) and gave them the finger and created this MASTERPIECE This is the story of that battle. Neil Peart, after he joined the band, wrote all of the lyrics to Rush music. We lost our GOAT. He's playing for GOD now.😇 That was the last time I cried (Sorry Christine. When Stevie goes I'm going to lose it) 😭 I'm jealous because you have the cool earphones like I had with my old turntable in the day. Now all I have is my little computer speaker. This version that's cool with graphics telling the story, in the 1970s we were hit with both barrels with this, and only our imagination. " Listen to my music". "Hear what it can do". "Tere's something here as strong as life". "I know it will reach you." Thank you so much for making this GOAT enjoyable again.
Cygnus X-1. One of my favorites because of its absolutely off the rails structure. And the ending, when considering the time it came out, is heavy, heavy.
Back in the mid 70s they started recording in quadraphonics. That's why you hear the separation in your earphones. I was fifteen in 76 when this album came, and I've never been the same after. These three geniuses were way ahead of their time's. Keep going brother. Your doing phenomenal.😊
And what amazes me most? The fact that these three geniuses, arguably the greatest prog rock band ever, were not inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame until 2013. Wtf?
You are in for a wild ride my friend. Rush has many epic concept albums and songs science fiction and real life issues are explored in their music. I’m sure you’ll enjoy all of it.
Next Rush songs should be Xanadu (live from Exit Stage Left), ByTor and the Snow Dog and The Necromancer. Also Cygnus X-1 Book 1 and then Cygnus X-1 Book 2/Hemispheres.
Thanks so much! Appreciate that. This was epic! And love that they stuck to their own creative vision. Have a reaction to One Little Victory coming later today. And also recorded a reaction to Xanadu (live 1981). Take care!
@@SaeedReacts. now Im watching your reaction to the weapon, you must see the live video of the tour Grace Under Pressure. Will be looking for your videos than
Neil Peart (pronounced Pee art) the drummer, percussionist and lyricist is known to all fans as The Professor. His lyrics are very erudite if you love reading. Neil himself has written 8 books as a writer separate to his work with Rush. The most painful to read is Ghost Rider: Travels on the Healing Road which is the book he wrote after his family (wife and child died within 11 months of each other).
You're welcome... Something for your leisure listening "stuffs"-- "A Passion Play"~ Jethro Tull..The "tune" is written in sections musically & encompasses the entire album with a "surprise story".. Lyrically, "it" speaks for itself..I will definitely look into your reaction videos more..🧐✌️@@SaeedReacts.
I loved your reaction to this classic story/rock opera. It's somewhat true that the new machines are ruining the youth. But if I may, I don't fear the new machines; I fear the men who control them. Big money and their puppet governments are always a plague on mankind. I love how the band saves the world in the end.
Glad you loved it. Since you're a writer you'll love their lyrics. Neil Peart their drummer is truly a brilliant writer and poet. His lyrics are layered with all poetic devices. Metaphors, simile, alliteration just to name a few. You'll become a huge fan of his.
I really love concepts like these. Just listened to The Necromancer. Another awesome storytelling track. That reaction should be up this week. Have a great day.
After the commercial failure of their 3rd album Caress of Steel where they'd dipped their toes in long songs which told stories, they were under pressure from the record label to be more like Bad Company and release shorter radio friendly hits. They decided that if this was going to be their last album they were going to do it their way. So their answer to the Label's request for radio friendly hits was a side long 20 minute epic ! What they'd learned from Caress of Steel, they got absolutely right with 2112 & was after a slow start very successful. It bought them their creative freedom to be who they wanted to be. If there was ever a band who were true to themselves, never compromised & had integrity it was Rush.
This was one of the first LPs I bought with my own money. I might have worn the groves smooth. It's really hard to overstate the impact Rush has had on several generations of fans and bands. Thanks for a great reaction - it really reminded me of the way I felt when I first heard this.
Back when i first heard this you had to ride your bike to your friends that bought the album. This one was a big deal for me back in my early teens. I still play it often, and here i am again. I thought this would be a great one for you to hear.
