Loved your first haul video! I have no idea why but grocery haul videos are some of my favorites to watch lol! And that was super informative about all the different Kosher labeling symbols!
I learned from my brother(chef) that if you make guacamole dip when you finish making it if you put the seed back in the mix it will keep the dip from turning color. Was a nice thing to learn.
The fig bar company didn't change the packaging. They specifically package the gluten free bars differently than the gluten containing bars. The gluten free bars are specifically marked is specifically marked gluten free and their boxes are only half fruit color and the other half a cream color while the gluteny bar boxes are completely the fruit color. That stands when its the small boxes and this goes for the bar wrappers too.. I can see where it's confusing on the Costco box. I have grabbed them multiple times, but always search for the gf label then get disappointed. Costco doesn't ever carry the gf bars, sadly.
@@sandeeberaz-robison4541 I can see how someone would think the packaging changed, if a company makes non-gf and gf versions of the same product and you did not know that especially when a store only carries one version of the product! How confusing.
What a fun look into another part of your life! I love grocery hauls because I always see new products I’d like to buy! 🤣. You mentioned popcorn - that’s one of our favorite snacks too. I found an air popper at goodwill a few years ago for $5, and it has been the best purchase ever. Girl, you need an air popper! 😉. You can season the popcorn any way you want and it’s so easy! Our favorite way to season is refined coconut oil (no coconut flavor) with salt and pepper. It’s so good!! Thanks for sharing your life with us! 💐
I think we distracted you on your shopping trip. I don’t have a membership but since my illness with Covid I have become home bound not able to drive etc. on 4 liters of oxygen so…I have a sweet friend who blesses me with a monthly Costco haul of sorts. Usually chicken nuggets, salad kits, a sweet and anything else I think of. Such a blessing.
I was for sure distracted with filming, kids, and labels lol But it was still a super fun experience:) That’s so nice of your friend to shop for you! What a great friend :)
I'm so sorry you're dealing with what sounds like long-haul Covid. I have a similar illness (ME/CFS), and have also had to deal with being home bound and unable to drive. I've learned not to push myself and to get plenty of rest. Otherwise, symptoms can get worse. I wish you improved health.
Hi Chana: I really enjoyed watching your Costco shopping trip and what you bought. If I were a young wife and mom right now, I know I'd be shopping there, too. You're amazing, taking the kids along, and, I love how they help out with looking for both kosher and gluten free products. Thanks for another delightful video! Stay safe and well until we see you again. 🤗 Rosemarie 💖
Thank you so much Rosemarie! I’m so glad you enjoyed! My kids absolutely love to go to Costco :) I don’t even know why but it’s such a fun outing for them :)
@@jaroffireflies When my older granddaughter was little, starting when she was about 2 or 3, she was the "Kosher Police" in our family lol! She checked every item before it went in the shopping cart for a heksher. It was really cute when she'd yell out in the middle of the store, "But, Bubbe, it's not kosher!" Most of the customers around us had no idea what she was talking about.
Ok so your uncle was Orville Redenbacher.LOL....I have a friend from Indiana whose grandfather attended college with Mr R. Believe it or not, we do not have a Costco membership. I always love learning more about your faith and between Kosher, diabetes and celiac you do have your work cut out for you! Shopping with all three of my children was always stressful as anything they saw, they wanted. As a result, my sweet husband would watch them so I could go to the store alone. And he wondered why it took me three hours to get groceries without the children. :) I loved shopping all by myself. As for gifts at Costco, my aunt gets us some delicious cookies from Costco at Christmas that we love.
Not Orville redenbacher :) But fun story, as a kid I was convinced that was him for a long time lol they looked similar! Ah to shop alone! I would also take 3 hours :)
You really have to read labels. It's so hard to find gluten free, dairy free, and also kosher. You get kudos from me, Channa. I am celiac, and family members are diabetic. I can relate.
I'm non Jewish so all of your videos are a great education! I always wondered what that O U was! Thank you for sharing your life adventures! You bring joy to my soul.
Hi your video made me laugh as a mother of 5 sons who are all grown now. Going shopping was a lot of yes and no as my sons just wanted snacks , chocolate bars and no fruit or vegetables . Hope you and your family are well x
Hi Chane, another great vlog. I have never shopped at Costco, I live in the UK and to my knowledge, it’s not a regular supermarket that people visit, something to do with the card you need to shop there. I work in a supermarket and I will now keep my eye out for the kosher marks that you showed, it’s very interesting. Occasionally I have been asked about Kosher products and have not been educated enough to answer. You have helped me to educate myself on products that we sell. Thank you once again 🙏🥰
