- SoonerScoop.com’s Eddie Radosevich and George Stoia are back in Scoop studios on Campus Corner following an abysmal offensive performance and 25-15 loss to Tennessee that led to the benching of starting quarterback Jackson Arnold. Where can this offense go from here? That’s a question that will be asked many times over the next week heading into the first road trip of the year at Auburn. So much wasted in an outstanding defensive performance on Saturday to open play in the Southeastern Conference.
Hey Sooners, just wanted to drop in and say thank you for an incredible weekend. Oklahoma fans are the most welcoming and hospitable of any SEC fans I’ve ever experienced. Treated my dad and I like old friends. Thank you again, we will definitely be back!
We will be better next time.
Thank you, I'm glad you were treated good, great game, our o line can't block yet,see y'all next year, we still love Josh😎🏈
Good to hear, we love Josh, congratulations on a great season.
@@paulkeahtigh2y’all got a QB in Hawkins I think. Straighten that o line up a bit and that guy will take y’all places. The first QB needs to go play back yard football. That dude is T Rash
Screw you
Vol fan here. Impressed with OK’s will to win. Hell of a defense and no quit in the team. Wish you guys all the best rest of the season
Respect
Other than the injuries that they caused by thrashing their field to slow us down
Yep, got their own dude's knee blown out because of it@jeffmercer9655
Dudes really didn’t quit like EVER
That’s Oklahoma football. No quit
Vols fan here just wanted to send prayers to Kendal Dolby for a speedy recovery! Wishing you guys a healthy rest of the season. Respect from UT!
Vols fan here. Sooners, hold your heads high. Two great defenses decided that game. Every QB that took the field is a freshman, both sides. Y'all were kind and classy. Your team played a good game.
BV should be fired offensive coordinator should be fired DeMarco Murray she'll be fired this is the worst of the worst you should have pulled Jackson Auto out when he fumble the ball on the goal line. These guys are soft these guys are not in shape they can't take a hit these guys especially get offense is still kids. Colorado Buffalo play a lot better a lot better than Oklahoma I live in Denver Colorado I ain't no watching that game because there was no excitement these guys are so soft they can't take a hit the game when I was watching offensive lineman was on the backs. Tennessee wasn't very good my opinion.
@@elmerpiggee9314neither is your grammar. Come back when you can make some sense.
@@elmerpiggee9314 Pure cope! You don’t think Tenn is that good because they didn’t score 100 points? That wasn’t the game plan. Heupel fooled everyone and didn’t run tempo… OU prepared for that all off season and Heupel did the exact opposite. 😂 Tennessee defense blasted OU and the Tennessee offense played your coaches for fools.
@@modernprofessionals9512 thank you! Someone actually recognizes a game plan.
@@modernprofessionals9512got em!! 😂
People are so freaked out about the abysmal first half that they can’t recall how, once getting acclimated, Hawkins moved the ball against a good Tennessee defense. It wasn’t a fluke. The kid is good. He was able to do this with the OU line.
Talked a lot of smack over the week with OU fans but gotta give it to Oklahoma. They have a top tier Defense. Great game
Sorry our offense couldn’t have made it a better game to watch. Tenn has a hell of a team though.
Arnold isn’t growing he’s regressing.
Will somebody, anybody, please tell me why a former fullback is our QB coach?
Vol Fan here. Dudes! Whatcha mean?? OU is a FANTASTIC 2nd half offense. Seemed like things were definitely starting to spool up in the 3rd.
Got down too much and too early. Solid team, good luck on the rest of the season, welcome to the SEC 😊
It wasn't even the 3-and-outs that killed us yesterday. It was the 1-and-outs!
I know it was killing me
Oklahomas Defense is the shit! Coming from a Vols fan.
Agreed. We couldn’t get anything going on the ground, minus a few blown plays, they played such tight coverage it was impressive.
Definitely dangerous. Those lineman stunts were well executed!
was impressed with how hard ok was hitting last night.
OU defense was good. But dude Vols defense was great.
@@calvincorum6315 Yeah our Defense is impressive. But if you strapped OUs defense in Vols gear I would still be proud.