I felt like you feel now back in 1976 (I think) when I first heard 2112. I still remember where I was and who I was with because I had never heard anything like this before. This is a masterpiece and remains one of my top five albums of all time. Also, this was side 1, side 2 is a collection of more traditional length songs and unrelated to the the story on side 1 of the album, all still very good. There is another Sci Fi song on side 2 called Twilight Zone which is inspired by the tv show of the same name.
Neil use to travel down to my neck of the woods on his motorcycle from Toronto bc his custom made cymbals are made here. ❤cool fact. Yep rush were ahead of their time.
I loved your reaction to 2112! So many people never know or understand what Rush has meant to the music world- especially Mr Peart. They’re all geniuses but he was the main lyricist as well as, obviously, the drummer and percussionist. If you like the “storytelling” type of prog rock, you gotta check out The Necromancer from their Caress of Steel album- the one just before 2112. You won’t be disappointed
Thanks so much. This really is an epic masterpiece. I had no idea music like this was out there. Glad i discovered it. I reacted to The Necromancer. Again great storytelling. Should be in the Rush Reactions playlist. Take care!
@@SaeedReacts. Awesome! I’ll check out your Necromancer react. I’ve been a Rush fan for 40+ yrs. They’re so much deeper than just a “rock band.” You seem to be a brilliant man and I’m subbed up now. I look forward to checking out other vids. Have a nice weekend
This was side 1 of the Album 2112. If you want a full album experience. You need to Read/Listen to Clockwork Angels... Novel, Graphic Novel and Full Concept Album. You will be blown away
Changes by David Bowie : And these children that you spit on as they try to change their world, are immune to your consultations, they're quite aware what they're going through.
I've been listening to this album ever since it came out and I never tire of listening to it. If you'd like some more Rush storytelling, check out their performance of "Xanadu," Exit Stage Left tour, Montreal 1981, a song based on a Romantic Era unfinished poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge; their Tolkinesque "By-Tor and the Snow Dog," and their space-faring song about a black hole, "Cygnus X-1." Give Side 2 of " 2112" a listen as well. And if you want to see Rush SHRED your socks off, watch their performance of "Working Man," Time Machine tour, Cleveland 2011. ✌️
I loved this reaction and subscribed immediately. Welcome to the World of Rush. If you want to hear and witness some of the most amazing music that is performed live as well or better than in the studio, then dive in. Remember that every sound you hear is being made by 3 guys. 3 of the most talented artists to ever play together, which they did for 4 decades. Enjoy! I look forward to seeing this journey
Their library is amazing and you can watch 40 years of their performances. One of the most amazing is working man live in Cleveland. You should also watch Dinner with Rush to get to know them as best friends
In the Soliloquy did the Hero’s voice change into the voice of the Priest of Syrinx ? Does that signify your point that the older generation will try to impose its own will?
I got to see Rush in concert 3 times 😊 My favorite Rush song is Presto, from the album also named Presto. I hope you'll check it out and hopefully do a reaction. 😊

Whilst most will tell you that it's an F.U from Rush to the Record label (telling them to be more commecial) it's actually a full analogy of this situation (very meta). I may not be exactly correct about absolutely everything but this is what makes sense to me: Protagonist represents Rush The Priests represent the Record Label/Music industry The guitar represents Rush's music (ideas/creations) The Elders respresent Tradtion/Wisdom/the ideals (i.e. how it should be - common sense "left the world long ago") In the song the protagonist k*lls himself but in the animation he lives - why? When in the process of writing the song... Rush were sure they were commiting professional su*cide with this and that they were ABOUT TO have a huge fight with the record label over it (Grand Finale having no lyrics until closing). The Animation,on the other hand, was done to celebrate their 40th anniversary, so of course, by then, it was known that Rush prospered and didn't d*e, so the protagonist lived on. The Elders returning to conquer the Priests was obviously their hope at that time, that the ideals would win out. P.s. edited as have written many like this and think YT censors certain words
Guess the next in line for story-telling is Xanadu (live video - from Exit Stage left) upscaled version from stickhits channel. Looks up lyrics beforehand then enjoy the visual/muscial experience (and pay attention to their feet!)
