Texas fan here. I watched the game from start to finish. One thing i was wrong about was Oklahoma defense. Its legit. I felt kind of bad for the defense. You can only do so much. They had take aways, tackle for losses, sacks, everything it takes to win a football game but Tennessee was resilient. They controlled the game. They made bigger plays on offense than Oklahoma. Oklahoma didn't really score until the other quarterback came in. He's pretty good. Got some wheels on him. Even though Tennessee was winning big, it felt a lot closer. I mean so many missed opportunities for the Sooners. But nonetheless i had Tennessee winning by at least 2 touchdowns. They're just the better team. UT's offense played like hot garbage too, and didn't have the o line healthy 2/3 of the game unfortunately. OU took advantage there for sure. Nico has to work on his pocket awareness and holding the ball too long at times. Still, OU is as good as any SEC defense for sure. If they get you in a low scoring slugfest watch out.

I mean Huepel actually always plays conservatively when we are winning. He just relies heavily on the run game to eat the clock. If you check the stats for our first 3 games, we had a ton of rushing yards. So, we still continued to put up points in those games and increase the lead. This year, we actively have a defense that is worth trusting. This is smart football. If we are winning significantly, no reason to throw the ball. The difference tonight was that OU was at least good enough at stopping the run that they didn't allow us to put up 50 points. But it was still a dominant win in the sense that we had complete control of the game from the 2nd quarter until the end. The AP ranking will reflect this tomorrow and I guarantee you we move into the top 4. Maybe 5, but I think 4

as a vol fan i think it was one of the most boring games i've seen from heupel. I dont think i'll even watch the replay for this one. the field conditions were horrible and i think it was intentionally done to slow the offenses down and give oklahoma a chance. this was not a normal tennessee game offensively.

TN won on defense tonight with the D line and solid secondary play through 4 quarters. This video doesn't linger on it but when Iamaleava lost the ball twice, the D came back with two huge turnovers on the next plays. I wasn't impressed with calling 3 runs after McCoy's long reception and settling for a field goal--that wastes chances that bama and georgia will punish. Overall good game, OU is still in the running after this performance

Tenn defensive physicality was the key to this game. Took all the playmakers out in the first quarter and lived in the backfield. Great effort from OUs defense but Tennessee had talent at depth.

I can’t believe College Gameday didn’t forecast this being a lock for Vols to win. ESPN only went because they have an SEC bias. Nothing about this matchup was intriguing. I could name 3-5 other matchups that were better on paper and in reality.
It's the 6th ranked team in the country in their first real test this year (NC State doesn't count). Oklahoma has a good defense and had home field advantage. This was the best match-up in terms of interest. Now we know that Tennessee's offense is legit against a solid defense, and Oklahoma needs to reexamine their QB room. Either that or Tennessee's defense is stronger than their offense, it's hard to say with Jackson Arnold as a starter and the Vols offense playing conservative for most of the second half.
And Oklahoma will do just fine in the SEC. They just showed that they are a focused group but Tennessee also is beginning to come into its prime. UGA better watch out 👀
Let's be real here. Hawkins kid played ok, but he came in down 3 scores late in 3rd qtr, so of course he's gonna be playing against alot softer defense than the starter. He may be better than Arnold, but let's not act like they would've won if he played the whole game. Most of those were gifts to OU; they rarely called anything on OU. How many times did you see officials call defensive PI on OU? Hoe about Holding? Roughing the passer? Not once. OU received a total of 3 penalties all game. Tennessee was assessed 10. Shitty officials.
I hope OU and the nation know UT could've scored 70 had they wanted to. A few injuries on the Oline and the fact Huepel didn't want to run up the score on his alma mater kept him from opening up the offense. There's footage after Huepel hugging Nico and apologizing for calling a conservative game.

as a vol fan i think it was one of the most boring games i've seen from heupel. I dont think i'll even watch the replay for this one. the field conditions were horrible and i think it was intentionally done to slow the offenses down and give oklahoma a chance. this was not a normal tennessee game offensively.

Vol here. Got to be at this game with my dad who’s a born-and-raised Sooner. Happy to have this little slice of history with him 💪🏼 A defensive victory for OU, honestly. You can only do so much for so long against that many weapons, and they still gave their offense plenty of opportunities for points. OU is gonna be a powerhouse once they get control of that offense.

TN won on defense tonight with the D line and solid secondary play through 4 quarters. This video doesn't linger on it but when Iamaleava lost the ball twice, the D came back with two huge turnovers on the next plays. I wasn't impressed with calling 3 runs after McCoy's long reception and settling for a field goal--that wastes chances that bama and georgia will punish. Overall good game, OU is still in the running after this performance

Tenn defensive physicality was the key to this game. Took all the playmakers out in the first quarter and lived in the backfield. Great effort from OUs defense but Tennessee had talent at depth.

It's the 6th ranked team in the country in their first real test this year (NC State doesn't count). Oklahoma has a good defense and had home field advantage. This was the best match-up in terms of interest. Now we know that Tennessee's offense is legit against a solid defense, and Oklahoma needs to reexamine their QB room. Either that or Tennessee's defense is stronger than their offense, it's hard to say with Jackson Arnold as a starter and the Vols offense playing conservative for most of the second half.

Let's be real here. Hawkins kid played ok, but he came in down 3 scores late in 3rd qtr, so of course he's gonna be playing against alot softer defense than the starter. He may be better than Arnold, but let's not act like they would've won if he played the whole game. Vols outplayed them in every way, with 4x more penalties, & played the 4th just protecting the lead. Most of those were gifts to OU; they rarely called anything on OU. How many times did you see officials call defensive PI on OU? Hoe about Holding? Roughing the passer? Not once. OU received a total of 3 penalties all game. Tennessee was assessed 10. Shitty officials.