OU has gone from having some of the best QBs in college football history with incredible offenses and horrific defenses to now being completely the other way around. That's arguably the worst offensive OU football performance I've ever seen dating back to the early 80s and it's not only the QB but the playcalling. Hawkins gives us some hope because he showed some promise and remember we also have Casey Thompson who started for TX and Nebraska. This season isn't over yet.
Thompson should have started day one, he's bad ass, Seth should know that,SMH😎🏈
Tennessee's defense had something to do with it...
@@paulkeahtigh2 he might get his chance. Clearly Arnold is done.
That 46 yard pass to Pettaway in the 4th told me everything I need to know about Hawk
Why did we call a shotgun handoff on the 1 yard line? Terrible calls and execution
I lived through the John Blake era. This is worse, way worse
Another Vols fan, I’ve enjoyed listening to y’all all week. Oklahoma will take care of business next week. It was a fun defensive fight. Y’all have the best defense we’ve played since Georgia in 22
VOLS FAN GBO🍊! But I must say that Oklahoma D IS CRAZY GOOD!
Yes,our o line can't block yet, see y'all next year, we still love Josh 😎🏈
I don't know about CRAZY good. They're good, though.
Oklahoma's defense is okay. not elite. Considering they've been game planning for tennessee since last winter..GO VOLS..
Tennessee Fan but I enjoyed the Podcast. Oklahoma is a "Blue Blood" Program and the Offense at Oklahoma is always expected to be Elite. Auburn is not a good Football Team so Oklahoma should win that game with relative ease.
You have to give Tennessee credit for coming into Norman with a very young quarterback, a hostile environment and with a very well-balanced team.
I know you weren’t calling Oklahoma a well balanced team. Did you see Arnold play? He was trash. That is the worst QB performance in Oklahoma history. Look it up!
Seth Littrell has to go. This isnt some knee jerk reaction to a loss. Through 4 weeks they've shown absolutely zero improvement on offense. Hes made no adjustments to tge scheme, we just keep doing what isnt working. I love having all the former players on staff but this is embarrassing. Time to go get some real offensive coaches.
Not a knee jerk reaction at all. His RPO style is honestly one of the worst styles I’ve ever seen implemented on a football field.
You can’t use the RPO if you can’t run the dang ball. Oklahoma hired the worst Leach disciple. The Littrell hire was terrible and it’s showing
Kevin Wilson…? 👀
Bring Cale back to run the offense!!
How about we stop bringing in former players and coaches and just go get the best OC possible. How many more former guys do we have to bring back to find out it’s not gonna work?
Give the Tennessee Defense credit. They are a Top 1-5 Defense in the Nation. Tennessee was also without their Starting Left and Right Tackle on Offense last night.
I thought Schmitty was supposed to make these guys bigger and stronger. These guys don't look like they could block the cheerleaders.
Overrated coach like oline and Rb coaches
tenn may be the best dl ok plays all year..
@@creepycrespi8180 Texas, Ole Miss and Bama have better D-lines, but Tenn is definitely up there.
@@JB-sc1tg you guys got a tough schedule. welcome to the sec.
It’s crazy how different the offense and defense is. How does your defense get you the ball twice and you give it right back..TWICE
One of the craziest things I ever seen
Yeah, that was unbelievable.
I am hoping that Nico has that Tom Brady luck
Answer is : JA
UT guy, much respect for Oklahoma. The defense was great on both sides, you all need to figure out your offense and you'll be fine. Josh played soft the second half on offense, really the first time I've seen him do that, I think he felt the defense could win the game for us and didn't want our offense to lose it turning the ball over. Good luck the rest of the way
We don't have any weapons! Every WR limped off the field with a toenail or some other issue..
I just feel so bad for Kendal Dolby, man, makes me sick what happened.
The condition of the field was horrible. OU as a university should be embarrassed...
@@christopherbarnett4444They did that on purpose to slow us down. The guys who got injured should sue them.