Too bad you weren't around to be able to see this one live - it was something to experience ... There will never be another band like Rush!! [subbed for the journey] My intro to Rush was the album just preceding this one (Caress of Steel) - it was considered a flop and lead directly to 2112, but I loved it and have been a fan ever since.

@@SaeedReacts. Necromancer is great ... the narration at the beginning is Neil, I think it's the only time his voice is in a song. I loved The Fountain of Lamneth. My best friend introduced the song to me a few months before she died in a car crash ... it has great meaning for me.

Thansk for sharing this. 40 albums 🤯🤯. Wow!
Neil Peart wrote all the lyrics...RIP Neil..you are loved and missed❤
The peak of music was between 1967 and 1997.
For years, side A of 2112 was my guitar warmup.... Something for nothing to finish.
The Temple Priests were so adamantly opposed to the "Why" that the " What" was lost on them.
2112 is a modern retelling of Rand's "Anthem".
I must read Anthem at some point.
This song is an incredible piece of art.
Damn! You described your experience so well it felt like i was there 😃
LOL ... cant imagine what it must be like to hear this for the first time as Ive heard it a thousand times
Epic masterpiece!
2112 live in concert was unbelievable.
I'm happy you went on your journey and please continue because it is a wonderful journey. Rush is a National treasure and they are amazing when I see people find them and enjoy the music
Its truly an amazing journey. Enjoyed every song so far.
Neil Peart is a brilliant writer and lyricist. Rush has written several “story” songs. Red Barchetta is one of my favorites! Thanks for the reaction.
That one is on my list! Enjoyed all the songs i have heard so far. Also read one of Neil's books.
Thank you Canada for sending the world the perfect trifecta of pure genius that embodied what we all know as…Rush
In order for your mind to be blown, you must first leave a crack or gap through which to pack the necessary explosives.
Peace!
Legendary authors! Got a reaction to The Weapon coming later today. Have a great day.
Incredible writing. All the songs i have checked out are so well written.
Incredible piece of art.
You have now listened to the first side of the "2112" album. The "B" side consists of shorter stand-alone songs that are also excellent and worthy of your attention. The album was released in 1976 and is still quite relevant.
Definitely need to check out the B side as well.
Epic is truly the word for it. A masterpiece! Thanks for joining me on this journey. The Necromancer reaction should be coming in the next few days.
This was my first Rush album when it was new. I love seeing people appreciate this music. Thank you
It is an incredible piece of art. What a journey!
Keep going!
Excited for this journey! Thanks for watching. Have a great day!
@@SaeedReacts. You're welcome. I wish I could read that fast. 😏
working man in cleveland live is a must
I first heard this Album in 1977. I've memorized every word and note. Snice then I've seen it preformed by Rush 37 times. Yet the raw talent in playing the instruments the writing of the lyrics the depth of the story for the need of creativity. Still blows me away
Wow! Impressive!
I truly think this is one of the best albums ever. Rush are godlike to me! 🖤
Amazing piece of art. Thanks for sharing your experience. Definitely one that you never forget.
LONG LIVE RUSH ❤
🎼♦️♦️♦️ 2112 !!! I was hoping this was coming soon Saeed. THIS is my favorite song of all time, of any genre , of any Era. Thank you so much for allowing yourself this amazing moment for you. RUSH is simply unlike any other Rock band, ultimate creativity and ultimate musicianship !! 💜💜💜💜🎼🔥🔥🔥🔥 I can't tell how much it means to me to see another music lover discover this song. TY ♦️♦️♦️🎼
Super creative and awesome concept. Love this! Thanks for watching
Thanks! Just listened to The Necromancer, that video should be coming this week and will check out more! Enjoying these.
When Stevie goes I'm going to lose it) 😭
I'm jealous because you have the cool earphones like I had with my old turntable in the day. Now all I have is my little computer speaker. This version that's cool with graphics telling the story, in the 1970s we were hit with both barrels with this, and only our imagination.