I’m so happy to hear this was helpful! Tracy L commented on here with some information about kasher products and hechsher in England if you’d like a little more information:)
I've been saving your video for a quiet peaceful time to watch it. My husband is bathing the kids ready for bed (I'm in the UK so it's just before 7pm) and now is that time. This may sound weird, though not Jewish I do specifically buy Kosher foods and vitamins a lot because I have a severe shellfish allergy and don't always trust that food hasn't been contaminated. Yeah I know I'm strange xxx
I can eat other fish that isn't shellfish but tend not to eat it especially in restaurants where it could've been fried with shellfish but I do like fish so may souce that Kosher as well, thanks xxx
We don't have Costco here but it doesn't stop me from loving these videos☺ Well done Chana for filming in public, you would never know that this was your first time, I make more mistakes doing my online shopping then you did with 3 kids and filming 👏👏🥰😘
There’s nothing I love more than a grocery shopping haul/vlog! I love seeing what’s on offer in another country - which products differ and which are the same. I hope you are doing well, Chana. Hello from Ireland!
I loved watching this video! I am now 26, but I still love meeting up with my mom at Costco and shopping around with her when she needs groceries or I need prescriptions. I was going to go with her earlier this week, but couldn't make it in the end, but this made me feel like I got to tag along with y'all, which I very much appreciate. As someone with food sensitivities and allergies, and family members who can't have gluten or dairy...it's definitely a bit of a process checking food over, and very frustrating when you buy something and then realize you can't have it once you get it all the way home. I was going to ask about the various hechshers on labels, and if there are some that are more reliable than others, it seems from your explanation that there are, but definitely correct me if I'm wrong 😊
Love this video. Grocery shopping is somewhat stressful lol I eat just like you organic kosher and gluten free. I appreciate this video. Super awesome. Thank you again!
You are so welcome! Grocery shopping is always a little stressful for me too because I am trying to keep an eye on my kids while checking labels and thinking about what I need.
I’m really impressed to see that you do such varied shopping. It’s easy to start making very repetitive choices when you are family with several dietary restrictions.
I could do a second Costco haul next month and we would have some things the same, but a lot of different items :) I try to mix it up. Food ruts are awful to me lol
Thanks for posting this! I'm asking my hunny for a Costco membership for the holidays but wasn't sure if it'd be worth it as we're a gluten free house. Glad to know there are options at Costco!
Seeing your smile always brightens my day. I don't have a Cosco near me, but do have a Sam's. Love your explanation of your religion, and of the symbols on the packages.
Getting toward the end of this video I’ve noticed that there hasn’t been a lot of comment on gluten-free labels of the food finds. A lot of strictly gluten free eaters, particularly those with celiac, need to rely on products that have gluten free labels to ensure the foods don’t have some degree of gluten through cross-contact - the labels tell us how foods have been tested for gluten or processed. Like with the pistachos. Nuts can commonly be processed on equipment that processes gluten, so we can’t know for certain that items are gluten free if we don’t have a label. Gluten free kosher nuts can actually be quite difficult to find. There is a kosher nut vendor in Miami, I believe ‘Yossef” that packages certified GF nuts and I never have a problem with them. :) In FL we find most of our K/GF foods at either our local kosher stores (nuts, rice noodles, lunch meats, spices - I love Pereg, crackers) and most of the rest we get from Walmart. Most of Walmart’s canned veggies and sauces are both labeled K & GF, and they have GF bread, bagels in the freezer, and pastas. Thanks for making this video and sharing with us, Chana! Shabbat Shalom!
So glad you enjoyed! Thanks for the info. My son has celiac so foods I purchased that “may contain gluten” (on the label) are foods that he has never reacted to or that have affected his blood tests so we trust them,
This was so great! I am a Reform woman working for an elderly Orthodox couple. I am learning so much from them! I am also loving your channel & learning so much from you as well!
I too find Costco “too peopley” (a phrase I am adopting) and intimidating from time to time, and I’m not even trying to film! Fun and informative vlog.I am sooo glad I found your channel! (How is Bella’s training going? Is she back home yet?)
I only go on weekdays right when they open and it’s really not so bad :) You’ll never see me there in day a Sunday afternoon though lol Bella was just away for the weekend. She’s been home with us since then and doing fantastic! At the current moment she’s back at the trainer to work on her behavior around other dogs and a couple new service training things. It’s so exciting!