Vol fan here y'all looked good on D the offense was awful the 2nd string QB looked better but we were playing conservative on D in the 4th quarter only rushing 3 in prevent Defense on offense and defense Josh played to conservative and I think it has a lot to do with our tackles being hurt and we gotta clean up the penalties but some of the roughing the passer calls on 4th down was a terrible call but we got the W by double digits in Oklahoma I'll take it proud of the guys and it was a hard fought game had me nervous in the 4th quarter wish y'all all the best the rest of the year
VFL. Don’t get to down on your team. This season ain’t getting easier for either of us. You’re in the SEC! BEAT Texas!
Beat Texas. Yeah right.
TRUTH BE TOLD: I have been saying this for over a year that JACKSON ARNOLD should have never just been given the job, THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN AN OPEN QB COMPETITION from the beginning now this will be a repeat of 2021 with CALEB and SPENCER .... JACKSON ARNOLD will eventually transfer unless MH9 gets hurt.
It was really a tale of two halves. The second half Sooners offense looked better than OU has looked in a long time. The defense was actually the best on the field because of what it was able to do against the number one offense in the country. Tennessee’s offense is mortal. Hawkins showed that even with O line woes, OU can still move the ball against a good Tennessee defense with the right guy at QB.
Heupel fooled everyone and didn’t run tempo… OU prepared for that all off season and Heupel did the exact opposite. 😂 OU defense IS NOT A TENNESSEE DEFENSE… NOT EVEN CLOSE and the entire country saw that. 😂
TN’s starting tackles were out and it caused TN to call a different game. And TN’s defense could play cov 2 because OU’s offense was atrocious. Heup knew he could win by just running the ball.
Tennessee doesn't have the number 1 offense lmao
Tennessee called 52 runs out of 73 total plays. You didn't see the offense. I'm disappointed it went that way, but dadgum, you're talkin butch jones years vols delusion.
Imagine if the University of Oklahoma could put an offense and a defense on the field in the same season. Thats whats called a football team.
Ou has 7 heisman trophies and 7 national titles, OU can be in whatever league they choose. Stop with the welcome to the SEC stuff. We have hung wins on all of you. We don't look good right now, but that's not forever...
No team has won more games since world war 2 than Oklahoma.
Has more conference championships ( 14 out of 28 Big 12 championships, for any of you great fans that aren’t good at math, That’s 1/2 of them.
Oklahoma is one of the true blue bloods of college football.
Possibly the culprit of the Offensive woes could be missing 60% of your best O-Linemen and 80% of your receivers, which doesn’t help any quarterback, especially a young quarterback.
@lestermcbride6054 everyone has injuries take the L and go on
JA just has no IT Factor
Hes a complete SPAZ and does not have it between the ears AT ALL.
If you put sh in front of the it, that’s the factor JA has
Thanks for a great experience OU fans. Welcome to the SEC. Y’all will fit right in. Be proud of how OU handled themselves last night. They gave nothing for free and never quit. We have one of the top offenses in the country and y’all made us look like we didn’t know how to play offense.
Got to say as a Vols fan, that freshman QB is what you guys MUST go with. Also, you guys have a top tier defense!! Good luck on the rest of your games! GBO and Sooners!
Appreciate the coverage. Was a hard fought win by the Vols. Good luck the rest of the season. 🍊🍊
Actually Oklahoma could have won that game if they would have took Arnold out after the first play he has to go now
I'm not saying give up on Jackson Arnold permanently, but he needs to sit and develop. His confidence has been destroyed, he can't hit open receivers at 5 yards. Jackson Arnold played so abysmally, it has me questioning the entire offensive coaching staff. They knew that kid wasn't ready, zero chance they didn't know. I could list all the issues, but no one wants to spend the next couple hours reading. If this continues next week, they might need to fire everyone on that side of the ball. I knew all that "continuity" BS was ridiculous. This is Brents 3rd season, and he is about to have his second 6 win season. Is that acceptable at Oklahoma? I can't even remember the last time Oklahoma only won 6 games prior to Brent.
Where are the next 3 wins to make it 6? I don’t see it.
