Hi Grace, glad you like the CRF .I have the same bike.I had a custom bash plate made so if it falls the gear lever can only move about 2cm into the custom bash plate which protects the engine. The guy who did it is a superb fabricator. Once the suspension is modded with the front andreani cartridge kit (not just the spring) as well as the shock the bike can move "as fast as the bike and the ability of the riderallows" They are excellent, have fun!
Greetings from Chiang Mai! Mai GF also have CRF300L I lowered for her and she ride offroad with me already. I have CRF1000L and now buying more lightweight CRF450L. I hope I ll meet you guys on the trails around one day!
you are so knowledgeable about this bike. I really appreciate all your information. I am going not be getting crf300ls hopefully in the near future will be making a lot of the upgrades you talked about. the gear shift protector is brilliant definitely getting that. the reason I am getting the ls opposed the the is I am 5' 8" 180lbs and a new rider. I feel it might better suit me I can sit on the l and both feet touch the ground but not flat footed, the ls will let me achieve this. I am still considering the l any thoughts on this. take care, I know you are probably to busy to respond that's ok you just seemed to really know your shit.
Excellent video! Going to order some stuff from you tonight. Would really appreciate a video explaining the installation of the shaft protector. Not necessarily step by step video, just some pointers on the process.
To install the shaft protector, you just need to remove the lever off the spline, then slide the protector into place, which is flush against the engine case and the bracket of the front sprocket guard. The reason people have complained that it's a pain to install is because, to easily remove the bolt that holds the shifter onto the spline, you'd normally remove the sprocket guard first. But, in this case you can't do that, because the sprocket guard has to be in place before you install the shifter shaft saver. This means that you can't fully undo the bolt that holds the shifter lever onto the spline - you can only loosen the bolt, slide the lever off, then slide it back on again. Some people find that loosening the bolts on the sprocket guard allow enough movement to make this process easier, while still keeping the sprocket guard in place as required.
I finally found time to watch this video. Your explanations to the upgrades were very helpful. Once I get that box of parts you sent me installed, I'll have to consider what else I may want to tinker with. Thank you for sharing your insight.
Greetings, As always another brilliant detailed video production 🇺🇲🍾🎉🇺🇲 Do you have a video how to install the swingarm protector. Thank you so much for assisting me and keep producing more videos
I’ve always enjoyed your videos! It’s been a long time. I love all of your videos. I’m about to buy a used 300L. My goal is to transform it into a light adventure bike in the US by upgrading to a 14L Acerbis fuel tank and Windscreen.
Thanks for your video. On the shifter shaft saver some have suggested the case is soft and it will likely push simply push a whole/crack the case. Thoughts on that? Thanks
I've been using this style of shaft saver on my KLX230 for years, as have many others, as well as on the CRFs. I've absolutely pretzeled the shift lever without doing any damage at all to the shaft or the case, and I've never heard of case damage from any one. I think it's fairly clear that your shifter lever will give way before there's any damage to the case, given the broad distribution of forces with the thickness of the shaft saver. Of course, if you used some kind of super stiff, super strong aftermarket lever, maybe that wouldn't pretzel and maybe that would transfer more force. But I wouldn't recommend that. Always choose which component you want to be sacrificial piece (and make sure it's steel, so you can bend it back). In this case, pretzel your shifter lever and preserve your shift mechanism and engine case.
Thanks for the video. So you say to not use handlebar risers. But without risers, at 6"1, I can't really ride the bike standing up. Another way to say this is that if a tall rider should not use risers, then the bike would be too tall for a short rider. Unless for you, riding geometry is independent to rider size...so if you could say a little more about that ?
Hi Peter, it's all about body position. When standing, you shouldn't be hunched over - because you should be hingeing from the hips. Hinged from the hips, core switched on. No standing straight up. This isn't coming from me (what would I know, really), but from Chris Birch. At 6'2" he never uses risers and strenuously advises that no-one else should use them either, because it ruins both your steering geometry and your body position.
Great video. You are the most knowledgeable person that I’ve found on TH-cam about the 300 L and actual useful upgrades. Especially a heavier clutch and shift lever protection. I haven’t heard anybody mention these yet.
Hi, I am interested in the CRF300L clutch upgrade kit and sent a message via the HiVolt website additional request page but have not gotten any reply. Able to help? Thanks!
Thank you so much for letting me know! I didn't get your message. Can you please drop me a line on orders@hivoltspares.com? My apologies for the inconvenience!
Hi Grace, i am trying to submit an order but it's trying to charge VAT and I live in the US. I emailed a few days ago but didnt get a response. Can you assist?
Hi, the VAT is Thai VAT, payable to the Thai tax office because the locus of the transaction is in Thailand. Thai VAT is payable on all such transactions unless and until a valid application for exemption is approved by the Thai tax authorities. The application fee, to apply for an exemption for a single waybill, generally exceeds the VAT payable on non-bulk exports.
If only I could get hold of one! The KLX300 aren't sold in Thailand. But we do have the KLX250 and there's a lot of crossover. Definitely going to do an update of the KLX230 one though.
The CRF450 is made in Japan, so it's more of a luxury item here in Thailand. We don't have much aftermarket support for it and it's about 2.5 times the price of a 300L. So, it doesn't make sense for me to use the CRF450 for tour customers, or for me to provide aftermarket support and fit outs for the 450. Whereas the 300L is cheap and cheerful and plentiful here, and supporting them with aftermarket parts makes a lot of sense! I still have my 450 right here with me, but it's my personal bike. :)

Taking a decent bike and making it even better.
Thanks for introducing your new CRF parts, Grace. And the explanation why they are needed. Will look up your page, Günter/Nürnberg
Thanks Gunter!

great content this 300 is what I am buying back in SA . selling my T7 :)
Great! Let me know if I can send you any parts for it
You nailed it! Great video.
On my CRF 300 L I have the Zeta brand front sprocket protector mounted, it is compatible to be able to install the axle protector.
I would be interested in buying the gear shifter shaft for CRF 300L. Do you ship to Spain in euros?
We do ship to Spain. Our website takes payment in USD, but you should be able to pay with any Visa or Mastercard.
Excellent video!
Just ordered the 1" down, 1" back foot pegs. Very excited to get them as this riding position is just not adequate for 6'2".
Awesome! My custom fabricator is working on them now, they should be shipping out this coming week.
@@BikeHedonia Awesome!
Great info!