" Listen to my music".
"Hear what it can do".
"Tere's something here as strong as life".
"I know it will reach you."
Thank you so much for making this GOAT enjoyable again.
Thanks for sharing this! Truly appreciate you for taking the time. 🙏🏽❤️. I have another Rush reaction coming later today.
Wait, wait, wait
You like science?
Wait till you hear
Cygnus X-1
Or how about Natural Science!
All interesting titles! Just checked out The Necromancer. That video should be coming this week.
@@SaeedReacts.
That's a great one.
People will be reacting to this side of an album forever, because it's a masterpiece.
💯
Cygnus X-1. One of my favorites because of its absolutely off the rails structure. And the ending, when considering the time it came out, is heavy, heavy.
Definitely going to check out that one.
Back in the mid 70s they started recording in quadraphonics. That's why you hear the separation in your earphones.
I was fifteen in 76 when this album came, and I've never been the same after. These three geniuses were way ahead of their time's.
Keep going brother. Your doing phenomenal.😊
Thanks for telling me about that. Learning so much! Have a wonderful day!
@@SaeedReacts.
You too bro. Thanks...
And what amazes me most? The fact that these three geniuses, arguably the greatest prog rock band ever, were not inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame until 2013. Wtf?
I saw 2112 tour..my first Rush concert..amazing..
Incredible!
You are in for a wild ride my friend. Rush has many epic concept albums and songs science fiction and real life issues are explored in their music. I’m sure you’ll enjoy all of it.
This is an epic one. Have done a few others and today i got a reaction to Witch Hunt coming. Looking forward to more!
Next Rush songs should be Xanadu (live from Exit Stage Left), ByTor and the Snow Dog and The Necromancer. Also Cygnus X-1 Book 1 and then Cygnus X-1 Book 2/Hemispheres.
Dude love your reaction! This album gave Rush their freedom.. They stuck it to the man (record industry)you got yourself a new subscriber
Thanks for sharing. Didnt know it was pronounced that way. Definitely want to read some of his writing. Cant imagine dealing with that kind of pain.
Your's was the best reaction to 2112 , I've seen here....2112 Live, all 7 parts Toronto 1997 is beyond epic..✌️
Thank you so much for the kind words 🙏🏽❤️
You're welcome... Something for your leisure listening "stuffs"-- "A Passion Play"~ Jethro Tull..The "tune" is written in sections musically & encompasses the entire album with a "surprise story".. Lyrically, "it" speaks for itself..I will definitely look into your reaction videos more..🧐✌️@@SaeedReacts.
Neil Peart wrote the songs for rush he was one of best drummers in the world
My favorite album of all time. I forgot I needed this in my life. Thank you
This is epic. Thanks for watching. Have a wonderful day.
Like you, Neil was widely read. He also wrote several books - all worth reading.
Will look those up. Thanks for watching.
🤯 2112..... 🤗 Okay, got snacks. Let's Go! 🍿🥰🐰
This one Definitely warrants popcorn 😄
La Villa Strangiato next please!
If you haven't read Roger Zelazny - The Chronicles of Amber then I can't recommend them highly enough. The Corwin series is simply amazing.
Have not read that one yet. Currently reading The Book that Broke the World by Mark Lawrence.
Fantastic series!
best band ever!
Thank you so much for sharing this. This is a masterpiece!
A masterpiece the first time I heard it back on release and still to this day.
Epic awesomeness!
This was one of the first LPs I bought with my own money. I might have worn the groves smooth. It's really hard to overstate the impact Rush has had on several generations of fans and bands. Thanks for a great reaction - it really reminded me of the way I felt when I first heard this.
That is awesome. You never forget that first album you saved up money for. Thank you for sharing that.
Back when i first heard this you had to ride your bike to your friends that bought the album. This one was a big deal for me back in my early teens. I still play it often, and here i am again. I thought this would be a great one for you to hear.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing that. I also get that feeling of albums and songs from my teenage years. Great memories!