I saw the real DEION BURKS tonight; DEION BURKS was frustrated and i don't believe he is truly hurt HE QUIT! BOTTOM LINE, when he saw that they were struggling and NIC ANDERSON went out with that injury and JACKSON ARNOLD was a deer in the headlights , im telling you that DEION BURKS quit on the team with that fake injury because he saw that he was doing it by himself and i hate that i even look at it that way because i love DEION BURKS but he quit on the team .... JUST STAY TUNED!
It's time to bring Cale back in some role to help out. Whether as a QB coach, analyst, whatever.
Tenn fan here. You shook up our coach by getting to Nico. Score on those opportunities and you shake up Nico. Your defense worked hard. Start Hawkins and you win. Beat Texas!
Nico, never got shook up.What are you talking about. He stayed calm and kept his composure. The entire game. We were missing two of our starting tackles, left and right. We ran the ball 50 something times to control the clock and play field position.. Ice water runs through nico's veins. And he's only gonna get better every single.Snap he gets.
If anyone watched this game and didnt see OU get dominated you need a dose of reality
MH looks like Caleb Williams with that shake and bake...
He played well but come back to earth.
Why on earth did Arnold keep the ball on the fumble inside the 10??? I think, that was a read/option. It looked like the rb could walk in on the side
Hawkins process the field alot faster than Jackson Arnold .
Vol fan here yalls defense is legit but that field wasn't in best shape to why so many went down
This was spot on. Joe Jon Finley has no business being an OC at this point. Way over his head. Same with Littrell. Terribly under prepared.
The ignorance of preparation in the last couple years to develop OLinemen for GAME situations is very glaring.
Defense is solid. Special teams, outside of punter, looks troubling.
Vol fan here. Your defense is clearly top five elite. Everything you two said about your offense … is painfully true. That said, I think you will see better results if they play that second QB. The kid can make plays with his legs and his arm isn’t bad either. He was just running for his life too much.
Tennessee sat on the lead. This would have been a complete blowout with healthy offensive tackles for the Vols.
Tennessee may end up being the best team y'all play this year as well yet no credit. Bunch of excuses as to why OU played bad. Maybe the other team was just way better.
@jneal713 on the flip side if we get points off the Vols turnovers the game complexion completely changes. It looked like Tennessee would've prevailed anyway but we'd have seen an exciting finish instead of the ugly
@@jneal713these Okie “fans” will fit in nicely in the SEC with the others Alabama, Georgia, Florida etc. No credit to the other team, just whining excuses.
Lol yeah okay. So our own podcast can’t cover the team’s mistakes, which obviously cost us the game? Just a 1 min video instead: “Tenn is like so much better and stuff.” You really think we’re impressed?
@@TerrySleuthif
Vol here proud of my team. My opinion on ou doesn't matter to you all but hawkins has to be the guy. I thought it was disrespectful to bring Arnold back in for that late td handoff trying to salvage him a bright spot
Absolutely
Have fun at Mississippi State Jackson! Your time at OU is done.
Looking forward to another 49 point Dallas weekend soon… hope to see you there!!!
JA, Seth & JJF need to personally apologize to every defensive player for that circus of an offensive performance. Terrible.
Biggest problem with JA is he is not a leader of men. This is probably the most overlooked characteristic when recruiting a QB.
Sooners, welcome to the SEC. I think you found out that even though QB’s may be 5 stars but SEC football is played on the line of scrimmage. It’s all about the guys on the line that make or break you in the SEC.
It's the coaching and QB, Thompson and Hawkins are the better QBs 😎🏈
Oklahomais going to lose 4 games this year
Everyone knows that. You’re not a football guru
@@BlakeABiggs didn’t claim to be a guru. I agree everyone knows that. Wondering why OU didn’t, since they had a while to prepare for the SEC.
Thanks for your expert radio show advice lol. Defense is up to par. Offensive lines used to win awards and get 1st round draft picks. Obviously they made some recruiting mistakes.
JA and Seth Latrell BS gave that game to Tennessee. Wtf Fire Seth Latrell ass NOW
Wait I thought Defense wins championships 🤦♂️
Tennessee took OU out of its field position game from the start and deserved this win. Good news the Vols supposedly have the best offense in the SEC and we stopped them easily. OC Littrell looks overwhelmed and Coach Bedenbaugh deserves some blame as well
As a sooner fan I hate to say this, but Texas' offense is leagues better than Tennessee's. To me, Texas is clearly the best team in the country right now. If we can hold Texas to 20-25 points, I will be shocked.