I love balsamic vinegar over cottage cheese with crackers. Could you explain the grape juice kosher reasoning, please? I am struggling to figure out the differences between the tangerines and grape juice.
Grape juice wan an ingredient in the oranges. It’s possible if the only ingredient was oranges and water that they would have been kosher. Grape juice always has to have a hechsher with no exception because back in the day it was used in idol worship.
Thanks for explaining about the grape juice. Miss going to Costco and Sam's club it's only me at home now so don't need to make a big haul anymore!!! Enjoyed seeing alm the goodies you got including the comfy pillows!
You are such an amazing Mother and so brave to take them to Costco (they behaved beautifully such a Kiddush HaShem). I was wondering if your son has to cut sugar from his diet or if that was controlled with his pump?
Have you ever tried 🐗 boars head meats from the deli at most high end grocery stores? I’m 90% lacto ovo but every so often I like a turkey sandwich. So glad to see you spend the money on REAL MAPLE 🍁 SYRUP. The other stuff is not real , it’s simple syrup with maple flavoring. The kind you bought is way better for you. Just a hack I use when my adult kids are here, even when they are not, we pour a bit of syrup into a Pyrex measuring cup and microwave for about 15 seconds, it makes the syrup thinner and goes farther that way. It’s just the two of us now, but in 2 months it wall be all of us for 7 days, I start counting on oct. 20th. They are grown men and my Daughter IN LAW. The men will always be my babies. My oldest hates it when I say to him, baby boy could you get….. thanks baby. And when they leave to go home, the tears 😭 and it’s not just me. Enjoy your kids while they are little, they grow too fast, one day it’s pull ups, the next day it’s borrowing your car. Oh and they day thy get married, I got warned not to 😭 cry, I said ok I can’t promise but I’ll try. My younger son is married he’s 39, the oldest is not he will be 42 on Valentine’s Day. Time flies, I’m telling you. We were lucky, we had great kids, ( clearing throat) lol without a lot of discipline all they need was the “Italian mother look”, most of the time that worked for me. I also threatened them when they were teens that I was going to send them to their Dads for a week… lol we have been married45 years , after they caught on, it became a joke. So many of their friends had divorced parents. My oldest said How does that work when you are married, I told him I don’t know but when I figure it out he would be the first to know. I don’t know if Hebrew National hotdogs are Kosher , my youngest used to call them God dogs. I could not figure it out, then one day I saw a commercial for Hebrew National 🌭 dogs, the only hotdogs blessed by God. Ohhhhh , the 💡 lightbulb went off, we were at Costco and they sell them at the food court. I’m now lacto ovo but like I said maybe once a year a turkey sandwich using boars head sliced deli turkey and during the summer when we bbq they wanted those hotdogs. I’m only lacto ovo because I don’t have a gall bladder and if I eat too much meat my stomach hurts. I think I told you, we used to live on the edge of the Amish country in Pennsylvania. I made friends with a lady that had a fabric shop in her basement, her husband is a carpenter, he remodeled our kitchen, we are known as “ the English “ to them, lol I’m Italian it took a bit of explanation. We became good friends, when we left Pennsylvania, she brought over 2 jars of canned 🐻 bear meat. She had a pantry the size of a bedroom, I’m not kidding. We lived in a very rural area, it was not unusual to see wild animals all over. She called when me a lot when we made it back to California ( yes they have smart phones and drive) they are new order. She asked me if we ate the bear 🐻 meat, I said I planned on using it for stir fry when our moving van got here. My husband and younger son are the brave ones, I was not lying, they tried it… not their cup of tea. She told me the bear was right behind our house her son shot it with bow and arrow. I knew I saw a bear but thought my eyes were playing tricks on me, 🦌 deer, pheasant, 🦃 turkeys, 🦊 foxes.I miss the rural Pennsylvania we lived there 25 years. Oh one more thing two of her daughters are midwifes, in the Amish sector you don’t have to be a nurse, you study under a woman who has been practicing midwifery fir at least 5 years. I’m an ER nurse, I wanted to go with her daughter not to help but to see a woman give birth no drugs, no oxygen, no oxytocin, just prayers and screaming. Amish don’t have insurance, if a woman , or anyone else has to go to a hospital or doctor they have a “church bank” the funds come out of that. It was like stepping back in time. Ok now I’m done.
@@Fran-tl6bx boars head is not kosher as far as I know. The Hebrew national hotdogs have one of those unreliable hechshers I mentioned so we won’t eat them :)
Great video. The most we have ever spent at Sam's, which is where our memberships is, was 350ish. But there are only two of us here cause my kids are grown. Also with Covid we don't even go every month. Having kids makes the big box stores a great buy. I really enjoyed listening to your kids help out with the shopping. I do still miss having little ones around. But my grown up kids are great. You are do much fun to watch.

