Was incredibly surprised by the lack of shots downfield, but a win is a win and I think we come out swinging against Arkansas. I think it's safe to say that Josh held back and I'm ok with that. He's thinking ahead. Go Vols. Good win on the road.
This was Nico's first real test, he was a bit shaky. I credit that OU defense and that environment more than I think Josh was holding it back. I don't think he would have liked anything more than to go into Norman and hang 50 plus on that team. Quality win though and it's a building block for Nico.

The left tackle all most got him killed several times. Why have him hold it and get crushed when you know they can't overcome the 3 score deficit? Nico's the real deal. I pray he stays healthy. I'm right at that age that I really wasn't watching football the last time TN was national champion contenders in 98 I think it was, I was too busy playing video games :). So after all those years of being a fan and us being mediocre at best, it feels so good to see TN just start clicking like a solid team that will fight you until the end.
i think he's the real deal but i caught him playing scared a little last night. mort Tennessee QBs even Hooker would have folded against a defense that good and aggressive in that kind of road environment though so considering that he was pretty dang good considering he's a freshman. i just feel like he's holding back a bit and maybe even playing a little not to get injured. that freshman QB for Oklahoma who replaced Arnold was very impressive... just his sheer desire to make plays despite having to put his body on the line.. Hawkins is his name. i want Nico to play with that kind of energy. hooker and fobbs both played with that kind of energy i noticed..Nico is definitely holding himself back a bit...i think it was smart on the road in that environment though. ket our defense and running game grind em down.

The field was a wreck man! The reason for pulling back the offense mostly is due to the lack of first string tackles on the line, too thin to take a chance of Nico getting hit and injured.

I thought his game plan was good. It took me a minute to figure out that he was protecting Nico. We tend to forget how relatively inexperienced he really is, and knowing how good Oklahoma’s defense is, he played it perfectly. Plus, it is just so awesome how well our defense is playing right now. Coaches confidence in that unit allowed for the conservative play calling on offense. GBO!!!

I think our best blind side tackle was out, and for a while, we had a 3rd string tackle playing that position. Since we were ahead and defense dominated, we just tried to run clock out cause they were not gonna come back with the way Oklahoma offense was playing.

With the way OU offense was playing and the way our defense was playing I think it was easily the right call. You could tell our defense had this game on lock. I think this was a very smart play by Heupel. Not what we're used to and he said it himself but it shows that we can win either in a shoot-out or in a defensive/clock play and that's a very good thing.

Once we went up 12 to 3 the gameplan was simple. Don't give OU the ball on offense and continue suffocating their offense with our elite defense.

Heupel called a smart game like saban would. He knew his defense was stopping them so he was playing protect the ball run the clock.