Tennessee fan Tennessee offense was hender with the field conditions
The defense played good enough that a mediocre offense would've won this game.
It's difficult to believe they've been preparing for two years.
They need to ditch the RPO all together. They need to stay in a 2 back set to add extra blockers and more run blocking options.
JA and Littrell aint that guy. This offense is same junk we have seen from Lebby and prior to Riley. JA has had 4 games and all off season, enough to have earned the bench. Cant believe we sent Dillon Gabriel packing for this. Defense is playing great
I honestly think your QB benched himself. He looked sick and pale after that backward pass (and it was barely off). I don’t think he wanted to go back out.
Jackson Arnold looks frustrated and tired. But I think it's the play calling. The play calling at the start of the game vs the end is night and day. Seth needs to be benched as OC.... Not to mention all the drop passes from JA
Both of them!😎🏈
Guys, the offense is trash but the real story is Venables finally fixed the defense after 15 years. That seemed impossible. He can hire the right offensive staff.
15:25 Seth is not the man. He is not a great play caller. He is calling play in fear and lowering the expectations and confidence of the QB.
Vols are a complete team and extremely talented, they can beat anyone. That said, OU defense held up against them and played plenty good enough to win. The OU offense was a total disaster. Worse yet, they've looked the same all year, and TN exposed it for how bad it really is. No development, QB regressed, everything you mentioned. You have to blame the coaches. And the players too, they're all getting paid now so they have to deliver. You can't throw millions at this offense and tolerate that performance.
We got beat fair and square and honestly Heup could have poured it on more. This team is who it is. They may be actually making a breakthrough with the cast of characters playing in the fourth quarter. Pettway, Hawkins looked good. Just start looking at positives regardless. The defense is awesome.
nic anderson was more worried about pledging during the offseason then getting healthy. George and Eddie are right, this offense is just soft🤷🏻 auburn will be 50/50 but everyone from here on out will be a tough game ( besides maine)
This doesn’t make much sense to me, Jackson Arnold was a five star recruit out of high school (I could be wrong). How does a five-star get worse in college? At a school known for offense. Honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if we go 3-9 rest of the season.
Tennessee straight bullied OU
Michael Hawkins certainly is a bright spot and now we at least have some hope, but I have to wonder, does the offensive line even have any self pride... do they even care that they are this inept? The defense certainly cares, they were phenomenal. Too bad for them that the offensive staff seems to be totally confused.
In theory the high, wet grass on the field should have hindered Tennessee more, however I believe it contributed to the injuries that hindered Oklahoma. Praying for a speedy recovery for all the injured players and best wishes for the rest of the season.
Ya there a photo goin around of a big hole where that dline guy ankle sunk it when his snapped
How in the world do you go the best offense in the nation to this in three years? The season ticket holders should demand a refund.
Vol for Life here. OU's defense was outstanding and Hawkins very impressive. I'm just a casual student of the game, no expert, but it looks to me like some of the pieces are there including no quit/will to win. Yes this was disappointing if you're a Sooner, but you all are tough.
Now beat that imposter UT school from Austin.
Thank You. Much respect to the Vols from a sooner fan. You guys are legit.
OU fans are the best. Environment is awesome fans are top notch. They belong in the SEC imo
Play calling was embarrassing. Defense did everything they could but the offense handed the game to Tennessee
Brent absolutely, positively HAS TO go hire an OC that high school phenoms want to come play for! Cause nobody wants to come be a part of what Oklahoma has done this season. Right now, the Lebby offense looks like world beaters compared to this circus.
Jackson Arnold may be Jeff Lebby’s next great QB lol. On another matter the rift between Heup and Stoops runs wide and deep. Check out the locker room talk from Heup it was pretty emotional. Vols dominated this game tonight and coasted second half. I think Heup did not want to leave tape out there for Dawgs and Tide. OU is middle of pack this year but such a great program. No doubt will be top ten soon.