Terrific video of the Costco haul. When I shop at Costco (infrequently admittedly) the cost is usually higher than I expect, but I also figure that it is wholesale, larger sizes, and if I'm aware while shopping in regular stores, I actually have a better deal at Costco. I do sometimes wish they would sort food areas into Kosher, gluten, low sodium, etc., within each section. Product packaging does change and mistakes can happen. An example of sectioning would be the bread section. One area for gluten free. This way, you have a variety to choose from.
@@jaroffireflies I agree 100% on checking labels. This is something I learned the hard way. I try to have a healthier lifestyle. Meaning, limiting artificial flavors and colors. I also, although I personally am not Jewish, do try to buy kosher products as I have a better product. There is more to a kosher product than just a prayer said, it involves how things are raised and prepared, what can and cannot be within a product, etc. I learned this from good friends who are Orthadox. I also know from experience when traveling, to maintain a kosher meal plan as I would have a far less chance of being ill overseas. Believe it or not, this is an open secret of frequent travelers 😀. Thank you again for the video. Many blessings to you and your family...and may you continue to have such nice fall weather, lol!

Two tips on awesome popcorn popping. My dad used to make popcorn most evenings as a snack and it was always perfect. He had a favorite pan that always lived on the back of the stove.(that's not the tip) it was a saucepan...medium largish. But his method works with pretty much any sized pan, you just need to be able to slide it back and forth on the burner to agitate it. First you cover the bottom of the pan with cooking oil...veg, canola, whatever. Depth of oil needs to be a little less than the height of the kernels. Place 3 kernels of corn in the oil, cover with lid. Burner should be at medium high...may take you a little fiddling to find the sweet spot. Agitate the pan while heating, wait until you hear all 3 kernels pop the add enough kernels to cover the bottom of the pan in a single layer. Agitate by sliding pan or shaking it while waiting for corn to pop. The other tip is also part of the key to great popcorn but this was done by my mom. She would buy the big bag of generic popcorn and store it in quart canning jars. Before closing the lid she would sprinkle a VERY small amount of water in the jar. When I do it I use less than a teaspoon. After putting the lid on shake well to distribute the moisture. Continue to flip or shake the jars periodically while in storage. That small amt of moisture gets absorbed into the corn and when popped makes for a bigger fluffier kernal. Orville Redenbachers secret! Good luck!!!
We really like ours popped in coconut oil and with Italian herbs (dried) and a little butter and salt, cheese for those who can eat it (it gives me migraines).