RIP Neil Peart!❤️🤘🎸
Love Neil forever ❤️💗💕💜🙏🙏🙏
I felt like you feel now back in 1976 (I think) when I first heard 2112. I still remember where I was and who I was with because I had never heard anything like this before. This is a masterpiece and remains one of my top five albums of all time. Also, this was side 1, side 2 is a collection of more traditional length songs and unrelated to the the story on side 1 of the album, all still very good. There is another Sci Fi song on side 2 called Twilight Zone which is inspired by the tv show of the same name.
Oh didnt know there was another side to this album. Thanks for letting me know. This is storytelling of epic proportions. Love it
Neil use to travel down to my neck of the woods on his motorcycle from Toronto bc his custom made cymbals are made here. ❤cool fact. Yep rush were ahead of their time.
That is awesome! Looking forward to more.
Grand Finale ! OMG ! Not even Led Zeppelin could have come up with that …. Majestic ! 1976 !
Epic masterpiece!

Changes by David Bowie : And these children that you spit on as they try to change their world, are immune to your consultations, they're quite aware what they're going through.
I've been listening to this album ever since it came out and I never tire of listening to it.
If you'd like some more Rush storytelling, check out their performance of "Xanadu," Exit Stage Left tour, Montreal 1981, a song based on a Romantic Era unfinished poem by Samuel Taylor Coleridge; their Tolkinesque "By-Tor and the Snow Dog," and their space-faring song about a black hole, "Cygnus X-1."
Give Side 2 of " 2112" a listen as well.
And if you want to see Rush SHRED your socks off, watch their performance of "Working Man," Time Machine tour, Cleveland 2011.
✌️
These are definitely on my todo list. Love those storytelling songs. Thanks for the recommendations!
Thanks for subscribing! This one is truly epic.
Please do a 7 parter reaction to this piece of art ! ♥️
Nice reaction kinda nice to see it from a writer’s point of view.🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Love the concept and the writing. Execution is flawless. Thanks so much for watching.

Great reaction. Looking forward to more Rush
Thanks. I have a reaction to The Necromancer coming tomorrow.
Welcome. We have been expecting you.
Thanks so much! Incredible masterpiece!
Told ya !!! Lol Their opus, this is Nostradamas type stuff ! I saw this live in Toronto!! Imagine
That must have been awesome!
I got to see Rush in concert 3 times 😊 My favorite Rush song is Presto, from the album also named Presto. I hope you'll check it out and hopefully do a reaction. 😊
Awesome!
Will add that one to my list.
There's an encompassing libretto that goes along with the lyrical content of 2112. you just have to pay attention... watch closely if you dare.
Love the “Temple” accent you adopted for the narration. Glad you’re enjoying these!

Whilst most will tell you that it's an F.U from Rush to the Record label (telling them to be more commecial) it's actually a full analogy of this situation (very meta). I may not be exactly correct about absolutely everything but this is what makes sense to me:
Protagonist represents Rush
The Priests represent the Record Label/Music industry
The guitar represents Rush's music (ideas/creations)
The Elders respresent Tradtion/Wisdom/the ideals (i.e. how it should be - common sense "left the world long ago")
In the song the protagonist k*lls himself but in the animation he lives - why?
Neil was pissed they showed the protagonist living, his intent was for him to die before the elder race returned.
@@gold98gtp got a source for that?
guess I won't believe you then
Too bad you weren't around to be able to see this one live - it was something to experience ... There will never be another band like Rush!! [subbed for the journey] My intro to Rush was the album just preceding this one (Caress of Steel) - it was considered a flop and lead directly to 2112, but I loved it and have been a fan ever since.
Damn! Born in the wrong decade! Just said that today in another Rush reaction I recorded 😅 And i think it was from Caress of Steel (The Necromancer) i loved it! Hope to get that video up by Wednesday.
@@SaeedReacts. Necromancer is great ... the narration at the beginning is Neil, I think it's the only time his voice is in a song. I loved The Fountain of Lamneth. My best friend introduced the song to me a few months before she died in a car crash ... it has great meaning for me.