No they won’t be top ten soon.
What the heck have we been doing all spring and fall camps? Why can't we execute basic fundamentals after all this time? This is beyond stupid
O-line is getting handled up front easily. JA was never the guy . It’s time to stop this loyalty BS. Play calling is atrocious especially with JA . Hawkins has always been qb1 from since the spring game. The whole offense is a fiasco. Run game is trash ! They need to start rotating that o-line around to see the next best man up ! The guys we have now are just not cutting it !
Almost like QB trying to throw the game on purpose.
George what was the point of that question to BV? Are you implying it’s the coaches fault for the injuries?
The Littrell/Finley experience is over
On the fake injury stuff…in fairness UT does it as well but usually after an extra point to give defense a little more time. NCAA needs to change rule that if a player goes down due to “injury” they are out for the rest of that possession. Refs can’t decide if someone is hurt or not, but if you go down you’re out for rest of that series whether it’s 1 more play or 10.
Im 34, and that's the worst offensive performance I've ever seen by Oklahoma. We could have won that game easily if Jackson Arnold didn't shit the bed....
No, you couldn't have. I appreciate believing in your team, all fans should do that. But yall had 3 points through 3 and a half quarters. Josh said he held the offense back because of how good our d was playing. Hawkins should be the sooner starter l he earned it. Tennessee has elite defense and offense, yalls field sucks and you lost players because of it. Our coach didn't wa t to lose players, so we played vanilla to avoid that. GBO
Tennessee put their 3rd string in the 4th
Young man, pass the mic. Heup slowed everything down and went way more conservative halfway through the third quarter. You guys will be fine. Most experts had the Sooners ceiling at 8 or 9 wins this year. With that D you may get there yet.
In fairness we have like 12 or 13 dudes on the DL and playing the same 5 on OL, they are gonna wear down.
There isn't a QB controversy. You can't put JA out there again. He is horrible. He would make mistakes then come off the field looking like he didn't know where he was.
The left over coaches from the previous staff are the weakest positions we have.
Think Tennessee defense has something to do with it, on the 4th quarter we had the 3rd string Lb playing, that’s when you move the ball.
If we had a competent offense, OU scored and KB doesn't get hurt. Bowersharp's blocking is an embarrassment to the TE position. RB's can't make it to the line of scrimmage without getting touched, thanks to O-Line. The called back 2 point conversion followed by missed PAT is a perfect summarization of how the game went. There I said it, now I can go to bed ... I hate Texas!
For OU to win UT had to play average (which they did) and OU would have to play very good (they didn’t). Both teams playing mediocre was still a 20 point drubbing essentially. Welcome to the SEC.
Hawk is the guy period!!!!!
Tennessee has a reckoning coming when they play a high powered offense. Their D isn’t very good. That have yet to play a good offense this year. No offense to OU but that O for OU is bad.
If Oklahoma's offense can't move the football we're going to lose every game from here on out all are veteran wide receivers are all gone for the season I think Michael Hawkins junior is our best bet moving forward.
Tennessee was not sitting back. JA was making horrible reads more than once missing wide open receivers. Michael Hawkins new starting qb.
Shoutout to all the delusional Sooners who kept insisting Arnold was the best QB in his class (despite no one ranking him higher than 3rd) because he won a camp that Arch and Nico skipped anyways. Bet you're all happy Venables pushed Gabriel out for... that. Venables is a great coordinator, mediocre head coach. That's become painfully obvious.
Where was nick Anderson at i was looking for that boy he supposedly was gonna save the sooners last night
Even with a really good defense it will not be possible to win in the SEC averaging less than 30 to 40 a game. These teams are going to score no matter what. You can't win games 17-14 like the NFL.
Welcome to the SEC. GBO!!!!
Hey Homer! Stop with the welcome to the Sec bullshit. OU has the best winning record against Sec teams( ALL Time) ask Tenn & Bama?
@@lestermcbride6054 thats quickly ending.
OU offensive line is not good. That’s the problem. OU cannot run the ball. QBs lead the team in rushing
JA is done. Hope the backup qb is better. Offense was ridiculously bad.