thank you for the lesson on kosher with the different symbols. When I go for groceries I will look to see what I buy . Our nearest Costco is 2.5 hours away .
I love watching grocery hauls. Thank you for sharing!!
You’re so welcome! Thank you for watching!

@@thecatlady6 oh that is too funny! My kids ask if somethings kosher but they don’t police the food… yet lol
Great video lovely to see different food other people buy.
So glad you enjoyed!
The quality of your videos is always so nice! I never knew the iPhone had such a great camera and microphone. Have an amazing day!
Thank you so much! Ya, its why I haven't purchased a "real" camera lol this one is doing just fine :)
Oh ya. Labels are everything when we shop for packaged food.
I'm non Jewish so all of your videos are a great education!
I always wondered what that O U was!
Thank you for sharing your life adventures!
You bring joy to my soul.
I’m so glad this was educational for you! Thank you so much for your kind words ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi your video made me laugh as a mother of 5 sons who are all grown now. Going shopping was a lot of yes and no as my sons just wanted snacks , chocolate bars and no fruit or vegetables . Hope you and your family are well x
Oh yes my kids are the same! All snacks all day! For meals they ask for snack plates 😂
TY Chana,

So glad you did this video totally LOVE watching other people’s hauls
Yayyy! So glad you enjoyed!
Oh then kosher is so helpful for you! Kosher products with fish are generally labeled as such :) since we cannot mix meat and fish
I can eat other fish that isn't shellfish but tend not to eat it especially in restaurants where it could've been fried with shellfish but I do like fish so may souce that Kosher as well, thanks xxx
@@NicSullivan15 I totally get it. 💖
The symbol info was fun to learn❤
We don't have Costco here but it doesn't stop me from loving these videos☺ Well done Chana for filming in public, you would never know that this was your first time, I make more mistakes doing my online shopping then you did with 3 kids and filming 👏👏🥰😘
Thank you so much Marjorie!
Wow and I thought shopping was hard!! Love seeing the difference between American food and British food xx
It’s definitely very different! I have been grocery shopping in Europe and it was very different than USA shopping for sure :)
There’s nothing I love more than a grocery shopping haul/vlog! I love seeing what’s on offer in another country - which products differ and which are the same. I hope you are doing well, Chana. Hello from Ireland!
Hello Helen! I’m so very glad you enjoyed:) Thank you so much for watching!
Oh , I love those cozy pillows ! They will be adorable on your sofa !
I love them! I’ll post them on my Instagram later or tomorrow 💖
I love that you shop at Costco with your mom! That’s so fun! Yes, there are definitely some hechshers that are more reliable than others.
I liked your Costco haul video. See you next video.
Yay! Thank you!
There are a LOT of gluten free options and much more affordable than a regular grocery store :) You’ll love it!!!
Seeing your smile always brightens my day. I don't have a Cosco near me, but do have a Sam's. Love your explanation of your religion, and of the symbols on the packages.
So glad you enjoyed! I like Sam’s too but let our membership lapse because they just don’t have as much that we like as Costco does
Getting toward the end of this video I’ve noticed that there hasn’t been a lot of comment on gluten-free labels of the food finds. :)
In FL we find most of our K/GF foods at either our local kosher stores (nuts, rice noodles, lunch meats, spices - I love Pereg, crackers) and most of the rest we get from Walmart.
My son has celiac so foods I purchased that “may contain gluten” (on the label) are foods that he has never reacted to or that have affected his blood tests so we trust them,
Enjoyed watching your Costco haul and your beautiful children helping mommy out! 😍 So adorable! Thank you for taking us along. Loved it!

Very interesting will be paying more attention to labels from now on.
Awesome!

He eats completely normally :) we do not cut sugar. He actually gets more sugar to help with low blood sugars :)
Love this!! ❤️. Your kiddo’s are such a joy!!!
Thank you! I totally agree about my kids 😊 But I’m also terribly biased 😁
Honest question: what happens if you accidentally eat something not kosher?
Not much :) When we have sincere regret and we promise to do our best not to do it again, it’s as though we haven’t done it at all :)
We lived in a very rural area, it was not
unusual to see wild animals all over.
I get boars head saurkraut and I bet that is kosher. That is so yummy in a sandwich or in a soup. I can't get enough.
@@lynnpayne9519 that probably is! I’ll check next time I see it. I love good sauerkraut!
Oh ya with kids it saves us so much money on food. Where they get me is in the middle with the “stuff” which is why I generally don’t even go to those areas. So glad you enjoyed especially the part with my kids :) thank you for your kind words 💖

Ya I also wish things were more clearly labeled (especially the wine!) but it’s still worth it to read labels for the prices I can get there :)

Thank you Chana for bringing us along, I almost cried when I seen you grab the Kedem grape juice because they discontinued that here at my Costco LV, NV also Kosher meats are scarce too
Oh nooo! I hope you’re able to get what you need 💜
Thank you so much for the tips!!! I’ll have to try these :)
